“Take your shoes off! Do not run in the house! Diego, be careful!” Carlos shouts as the door flings open and Carlos’ nephews run into the house. You look up from your book seeing the two boys taking their shoes off and hastily putting them by the door as they struggle to get their jackets off. You giggle as you put your book to the side. “Do you b–”

“Y/N!!!!” The boys shout. Jackets be damned, they rush to you as you laugh loudly. Bracing yourself, they hug your legs tightly as you ruffle their hair before rubbing their backs. “Hi boys!” You crouch down to be at their eye level while helping them with their jackets as they ramble on about the car ride with uncle Carlos and how they were so excited to spend the evening with tío Carlos and tía Y/N. You giggle listening to them as you see Carlos closing the door while holding the boys backpacks. He puts them down as he takes his shoes off before making his way over “Though we have to eat dinner first.”

“¡Tío Carlos!” The boys whine and Carlos shakes his head. “No. No if and or buts, we told you mamá that we would eat dinner first and no. We are not having fast food.” You giggle as the boys groan and whine while looking at Carlos. You gently run your fingers through the boys' hair as they hug your leg pouting up at you to see if you, their favorite tía and savior, could convince tío Carlos that fast food for dinner would be fine.

“No,” you start breaking the poor boys' hearts, “Tío Carlos is right. We can’t have fast food for dinner and if you two promised mamá you’d have dinner before baking cookies then we’re going to have dinner before having cookies. But,” you continue as the boys tilt their head slightly, curious as to the compromise, “maybe if you ask nicely maybe tío Carlos will make some seafood paella and if you ask real nicely, you can help him.” You whisper to the boys and smile as they gasp and look at each other, as if Carlos did not hear your plan which he did, but he would play along.

“Tío Carlos,” Marco, the younger nephew, starts while still hugging your leg, “¿Podemos cenar paella de marisco?” He asks. “¡Puedo ayudar! ¿Puedo ayudar?” Diego adds on. Carlos pretends to think about it as he glances up. He hums in “thought” while rubbing his chin slightly. “I mean.” He looks at the boys then away dramatically as he thinks. You cover your mouth to hide your giggle as the boys wait for an answer though they can’t help giggling at Carlos' overdramatic motions.

“I suppose we could have some paella de marisco for dinner.” Carlos explains as Marco grins, “and I could use some helpers…” He lets his voice trails off as Diego follows Carlos, going on about how he can help. “Do you want to go help Carlos and Diego with dinner?” You ask Marco who’s still hugging your leg as he shakes his head. Leaning down, you grunt as you pick Marco up, resting him on your hip. “Hmmm.” You tap your finger against your lip in thought, “well I mean I do need to finish decorating the Christmas tree.” Dropping your voice, “and I do need to wrap tío’s Christmas present. Do you think you could help me?” Marco nods excitedly. “Perfect! Let’s go.”

The afternoon flew by. You and Marco stayed in the formal living room decorating the Christmas tree and decorating the formal living room. Then you carefully pull out Carlos gifts and the wrapping paper while Diego and Carlos are across the house in the kitchen, singing and cooking together. You hear Carlos gently chide Diego to be more mindful around the kitchen so he doesn’t get hurt. You can’t help but smile hearing him while Macro is laying out the wrapping paper before half playing lookout and half helping you tape the presents up. You let Marco pick out the tags for the presents as you write the names before Carlos (and Diego) are calling you and Marco to dinner. You decide to worry about organizing the presents after.

When dinner finishes, the boys offer to help clean up only because it means they can get to baking cookies after. Once everything is away, the boys rush over to you while you roll the dough out. You giggle as the boys are trying to peek over the counter before Carlos produces two chairs for the boys to stand on. You finish rolling the dough out and gently lay out the vast Christmas cutters. You let the boys by taking the excess dough before rolling it out as Carlos takes the cookies that the boys cut out onto a tray. It’s a system that worked out until both trays were in the oven to bake. You guys then play games with the boys before Carlos takes the cookies out of the oven and the cycle begins again.

