2058 17Feb22:
Didn't do any progress with film prep today as I was focused on my medical paperwork. Have an appointment Tuesday to sit down with a Veterans Affairs rep to discuss all the medical conditions that have changed for me since 2003 when I passed my entry medical exam to enter Naval Service.
Man... I have to list all the medical stuff from back pain to joints not working correctly any more. Fun times.
Tomorrow I will be working on my Gringian Stilts.

What we need is more censorship
5 Senators wrote to Ms. Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube:
We write to express our serious concern that YouTube continues to host videos that instruct viewers on how to make and manufacture ghost guns. This content is a clear and direct violation of YouTube’s existing Community Guidelines on firearms, which provide that “[c]ontent intended to . . . instruct viewers on how to make firearms, ammunition, and certain accessories or instruct viewers on how to install those accessories is not allowed on YouTube.”
While we acknowledge and appreciate that YouTube has engaged with congressional staff about this problem and, in recent weeks, removed some of these videos, we are alarmed that an extensive amount of this dangerous content still exists on YouTube. It appears that the steps that YouTube has taken thus far are insufficient*** https://www.scribd.com/document/559525871/0215-22youtubeghostguns#download&from_embed
City of broad shoulders, hog butcher to the world....
***Despite mountains of proof, we keep hearing a refrain from Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx that goes something like this: “We looked into the case, but we don’t think it’s enough to meet our burden of proof.” With that, she lets one criminal after another walk and commit more crimes, for which they might be let go yet again.
Foxx and Chief Judge Timothy Evans run a “catch and release” program that allows criminals to commit crime after crime, resulting in serious crimes expanding outward into the suburbs.
Cire Robinson, an Oak Lawn sixth grader, was tragically killed by a drunk driver last January who was caught with a .457 blood alcohol content. That driver was only free and able to commit this crime because Foxx’s office dropped all 17 of his prior felony charges. Yes, that's right — 17.
Here in Orland Park, where I serve as mayor, we have to work around inert prosecutors such as Foxx. When she refuses to charge criminals for their crimes, we turn to federal agencies to ensure that justice is served.
Recently, an individual whom Foxx refused to charge pleaded guilty to two of three federal charges carrying a minimum six years in prison. For this, we can thank the outstanding work of our police officers. This is what we have to do to keep Orland Park's families safe and its neighborhoods secure.
Our department never accepts the can't-do attitude of the Cook County State’s Attorney office. While crime has reached record levels in Chicago and throughout most of Cook County, here in Orland Park, we’ve reduced crime to its lowest rate in 27 years. With the lowest violent crime rate of any Illinois city with a population greater than 50,000, Orland Park was rated the safest city in Illinois in 2020.
Your community can achieve these same results doing exactly what we’ve done*** https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/op-eds/how-cook-county-became-a-crime-destination-and-how-my-city-is-fighting-back

People butcher to the world, too
CHICAGO — The family of 15-year-old Sincere Cole, who was fatally gunned down near a Chicago Lawn gas station, is pleading for witnesses to come forward.
Cole was shot 24 times while he was heading to the gas station at Western Avenue and Marquette Road Saturday evening for snacks.
His aunt, Brandy Martin spoke with WGN News on Sunday, revealing that she has lost her sister and daughter within the last three years. She says she is still in shock three days after the murder of her nephew.
“Sincere was creative, ambitious. An entrepreneur at 15. He found a way,” Martin said. “Standing at the gas station pumping people’s gas to make money; it’s better than knocking an old lady in the head for her purse. He didn’t have to die.”
Speaking to reporters three days later, Martin revisited the site when Cole lost his life Saturday night.
“My nephew balled up and pleaded for his life,” Martin said. “Somebody say something.”*** https://wgntv.com/news/chicagocrime/please-speak-out-aunt-seeks-help-finding-shooter-who-fired-24-times-killing-nephew/

The award for most creative use of a federal pandemic loan goes to...
A woman in Florida has been arrested by Miami authorities for allegedly using money from the Paycheck Protection Program to hire a hitman.
Jasmine Martinez, 33, was arrested earlier this month for allegedly hiring a contract killer to murder Le’Shonte Jones, 24, in April 2021, shortly after receiving a $15,000 PPP loan. Miami-Dade authorities said Martinez withdrew $10,000 from her bank accounts in the lead-up to the shooting, which left Jones dead and her 3-year-old daughter injured, according to arrest records obtained by the Miami Herald.***
[Hitman Javon] Carter had a video on his cellphone from two hours after the shooting showing him counting a large sum of money and saying "just another day in the office." Martinez applied for the loan for her single-employee beauty salon, receiving it April 20, 2021. Jones was killed May 3. Jones and Martinez had a series of legal run-ins over the years, including a 2016 case in which Martinez physically attacked Jones, the Miami Herald reported.
Martinez's defense attorney, Fallon Zirpoli, told the Washington Examiner that her client maintains she had no role in the killing.*** https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/florida-woman-accused-of-using-ppp-loan-to-hire-hitman

