55 years ago... Apollo 7 Apollo 7 commander, US Navy Captain NASA astronaut Walter "Wally" Schirra became the only astronaut to have flown on Mercury, Gemini and Apollo spaceflight missions, totalling 12 days 7 hours in space! Wristwatch-wise Schirra was the first to wear an Omega Speedmaster during a spaceflight as he wore his personal CK2998 during the 1962 Mercury “Sigma 7″ flight. But he always enjoyed Rolex, as between missions he was often pictured wearing his GMT-master 1675 Pepsi. This 1968 photo shows Walter Schirra posing with a Hasselblad camera for the upcoming Apollo 7 mission. Rolex magazine and Niccoloy found out Schirra wore his personal Rolex Daytona 6240 chronograph, look closely at the screw down pushers in the cut-out! (Photo: NASA)

One holding a bar and one not. The one not holding something was closer to me, so I took a swing at him.”Image source: YouTube screenshotTitus was more specific with KRON-TV, chuckling as he recounted that “I punched him, as you do.”KRON added that Titus believes his reaction surprised his attackers, scaring them enough to run away. KPIX said he believes the suspects may have been after his rare wristwatch. It’s a 1968 Rolex Daytona, according to KRON.What happened next?“I didn’t actually realize how bad the injury was, and standing on a street corner in the cold, my head was hurting, I was bleeding,” Titus told KPIX. “I just wanted to get home and bandage my head and go to bed.”He didn’t call 911 because he said he was expecting a delayed police response, KPIX said. The next day — Halloween — Titus went to a hospital to get checked out, KPIX said, adding that he suffered a severe concussion and needed five staples in the back of his head. What’s more, he’s left with fragmented memories surrounding the attack, KPIX said, and is expecting to need several weeks of recovery time.Hospital staff called police to take a report, but no one showed up during his 10-hour stay, KPIX said, adding that city police later told Titus to go into the police station and complete the report.“I was disappointed they didn’t come for the police report,” he told KPIX.Eventually an officer visited him Tuesday afternoon to finish the report at the residence where he’s currently staying, KPIX said — but Titus added to the station that he believes the visit happened because of social media attention on the attack..leader-1-multi-115border:none!important;display:block!important;float:none!important;line-height:0;margin-bottom:15px!important;margin-left:0!important;margin-right:0!important;margin-top:15px!important;max-width:100%!important;min-height:250px;min-width:250px;padding:0;text-align:center!important“I’d like to see some action from law enforcement and the city,” he told KPIX. “I think there needs to be a tighter relationship between the mayor’s office and the enforcement, and the third thing is I’d like criminals to be held to account.”‘It feels more menacing’“I always felt safe in San Francisco, even in the dangerous years, 15 years ago,” Titus noted to KPIX. “But even before this experience, it feels more menacing, and the police response seems slower.”He added to KRON that “I’ve never been mugged before, I’ve definitely never been assaulted before by strangers. It felt a little scary given I’m in the city I love.”.leader-2-multi-116border:none!important;display:block!important;float:none!important;line-height:0;margin-bottom:15px!important;margin-left:0!important;margin-right:0!important;margin-top:15px!important;max-width:100%!important;min-height:250px;min-width:250px;padding:0;text-align:center!importantAnything else?Titus told KRON his attackers have a darker complexion and wore hoodies; one had a baseball cap.
