One Year (Long and Sappy post)

On October 12th 2016, the first first series of quotes were posted on this blog. I was in the middle of my final high school exams. For weeks, I had been compiling a microsoft word document of various quotes, and I had this blog URL saved away. Two days before my first exam, I finally had the courage to put all those quotes into a queue, and the day before part 1 of my fateful English exam, the quotes went up and since then, the blog has risen to heights I never imagined.

There’s nothing really special about them, they’re not original or creative and like most of “my” quotes they’re actually sourced from elsewhere. The majority of the quotes here aren’t mine, except for a choice few. And I will never stop being amazed at how the community behind this blog became so genuine and original despite the content.

I could've never imagined or hoped how many people this blog would reach. I was shocked when we hit 1,000 followers and I’m still shocked each time we reach a new milestone. The follower count doesn't matter as much, this blog could have 3 followers for all I care but I will never stop being impressed by the numbers, cause I never believed it would be possible.

The amount of people I’ve been able to meet and communicate with through this blog is crazy. I’ve made so many friends in the past year and met so many people that have become insanely important to me. I created a group chat which has more than 70 members. I have close to 300 followers on my second ask account. That’s nearly 300 people that are following that blog for no other purpose than to communicate and connect with me of all people. 

Some of you may know this, others may not, it’s not something I hide but I’m suffering from depression right now. This blog arose from one of the bad moments of my life. Final exams were happening and I could barely find the motivation of the effort to pick up one of my books, let alone put focus towards studying. I remember hesitating to post those first few quotes because I needed to focus on my exams. But then one of the last shreds of hope and happiness that was left, told me to do it. Told me that I deserved some sort of joy.

Since then, the community behind the blog has become a pillar of support for me. Even in my darkest moments I still have you guys, I have the kind messages you’ve left, telling me how much this blog matters to you, and how happy it makes you guys. There is so much kindness and happiness that radiates from this blog and that’s all because of you guys. I will never be able to express the amount of gratitude and love that I have for every single one of you.
