Chapter 4:
Masterlist
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
My eyes immediately went to my phone, which was lighting up. I chuckled as soon as I saw the name of the person sending me a message. I unlocked my phone using Face ID and checked the message. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw a picture of Yeji.
Yeji (20:12): You're a simp.
Me (20:12): You're a buzzkill.
Yeji (20:12): Says the person who lost on purpose!
Me (20:13): Well... there were reasons for that! I didn't want to embarrass you too much.
I laughed a bit as I saw Yeji typing, but it seemed she kept deleting her messages. Feeling confident, I looked around. I spotted Yeji sitting at a table, and my eyebrows raised. Yeji looked at me, and our eyes met for a few seconds. She then stuck her tongue out at me.
Yeji (20:15): Loser.
This made me laugh, and both Haewon and Yunjin looked at me with curiosity. Yunjin, who was next to me, leaned in and glanced at my phone. Her eyes widened in surprise. "You have Yeji-Sunbaenim's number?" she asked, visibly shocked. My head tilted to the side inquisitively. "You don't?" I asked, to which Yunjin shook her head.
I chuckled as I shrugged my shoulders. My attention went back to my phone as another message came in.
Yeji (20:19): Don't freak out. Take a deep breath first.
Yeji (20:19): Mamamoo is here.
My eyes widened, and I immediately looked at Yeji. She was currently talking to Chaeryeong. My head was practically spinning. Where? Where was Mamamoo?!
"Unnie?" Hanni asked, clearly confused by my frantic movements. She had noticed that I was trying to find someone. My face twisted in stress as I could already feel my heart pounding with excitement. "Mamamoo is here!" I squeaked out quietly.
Hanni's eyes widened. "Really? Where exactly?" she asked, smiling slightly. I think everyone knew that Mamamoo were my absolute favorite people. I had only spoken to them once, but it was very brief. I really wanted to get to know all of them better.
"I don't know. Yeji messaged me, look," I said as I unlocked my phone, and immediately the chat with Yeji was open. My eyes landed on Yeji's latest message, and my mouth fell open.
Yeji (20:29): Why are you so easy to fool?
I stared at my phone with my mouth agape and then back at Yeji. She had apparently been watching me the whole time. She laughed and even clapped her hands. She was really enjoying this.
But now, I was genuinely disappointed. I placed my phone on the table with the screen facing down. My phone vibrated, but I ignored it. I crossed my arms in front of my chest. Hanni looked at me. "So? Where?" she asked, but I just stared at her with narrowed eyes.
Hanni immediately looked away from me when she noticed my mood.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeji (22:03): Are you mad?
Yeji (22:06): I'm sorry, Y/n.
Yeji (22:07): Can you please reply?
Me (22:09): Might as well slap me in the face instead of fooling me like that.
Yeji (22:09): Seriously? I didn't think you were this sensitive.
Me (22:12): It's MAMAMOO! Why are you giving me false hope? Why are you toying with my heart like this?
Yeji (22:12): 😮
Suddenly, my phone rang, and I noticed that Yeji was initiating a FaceTime call. I accepted it immediately. I pushed my headset, which was on my head, down a bit and put one of my AirPods in my ear. My eyes were fixed on Yeji, who had a small lamp next to her. It seemed she was lying on her bed.
"Are you really mad?" she asked, pouting slightly. I looked at her, my mouth slightly open. My controller was in my hand, indicating it was connected to my PlayStation. I swallowed slightly, almost forgetting about the game entirely and just focusing on Yeji.
"Not anymore," I replied softly, which made Yeji smile. She sat up. "Good. I don't like it when you're mad at me," the older one said, which made me chuckle. I took off my headset and moved my other AirPod to my other ear.
"I've never been mad at you. So how can you not like something that's never happened?" I asked curiously, raising an eyebrow. Yeji rolled her eyes but laughed a bit. "I don't like the thought of it," she replied, which surprised me.
I needed a moment to process that. "I'm sorry. Am I just too gay, or... are you flirting with me right now?" I asked, which made Yeji burst into laughter. She quickly covered her mouth when she heard Lia mumbling something next to her. She held a finger to her pursed lips. "I have to be quiet, Y/n," she whispered, and I nodded in understanding.
I placed the controller aside. I had already been kicked out of the game due to inactivity. I grabbed my phone, a small smile on my face as I just looked at her. Yeji turned her head and pointed to her earphones, indicating she could hear me perfectly.
I smiled a bit wider. I stood up from my gaming chair and went over to my bed. Yuna was lying on it, her mouth slightly open as she breathed softly. I turned the camera around. "Did you know that Yuna sleeps like a log?" I asked, and I heard an interested hum from the other end.
