Finding musical inspiration isn't always simple for you, for other artists it seemed to come easy all of them having catalogs of unreleased works to release whenever they seem fit, it especially hurts when you feel like you’ve exhausted and exploited every relationship you’ve ever been in, and so naturally you frequently find yourself wishing you could go through a terrible breakup only to write a few words, which was definitely a normal thing people do of course.

So after several hours cooped up in a studio in Vegas, feeling like you're drowning in wasted paper, you decided to gracefully accept the invitation to attend the season's first Las Vegas Aces game. Sports weren't your thing normally, but right now you'd do anything to get a break.

During the game, the camera may occasionally focus on you in an attempt to capture a reaction for an Instagram post or whatever but throughout the forty-minute game, you were so captivated by number 20 you didn't give much thought about anything else, you couldn’t take your eyes off her when she started playing, even though she didn't start until after the first half. Her braided ponytail swung as she moved, and she had total control over the ball as she dribbled up and down the court she had you in the palm of her hand and she had no idea.

After the game your only goal was to meet Kate eyes scanning the whole court after press was done but unfortunately for you kate was gone so the next best thing you could do was the epitome of modern flirting, follow her on instagram it probably made you look desperate considering it was only seconds after the game but it was fine nobody would notice right?

Well Kate did because not long after a notification pops up on your phone.

After the game then after doing press and getting changed Kate finally made it to her car ready to head back to her apartment, not before checking her notifications, most of which were boring just her friends checking in with her or congratulating her on the aces win tonight but then she sees you followed her.

She can’t help but smile to herself of course she saw you during the game. How could she not have noticed you when you looked so good? and maybe she did put in a little more effort she was subbed in, call it the Jordan Poole effect. following you back, then taking it upon herself to scroll through your account, pictures of all of your performances and music videos you’ve done, your album cover and a few pictures of you. she likes a few of them before dming you.

I'm ill and not really good at words to begin with but. I think we should just hard reset the entire USA. Like burn the whole motherfucker down and start over. And here's what I would change personally

- almost every state is its own individual country. It's too fuckin big and there's too many people for a central federal government to Work. I say almost because some of the really small states could clump together if they want idk I live in one of the bigger ones. In fact most physically large countries should probably do this

- likewise, the "union" of the state-countries should become like Europe where it regulates like. Travel and currency. And emergency wartime shit. Keep free travel open between the states like you can just cross most country borders in Europe

- if we MUST stay as a single country, COMPLETELY rework the voting system. Make it like Australia in particular that shit fucks severely. Honestly even if the states become their own countries we should do this.

- universal basic income. Like do I even need to explain this. Give everyone a basic livable wage that covers basic housing & food comfortably.

- shorter work hours. I'm not an expert but I think it's been proven that like a 5-hour 4-day work week would be just as productive or smth. Don't quote me on that one.

- ban private prisons. Like come on what the fuck.

- (ubi should cover prisoners too. Btw. And literally everyone else over 18. And ppl like 15-17 should start to get a smaller amount that goes into like a trust account that they can access when they're 18. just as a boost)

- COMPLETELY rework school funding oh my GOD what the fuck are we doing. Give grants to struggling schools and schools in poor areas. Abolish this "no child left behind" CRAP that incentivizes memorization over actual learning. MANDATE A HIGHER MINIMUM WAGE FOR TEACHERS.

- Actually tax the 1%. Also no one should be able to be a billionaire. Any income over like $10m (am open to constructive criticism on exact amount cap) should be taxed at 100%.

- universal healthcare. I will *allow* private hospitals to exist (for now) but EVERY state should have at least one easily accessible non-privatized hospital system where every individual hospital is a certain radius from each other so that p much everyone has access to it. The reason private hospitals COULD still exist is so that ppl could choose to pay a bit for expedited care if wanted. Open to constructive criticism on this one.

- decriminalize drugs. All of them. Rehab centers should be covered under universal healthcare too. People turn to drugs most often when nothing else is helping them - it's a systemic issue, not a personal failing.