When the cookies finally cool enough, you help the boys with decorating the cookies. Somehow, you get some frosting on your face when Carlos calls you. You stare at him, blinking as he’s trying not to laugh before he wipes the frosting off your nose. You giggle softly before looking back down seeing the boys covered in frosting and sprinkles. You make the mistake of trying to help them which in turn gets you covered in frosting and sprinkles. You look at Carlos, who is not before taking some frosting off the knife and smearing it on his cheek. You lean back, grinning before gasping when Carlos returns the favor. The boys watch the two of you before most of the frosting ends up on each other rather than the cookies. 

“Oh my sister is going to kill us.” Carlos whispers as you two box the cookies up but the boys look so happy as they try to clean themselves up. You glance at them and giggle before looking back at Carlos. “Whoops?” 

Carlos looks and smiles before looking back. “It’s worth the risk. Do you want to come with me to drop them off?” He asks.

“If only to save you from your sister trying to murder you? Yes absolutely.”

Sonic the Hedgehog Issue #12

Description: After Dr. Robotnik sends Sonic back in time to the stone age, the freedom fighters exact a surprise attack against him (most likely to stop Dr. Robotnik from cutting down more forest trees and harming Mobius's environment). Tails points ahead at their target(s), yelling, "Forward for Sonic...and for our cause!" Presumably, although Tails is also fighting for the freedom fighter's cause, he is primarily choosing to fight Dr. Robotnik for what he did to Sonic.

Sonic the Hedgehog Issue #13

Description: After Dr. Robotnik flees the floating island, Tails asks Knuckles about his and Sonic's plane. Knuckles reveals that he'd already gathered the pieces of the trashed plane, and Sonic uses his trademark speed to put it back together. With that endeared, half lidded look, Tails calls Sonic a showoff.

Sonic the Hedgehog Issue #14

Description: Believing that Sonic is in danger due to a large, sentient flower which seems to be restraining the hedgehog, Tails moves to act Sonic and save him. However, in reality, it just turns out that the sentient flower is a "passion flower", which grabbed Sonic and began to give him affection when he tried to water it.

Description: After the misunderstanding, Sonic makes an offer to Tails, telling him that he can take over for him on something if he wants to help. Tails cuts Sonic off before he can say what the "something" is with a speech about how amazing it is that Sonic, his hero, would ask him of all people to temporarily fill in for him as leader of the freedom fighters. This annoys Sonic, who clarifies that he was telling Tails that he could take over for him by watering Rotor's plants, and tells the fox that he's not ready to be a leader yet.

Description: Sonic and Tails going fishing together during the "Do It Yourself" comic contest.

Description: In the process of escaping from Dr. Robotnik and his whale robot (sub?) during the events of the "Do it Yourself" comic story, the two row their boat onto land, thus causing the mechanical whale to crash. After this, Tails takes a picture of Sonic as he poses next to the tail of the mechanical whale.

Sonic the Hedgehog Issue #15

Description: In the process of trying (and failing) to remember which of the magical stones gives him brief special powers, Sonic is left only with the green stone of super strength. Due to this, he has to come up with another plan to save the freedom fighters from the clutches of Dr. Robotnik's beetle shaped robot. When Sonic briefly leaves their sight to enact his plan, it's Sally who assumes that Sonic has abandoned them while Tails calls for Sonic to come back. After Sonic swats Dr. Robotnik's robot like a fly, thus freeing the freedom fighters, he helps Sally (and Tails by proxy) off of the claw they had been previously trapped in. While Sally chooses to change topic, asking where Sonic got his special powers from, Tails proclaims that what Sonic did was "way cool" and that he always knew Sonic would come through for them.

Description: As Rotor is cooped up in his lab working on an invention that will "benefit all animal kind", the rest of the freedom fighters attempt to guess what it is he's working on. Sonic, specifically, guesses a nuclear powered skateboard. In his fantasy of riding a nuclear powered skateboard, we can see that he's imagined Tails flying alongside him.

Day Thirteen: Klaus Mikealson + Die Hard

“It’s not a Christmas movie love.” Your boyfriend counters as he rounds the island in the middle of the kitchen. Rolling your eyes you scoff at him, you two had been arguing about whether or not a certain movie was either a Christmas or action movie.