I gently touched her cheek with my finger. "Y/n," Yeji said, laughing lightly. I couldn't help but laugh along. I turned the camera back towards me. I settled back on my bed, covering my legs. My eyes were fixed on Yeji as I lay down. I held my phone above me, hoping it wouldn't slip out of my hand.
"I won't be in Japan until tomorrow," I said with a quiet sigh.
Yeji's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? We'll be there too," she replied, which honestly surprised me. My face lit up a bit. "Is... Ryujin there too?" I asked, a bit nervous. Yeji looked at me for what felt like an eternity, taking a deep breath. "Of course. How about we meet up for a meal?" the older one asked curiously.
"Aww. Is that an apology?" I teased, amused. I sat up on my bed and covered my legs. My eyes were locked on Yeji as I lay down again, holding my phone up. Hopefully, it wouldn't slip out of my hand.
"Maybe. I knew you liked Mamamoo, but I didn't expect you to get so excited. I really didn't," Yeji said, chuckling lightly. "But thank you. The video turned out pretty cute," she added, making my eyes widen a bit. I looked at her. "Video?" I asked, and Yeji bit her lip.
I chuckled. "Send me the video," I demanded, and Yeji shook her head vigorously. I laughed. "I didn't know you became a reporter, Miss Hwang Yeji," I said with a teasing grin, making Yeji hesitate. She stared at me for quite some time until I received a message. Yeji had sent me the video.
I watched it and couldn't help but laugh. I looked like a lost puppy excitedly looking for its mother. It was kind of funny. I looked really excited.
"Wow. I look pretty excited. How could you break my heart like this?" I asked, making Yeji burst into laughter. I laughed along. I smiled at her until I started to yawn. Yeji yawned too, and her yawn infected me as well. My eyes went to the clock. "Wow... we've been on the call for 3 hours already," I said softly. Yeji seemed to check the time on her end too.
"It's late," she said, and I nodded, agreeing. "What time is your flight?" I asked. Yeji yawned once more, and this time, it made me yawn too. "7 AM," she replied, and I nodded in understanding. "Then you'll probably be there earlier. We're flying in the afternoon," I replied.
We both fell into a comfortable silence again. Yeji sighed with amusement, which I mimicked. We seemed to be staring at each other for what felt like an eternity. The blanket was pulled up to my chin as I lay on my side. Yeji also lay on her side. I couldn't help but chuckle. "Somehow... it feels like we're sleeping together," I said softly, which made Yeji smile.
"I feel the same way."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With a cap on my head and my hoodie pulled up, I pushed my suitcase alongside me. My manager was right beside me, repeatedly trying to take my suitcase from me. However, I didn't allow it. It had become a bit of a cat and mouse game with him. Every time he attempted to take my suitcase, I quickened my pace.
"Y/N!" someone shouted, causing me to stop and look toward the person. I smiled when I saw a fan holding their phone. Our manager had set up a barricade to keep the fans in check. I made my way over to the fan since the others were still further back.
"Can I take a photo with you?" the young man asked, and I nodded immediately. I positioned myself as close to him as possible. This time, my manager managed to take my suitcase. I took a photo with the fan, and the others around us also requested photos and autographs.
Haewon, Yunjin, Hanni, and Yuna also approached and interacted with the fans. Suddenly, someone said to Yuna, "Come here, bitch," in English. My forehead immediately furrowed as I looked at the person. The woman chuckled a bit. "No swear words, please," I immediately said, which made her eyes widen.
She looked at me, now with her mouth open in surprise. "I was just joking," she said. She spoke in English, apparently a tourist.
She looked at me. "Can I take a photo with you?" she asked, her cheeks turning red. I put on a smile. "No, thank you," I replied, which seemed to shock her even more. Shortly after, I moved away from her and went to another fan. I took some pictures with them and gave autographs to each one of them.

MagSafe and Lightning: Which Charging Method is Better?
https://vidvietech.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/3-11-1024x683.webp
MagSafe and Lightning are two important charging technologies designed for Apple devices, each serving a unique purpose. MagSafe is a magnetic wireless charging solution, while Lightning is a traditional wired connection used in many Apple devices, including iPhones and iPads. Both have their strengths, but which one is better for iPhone users?
Understanding the key differences between MagSafe and Lightning is crucial when deciding which option best fits your charging needs. This article will break down how each technology works, comparing factors like speed, convenience, and compatibility, to help you make an informed decision.
What does Magsafe Mean?
