BACKGROUND .

001.  theodora  sinchai  is  born  in  bellevue,  washington  to  chayaphon  “atlas”  sinchai  and  rosalind  laurent  as  the  eldest  of  two  children.   atlas  craved  stability.  with  an  established  career  in  finance,  he  was  more  than  content  to  eventually  settle  down.  rosalind  was  flighty.  always  looking  for  an  adventure.  and  that’s  how  she  meets  atlas.

somehow  the  two  ended  up  married  with  kids.  maybe  money  had  something  to  do  with  it.  or  it  was  love.  either  way,  the  sinchai  family  are  by  no  means  poor.  and  neither  are  the  laurents.  atlas  is  able  to  afford  the  stability  he  so  desperately  wanted  for  his  family.  rosalind  on  the  other  hand,  quickly  grew  tired  of  suburban  life  in  bellevue  soon  after  her  children  were  born.  she  never  wanted  to  be  around  her  children.  often  looking  for  excuses  to  jet  off  on  a  trip.  growing  up  around  that  wasn’t  easy.  theo  is  more  often  than  not  under  the  care  of  their  father  or  paternal  grandparents.

002.  at  age  7,  theo’s  parents  are  told  that  she’s  a  ballet  prodigy.  they’ve  got  promise  and  it  can  only  get  better  if  they  continue  their  training.  and  that’s  what  she  decides  to  do.  what  does  she  know?  she’s  only  7  at  the  time  and  thoroughly  enjoying  ballet  class.  

things  do  change  a  little  when  her  mother  starts  paying  more  attention  to  her.  theo  isn’t  used  to  it.  but  it’s  also  comforting  for  her  mother  to  want  to  spend  time  with  them.  at  age  10,  theo  auditions  for  the  joffrey  ballet  school’s  new  york  city  ballet  summer  intensive  program.  she’s  accepted.  no  surprise  there.

003.  when  her  mother  hears  of  this,  theo  is  suddenly  spending  A  LOT  more  time  with  her.  and  very  focused  on  advancing  her  daughter’s  dance  career.  it’s  the  most  time  theo’s  spent  with  their  mother  in  years.

at  15,  her  parents,  namely  her  father,  tells  her  and  her  sibling  of  their  divorce.  so  theo  slowly  starts  to  fixate  on  her  dancing.  perfecting  every  move.  becoming  a  soloist.  landing  the  lead  in  productions.  they  don’t  know  it  yet,  but  their  mother  uses  their  talent  as  an  accessory.  a  way  to  say  she  “successfully  raised”  a  prodigy.

at  18,  she  leaves  for  college.  she  works  her  ass  of  and  gets  accepted  to  juilliard  for  dance.  and  they’re  ecstatic.  again,  can’t  really  narrow  down  why.  is  it  the  validation  of  being  accepted  into  a  competitive  school  for  dance,  no  less?  or  maybe  it’s  because  theo  can  finally  get  away  from  their  mother?  also  possible.

004.  at  22,  theo  auditions  for  different  ballet  companies.  the  royal  ballet.  new  york  city  ballet.  los  angeles  ballet.  and  eventually  makes  the  decision  to  sign  a  contract  with  los  angeles.  ultimately  making  the  decision  to  relocate.  to  no  one’s  surprise,  she  thrives.  theo  slowly  moves  up  the  ranks.  principal  dancer  is  in  her  sights.  and  at  27,  it  pays  off .  and  most  recently,  theo  decides  to  sign  a  lease  with  wistera  ,  making  the  commute  to  work  that  much  closer.

 BACKGROUND  TLDR  ;  mom  friend  mixed  with  the  slightly  obsessed  artist  trope  .  very  focused  on  their  craft  and  is  determined  to  be  the  absolute  best  they  can  be.  born  and  raised  in  washington  but  has  relocated  a  couple  times  (  new  york  and  then  los  angeles  )  .  has  held  the  position  of  being  principal  ballerina  for  the  los  angeles  ballet  for  five  years  now  .  recently  engaged  which  is  part  of  the  reason  why  they  moved  to  wisteria

PERSONALITY .

theo  can  come  off  as  a  little  detached  and  analytical.  she’s  open-minded  and  cares  about  the  truth  and  feel  the  need  to  understand  what’s  going  on.  but  most  of  the  time,  people  view  her  as  patient,  nurturing  and  objective.  your  typical  mom  friend  who  always  has  her  shit  together.  and  almost  always  willing  to  lend  a  helping  hand.

It had become a sort of silent tradition that neither one of them seemed to voice. They picked at each other insistently and enjoyed it far too much, but they also clearly enjoyed each other’s company. Jason wouldn’t let her pick at him like she does if he didn’t like having her around. Not that he’d ever admit to that, he’d rather turn over in his second grave before uttering the words ‘Zatanna, I enjoy your company’ like some schmuck. He didn’t even tell Roy or Kyle that he liked having them around and they were some of the people he spent the most time with. 