SCt nomination news
Most nights when he’s in Washington, House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (D-S.C.) sits down to dinner with Cedric L. Richmond, one of President Biden’s closest advisers, at the members-only National Democratic Club. “Even when Jim and I disagree, I know where he is, and I can always, for the most part, articulate his thoughts on a particular issue,” said Richmond, a former congressman from Louisiana who co-chaired Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. The long-standing dinners have morphed into an informal way for the White House to understand Clyburn’s thinking on issues of import.
Biden, 79, and Clyburn, 81, have been friends for decades, and the South Carolina lawmaker’s endorsement helped the former vice president overcome a string of damaging early-state losses to win the state’s Democratic primary in 2020, saving his political career and putting him on course to win the White House.***
Although Clyburn’s unabashed advocacy for U.S. District Judge J. Michelle Childs has quietly irked colleagues with differing opinions, the congressman insisted in an interview that his push is more suggestion than ultimatum. He said he’s earned the right to advocate for a Black woman who represents the values of the voters in his state — a product of public universities and academic scholarships who he says would garner bipartisan support.
“I always said it would be a plus, but it’s not a must,” Clyburn said of his support for Childs during an interview at his office in the U.S. Capitol last week. “I don’t believe in ultimatums. I don’t want nobody giving me one, and I’m not going to give anybody else one. I may be disappointed for the rest of my life, but I’m not going to give an ultimatum.”
Other Democrats without a decades-long relationship with Biden or a dinner invite say they worry that the friendship between two of the nation’s most powerful men will drown out their opinions of who should fill Justice Stephen G. Breyer’s Supreme Court seat.***https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/02/16/clyburn-supreme-court/

Look at her posture in the video
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man suspected of assaulting two women in two separate incidents Tuesday. The first incident happened around 1 p.m. in the 800 block of North Vista Street in Los Angeles, near Melrose Avenue. Police say that a woman was pushed into a garage and the suspect intended to rape her, but she was able to escape. Surveillance video from the incident showed the victim and the man walking into the driveway of a home, then disappearing from the camera's view. Moments later, the woman is seen running away, back to the street. The suspect later appears in the frame. The woman ran into the path of Aaron Colbert, who was driving.
"My instinct was to just unlock the door and she just jumped in," Colbert said. "It happened so quickly... I could just tell there was something really wrong, and I could tell she needed help." Colbert drove her to a nearby police station. About 15 to 20 minutes later, a similar incident involving the suspect happened in the 7600 block of Hampton Avenue in West Hollywood, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. A woman was pushed into her apartment. In that case, the woman screamed and the man ran off, authorities said.***

A Tennessee man was sentenced [Wed, 16feb22] for the arson of four Nashville area churches.
Alan Douglas Fox, 29, of Nashville, was sentenced to seven years in federal prison and three years of supervised release. He had previously been charged by criminal information on Aug. 25, 2021, and had previously pleaded guilty to all counts on Oct. 20, 2021.
According to court documents and statements made during the plea and sentencing hearings, Fox intentionally set fire to the Crievewood United Methodist Church on June 17, 2019; the Crievewood Baptist Church on June 25, 2019; the Saint Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church on June 25, 2019; and the Priest Lake Community Baptist Church on June 26, 2019, all because of their religious character. Fox also carried and used a handgun to break into the Crievewood Baptist Church to facilitate the arson. The fires resulted in significant damage to all four churches.*** https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/tennessee-man-sentenced-seven-years-series-church-arsons

Fascinating story about tracking stolen bitcoin
It’s the biggest financial seizure in the history of the U.S. Department of Justice: $3.6 billion in Bitcoin that the government says was stolen in a massive hack in 2016.
The announcement on Tuesday by federal law enforcement and prosecutors revealed a six-year chess match to find the culprits behind the theft of 119,754 Bitcoin from the cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex. The proceeds—worth $72 million then, but $4.5 billion now—were siphoned from users’ accounts into a single crypto wallet.
For years, most of the money sat in that wallet untouched. But, once the currency slowly began to move out of the wallet and into the traditional banking system, investigators were able to start tracing the transactions to people in the real world. On Tuesday, a married couple in New York, Ilya Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan, age 34 and 31, were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to defraud the United States.***
Eventually, the funds made their way into more traditional financial accounts held by Lichtenstein and Morgan, who spent the money on gold, NFTs and a Walmart gift card that was used to pay for Ubers and a Playstation, according to charging documents. A vast amount of Bitcoin—hundreds of millions of dollars worth—was converted into real money, but there was still a long way to go: 80% of the funds that had initially been deposited into the initial crypto wallet after the hack remained there until January 31.*** https://time.com/6146749/cryptocurrency-laundering-bitfinex-hack/

Your self esteem may be low, but is it Kelly Wright - low?
***Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel said Kelly Wright is a registered nurse who worked for a company subcontracted to provide care at the jail. He said she dispensed medications and tended to injuries.
Jail employees became aware of the situation when inmates would specifically request Wright.
Federspiel said an investigation revealed repeated incidents.
Wright was arraigned last week on one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with an inmate.*** https://www.wnem.com/news/undersheriff-nurse-fired-after-letting-inmates-touch-her-sexually/article_0679d6c0-8f84-11ec-8517-57bda7b360c0.html
She was asked to not return in Jan 2021. The contractor has fired her.

A Virginia man was sentenced yesterday to 10 years in prison followed by a lifetime of supervised release for possession of child pornography.
James B. Clawson Sr., 59, of Alexandria, was convicted by a federal jury in the Eastern District of Virginia of possession of child pornography on Aug. 26, 2021. According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Clawson was previously convicted of distribution of child pornography in the Eastern District of Virginia after law enforcement discovered that he was serving as the administrator of an online forum dedicated to child sexual abuse material and distributing such material to members of his forum.
While on a term of federal supervised release in connection with this conviction, a U.S. probation officer visited Clawson’s home and found a laptop and thumb drives in a hidden compartment in Clawson’s closet. Though Clawson had denied owning a laptop, law enforcement’s investigation established that Clawson had been using the laptop to search for and download images and videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, which he then stored on one of his thumb drives. Once saved to his thumb drive, Clawson categorized and renamed these files based on the specific sexual conduct they depicted.*** https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/recidivist-defendant-sentenced-10-years-possession-child-pornography