MagSafe is Apple’s magnetic wireless charging solution, designed to make charging more efficient and convenient. It uses built-in magnets that perfectly align the charger with your device for optimal charging speed, reducing the chances of misalignment or connection issues. One of its standout features is the ability to wirelessly charge while still being compatible with accessories, like MagSafe wallets and cases, which snap on seamlessly.
MagSafe is available on iPhone models starting from the iPhone 12 and up, including the iPhone 13, 14, and 15 series. Compared to other wireless charging solutions, MagSafe is faster and more reliable, making it a popular choice for users who value convenience and functionality.
What is Lightning?
Lightning is Apple’s proprietary wired charging and data transfer port, first introduced in 2012 with the iPhone 5. It quickly became the standard for many Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, AirPods, and accessories. One of Lightning’s strengths is its versatility. It supports fast charging and provides a stable connection for data transfer, which makes it efficient for syncing and charging simultaneously.
Lightning is widely compatible with numerous accessories and adapters that many Apple users already own, offering great convenience for those who have invested in the Apple ecosystem. Its reliability and speed have made it a trusted solution for years, but with the rise of wireless technologies, like MagSafe, some users might be considering the shift.
Charging Speed: MagSafe vs. Lightning
When it comes to charging speed, MagSafe and Lightning offer different capabilities tailored to user needs. MagSafe, Apple’s magnetic wireless charging solution, supports charging speeds of up to 15W for compatible iPhones like the iPhone 12 and newer models. This ensures efficient wireless charging without the hassle of cables, providing convenience and ease of use.
On the other hand, Lightning excels in wired charging, where it can achieve faster charging speeds, especially when paired with a high-wattage adapter. This makes Lightning ideal for users who prioritize rapid charging times and need their devices powered up quickly.
In real-world scenarios, the choice between MagSafe and Lightning often boils down to personal preference and specific use cases. MagSafe offers the advantage of wireless convenience and stable charging, while Lightning provides faster charging speeds when using the appropriate adapters. Understanding these differences helps users make informed decisions based on their charging priorities and device requirements.
Durability and Longevity
Lightning cables, though widely used for Apple devices, are known for wear and tear over time. Frequent bending and pulling can cause damage, especially near the connectors, leading to frayed or broken wires. This makes the durability of Lightning cables a concern for users who rely on them for both charging and data transfer on a daily basis.
MagSafe, with its wireless design, avoids the direct strain on cables that Lightning suffers from. The magnetic attachment ensures proper alignment and avoids the tugging that can damage traditional cables. However, MagSafe still requires a cable to connect the charging pad to the power source, which can experience wear similar to Lightning cables over time.
When comparing the longevity of the two technologies, Lightning may wear out faster due to cable strain, while MagSafe’s wireless nature offers a longer lifespan for the charger itself. However, both technologies are subject to daily wear, and their longevity depends largely on how carefully they are used.
Accessory Compatibility
MagSafe and Lightning both support a variety of accessories, but they serve different user needs. MagSafe, Apple’s magnetic charging technology, seamlessly works with protective cases, wallets, and battery packs. The magnetic alignment makes it easy to snap accessories on and off, offering convenience for everyday use. For example, users can charge their iPhone while keeping a wallet attached or use a MagSafe-compatible battery pack without needing to connect cables.
Lightning, on the other hand, has a wider ecosystem of traditional accessories. It’s compatible with wired headphones, charging docks, car adapters, and a variety of third-party products like speakers and earbuds. This makes Lightning a more versatile choice for users who rely on older accessories or prefer wired connections.
In some cases, users may prefer MagSafe for wireless convenience and compatibility with modern accessories. For example, if you want to charge your phone and attach a wallet at the same time, MagSafe is the go-to. Lightning, however, is ideal for situations where fast charging or data transfer is necessary, like quickly charging your device while listening to music on wired headphones.
Cost Consideration
When considering cost, both MagSafe and Lightning present different expenses for users. MagSafe chargers and compatible accessories, like cases and battery packs, tend to be more expensive due to the wireless and magnetic technology. For example, MagSafe chargers typically cost more upfront compared to standard Lightning cables. Additionally, accessories designed specifically for MagSafe, like the MagSafe-compatible wallet or battery pack, add to the total expense.
Lightning, on the other hand, is a more cost-effective option for basic charging needs. Lightning cables and accessories are widely available, often at lower prices. Many users already own Lightning cables and chargers, making it a less expensive option to replace or upgrade compared to adopting MagSafe. However, users should also consider the long-term cost of replacing Lightning cables, which are more prone to wear and tear.