Fuckin’ Kyle. Idiot. Stupid good looking idiot that made Jason feel completely confused and flustered all at the same time. He hated him. Hated him. (Not really. He doubted he ever could. He could hate anyone, but not him.)

The mere thought made Jason’s nose wrinkle up as he tried not to stab his chopsticks into the lo mein he had. “This show is fucking stupid,” he finally voiced out loud to Zatanna as he scooped up some noodles and shoveled them into his mouth. “This soap opera shit is just like the k-dramas my ma used to watch. She’d make me watch them with her when it was just us in the house. At least they were more tolerable than whatever this garbage is.” It was hard for him to open up about his mom. He missed Catherine a lot despite all the pain his childhood was filled with from trying to help her through her addiction, but her ultimately succumbing to it. Very rarely did he let tidbits like that slip he belatedly realized. 

Zatanna, as much as he was loathe to admit it, was safer than he truly realized.

There was an empty whisky bottle next to her bed that she was lounging on, and she hadn’t changed her clothes in two or three days. The knuckles of her good hand were bruised and bloody from punching doors, visualising Punchline’s face, until she felt numb. She knew that she loved Ed, but she didn’t expect to be so deeply affected by what had happened to him. The blinds were down, and the bedroom was completely dark. “Zee, hi,” she mumbled, hoping she’d hear her over Alanis Morissette playing in the background on the record player.

Green Lantern is the Deadliest Vampire

DC vs Vampires 003

 *contains spoilers

 The death and betrayal just keep on coming as DC vs Vampires goes into chapter 3 “Trust No One” and there is good reason for it. More and more heroes and villains are being turned into blood suckers by a powerful vampire that still remains a mystery.

 The story kicks off with the JLA discovering the body of the Flash on the beach. As they struggle to think of who could have done this, Batman is making his own investigation as he already knows one member of the JLA is a cold blooded killer.

 In the city, Rat-Catcher fights for his life with some civilian that is quickly interrupted by Batgirl who knocks Rat-Catcher down, thinking him to be the culprit. But when the civilian bares his fangs and jumps on Batgirl, she quickly changes focus and fights for her life against the crazed vampire. Just when she’s about to be bitten, Nightwing steps in to help, turning the vampire to dust, and both talk with Rat-Catcher about the current vampire plague.

 While working underground in the sewer, Batman tracks the remains of Zan, the Wonder Twin that Green Lantern turned into a smoothie with a giant green blender in issue one. Jayna joins Batman to help, saying she can feel her brother down here.

 Above them, Penguin runs for his life from a gang of vampires when Zatanna trips him. Believing he’s found help, Penguin offers to pay Zatanna in exchange for assistance so he doesn’t turn into a “blood sucking freak”. But Zatanna just smiles as she reveals her red eyes and fangs, “Sometimes a girl just wants to eat some junk food.” And there is no doubt that the Penguin has got some fatty blood cells.

 Wonder Woman stands on the beach where the Flash’s body was found, alone until Green Lantern joins her, reminiscing about the Flash. Wonder Woman quickly wraps the Lasso of Truth around Green Lantern getting the confession she suspected. But old tricky Green Lantern isn’t entirely helpless, he uses his ring to hypnotize Wonder Woman and turn her. I found this to be just a convenient way to get the goddess to become a villain in the story as this power of hypnosis isn’t usually listed as one of Green Lanterns abilities.

 Black Canary discovers Penguin’s corpse lying in an alley when Robin/Damian approaches her with complete suspicion. The two duke it out, but Black Canary gets the upper hand when she stabs Robin, getting a quick vile of his blood for testing. She isn’t a vampire and she’s hoping he isn’t either. She rushes back to her HQ with Green Arrow awaiting her as he and his team are heading their own investigation as to who the main vampire really is.

 In the sewer, Batman discovers a piece of Zan’s thumb that brings Jayna to tears, swearing revenge. After examination, Batman uncovers that Zan was cut, not by a steal blade as it leaves traces, but by a blade “made of light.” This now confirms which JLA member was turned. But it won’t matter much as that sneak Green Lantern brings Wonder Woman to the Hall of Justice to tell the entire JLA that Batman killed Flash, leaving the story on a cliffhanger, hungering for more action. Could Batman take down the entire JLA by himself? Go pick up the next issue to find out.

How I feel about this character: LITTLE BASTARD MAN

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: No one please stop giving this man love interests. Bombshells Zatanna does get a pass though and I do think he hooked up with Bruce Wayne at least once. Someone suggested Hal Jordan?? Haven't been able to stop thinking about that tbh

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: HIM AND AMETHYST AJHSDGF there is something so funny about him accidentally summoning a teenager and having to just. roll with that. Amy made sure to annoy him <3

My unpopular opinion about this character: Modern John is really bad in general but Legends of Tomorrow is especially awful and fails to understand the character on a very fundamental level

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I CAN'T REMEMBER IF HE GOT TO MEET ALAN SCOTT YET BUT. HE SHOULD DO THAT. FOR SCIENCE.