Why the verbal fight had started you don’t remember. You just know that you’re standing by what you told Klaus. Die Hard is one hundred percent a Christmas movie.

“What doesn’t make it a Christmas movie, huh?” You ask him crossing your arms over your chest getting more and more fessed up with the argument at hand. “Well for starters….” Then the silence takes over your kitchen.

The breeze from outdoors filters in. The French quarter compound is open with lots of space for the Mikealson family to live with all of their significant others and family.

“See your silence is a tell tale sign you don’t know shit. The movie starts off with the office having a literal Christmas party, sure it’s not in any way connected to the main storyline but it snows at the end doesn’t it?” You ask into the air.

Klaus eyes furrow down ward giving his face an odd shape. “Are you asking me if the movie I have seen many times a year has a snow scene at the end?” Klaus asks you totally ignoring your rambling talking from elalier.

You nod, humming as you grab a packet of popcorn from the cabinet. “I for sure know it doesn’t have a snow scene, it’s cause of the decorations anyways.” You can still hear him as you unwrap the popcorn bag and lay it flat on the tray inside the microwave.

With ease you glide back into the conversation after pressing the handy popcorn button on your microwave. “Are you sure? Mister I’ve seen that movie so many times.” You’re the only one to ever ever be able to talk to Klaus in such a way like this. This was your friendly banter, the teasing that had drawn you two each other nearly four years ago.

He loves this side of you, and sometimes he hates it. Hates how you manage to get under his skin without even trying. “Are you suggesting I don’t know the movie?” He counters arching a brow. Your conversation is paused when the microwave beeps and you have to gather a bowl from underneath the drawers.

As you shuffle popcorn into the bowl, you look at Klaus. “I am, but I bet there’s a way to redeem yourself.” You tease. It’s his turn to roll his eyes at you. “How about we just watch the movie, and then we will actually be able to see.” You say’s crumbling up the useless bag.

It’s a quick nod from Klaus and off to the couch you are. “We are only watching the first one.” He says like he actually means that. Once he’s seems the first he’s got to watch the second. You know the drill because it’s always the same with Klaus Mikealson.

The both of you get comfy on the old couch with your dozens of blankets and pillows. Snuggled up together you forget about the argument in the kitchen as you recall lines that are your absolute favorite. It’s not until Hans is falling to his death and the main chapters are sitting the back of the limo does it remind you of your little bet.

The song starts to play and when there’s no snow. Klaus jumps up in excitement having won a bet where he had nothing to lose you shush him. Letting the tv roll the credits. “Whatever!” “I was oh so right, hmm I wonder what you should owe me for that lost bet.” Klaus smirks. “Nothing I owe you nothing cause it wasn’t a bet, just simple banter, now came down here and watch the next one with me.” You beg Klaus. Fluttering your beautiful eyes up at him. He scoffs and rolls his eyes before climbing back onto the couch with you.

An hour into the second one you hear the tiniest, quietest “I was right!” Come from beside you this time you don’t think twice about grabbing the pillow and chucking in to Klaus face.

The Journey Home

“Sister?” Julienne started from the trance she’d slipped into at the gentle hand on her arm. “You look ready for bed,” Nurse Crane observed as she sat down next to her on the benches that were lining the wall of the village hall. 

“I will admit that I am not perhaps designed for such late night festivities,” she admitted. The ceilidh was a joyous thing and it was an honour to have been invited, but Julienne was finding the noise and the light a little much. 

“Is something the matter,” the other woman asked, offering her the teacup she was holding. 

“I’m sure it’s nothing,” Julienne said, shaking her head.

“You still haven’t shaken the last of that bug have you?” Phyllis asked, her gaze becoming more pointed. 

“I will admit that I’m a little weary,” she admitted. “But nothing that a good night’s sleep will not resolve.”

“I won’t say I’m not looking forward to my own bed,” Phyllis admitted as they watched the others dancing. “But if you want to make an early exit…” 

 It was a sorely tempting idea, not least as Julienne’s head was beginning to pound in time with the music.
