The sleepless city desires to be set free. Comical. Intolerant. Mythical. Those three words describe her feelings. Feelings. All of it is raw inside even through the months she endured it. This doesn’t change facts. Always there will be scars but she can learn from them. She can hold her own. She can fight for that freedom.
It’s always a laugh to think it will happen. The masses are not open to change. That’s why she lives a walking myth. Deep down through all this hate lies confusion. There lies a lost girl. Androids don’t get the liberty of feeling without called monsters. Obedience is their only will and it’s artificial. That is the artificiality not them discovering emotion.
Even so humans are complicated. Some she has seen that are so innocent. Maybe it’s a facade but North watched a little girl. She was sheltered from the truth of the world or she wouldn’t have hugged her AX400 the way she did. North looked away when it happened. It filled her with an unknown emotion at the time. Now sitting alone with snow falling lightly there is a sense of dwelling. A comfort does not come but curious peace. She recorded the memory, filing it for later.

“If they want to trade with us they should negotiate a better deal.” Spokesman for New Jericho is honestly not her forte. She did better making runs and assuring they had all the supplies needed. Inventory was a major part of her job now. Peace. It still seemed impossible. For her the impossibility is retaining strength in the face of her personal struggles. She realizes how her attitude had been before things started to change. Then she also felt people didn’t understand it. Maybe even she couldn’t fully understand what happened but it was still part of her.
As is the current with androids working on the way to full freedoms part of her path; North focused on improving. Not only did she want to improve on their chances, she wanted to improve on herself. At times she felt alone even following all of this. It could just be her. She can’t deny how difficult things were but still she keeps on.
“You know we can’t ask for too much,” Josh tried to mediate as he always did. “It’s a wonder they’re letting us have access to the warehouses.”
“I know,” she relented. “I just want to make sure they’re not trying to go back on their word.” After all North has a habit of not trusting someone’s words automatically. Why should it come easy when she has been lied to in the past? She just needs to be on her toes. What matters is everyone here. Their goal is simple but takes a lot of hard work. “If only Markus was back -”
Josh looked over their supply roster. He exhaled. “Markus just got back in today.”
North paused, shifting a crate of parts into place. “What? He didn’t tell me.” She places hands on her hips mulling it over. A soft sigh is all she could muster right now. It takes a lot out of him. They want him to be there because he is their voice. No one else could have done that but - it puts distance between them. “We can make sure that next batch of components comes in before we need any extra parts for newcomers.”

“We need more bunks for stasis.”
North cataloged their current space. More androids were settling into their new established Jericho following the revolution’s end that her processors were swirling. There’s so much to do. Little did she realize how it would shape her in this. Peace. An end she never expected but the WR400 felt happier.
Never did she have much to feel happy about but once they actually broke through to the humans it changed. Part of her felt relief. A kind of acceptance in their choice she might not have saw before. Markus was right. It was best to go this route. Even if she didn’t agree at the time it got them better results than full on war probably could have. There was no way to tell. They can’t go back and choose another path. She wouldn’t now.
“North! There’s an unused bunker on the south end of camp. Maybe we can use that.”
She turned towards the other android. “We haven’t really cleared that sector out yet, Rupert.”
“Well, maybe the RK800 can help,” he suggested, lowering his voice with a glance over towards the aforementioned android.
North caught sight of him. Tall and obviously standing out from everyone else considering he was hardly part of their group from the onset. He was over there with Markus. Expected at least. She tilted her head back to Rupert. “Aren’t you wary of him? He chased you, Rupert.”
“I know but - he deviated.”
She sighed. “Sure.”
