I would like help finding a fic I read back in 2022!
It was on ao3 and was multi chapter. Steve and Eddie were together, and living in a bigger city (perhaps Chicago but I’m not sure). They had been together a long time and the focus of the story was I think when they are both in their 40s?
It was pretty angsty overall but the main thing I remember is that it had an unhappy ending. Eddie and Steve have a conversation towards the end of the fic where Steve asks if Eddie is happy and he says that he isn’t. Eddie tells him he feels trapped (or something very similar) and moves out.
I also recall that Steve was hopeful that they would get back together after seeing Eddie post breakup, but they didn’t. Not sure if it was part of a series or not
Request 1220! Send us an ask if you recognize this fic!

REBLOG: from silentagecinema FILM Pandora and the flying Dutchman (1951) (1220)
Pandora and the Flying Dutchman is a 1951British Technicolor romantic fantasy drama film written and directed by Albert Lewin. The screenplay is based on legend of the Flying Dutchman.
What to make of the title. Understanding the title will make you understand better the film.
The title “Pandora and the Flying Dutchman” is quite intriguing and symbolic. It combines two mythological references:
Pandora: In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman created by the gods, and she is known for opening a box (or jar) that released all the evils into the world, leaving only hope inside. In the film, Pandora Reynolds, played by Ava Gardner, is a woman who seems to bring turmoil to the lives of the men who fall in love with her, much like the mythological Pandora.
The Flying Dutchman: This is a legendary ghost ship doomed to sail the oceans forever, unable to make port. The captain of the ship, Hendrik van der Zee, played by James Mason, is cursed to wander the seas until he finds a woman who loves him enough to die for him, breaking the curse.
The title reflects the central themes of the film: the intertwining of fate, love, and eternal damnation. Pandora’s character represents a modern-day Pandora, whose actions and choices have significant consequences, while the Flying Dutchman symbolizes the eternal quest for redemption and true love.
It’s a poetic and evocative title that sets the tone for the romantic and mystical narrative of the film. (AI Copilot)
The movie was primarily filmed in Tossa de Mar, on the Costa Brava in Catalonia, Spain. The land record speed scenes were shot at Pendine Sands in Wales. The film is mostly spoken in English, but some characters speak Catalan (the local fishermen at the beginning of the film) and Spanish (the bullfighter's entourage).
Eva Gardner in this movie comes across like the image of the goddess she portrays. She is exquisite in her demeanor and beauty but found her acting a little stiff. However, having to make a choice, I would vote for the woman she embodies.

"Oh, how am I to know, If it's really love, That's found its way here? Oh, how am I to know, Will it linger on, And leave me then? I dare not guess, At this strange happiness, For, oh, How am I to know, Can it be that love, Has come to stay here?"
A seductive woman falls in love with a mysterious ship's captain.