- abolish student loans. Colleges should run on grants and donations. I shouldn't have to go into debt to learn, even if I just want to take a class or two a year. Also all textbooks should be available for free online, at least to students, or be available in bulk quantities in the library of any college that requires them for any course.

- decapitalize the Internet. It should be ILLEGAL for certain public websites (search engines, wikis, news, etc) to run ads. For websites like YouTube ads should be limited to like 5-10 seconds PER VIDEO.

- (also this isn't like a government level thing but they should totally bring back the branded game sites. Like the sites w barbie browser games n shit. That shit SLAPPED.)

- there should be both an increase in minimum wage and a cap on how expensive necessities can be. Things like bread, eggs, meats, locally growable produce, etc should be capped at a certain price point and not allowed to go above that point. This includes things like medications and menstrual products and also like condoms. "Luxury goods" (premade meals/snacks, coffee, alcohol, etc.) could be exempt from this. Open to constructive criticism on that.

- ban use of oil/gasoline wherever possible. Full stop. There's no fucking reason for it. Also power & water shouldn't be allowed to be privatized in any way and use of renewable energy like solar and wind should be mandatory. Also it should be free to everyone ever

- all companies and their products should be required to be under a certain carbon footprint/pollutant threshold. This includes limited or outright banned use of plastic products forever. We can find disposable alternatives that don't fuck us and the planet.

- nobody over like 60 should be able to run for office I'm fucking sorry but I'm sick to death of old ass motherfuckers running shit get outta here grampa no one likes ur policies

- medical euthanasia should be legal to perform but NOT legal to professionally recommend. Like a doctor can perform it but doctors and nurses cannot tell you that you should. It should also be regulated in some ways but I'm not about to get into that rn

- decriminalize sex work. Just. Full stop. People are gonna do it no matter what laws are in place, it's the oldest profession for a reason, decriminalize it and put in place laws protecting sex workers from abuse & exploitation.

- (obvs with above there should be SOME laws against specifically shit like performing sex work for/with a minor & other shit like that but that falls under "pedophilia is illegal" which like yeah good.)

- (on that topic though any CLEARLY DRAWN/NOT PHOTOGRAPHICAL porn REGARDLESS OF CONTENT should be fully allowed so long as it can e reasonably determined that no real life people were used as reference or could be recognized via the art. Like I'm Not Into even fictional children being in porn art but it isn't hurting anyone even if it's gross and I don't get it. Adults can to photo porn stuff as long as everyone's consenting tho)

- decensor the Internet. I don't care that there are children here. Sure you can have specific sites catered to children but they should not be allowed to have ads AT ALL (see "decapitalize the Internet") and anywhere not designated as specifically "for children" should be completely uncensored or have options to be completely uncensored. Make people parent their own fucking kids again.

- actual separation of church and state. If the only root argument in favor of a law or bill is "bUt ThE BiBlE" it should just be tossed full stop no exceptions. Also businesses and such should be incentivized to allow people of any religion their holy days off (unless no one is guaranteed to have their holy days off)

- On that note strengthen anti-discrimination laws. No one should ever be denied anything simply for their gender, presentation, religion, sexuality, race, etc.; this does not apply to any closed religious practices (where no one outside that particular religion is supposed to take part in a ceremony, style of dress, etc.) by any recognized nonprofit group.

- just give the native americans back their lands already. National parks should be allowed to be "maintained" (lived in) by indigenous people in whatever ways they want tbh. The only "rule" should be that visitors/tourists should still be allowed to enjoy the spaces so long as they are respectful of the land and the people. Humans are not inherently separate from nature.

- (if anything in the above point is worded badly I'm sorry once again I am The Sick and words are hard)

- work with Canada and Mexico on fully opening borders bc seriously what the fuck.

Now I have a few new things to read that I somehow missed the first time around as well as a bunch of old favorites to go and re-read. So much good fic is out there by so many talented writers!

In the spirit of adding to folk’s ever growing MFL list I’ll just pile onto the bandwagon with my answers as well.

 1.  How many works to you have on AO3?

56 although there are several collections of snippets that technically could be counted separately. On AO3 I'm KtwoNtwo.

