YEAH basically ao lie sent xuanzang's previous driver to the hospital and xuanzang, being the world's craftiest/shadiest employer sniffed out the opportunity to cut costs and hired him on the spot. yeah the teen 20yo who caused a car accident. he hired that kid as his driver. it's all gucci tho because he doesn't have to pay him for real <3

Was reading up on Jomon genomes on Quora. Thought of applying what I read on my faves.

I'm really going all out on shaping character faces.

I know they not Japanese but I think it still applies to most East Asians

Because the ancient Jomon gene isn't just exclusively for Ainus & Japanese. The Jomon ancestry is pretty much scattered along East and Southeast Asia.

Jomons are said to have come from Central Asia , which makes them Eurasians

So closest thing to how they look like are Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhs, and Mongols

Im not so sure if I should use Korean for Bajie but Im just following what I've read. Although Koreans are pretty much related to Han Chinese.

Fun HCs:

Bajie has naturally rosy complexion,quite fair skinned due to his obssessive skin regimen(probably takes glutathione). Also its baby soft, like a piglet lol. The blush is a callback to his makeup in the movie

Wukong is tawny, tanlines on the arms and a bit of sunburn around the nose and a slightly darker tan on the forehead area (again a reference to his movie look)

Wukong has crooked and chipped lower teeth

Bajie's are quite even and well taken care of

Was curious how Wukong would look with a haircut. It kinda works for a teenage version.

Teeth differences as their default demon forms

Bajie to me is quite insecure about his pig form, and the reason why he looks the most human. The teeth structure are supposed to look like tusks. Bajie shrinks them a lot to be tiny that they look like fangs now.

Also I always wondered if Wukong had the urge to bite Bajies face since it looked a lot like those longevity peach buns.

Remembering why they appeal to me 💗🫀🥩

Couldn't decide if I should post the OG colors or the modified one so both it is. Can't believe I yassified this greasy rat so much. You can tell I'm thirsty for him🤷🏻‍♀️

Here is the OG design by frozenladybug, but idk if she uses this design as finalized or just for storyboards.

I just lean more on making Bajie sleeker and have a bit of edge in my art. Just want to emphasize his conniving-ness in the design.

Its funny how inconsistent I prefer to draw their heights

I also realllly wish that Illegally bound have some kind of written work >.< but unfortunately neither me or @sneakystorms write much
