Literally what the fuck is wrong with you all on this website?
A gentle reminder: you can request stuff from writers because they ALLOW you to do so. There are writers who particularly don’t accept any requests of any kind, who only work with what they want to give to the audience (which is more than okay, you can go and cry about it), but many writers are STILL going out of their way to accept requests. They do not owe you anything at any capacity; at worst, they are doing you a favor, and at best, they are granting your wish.
Also you can’t, and I can never emphasize this enough, CAN NEVER, complain about “mediocre writing” when these people are:
1) doing this for FREE. Like oh my fucking god, why is it so hard for you people to accept we all have lives outside these blogs. Many of us have jobs to work, school to attend, and in some cases, families to take care of. Be fucking glad that some of us (and that is not me tbh) are willing to sacrifice the time they could be tending to more pressing matters in order to write. Stop being spoiled brats.
2) NOT GETTING THE FEEDBACK TO IMPROVE THAT ““MEDIOCRE”” WRITING. Literally how many times do we have to say this for you to start taking it seriously? How many different posts from different content creators is it going to take? How many more times do we have to remind you that this website is not fucking instagram? The least you can do is to leave an empty reblog. If you don't wanna let us know how your opinions about our writing, then you have absolutely no right to complain about the quality of our writing. "BuT mY bLoG aEstHeTiC" go and make a new one, I don't fucking care. Most of the people who interact with our works (and that is leaving a good old LIKE) are either empty blogs, nameless blogs, blogs with no posts, blog with like ONE single post, so on so forth. Also, bring me one writer, one single writer, whose reblogs are higher in number than their likes. Then I will accept your argument there. Literally every single one of us, no matter how "mediocre" we are in your standards, are complaining about this issue, and rightfully so. If you can't do the basic requirements that we ask from you on our navigations, dni posts, and even on the posts of the fics themselves (i.e, many of us put a bold and italic reminder like this for you guys to leave a reblog or let us know your thoughts), then you have literally no ground for complaining and absolutely no ground for comparing writers like this.
3) Doing this for fun. Why do you fucking think we start writing or make these blogs in the first place? Because we enjoy it, we enjoy creating stories like that. For most of us, it starts as a way of relaxing, maybe it's even a hobby. But because of people like you it turns into just another chore and we slowly lose interest in it. I have been on tumblr for far more years than some of you have known the existence of this website, and I have had 7 writing blogs in total. It's literally always the same: you enjoy the fandom content, you consider making your own, you make your own, you consider posting it, you make a blog, it has a somewhat decent run, and then it becomes too much. I have had so little cases with fandom content killing the vibe for me, it is almost always the folks on here that make me regret sharing my content. Again, stop being spoiled brats.
On a somewhat more personal note to wrap this up, Dream is the last person that should get this rant from a fucking anon. She delivers quality work and on top of that, she is a very nice person. Dream is one of the most consistent writers on this goddamn hell site and on top of everything, her writing is not fucking mediocre. "13 year old who just discovered what writing online was", really? I hope you can grow the balls to come off anonymous so we can see if you are deserving of enjoying her content first to make such demands and leave this clusterfuck of an ask on her ask box. Fucking coward.
Wow. Artists ARE NOT YOUR Robots.
This lovely ask was sent to me after I reblogged THIS
Where would I even begin with this ask? I was just going to ignore it at first, pretend I hadn’t gotten it like I do with all the other bullshit asks I get but it’s just really gotten under my skin. For many reasons. Number one being the last two paragraphs that were stated.
I would just like to say that I don’t “flood the tags” as they suggested I do. I merely have a consistent uploading schedule *Not a dig at any writers that don’t, I just don’t have a life outside of writing* And I happen to used the appropriate tags as each fic requires. I don’t tag it unnecessarily and I don’t add members that aren’t included in the piece I have written.
Moreover I do believe I’ve improved on my writing. Not only do I personally see it but so do a lot of my friends that happen to write and a lot of people who have followed me for a while now.
Stating that I “don’t work hard” because my writing is “mediocre” is like a kick in the gut. I spend hours working on this fics for people, sometimes it can take me longer than a couple of days if the writing is longer than expected to be. So claiming that I “don’t work hard” is harsh. I spend a lot of time thinking of the plot, as well as writing down the scenes and trying to make sure it all makes sense and comes together neatly for people to enjoy. Its all hard work. Just because I’m not physically building a house or making a rough doesn’t mean my WRITING isn’t hard.
“All you do is complain about never getting interactions” I’d like to say I haven’t complained about not getting interaction, maybe once or twice I’ve asked for feedback because that’s how we as artists learnt and grow. But I don’t complain about it all of the time or even get on at you all for it (I’d like to think I don’t.)
To tie it all together with a cute little bow.
I just want to say that, “We can DEMAND things from you" and the kind little “you OWE us because we asked” If you agreed with this part I would kindly like to ask you to unfollow me right now. Not only is that wrong but at the end of the day I don’t “owe” you anything.
If I need a break because I’m under mental distress. I’ll take a break.
If I don’t post for one day or more because I’m on vacation. I will not post.
I’m not some robot that works on oil. I need rest and time to let my mind chill in order for you to get your “mediocre” writing. I’ve grown a lot since starting this account and I will not let, nameless and faceless accounts belittle me into thinking my writing isn’t good.
Sure it’s not the best but I will learn and I will grow just as I have in the past.
Also yes I had help from @sulfurcosmos because I’m a bitch that can’t articulate my feelings very well
#jena talks#more like jena rants damn#this literally made blood rush to my brain#excuse me if i rambled a bit because wow i cannot gather my thoughts when i'm angry