5.  Do you respond to comments?

Yes, even if its just a “I’m glad you liked it.���  The only ones I don’t respond to are the generic solicitations to join some random contest or fic publishing website.  Those get blocked and reported.

6.  What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Well, I don’t really write major angst but The Four Riders has got a bit as does the poem Gun in the Drawer though they both end on a hopeful note.

7.  What’s the Fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of my fics have happy endings but probably A Toast to the Science of Deduction resolves the happiest of the lot.

8.  Do you get hate on fics.

Nope.  Only got one anonymous troll alleging trademark infringement due to a title.  I fired back a factual rebuttal: basically "there is no book by that name by that author, there is no lawyer by that name, you didn’t provide contact information and btw trademark doesn’t work the way you allege" then added a set of quotation marks to the title.  Never heard anything more about it.

9.  Do you write smut?

I have but I’m not terribly good at it.  Most of the time the characters look at me then politely, or not so politely, shut the bedroom door in my face.

10.  Do you write crossovers?

Oh God Yes!  Technically I think I write fusions, where both fandoms end up in the same universe, as opposed to crossovers but I’m rather unclear on the difference between same so I tend to just call 'em crossovers and leave it at that. 

11.  Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I could find or prove.  I did have a couple of strange search results pop up with my use name and some fic titles attached but the websites all seem to be defunct now.

12.  Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not to my knowledge.

15.  What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

There’s a fic based on a song by Abney Park that I’ve got an outline for but it never seems to go anywhere.

I can merge and/or crossover all sorts of different fandoms. 

17.  What are your writing weaknesses?

Typos and punctuation.  Being slightly dyslexic I can’t spot the former and I never know if I’m using commas correctly or not.

18.  Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I actively avoid doing so because I’d butcher it badly.

19.  First fandom you wrote for?

Emperor’s Edge by Lindsay Buroker.  I will admit that I wrote in my head, but never got around to put on paper, a number of Star Trek stories when I was significantly younger.

20.  Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

I like all of them for different reasons.  The one I’m most proud of however is The Emerald Falls my Study in Emerald inspired ACD Fic.

I'd love to have some of the artists/podcasters respond to this with whatever modifications are necessary to fit the medium involved. I started watching in summer 2012. I actually looked up my first video a few month ago and it was The Meaning of Life. Which yeah, tracks. I then tore through their backlog. I was immediately a phan shipper btw. I saw the blindfolded cat video and just knew.

I was on tumblr at the time (not on this blog, on my first blog) and dipped my toes into the phandom at the time. Mostly just lurked but it was fun.

Until the video leaked in October. Things were chaotic to say the least. And then there was the customer service blog which,,, was,,, bad.

I was 16 almost 17 and fully aware I was queer. A lot of the conversations at the time from the phandom (and from dan sorrryyyy) were not great and I didn’t really want anything to do with it.

So I had left the phandom pretty completely in 2013 although I still kept up with their videos and would occasionally lurk in the tag.

And then I started college in 2014 and completely left fandom. I stuck around on tumblr for a little bit longer and never left YouTube but I was pretty offline (comparatively). I was living a party hard, study hard lifestyle which didn’t leave much time for online life.

I do remember most of the big phannie stuff. Gaming channel. TATINOF/TABINOF announcement and the fallout from that. BONCAS. So I was kinda keeping up.

Until around 2018, when I started grad school. I was still watching their videos but I was fully off tumblr and wasn’t watching livestreams or anything. So I was aware of the changing vibes in their videos but not thinking much about it. I missed a lot of the II era.

BIG dropped when I was at my job in the state capitol lmao. Absolutly totally blindsided me. Had to wait hours to watch it. Which these days would have been torture but at the time I was less emotionally invested. Still cried tho.

Finished my masters program in 2020 (lol) and moved to Nashville. I worked from home and didn’t know anyone besides my roommates so I got back on tumblr and returned to my chronically online roots.

I was super into the stereos and Phil’s videos at the time. I was aware of WAD and watched Dystopia Daily. I also caught up on a lot of the stuff I missed.

