tanggal bersejarah dalam hidupku. lembaran baru dalam kehidupanku. aku resmi menjadi istrinya. pria tampan dari pulau seberang yang bersuku bugis.

di hari itu akad nikah diselenggarakan. sungguh, tak kusangka dia yang menjadi pendampingku, penuntunku ke surga. sungguh bahagianya hati ini.

ini adalah pertemuan keempat kami. sah sebagai suami istri.

bila diingat, sungguh pertemuan singkat yang membuat kami bersama. bersatu dalam ikatan ilahi

tak panjang yang dapat kuceritakan tentang kisah kami

pertama kalinya dia menghubungiku lewat facebook. hanya menyapa sekilas dan berkata hai padaku. tak lebih. entah kenapa hati ini begitu bersemangat untuk membalasnya. (mungkin ini yang dinamakan benang merah)

perkenalan kami pun berlanjut seterusnya.

fyi : kami adalah teman satu kampus. sama angkatan bahkan satu jurusan. tetapi tak sekalipun kami pernah berbicara satu sama lain. mungkin karena terlalu cupu (aku tepatnya), sehingga tidak pernah ad interaksi antara kami.

dalam perkenalan itu, tiba-tiba saja dia bilang ingin menjalin yang serius denganku. kaget? pasti. sangat. aku tak pernah tau tentangnya. aku hanya tau namanya, asalnya, jurusannya, tempat kerjanya. hal-hal umum yang mungkin orang lain juga tau. tapi aku tak tau bagaimana kepribadiannya, bagaimana keluarganya, bagaimana kehidupannya. itu aku tak tau.

sebelum menjawab pertanyaannya, aku mencoba mencari informasi tentangnya. mulai dari kepribadiannya yang kutanyakan kepada teman dekatku yang cukup populer di angkatan.

daan, seperti ada lampu hijau. semua teman-temanku mengatakan bahwa dia orang yang baik, pekerja keras, dan bertanggung jawab.

eh, tapi bukan karena itu aku langsung menyetujuinya. akupun hanya berkata kita jalani aja (yaa, seperti pasangan muda lainnya ketika ada yang menyatakan cinta ^^).

fyi lagi : kami sudah lulus kuliah dan sekarang sedang bekerja. tempat kami bekerja berbeda pulau. dia disana, aku disini.

While discussing main stream and underground hip hop, the one thing that stuck out to me was the importance that various factors play in how artists’ music is formulated. In particular, main stream hip hop is influenced largely by the media and what the public wants to hear, while underground hip hop can be influenced more by the artists’ region or background.

With this in mind, one might assume that main stream artists would let the fame and fortune get to their head and stray from their regional roots. While main stream artists may change a lot overtime due to the fame, it can be seen through many examples that hip hop artists do stay true to their backgrounds by giving back philanthropically. 

This article highlights many main stream artists who have had a positive influence on their hometowns. Last year, Kanye West donated $133,000 to Donda’s House in his hometown of Chicago, a charity established in honor of his mother. In addition, Big Sean built his old high school their own recording studio, as he reminisces on the times he would rap in the cafeteria during lunch and hand out CD’s in the hallways. If not giving back directly to their hometowns, artists can be seen making influential donations to causes they hold dearly, such as Rick Ross’s involvement with Habitat for Humanity.

By recognizing what good can come from large amounts of popularity and profit, these artists are making a lasting impression and doing what they can to help out their hometowns. In remembering where they came from and the places that helped make them who they are, main stream artists show that fame is put to good use.