He added to KPIX that they are around five feet tall.Police told KPIX they’re investigating the incident, and while no arrests have been made, anyone with information can anonymously call the police tip line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD.Titus also told KPIX he was sober during the entire incident and that he’s been sober for the last 30 years. Rolex watches Walter Wally Schirra Walter “Wally” Schirra was one of the original “ Mercury 7 “ astronauts and became the sole astronaut to fly on a Mercury, a Gemini and an Apollo spaceflight mission. Already in 1962, pilot watch aficionado Schirra wore his personal CK2998 in space. In this 1967 photo, astronaut Walter Schirra checked out the modified hatch mechanism of the Apollo Command Module which got several safety improvements after the Apollo 1 pad fire. Note Walter Schirra clearly wore his personal Rolex GMT-master 1675 pilot watch with red/blue Pepsi bezel. In 1968, during Apollo 7 training, Schirra was also photographed wearing a Rolex Daytona 6240 chronograph. Rolex has the most different space-flown wrist watch versions, as at least 8 were worn in space (GMT-master, GMT-master II, Datejust, Daytona 6263, Submariner, Sea Dweller, Yachtmaster and Oysterquartz). Rolex ref. 6241 “Daytona”, 18K gold, champagne “Paul Newman” dial, ca. 1968 In the world of Rolex Daytona collecting and appreciation at the very highest level, extreme rarity is measured by small degrees. This exceptional 18k gold Cosmograph Daytona ref. 6241 (case no. 1’757’900) with champagne “Paul Newman” dial and bracelet is an extremely rare chronograph that fulfils these criteria and more. The 6241 was produced only between 1966 and 1969 and is therefore a rare reference in its own right. 2250 pieces were made in stainless steel, 300 in 18K gold and 450 in 14K gold. It was fitted with “non-Oyster” or “non-screw-down” chronograph buttons and a bezel with black plastic insert, the tachymeter scale was printed in white. ROLEX DAYTONA, STORIA DI UNA CORSA CONTRO IL TEMPO.
Intro
L'attore americano Paul Newman, 1968

Rolex Daytona: story of a race against time
Intro
What binds us at #Florensewatchclub to the world of watchmaking is surely the innate love of seeing the passage of time in the form of unique and inimitable pieces. One of these is definitely the Rolex Daytona, which unites the world of watchmaking with a passion for speed.
The Rolex Daytona was the first sports chronograph to be worn by a driver during a high-speed race. The name is linked to Daytona Beach which was, from 1903 to 1935, the stage of some of the most memorable speed records and beautiful challenges. Two giants of speed, Sir Malcolm Campbell and Sir Henry Segrave, confronted each other on this hard sandy beach, suitable in length and width for motor racing and satiating the pioneering spirit of Americans and Europeans.
As early as 1930, Sir Malcolm Campbell wore a Rolex on his wrist, suggesting that Campbell was quite possibly the first (or one of the first) true international, and natural, endorsers of Rolex. In those days, the Rolex Daytona was not even an idea, as the first Cosmograph would not debut until 1963, but the association between Rolex and Daytona, between the brand and speed, had laid the foundations for the genesis of a legend.
Daytona beach, Florida, USA
Fragments of history
The history of Rolex is inextricably linked to the pioneering spirit of its founder, Hans Wilsdorf, in 1905. At only 24 years of age, Sir Wilsdorf created a company in London specialising in the marketing of watches. He thus began to imagine a timepiece that could be worn on the wrist. In those days, although wristwatches did not guarantee very accurate precision, Hans Wilsdorf succeeded in making them not only elegant, but also reliable. The fledgling company was founded under the name Wilsdorf & Davis, and only later took on the name Rolex Watch Company. The word Rolex is nothing more than a combination of the French words 'horlogierie exquise' (exquisite watchmaking), a name that is easy to pronounce and to remember. Hence, the word Rolex. The brand was registered in La Chaux-De-Fonds, Switzerland, in 1908.
The birth of the Cosmograph, the father of the Rolex Daytona
Among the countless steps forward in the development of modern watchmaking, the birth of the Cosmograph is remembered at Rolex. From the very first editions of the Daytona Continental, the winner was given a Rolex watch. When the Rolex Cosmograph made its debut in 1963, the gift awarded to the winner was no longer just any Rolex, but a Rolex Cosmograph, a sports chronograph that would soon become the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona and finally the Rolex Daytona.
Technical aspects
The Rolex Cosmograph Ref. 6238 has a 37 mm Oyster case, with a screw-down case back and a smooth bezel, which implies the presence of the tachymeter scale directly on the dial, the crystal has a convex profile and is marked with Ref. tropic 21. Also in 1963, the reference 6239 made its debut, an evolution of the 6238 and hence, the birth of a myth.
Inside the beauty of the ref.6239
This model not only features contrasting counters, but also has the bottom of the continuous seconds scale in the same colour as the inner counters. The dial is then made on different levels, with a small step separating the seconds scale from the rest of the bottom, and the additional squares are worked in "filets circulaires", in technical jargon, circular nets. The watch is equipped with a hand-wound Valjoux movement, calibre 72B, later renamed by Rolex as calibre 722-1 and 722.
