My Intermediate accounting professor showed us this article. It’s pretty interesting how I changed my majors into accounting because I did not know what to expect. I just know that my personality and strengths are relevant to the profession. I wanted an ultimate escape to science classes, and I was going into business classes with blind faith.

Weirdly enough, I meet most of the competencies in this article.

I value accuracy. Yes errors are inevitable in this imperfect world. However, accuracy brings efficiency and more productivity. I want to make sure I am doing things correctly, and I strive towards that by asking clarification or practicing certain things to improve.

I really like to manage my time wisely. I know when it is time to relax and when to work. I have gotten into this habit of making to do lists since I started college. Sometimes, I dream about the future and how my work space would be minimalistic and structured. I dream that I will have all these fancy stationary to compliment my need for punctuality. I also like the fulfillment of crossing things off early and having more time to do other things.

I express myself better in writing than through spoken word. Through the past few months, I have strengthened my email communication skills by being part of a TEDx committee and signing up for accounting internships. I like reading what I need to say and make sure it is clear and concise.

One thing I want to work on is excel. I find myself to have intermediate knowledge. I want to be able to use excel to my advantage and not view it as an inconvenience. 

Lately, I have been getting anxious about accounting internships. No one has been replying and there has been no new postings. This article brings me a bit of relief because it allows me to self reflect on how I can reinforce my strengths and improve my weaknesses. It also helps me be prepared for future interviews. At the end of the day, I will be a good fit somewhere. I just gotta keep doing what I do and never give up.
