20221222: 10293: Santa’s Visit (the 2021 holiday set with 1445 pieces) was a really neat build. I very much enjoy the bright light blue and getting so many bricks of this color means I could definitely build other things. I like the hollow chimney for santa to slide down and it’s really fun that the fire gets knocked down when minifigures slide down. the roof design was also very interesting, as it functions on hinges which makes the roof easier to attach and detach and allows movement to get to the play area in the loft. overall, a very good addition to the Lego winter village collection :)

TIPS: Shooting Lego Sets Interiors: Christmas
Hi community! For the final week I'm going to give some tips onto how to shoot Christmas sets. I'm using this time the Gingerbread House (10267) and Santa's Visit (10293).
Tumblr media
Christmas asks for warmth. It needs candles, and fireplaces, and sweets. So LED into candles and the chimney are key for these images. Small LEDs with a bit of haze from the face mister will give a soft glow around the lights.
Tumblr media
It's also time for sharing and family, preparing for a big event. These are all ideas to use in the story you want to tell. You can even add silly details, like pigs in the house.
But just because these are Christmas themes does not mean you cannot use it for other scenes. There are places and corners that you can use to tell other stories, like the little girls room the day after Christmas building her new toy.
Tumblr media
Because that corner does not have a full wall, I took some of the pieces from other parts of the house and add them in that area to fill in with the same tones as the rest of the house.
Tumblr media
For the editing I have emphasized the warmth and the softness on both images, and I have increased the vibrance to add a colour pop.
Tumblr media
In the little girl photograph I reduced the highlights of the LED and window light to not overpower the rest of the image. I have also used a healing tool to reduce the reflections on the little girl's face, which I couldn't avoid with the front window light.
Tumblr media
And this is all! I hope you all learn useful tricks and tips for shooting some of the most popular Lego set types.

Well, it’s January, but I’m going to go ahead and build the Santa’s Visit house, #10293.l, while I watch the Rose Bowl parade.
Tumblr media
Then came the time of the great sorting. Color to color, Shape to shape, and a pile of just windows and doors.
Tumblr media
I really like how the base pieces are connected with these hinges. Brilliant design choice.
Tumblr media
There are gifts hidden in the house. This one is Thanos- colored. It must be from him.
Tumblr media
Finished the base. On to the second bag.
Tumblr media
I have a sweet kitty keeping me company while I work on this. This is Guy. He’s come from outside to claim the Ikea chair as his own.
Tumblr media
It’s been a strange time for him. We took in our late uncle Ron’s cat, Miss Kitty, after he passed unexpectedly, and she’s not on good terms with Guy yet, and keeps hissing and growling at him through the window. I’m hoping they can learn to coexist in time, but it’s going to take some time.
Tumblr media
I’ve finished another bag, and have it built up to the window sills. I’m going to take s break from this to finish putting away this Christmas tree; taking them down is much harder than putting them up.
Tumblr media
Okay, finally back. I’ve finished a couple more bags.
Tumblr media
Ooo, the rafters are looking good. I love the little lamp over the diming table.

I was shopping around for a Christmas tree with no luck - then I thought to myself, "I wonder if Lego made a Christmas tree?" - so after a google, here we are ;-) I got the Christmas Tree (40573), Santa's Sleigh (40499), Santa's Visit (10293), and the Christmas Wreath (40426) - all were fun to build. I wasn't sure about getting the wreath, but it turned out to have the most Christmas vibe in my eyes. It would be nice if they made a Christmas tree the size of the recent Eiffel Tower (21019) - maybe next year :-) The lights on the sets are stolen from the Death Star and Millennium Falcon from @lightmybricks and plugged by USB into the PC which provides the power. Christmas in Japan is celebrated for monetary reasons rather than religious ones - which is evident on the night of December 25th when most stores start taking down the decorations. Turkeys are not native to Japan and don't really flourish here which is why Japan traditionally eats chicken instead - but not just any chicken - but KFC chicken. KFC becomes the most popular food in Japan during Christmas with queues of folks outside each store. Most KFC stores won't sell the usual meals because they only prepare boxes of chicken - I found out after going for a meal but ended up with a huge box of chicken... Christmas is not a public holiday in Japan - folks go about their usual business at school or work. However, during the 1920's, Christmas day was a public holiday - but only because December 25th fell on the "Memorial Ceremony for the previous emperor" which was called Senteisai (先帝祭). #christmas #lego #tokyo #japan (at Mirai Store Tokyo) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClaUqyYyqOI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Hello community,
Tumblr media
This is an unmissable event as the end of the year festivities approach for winter fans. town. Last year we received a visit from Santa Claus in a blue house (Set 10293). This year we are staying downtown on Main Street to prepare the final purchases before Christmas. This year’s set is made up of two shops with snow-capped roofs of a tram, a pedestrian crossing and a gigantic Christmas tree. Put on your mittens, style your hair nice hat, we’re off to explore Main Street. No train tracks are provided in the box, however you will find in the instruction how is it possible to motorize the tram.
Tumblr media
There are 6 minifigures in the set, a little boy, two women with shopping bags, surely filled with gifts, a tram driver and two vendors for each of the shops. The little boy with his letter for Santa Claus with his mouth wide open, probably because he saw it putting the gifts under the tree. He is dressed in a ski outfit, and a chapka to protect his ears from the cold.
Tumblr media
We find two buildings on Main Street, a music store and a toy store. On the floor of the buildings, we have a children's room and a kitchen. The buildings remain small but are full of details. The front of the buildings are decorated with Christmas garlands, and the roofs covered with snow.
Tumblr media
To accompany the two buildings on the main street, we have a nice tram to get around the winter village, a piece of sidewalk and a large fir tree.
Tumblr media
If you want to learn more, don't hesitate to read the review on the blog.
I give this set a 08/10.
@monsieur.kek
Lego Icons 10308 Holiday Main Street will be available on October 7, 2022 and will cost $99.99 / €99.99 / £89.99 / 169.99 AUD / 129.99 CAD
disclaimer: @lego sent this set to @brickcentral for taking pictures, but all opinions are my own.