Daytona Paul Newman
The american actor Paul Neman with his Daytona
The Rolex Daytona Ref. 6239, today also called Daytona Paul Newman, is certainly among the most sought-after watches by collectors; synonymous with wealth and elegance. The legendary Ref. 6239, which belonged to the American actor, was sold at auction by Racing Pulse on 27 October 2017, for €4.5 million. One of the watches with the most controversial history, but one that sees its value increase more and more over the years.

Raj Express. Whenever there is mention of expensive and luxury wrist watches, the only name that comes to mind is “Rolex”. But Rolex's brand has not become so big just because it is very expensive, in fact, Rolex watches have many such qualities, which other brands simply cannot compete with.
The Rolex logo that has become its identity today, this logo was first used in 1925. Many parts of Rolex watches are very fine, so fine that it can sometimes be difficult to count them. What's more important though, is that these parts are hand-assembled in Rolex watches.
The gold used to make Rolex watches is also manufactured by Rolex itself in its manufacturing unit. The world's craze for Rolex can be gauged from the fact that in an auction held in 2017, the highest bid for the 1968 Rolex Daytona model was $17.7 million, which is roughly equivalent to Rs 134 crore.
You can gauge the quality of Rolex from the fact that in 1953, the members of the team that climbed the summit of Mount Everest wore Rolex and the Rolex remained intact even at such a high altitude.
Not only the height, but the record for the highest depth working wrist watch is also in the name of Rolex. In 1960, the US Navy had descended to 35,800 feet in the sea wearing it, even at this depth, Rolex's performance did not disappoint.
All Rolex watches have a time of 10:10 minutes and 31 seconds at the time of taking photographs, which is known as Rolex Time. Also, the date of Rolex watches is set on 28 February and the day is Monday.

The replacement for the $17.43 million watch!
In Europe in the 1920s, with the continuous development of the automobile industry, a series of racing competitions were also in full swing. At this time, timekeeping chronographs have flourished soil. The name of the Rolex Daytona series comes from the "Rolex 24 At Daytona", the event challenged the limits of human and mechanical technology within a full 24 hours. This event began in 1962, and only one year later, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona was launched.
When it comes to Daytona, Paul Newman has to be mentioned. He has the dual status of racing driver and Hollywood star, which deserves to make Daytona a symbol of pop culture. In 1968, his wife, Joanne Woodward, gifted him a Daytona when he devoted himself to the world of racing. At the time, Newman was not yet a brand ambassador, but he and the Rolex Daytona formed an unparalleled publicity duo. With the blessing of celebrities, Daytona is gaining momentum. Later, this Dayton watch worn by Paul Newman was auctioned for a high price of 17.43 million US dollars! Breaking world records including "the most expensive stainless steel watch in history", "the most expensive auction watch in history" and "the most expensive Rolex in history"!
Here we recommend a cheap and high-quality alternative watch of the same collection-top replica Rolex Daytona 116519.
Unlike previous Rolex chronographs, the Daytona was designed for motorsport. Several understated changes on the body make it stand out—the subdials contrast with the dial color for easier reading, and the bezel features a tachymeter scale that allows the wearer to calculate speed or distance based on time. The sub-dial became the most popular feature of the Daytona.
This high-quality replica watch also chose a high-quality self-winding chronograph movement, and it has been significantly modified to meet the requirements of Rolex. Among other functions, it is equipped with a Rolex variable inertia balance, a fine adjustment screw and a balance wheel with a Breguet hairspring.
In addition, the new Cerachrom ceramic outer ring manufactured in high technology offers many advantages. Not only is it resistant to corrosion and scratches, but it doesn't fade even when exposed to UV light. In addition to being extremely durable, the outer ring is also clearly visible. Using PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating technology, the numbers and scales are coated with a platinum film to make the tachymeter on the outer ring clearer. The Cerachrom bezel is integrally formed, helping to secure the mirror to the case and ensuring water resistance.
In many ways, the Daytona has gone beyond its utilitarian purpose to become a symbol of watch collecting. Of course, no amount of words and pictures is as shocking as seeing it with your own eyes. If you are interested in replica watches, click here for more price information.
