I think it’s boring when people do genderbends and only slap a bow or something on them and go “look my genderbend!!” Mockingly, especially if they’re going from male to female. Because there’s a lot of artistic liberties you can take with genderbends (both in writing and drawing) while still making them their core character. I’ve talked about this before but yeah my version of a female Genya is feminine, she has long hair, she enjoys makeup, she enjoys pretty clothing, she enjoys hair accessories she likes the idea of being married and settled down after she reconciles with Sanemi.

She is also muscular, I’ve always particularly imagined either version of Genya with a runners body build whereas Sanemi has more of a bodybuilder build. She is battle strategic, she can be harsh and she is most definitely blunt.

But all of this stems from canon Genya’s interests?? Canon Genya already has long hair to help with his aiming, he is proud of his scars/looks because sanemi is and because he carries around a mirror, genya is described as being blunt and harsh even after he regains his gentle nature, Genya never says anything about not wanting to settle down and have children, he just wanted to reconcile with Sanemi more.

Like don’t get me wrong I absolutely understand the stigma/hate against it, more often than not genderbends are just used to sexualize characters and strip them of their core aspects and etc etc we’ve all seen a bad one. But they’re literally just versions of character redesign and they’re fun if you do them right.