But I didn’t join the tumblr phandom until gaming channel came back. Pretty much as soon as it was announced I was dialed in. I think I made this sideblog when the catboy sweater and pictures dropped. And now I am way more obsessed with them then I ever was in the last 12 years oops 🤷🏻‍♀️

To get sappy, the past year has been the most into phandom I’ve ever been and it’s come at a really important time for me. Real life is so kicking my ass right now and the phandom is such a source of joy and connection for me 🫣

I WILL FINISH MY WORKS IN PROGRESS, IT'S A PROMISE!

Ocarina of Time's story lasts 2-3 years

((By 2-3 years, I am excluding the 7 year coma. Plus the coma, the game lasts 9-10 years.))

A theory I've sat on for about a decade is that when Link collects the spiritual stones, it takes him an entire year, perhaps less, 6 months at the least. Retrieving the medallions takes 1 to 2 years. This means that the game, from Link's perspective, lasts 2-3 years.

Time in Hyrule, from our eyes, is strange. Each day cycle is a real-life 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and each night cycle is 1 minute and 20 seconds. By the time Link leaves the forest, the number of days it takes to venture across Hyrule might just take a year. Time in this game is extremely relevant, and personally, I think the day/night cycle is accurate in terms of Hyrule's scale. I am also including areas where time stops. Although not really relevant, Ocarina of time takes between 11-14 hours to complete if you know what you're doing. For others, it might take 20-70 hours.

Gaebora Kaepora does mention at Hyrule Castle that time "stops" in some regions of the game, such as the market or Lon Lon Ranch. I have always assumed that time stops to allow players to linger around shops or keep things from randomly changing every couple of minutes (i.e., if time continued in the ranch, Malon would bounce from the field to her house constantly). This is a game mechanic. I don't think time literally stops at the farm because then, the horses wouldn't move, and Malon couldn't speak. 

The same goes for Twilight Princess. However, time in TP is further stretched, albeit unevenly. It takes around 17 real-life minutes for an entire 24-hour cycle, give or take. Places like Kakariko or Ordon do not change in time, likely because they're the players' "resting stops," if that makes sense. The overworld in Ocarina of Time is much smaller in scale than in TP. It makes sense that proportionally, time moves at different speeds. Kakariko is pretty close to the castle in OoT, but it's much farther in TP (which is the same field, btw). Discussing more of OoT and TP's map differences is a waste of time in this post because there are many inconsistencies despite the games taking place only a century apart. 

My theory only works if Link isn't a speed runner. I am going under the impression that the game is played as Nintendo intended. I am also working with the assumption that the player 100%'s the game and isn't a total noob.

From YouTube playthroughs to my own, it would take Link around 105 GAME days, at the least, from waking up in bed until the point he opens the door of time. 

This makes more sense in the story. Ganondorf's climb to power was calculated and pre-determined. He attempted to gain the King's trust over months or perhaps a year to determine his next steps. Ganondorf slowly corrupted each region and race of Hyrule and the Hylians were saved for last. When Link and Zelda meet for the first time, it's also likely the King of Hyrule and Ganondorf's first meeting. 

It would've taken up to a year if we think about Link sleeping, eating, indulging in free time, etc. These story gaps are primarily filled in the mangas, but it's up to you to decide. People do sleep in Hyrule, and Link is not excluded. Link also defecates, but we thankfully don't see this on-screen. We can only assume it happens. In a way, you can think of Ocarina of Time as an interpretation of a story. In movies, we don't see people eating or peeing regularly. We get time-skips and jump-cuts, and viewers assume the gaps. 

Considering it takes Link well over 100 days from the start to the temple of time, it's safe to presume we can double or triple that number based on things he would do off-screen. Sleeping is the biggest factor in this.

As an adult, Link's main quest is retrieving the medallions, which takes considerably longer. According to brief calculations, it would've taken Link around 200 game days to get the medallions, do quests, defeat bosses, etc. If we triple or double that number (400-600), it could've taken Link 1-2 years (estimation) to do all of this. 

