This first picture is from last week, right before I was admitted to the hospital for postpartum preeclampsia/hypertension. You don’t see it, but apparently I was really sick. We have had the craziest few weeks, with my body going haywire postpartum, breastfeeding issues (seriously, who doesn’t have these), baby losing too much weight, and just a zillion close calls and hospital stays. But through it all, my darling baby Gemma has been an angel, and my husband @evan_schiller a rock. Every time we’ve had to go to the hospital, it seems like Gemma gets that she has to be on her best behaviour. And Evan has just soothed and comforted and been such a support for both of us. 👶HP UPDATE👶 He's gained almost a pound now, and he's past his newborn check-ups. At night, I have trouble not fussing over him when he fusses. I need him to know that mommy will always be there for him, always take care of him. I co-sleep him at an incline for his reflux, in my arms so that when he opens his eyes, there is mommy. We have a pillow nest that perfectly cocoons us separately, but not totally apart. Bun and I are exhausted, and sleep is something taken when the opportunity arises. We're learning, and we're grateful for the help, the love, and the food.
