Day 10 — 100 days of kyle watercolor brushes ——————————————————— due to travelling commitments I am a little behind with the 100 day project but hoping to catch up now — onwards —- Today I played with a brush called “ Kyle’s Real Watercolor - 175 Broad Washer Rough - 173 pc “ and first up — it’s definitely a keeper . It is large and lays down a wonderful natural watercolor wash , when layers applied on top they are smooth on the inside of a shape and terrain a lovely dried paint edge on the outside . Colors don’t blend together totally, so suits a layered approach were distinct colors want to be retained rather than mixed and blended . However the main central color is beautifully transparent using light pressure on the apple pencil so that a bit of all layers remains and colourfully interacts — Good for quick bold washes and backgrounds too .. enjoyed playing with this one of the kyle webster brushes

Day 15 of 100 days of kyle watercolorbrushes .. Today I experimented with the digital brush Kyle calls “ Kyles Real Watercolor - Alcohol - 356 pixel” ——————————————— Just got back from travelling for a few days to the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District for some work ... what a beautifully inspiring countryside - now back in the studio and resuming the 100 day project .. Brush Review ——————- This brush essentially mimics the addition of alcohol splatters to a watercolor wash painting . Here I started off by using my chosen colorpalette and layering the alcohol brush splatters in different colors - by varying the sizes and by keeping on layering ( there are at least 30 layers in this example) a natural looking splash texture can be achieved even though that is not the initial point of the alcohol brush . The last final layer uses white as a color and the setting to a large splash to overlay an alcohol splatter like texture ... quite effective if a little too dense for my liking .. I would prefer the splatter to be more spread out .. however on a larger canvas this could be achieved by increasing the brush size to very large — and just stamping one brush stroke on it — then compliment with reduces size brush strokes —- certainly lots of room for experimenting and love that different colors can be playing with too rather than just a clear alcohol like layer — def a keeper

Day 12 of 100 days of kyle watercolor brushes — participating in the 100 day project with @elleluna ———————————————— today I played with a digiatl@Brush called “ Kyle’s Real Watercolor Brush - 2017 Basic / 90pixel in adobe sketch ————————————————— Brush Review : Mid Brush is called basic — and I guess for me that means it’s a good all rounder and it holds up well to that . decent size that blends well, lays down smoothly without put too much pressure necessary on the #applepencil . There is a soft , smooth inner center which leaves a defined outer edge but not too harsh. It blends nicely but leaves definite overlay marks so again ... good sketching all-rounder , basic application at a decent size .. definitely a keeper .. especially for quick design idea sketches .Here I worked in Adobe Sketch on the #ipadpro with the Apple Pencil ... the floral pattern was sketched with one brush only to test its potential .. Day 8 of 100 days of kyle watercolor brushes .. today I am playing with a brush called “ Kyle’s Real Watercolor - 80 Irregular Edge - 80 pixel ******************************************** So this brush indeed has an irregular edge but it is not very noticeable . It overlays instantly with Apple Pencil pressure , even on the first layer and blending smoothly is not really achieved however blending and leaving an irregular bleeding edge happens quite organically . The pressure sensitivity settings are gentle and color overlays harmonise nicely . A good all rounder brush for quick watercolor sketches without the need for much brush planning — interesting varied effects can be achieved quickly with this brush alone — its a keeper 😊

Day 7 of 100 days of kyle watercolor brushes ... today using a brush called “ Kyles Real Watercolor - 6 at 60 pixel “ On a small size setting without lifting the Apple Pencil off the screen this brush leaves a streaky bubble effect , like leaving little water splashes in its wake . it blends away when the brush is lifted , but then also adds a darker color tone . The effect is slightly dependent on Apple Pencil pressure , but not too much . It leaves an unpredictable mark that is not easy to control , but in the right shape it can make for a lively effect . I only used one color and a darker tone was achieved by heavy pressure , then added a much lighter , outline wash by only applying gentle pressure . It does not blend particularly well but then that’s not it’s design . I think this brush could work well as a last overlay .. def on the pile of “ want to play some more with this one “ 😊

