Doing nothing. Karena di weekday jadwalnya selalu padat dari pagi sampai malam. Jadi begitu ada waktu kosong betul-betul dipakai untuk rileks dan istirahat. Sebisa mungkin waktunya dihabiskan di tempat terbuka yang dekat alam. Entah itu pantai, taman, gunung, apa pun itu selama dekat dengan sesuatu yang "hidup". Yang pasti butuh disiram banyak sinar matahari juga karena sehari-hari kerja di dalam ruangan tertutup tanpa jendela. Nggak bisa lihat langit dan nggak kena sinar matahari sama sekali.

Biasanya aku selalu sibuk pegang kamera dan foto pemandangan sana sini, tapi hari itu waktu aku di atas balon udara, aku betul-betul ambil waktu tenang untuk rekam semua yang aku lihat ke dalam memoriku. Aku suka fotografi, melukis, berenang, berkebun, menari, dan masih banyak lagi. Cuma belakangan ini lagi hobi menulis makanya aku berusaha untuk aktif di blog ini. Kalau ada kesempatan di waktu mendatang, aku mau belajar surfing. Keliatannya menyenangkan!

Hidden in the hollows of the hillside, lush green slopes are interrupted by large erratic boulders. A path drops down to Lake Bafu where the ancient ruins of Herakleia still standing on a small island in the middle. The lake is a great place to relax and have a swim. After cooling off, we sat down on a couple of chairs and a family offered us some beers from the little fridge they had set up on the shore. There is limited public transport to Kapıkırı but fortunately, driving in Turkey is very easy. How to Visit – All the details are in our 2-week Turkey itinerary. KAPIKIRI 9 – TEMPLE OF APOLLO Only three columns of the Temple of Apollo are still standing with a pediment across the top of two of them. It is not particularly ornate, nor does it have a dramatic location. But but the colossal size of the columns put the whole structure into perspective. The temple walls, metres thick and almost 30 metres high, are simply massive. Wide columns stretch like mighty redwoods into the sky. One fallen column, lying on its side, still stands 2.5 metres high. The original platform of the temple was over 5,500 meters square and held 122 massive columns. Nevertheless, this was only the fourth largest temple in ancient Turkey. Standing here in awe of a monument of such power and might is a wonderful thing to do in Turkey. The outcome are the impressive ruins you see today. It’s easy to get an idea of the scope and size of the church which would be the 7th largest in the world if it existed today. BASILICA OF SAINT JOHN 11 – ANTALYA Antalya is a city located on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. With glorious stretches of beach, it’s known as the capital of tourism in Turkey. The combination of sunny coastline, ancient ruins, high-end hotels and golf resorts has made Antalya one of the best places to visit in Turkey. Stroll the charming old town with Roman artefacts. Take a boat ride from the Old Harbour. Enjoy Antalyan night life and shop in designer department stores. ANTALYA, TURKEY 12 – ASPENDOS Aspendos is an ancient Greco-Roman city located just 20 minutes out of Antalya. It is one of the best-preserved ancient theatres in the world. The city of Aspendos was founded in the 5th century BC by Greeks from Argos. Construction on the theatre commenced in the 6th Century BC under Alexander the Great. During the Roman times it led the world trade in salt, oil and wool, bringing great power and wealth to the city. Built into a hill, the stage is 96 metres long. It’s been about 9 months since Gokay and I were last in Turkey for this incredible trip. And now we are back again!

The hope was we’d be with my parents this time and we’d all have an incredible experience. Sadly fate did not have that in mind, as 2 months ago dad got into a motorcycle accident and my parents were not able to go on their trip.

This trip started with a lot of weird emotions because of the accident, including a lot of frustration and yelling at Turkish Airlines… yeah they suck.

The first week here this year was a whirlwind.

Starting with our travels - SFO Friday night of the 26th (1 hour delay) > Frankfurt > 4+ hour layover > Florence (1.5 hour delay), night in Florence Airbnb > train to Bologna > brunch with Anna and Ottavio > Bologna airport > Istanbul arrival Sunday night of the 28th right after Erdogan won the election.

Once in Istanbul we spent the week:

- Shopping/doing chores,

- Seeing Allan for dinner (Frank got a cold),

- Going to a hotel Hamam (different one this trip but it was amazing)

- Spending time with Gokay’s grandma, aunts, uncles and cousins (including some I hadn’t met last time)

- Got a tour of the local university by Gokay’s cousin who goes there

- A lovely dinner with Gokay’s high school friends

- I worked every evening Tuesday - Friday, from 4p-midnight (plus or minus)

- A lot of eating

- And a little sight seeing

I can’t believe we’ve been here for a week, and now it’s time already for us to do our vacation/tourist week in Turkey. We will be flying to Cappadocia tonight, then to Pamukkale, Izmir, Efes, and ending in Selimiye to see Gokay’s parents for a couple days.

We will end the trip with a couple days back in Florence visiting my family.