It took Ganondorf 7 years to prep for Link's return and gain full reign over Hyrule. In that time, he built an empire and gained followers. I will finish all of my wips i will break the cycle and then i will be free and never again be plagued by thoughts about the Characters in Situations. i know this sounds like a cop out answer but i genuinely with all my heart believe that i will eventually get to all 17 of my wips this is simply the extent of my hubris

16. What are your writing strengths? dialogue i think. and smut idk can smut be a strength. tbh i haven't received a lot of constructive feedback on my writing outside of fan spaces so i dont feel qualified to answer this

What are your writing weaknesses? over-explaining/over-describing characters actions and motives and emotions in a scene. i feel like this is smth that doesnt come across in my final drafts as much anymore bc ive been actively working on it but this is the thing i consistently struggle with during the process. also i tend to be kind of lazy with research which isnt the best quality to have when you write mostly in historical settings. but with fanfic i feel justifed in only spending one hour instead of three reading up on life in 18th century Paris since i do have a life to get back to at some point. if i was writing for publication i would try harder

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I do it, poorly. almost exclusively French in this fandom, and a little Italian. I do my best to check multiple translation sources (from real speakers if possible) and find example sentences to base my grammar on. but again, this is a hobby so I don't hold myself to the same standard I would if I was doing it professionally

currently, it is my favorite kagepro song (this changes like every week but i digress...) and i really want to make a pv for it but i lowkey have no idea where to start

I LOV remind blue. like every kagepro song makes me want to rip my face off ♥️♥️♥️ but this one is one of those that make me feel so strongly that i cant listen to it ♥️♥️♥️ cuz i do that btw. i cannot listen to kagepro songs without preparing myself emotionally and it has to be when i am alone in my room. i could never listen to them in public. that'd be weird. im drawing and suddenly a kagepro song comes on in my playlist and im like this is so fucked up who put this here (<- i did)

i dont particularly care for remind blue so much (LIKE THE SONG SLAPS im still talking about lyrics) bc it's very heavy on the shit abt like growing distant and stuff sortof??? like kagepros ending/str is implied to have the mekadan not grow apart but kinda do their own thing while still meeting to hang out, bc kagepro is also about growing up and with growing up comes maybe growing distant from these friends you love, but they will always be important and one of a kind in ur life and when u meet its like time hasnt rly passed between you. not to mention the whole thing about combining eyes and how all the snakes will always end up gathering by the queen no matter what, meaning the dan will always be bound to make their ways back to each other no matter what, and are connected to one another by the literal narrative that theyre all actually sort of aware of a little bit (they always refer to their tragedy as a "story"..kagepro is a little meta lol). and like that's all so beautiful but also fuck it. they all meet for pizza nights every week. erm. the passage of time am i right

Hello Lauri! How did you know you fell in love with Golden Cheese? What did you think when you first saw her?

S-so, technically, my first time seeing her was the same as most people.....It was in the prologue. Where she had a total of two lines of dialogue.....B-but from there, I was at least able to tell that I liked her design and voice! O-other than that.....d-didn't think much of her, which.....feels CRAZY now.....X/////D

During the long wait for her release, I DID become curious about her, tho.....mostly cuz of the retconned artbook stuff, which is obviously irrelevant now, but....y'know, it did drum up interest in her and get me thinking about her....!

A-as for when I FELL for her....I-I actually made a post about this story on her anniversary back in September, but....I-I'll gladly tell it again for someone new, cuz....it's kinda half a blessing, and half the reason why I avoid story spoilers so much nowadays....

R-rambling warning....!

Wh-when the update went live last year, I...I didn't play the game right away. I instead joined a livestream of this CRK YouTube I follow so that I could watch him play it first, and.....I just happened to join the stream super late. He was in the middle of the final boss of episode 17. Which meant that the first cutscene of that episode that I saw....was the last one.

But....i-it also meant that my first impression of Golden Cheese in her story......was, like, incredible. The BEST first impression possible. I saw her, in her virtual avatar outfit.....Lounging on her throne....Looking so effortlessly gorgeous and powerful.....W-with that amused smirk on her face....a-and that digital effect on her voice......A-and she talked to the main characters as if she was amused at them, taking her "loss" in battle gracefully.....and.....She....a-asked to see them up close, being so incredibly powerful that she controlled the floor they stood on, drawing them closer....and.....she said....