When comparing the two, the cost ultimately depends on user needs. If wireless convenience and modern accessory compatibility are priorities, the higher cost of MagSafe might be worth it. On the other hand, if affordability and existing accessory support are more important, Lightning remains the better budget-friendly choice.
Which One Should You Choose?
MagSafe is perfect for those who value wireless convenience, sleek design, and a strong ecosystem of accessories like magnetic cases and wallets. It’s also a great choice if you prefer clutter-free charging, as it eliminates the need for cables. However, it comes with a higher price point and slower charging speeds (up to 15W), which might be a drawback for some users who prioritize quick charging.
Lightning, on the other hand, is widely supported, affordable, and offers faster charging speeds when paired with high-wattage adapters. It’s an excellent option for users who already have a variety of Lightning-compatible accessories, like headphones and charging docks. The downside, however, is that the cables can wear out over time, and it doesn’t offer the wireless convenience that MagSafe provides.

Summarize
In summary, MagSafe offers the convenience of wireless charging and easy magnetic alignment, making it ideal for users who want a cable-free experience and compatibility with modern accessories. On the other hand, Lightning provides faster charging and wide compatibility with a range of existing Apple devices and accessories.
When choosing between the two, it ultimately depends on your priorities: MagSafe is more convenient and future-proof, especially as Apple may expand its ecosystem, while Lightning is still very important for those who need quick charging and use traditional accessories.
Choose the technology that best fits your lifestyle and charging needs!
FAQs about MagSafe and Lightning
Can I use a Lightning cable with a MagSafe case?
Yes, you can still use a Lightning cable to charge your iPhone even if you have a MagSafe case. The MagSafe case is designed to support both MagSafe wireless charging and wired charging through the Lightning port.
Which charges faster, MagSafe or Lightning?
Lightning charges faster than MagSafe. With a compatible fast charger, Lightning can charge your device at higher speeds than MagSafe, which is limited to 15W. However, MagSafe offers the convenience of wireless charging.
Are all iPhone models compatible with MagSafe?
No, only iPhone 12 models and later support MagSafe technology. Older iPhones are not compatible with MagSafe, but they can still use the Lightning cable for charging.

Show Summary
In this episode of In Touch with iOS, we delve deep into the recent Apple event where key announcements regarding the iPhone 16 lineup and the latest Apple Watch were unveiled. Joined by regulars Guy Serle, Chuck Joiner, Jeff Gamet, and Marty Jencius, we interchange thoughts and opinions on the significant advancements and features introduced in Apple's latest hardware.
We kick off by discussing iOS 18 and the release candidates for both iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, noting the upcoming launch despite having installed the beta versions. Marty shares insights from his early experience with the beta, describing some subtle changes he's noticed, while others like Jeff voice their skepticism about the beta program, encouraging users to approach beta software cautiously, particularly on primary devices. The conversation transitions into the newly announced iPhone 16 models, with both Guy and Chuck contemplating their upgrade options. Interesting features discussed include the new action button and advanced camera controls that come with the new models, as well as the impressive performance boost from the new A18 chip.
As we dive deeper into the iPhone 16 specifications, we explore the pros and cons of the Pro and Pro Max versions, particularly around the stunning new camera technology including improved sensor sizes and capabilities. Our group debates the practicalities and whether enhanced features justify the upgrades, especially contemplating if it’s worth moving from existing models like the iPhone 12 or 13.
The discussion then shifts to the Apple Watch, where we touch on the Series 10's new design, performance enhancements, and exciting battery improvements. The group reflects on whether Apple should have refreshed the Ultra and SE models or if this is a sign that they're taking a more focused marketing approach. The new Apple Watch’s features prompt discussions around personal lifestyle needs and preferences, and how the market has evolved since the Watch's inception.
Moving on to other product updates, we discuss the refreshed AirPods 4, talking about the introduction of USB-C and the potential of the new hearing aid functions in the AirPods Pro 2. There's a shared sense of curiosity about how these features could disrupt the hearing aid market.
Additionally, the episode highlights some important news surrounding Goldman Sachs' collaboration with Apple regarding the Apple Card, with concerns surrounding their financial viability. The lengthy discussion about Apple Mail also sheds light on its perceived limitations and how even with new features in iOS 18, it might not sway users from better third-party email clients.
Finally,Dave now has a Vision Pro and gives his first impressions after 4 days of use. its exciting software updates, generating a tease of curiosity among the group about how this device may shape future interactions and integrations with existing Apple ecosystems. Overall, the episode is filled with insightful conversations and thoughtful reflections on how Apple's recent announcements may influence our tech lives going forward.