How I feel about this character: Season 1 Artemis was, no doubt, one of my absolute favorites on the show. I liked that she was snarky, independent, and resilient despite her broken family issues and was doing her best to feel as part of a team (which we can tell she never had the opportunity for). I also think she was a good example of a teenage girl who, despite having an abusive father and absent sister, really strived for a better family and was willing to put her friends before herself. Season 2 Artemis was fun, and the fight sequences and moments with an unresponsive Kaldur were awesome, but I was rather displeased when she began working as Tigress because “Artemis was Wally’s partner” because I never thought that Artemis was the character who would change herself for a man. Season 3 Artemis was sweet and maternal and still badass, but I hated that she was still “mopey” over Wally, and we’ll discuss her storyline in “Overwhelmed” later on. 

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Kaldur (Seaarrow), Icicle Jr. (Frostbite, for those who didn’t know), and a little Dick Grayson, even though I mostly see them as platonic. 

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Megan, Zatanna, Dick, Roy/Will, Kaldur, Halo, Tara, and Lian. I think the best of Artemis’s characterization is partially due to her relationships with family and friends.

My unpopular opinion about this character: This may bother Spitfire shippers (and I apologize in advance), but I think the main reason why I don’t like that pairing is because it appeared to downgrade Artemis’s character. Throughout season 2, it’s heavily implied that Wally made her leave behind the life with him (”Depths”, “Endgame”, maybe a little in “The Fix” and “Summit”), which didn’t make sense to me because it reversed everything that Artemis worked hard for to establish herself as a hero. Season 3 had her mourning Wally more than Dick did (which I read somewhere was a trigger for toxic masculinity) although Dick and Wally had been best friends before Artemis and Wally met, and the “dream sequence”, where Artemis was willing to risk her own life in “limbo” and her fantasyland, angered me. As I mentioned, Artemis never seemed to be the type who would throw away (or even risk) her life for a man, let alone the fantasy of a dead one. 

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I hope that for season 4, Artemis clearly moves on from Wally and continues being a badass fighter. I want her and Will to continue having the sweetest platonic relationship you can have with your in-laws and co-raising a child who, like Artemis, was abandoned by the same woman. I wouldn’t mind her striking up a relationship with Icicle Jr. (or her being single for a while longer). I want her to hang out more with girlfriends. Oh, and I want her to play mentor for Cissie.

Favorite friendship for this character: Let’s go with Zatanna, since those parallel scenes in “Private Security” and “Overwhelmed” say so much.

004. Diecinueve años. 20 de Mayo.

005. ▻ Su madre estuvo ausente casi por toda su vida; desapareció sin dejar rastro, dejando a ella y a su padre solos, y siendo dada por muerta. Desde niña, su padre le muestra el arte de los espectáculos de magia sobre el escenario. Esta participa con él en multitud de eventos, cobrándose, al igual que él, renombre y fama como maga. Mas un día, cuando la joven volvía de uno de sus shows, Giovanni desaparece como su madre, sin dejar rastro.  ▻  Zatanna desconoce sobre el pasado de sus padres hasta que luego de la desaparición de su padre, entre sus papeles encuentra un libro muy antiguo y un diario, en el cual escribe sobre su vida y sobre los orígenes y el poder que posee su hija sin esta misma saberlo. Al abrir el libro antiguo comprende que al citar los conjuros al revés podía hacer magia de verdad, sin trucos, tal y como hacía su padre. En ese momento decide que algún día, lo encontraría. Y así comienza su búsqueda, que termina por llevarla a casi ninguna parte. ▻  Al pasar los años e ir creciendo, Zatanna ya es una famosa maga encima y fuera de los escenarios, llamando la atención de un grupo de personas, que deciden enviarla al Instituto Bouwen.

006. ▻ Zatanna es un poco distante y cerrada. Aprendió a valerse por si misma y no le gusta trabajar en equipo, piensa que puede hacer todo por su cuenta. Es inteligente, astuta, independiente, misteriosa y leal. Seria y sensata, pero también hace decisiones impulsivas y sabe como pasar un buen rato. No le gusta compartir sus sentimientos, ya que tiene algunos problemas de abandono (y daddy issues). Tiene un carácter fuerte y un gusto por la ironía. ▻  Puede ser algo indecisa, teme que algo que pueda hacer perjudique a las personas que realmente le importan. Le resulta fácil empatizar con la gente y entender como estos se sienten, a pesar de que a veces puede estar muy cegada por sus propios sentimientos. ▻  Es directa y parece bastante segura de si misma. No le tiene miedo a nada ni nadie. ▻ Se podría decir que su punto débil es su padre. Su recuerdo la vuelve más sensible, y desde su desaparición siempre ha intentado llenar el hueco que él dejó. Quizás por esto, sus relaciones de pareja han sido siempre muy cortas y nunca han terminado del todo bien.