"Shall we take a closer look?"

It was when I heard THAT line, that I started feeling.....s-something.....and the rest of the scene, of her observing the main party, and agreeing to listen to them......that made me realize exactly what was going on.....

Sh-she wasn't how I expected....She wasn't ANYTHING like the fandom commonly portrayed her as.....She wasn't stereotypically tomboyish, she wasn't obnoxiously loud-mouthed or rude or immature.....

I-instead....she was a god queen character.....Who FELT like one.....

I-I didn't realize it immediately, like....for the first few minutes, I thought I was only feeling humbled in her presence cuz of, well....how strong her presence was.....b-but then I went back and watched the rest of the episode, and....like....she didn't have a TON of screentime in episode 17, but....it was enough. I saw enough of her overall demeanor to realize that....."oh no, she's hot" o///////o (Helped by the fact that her "Your god has arrived" line was in the stream too.....)

So, yeah....it happened VERY quickly after her release. X/////D Literally only a couple hours at most. Could've been even faster!

I think the moment that, like, cemented it for me, was reading her bio, specifically that line about how she's always looking for loyal subjects to "call her own" - which, that one line was the inspiration for MUOM, BTW, no joke- that line put the idea of "anyone can be hers" in my head, which led to me getting the idea for the fic >//////< - but even before I read her bio, I was already falling hard. Her dialogue, her voice, and her overall demeanor were the things that really started it. I had a veeeeeery good first impression.....a-and......th-that's what did it.....

I-it wasn't QUITE love at first sight, cuz the prologue kinda undoes that....b-but it was kinda like.....love at first encounter. Significant encounter.....a-and it kinda snowballed from there, heheh.....>///////>

Yessss. I get to see the comic. Okay I'll give you a few book recommendations. 1st: "If we were villains" by M. L. Rio. This book is popular I think? It's not unknown. It's about a group of friends who are all actors in an art school. Things get heated and one morning one of them is found dead in the lake. I can't describe it that well, but trust me. This book destroyed my life but it's so fucking good.

2nd: "They both die at the end" by Adam Silvera. Also popular. There's this organization called 'Death Cast' who calls people when they die in the next 24 hours. The book is about two young boys, one is 18 and the other one is 17, who both got the call. They don't know each other but decide to spend their last day together and live their whole life in just one day. It's also queer. While you know how this book ends, it hits you right in the face out of nowhere. You don't see it coming. This one also destroyed my life, but it was totally worth it.

3rd: "Ella Minnow Pea" by Mark Dunn. Kinda popular? Okay wow I only read popular books. Sorry if you know them already. Anyway. There's this tiny Island and the people living there praise language like a god. They have this monument with this famous sentence 'the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy frog." One day a letter falls off. Their government decides it's a sign and forbids the use of this fallen letter. Over time, more and more letters fall off, and their society falls too.

The rain held off for our hour, and then recommenced.  Everyone demonstrated great attitudes!!  We enjoyed the company of Clara because she would rather be here than go to a very puddly track workout.

It seemed that most everyone liked the workout.  Nearly everyone stayed and did the Cool-Down Triceps work.  Warren A stormed out early, but that was because he had to cook shrimp taco’s at his house.

Kayla brought home-made pickles in Mason Jars.  She brought just enough to satisfy her very few friends, but not enough to win her any new friends.  Miss Linda already tasted them and declared them excellent.  I’ll taste later.  Did Kayla take pictures and post them on Instagram?  

BTW, Kayla announced another new boy-friend tonight.  I think he’s the 14th in the 15 months since she has been coming to LHCF.  Apparently this dude is some kind of counselor of people with behavior problems and practices his sessions before a full-length mirror.  Also his TENDER account says he is a serious workout athlete, but is shorter than she.  Kayla promises that their 1st date will be at the Barn so we can peruse his portfolio.  You gotta hand it to that girl.  She’s Brave.  I hope he is favored enough to at least get some home-made pickles.