Day 4 of my 100 days of kyle watercolor brushes ...for the 100 day project Today I played with No 3 Real Watercolor Brush , in Adobe Sketch on the iPad Pro using and Apple Pencil with pressure sensitivity . This brush has made it into my new favourites list — smooth and creamy like butter is what I would call it , it glides and blends easily , no marks or edges left behind when the Apple Pencil is left on the iPad without lifting ... the second layers is applied easily and blends well making for a very smooth and even application ... useful for almost translucent layer effects and contrasting edging without leaving a hard mark ... lush

Day 14 - experimenting with #100daysofkylewatercolorbrushes ——————————————————- Today I played with a brush called : “ Kyle’s Real Watercolor Add Paper Texture -131 pixel” , in Adobe Sketch App on iPad Pro —————————————— Brush Review: ——————— At first this brush might seem quite unassuming , perhaps as the name suggests it literally adds a paper texture effect to the brush stroke . However when loaded with a suitable color it blends beautifully and layers up a great tonal range. Not every color seems to respond the same , I found lighter colors and soft greys work beautifully for a smooth look with excellent shading . Lay down one layer, then a second outline , then the thirds blend layer and the staggering gives great flexibility of built up depth. Different colors do mix but for me the strength of this brush lies in the tonal color value range and used very large it gives great realistic watercolor paper textures over the surface . Definitely a keeper !

Day 11 - 100 days of kyle watercolor brushes ————————————————— Today I played with a digital brush called “ Kyles Real Watercolor - 500 Giant , 500 pixel ————————————————— Brush Review : #This brush is certainly big , with a sort of cloudy crinkles edge , it layers down a soft feathery sort of edge upon light pressure of the apple pencil ... push harder and it makes it larger but not much darker . This would be good for filling large backgrounds with a soft watercolor effect wash although the blending of subsequent layers can be a bit tricky . The feathery edge does not blend well and leaves a puffy mark, which can be fun with the right design but the flow is quite distinct . Other colors overlayed leave a sharp mark - this could be softened with a different smudging brush but otherwise quite interesting for smaller details like here with the stamens and stalks . Fun to experiment with but not immediately a favourite .

Day 5 the 100 day project —Going to explore 100 days of Kyle Watercolor Brushes ..This brush is called “ Kyles Real Watercolor 4 - 70 pixel — of the art of kyle t webster brushes now available in Adobe Sketch with a CC subscription one brush a day and see how the muse plays with it ... using adobe sketch on an ipad pro - with thanks to host @elleluna This brush didn’t particularly stand out for me , brushstrokes are even yet leave a distinct shadow but no highlighted edge when overlayed ... not very smooth , not very rough - I guess a good inbetween brush .. I don’t think I will be adding this one to my tool brush , it’s not standing out for any specific good characteristics suiting my style —- so onward to Day 6 and see how the muse gets on tomorrow —- How is your 100 day project 2018 progressing ?

Day 3 - 100 days of kyle watercolor brushes ... Today I played with a digital brush called “‘ Kyle’s Real Watercolor 2 /70 “ brush - again using an iPad pro with an Apple Pencil in #adobesketch for my the 100 day project This brush has quite a soft feel, edges are not very pronounced and it blends but leaves a definite shade mark if the Apple Pencil is lifted off .. the edges then overlap and no longer blend — great for adding pronounced overlays in different colors and retaining a crisp edge

Day 2 of #the100dayproject ... my explorations of 100 days of kyle watercolor brushes *************************************Today I used the first brush in the adobe sketch download of Kyles watercolour brushes called ==> Kyle Watercolour 2-40 #kyletwebsterbrushes ————— It gives a nice overlay effect but for me it does not mix as much and as seemless as I would like it too , fun for more rugged , random effects and the thin line when the size is right down carries a nice sharp edge which is fun for lettering . This brush blends nicely when overplayed over a thin line ...
