Matthew Goode has another ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ cameo part as Joe Hunt - a history teacher.  I had to laugh when he was cast, after a few years of me saying that Matthew looks like a cute history teacher, he goes and plays a history teacher (who is definitely cute coz Matthew plays him!)   He is only in two very short scenes but as ever he is memorable.  He just nails the ‘old boys school’ private school teacher.  He is slightly sarcastic, a little quirky with his use of a cricket ball in class but also a thoughtful and charismatic teacher.  Not a lot for Matthew to work with but he does it well.  Oh and AT LAST he gets to use one of his special skills.  Matthew played county cricket for Devon as a schoolboy and it is even listed on his CV - so I wonder if that got him the part? 

A nice little cameo part.  Probably a day to film and then home to the kids.  Result for matthew!

Lennon and McCartney receive five Ivor Novello awards

On behalf of him and John Lennon, Paul McCartney accepted five Ivor Novello awards during a luncheon at the Savoy Hotel on the Strand, London.

The ceremony was presented by David Frost, and the awards were given to McCartney by Sir Billy Butlin. McCartney arrived 40 minutes late after forgetting about the event.

Lennon, meanwhile, chose not to attend after the fuss caused by The Beatles being awarded MBEs. In recognition of this, McCartney accepted one of the awards with the words, “Thanks. I hope nobody sends theirs back now.”

McCartney’s acceptance and subsequent speech was filmed by cameras from Rediffusion. The event was broadcast between 10.30pm and 11.05pm during a show called Pick Of The Songs.

Forgot to say that 'Official Secrets' is Radio Times com 'Film of the Day' on BBC2 at 11.05pm tonight and then on BBC I player after that.

Matthew Goode is a supporting actor in this one, playing Guardian journalist Peter Beaumont, and does a solid job as usual.  He’s in 7/8 scenes throughout the movie, mainly with his friend, Matt Smith, who plays fellow journalist Martin Bright.  Even if Matthew doesn’t have lines he’s wandering about in the background - oh and was that one of your dodgy funny walks I spotted Matthew??  There are tiny touches of comedy in his performance and some serious stuff too.  It was all very believable.  I believed he was journalist on the trail of a big story.  

The main thing that struck me when I first watched this was how much Matthew really looked like Peter Beaumont.  That’s impressive coz, I don’t know whether you have noticed this, Matthew Goode is quite attractive and he somehow buried the ‘pretty’, shaved his head and took on Peter’s ‘look’ exactly.  Very clever.  

A good, serious, movie and a very different role for Matthew.  Definitely worth a watch.

Favourite TV Series

"No Uterus, No Opinion!"

If you know this, then you will know what kind of TV series I love the most. Yes, it is F.R.I.E.N.D.S. What can be said about Friends that hasn't already been said? It's easily one of the best sitcoms of all-time. It's on every "best sitcoms ever" list for a reason...because it is! 

I've watched all seasons and fall in love from episode 1 season 1. Remember how Rachel entered the cafe while Ross talking about his ex-wife? Yeah, that was hilarious.

It is hard to decide which one my favourite scene since all the scene were funny, but if I have to pick up one favourite character, then it would be Chandler Bing! Yes, the sarcastic person on earth yet funny at the same time and has a weird-laugh-ex-girlfriend, Janice.

Friends is so overrated and is always in most people's recommendations that you just keep on scrolling past through the list but seriously it's a good show and worth giving a shot!

Even in 2023, the series aged like fine wine. Whenever you feel sad, just watch this series!
