HARTFORD WOLF PACK OPEN ATLANTIC DIVISION FINALS VS HERSHEY BEARS PREVIEW
Tumblr media
By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack HERSHEY, PA – The Hartford Wolf Pack has arrived in Chocolatetown, USA, for the 2023 Atlantic Division Finals. The Wolf Pack opens the best-of-five series against the Hershey Bears tonight with Game One at the Giant Center. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m., and coverage is available on both AHLTV and Mixlr. Tale of The Tape: The Wolf Pack and Bears met six times during the 2022-23 regular season, with the Bears taking four of the six meetings. Hershey posted a record of 4-2-0-0, while the Wolf Pack managed points in three games, going 2-3-0-1. The Wolf Pack posted a 1-2-0-0 record at the Giant Center, with their lone victory coming on November 20th by a final score of 4-2. The sides last met on February 11th in Hershey, with the Bears prevailing by a final score of 2-1. Mike Sgarbossa opened the scoring 12:13 into the tilt, potting his 16th goal of the season. Just under three minutes later, at 15:08, Henrik Rybinski made it a 2-0 game with the first shorthanded goal of his career. The Bears' two goals in the opening frame would be enough, despite a strong effort from the visitors. Hartford outshot Hershey 13-7 in the middle stanza and got on the board courtesy of Will Cuylle. The rookie’s 15th goal of the season put the Wolf Pack within one, but Hunter Shepard slammed the door shut from there. Shepard made 33 saves to cement the victory, earning first-star honors on the night. The Bears won each of the final three meetings between the sides, including the February 11th tilt. Hershey also took a 2-1 regulation decision on November 25th and a 1-0 shootout verdict on November 26th. Both of those games were in Hartford. Wolf Pack Outlook: The Wolf Pack advanced to the Atlantic Division Finals thanks to a 4-0 shutout of the Providence Bruins in Game Four of their Atlantic Division Semifinals series. The victory gave the Wolf Pack a 3-1 series decision. Hartford is 5-1 through six games during the 2023 Calder Cup Playoffs. Turner Elson scored his first goal of the playoffs 3:40 into Game Four, giving the Wolf Pack a lead they would not lose. Elson became the fifth different Wolf Pack skater to record a game-winning goal during the postseason. Jake Leschyshyn potted a rebound at 4:49 of the middle frame to extend the lead to 2-0. The goal was his first career Calder Cup Playoff marker. Ryan Carpenter then buried a rebound from the right-wing circle at 15:23, essentially ending the intrigue on this night. Leschyshyn put home an empty net goal, his second of the night, 12:18 into the third period to make it a 4-0 game. Dylan Garand made 32 saves for his second career Calder Cup Playoff shutout. Defenseman Ty Emberson leads the Calder Cup Playoffs in +/- with a +13 rating. Forward Anton Blidh is second in the league with a +11. Tim Gettinger (2 g, 5 a) and Tanner Fritz (1 g, 6 a) lead the Wolf Pack in points through two rounds of the Calder Cup Playoffs. Lauri Pajuniemi, meanwhile, leads the team in goals with three through six games. Bears Outlook: The Bears completed a 3-1 series victory over the Charlotte Checkers with a 6-2 win in Game Four over the Charlotte Checkers on May 4th. Jake Wise and Riley Nash scored at 2:00 and 7:54 of the opening stanza, respectively, to give the Checkers a 2-0 lead after one. It would be all Bears from there, however. Mason Morelli got Hershey on the board at 10:15 into the middle stanza. Then Beck Malenstyn tied the game at 19:44. Aliaksei Protas broke the tie 8:59 into the third period, firing home a powerplay goal that would stand as both the game-winning and series-winning tally. Protas’ second goal at 10:57 gave Hershey the insurance they needed to close out the series. Riley Sutter and former Wolf Pack defenseman Dylan McIlrath both hit the empty net in the final few minutes to end the suspense. Sam Anas leads the Bears in points with six (2 g, 4 a) through four games. Protas, meanwhile, leads the Bears in goals with three. Game Information: WATCH: AHLTV LISTEN: Mixlr Play-by-play voice of the Wolf Pack, Alex Thomas, will have ‘Wolf Pack Pregame’ starting live at 6:45 p.m. on both AHLTV and Mixlr. Game Two of the Atlantic Division Finals takes place this Saturday, May 13th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey. This is a 24-minute video showing all 100 route tasks that you can find in the Sand Patch Grade route for Train Sim World 2. The route tasks are safety posters, no trespassing signs, hard hats, and markers. The route is also known as CSX Heavy Haul in the PC version of Train Sim World 2020 as this was the first Train Sim World route ever existed. Collecting started from Cumberland Yard to Rockwood. I had made a custom scenario as there isn't a light service that goes from Cumberland directly to Rockwood. There use to be one in TSW1 but they removed it. I would recommend doing that. If you're wondering why my marker count was higher than yours, I had collected the first one near Mance Post Office during the route introduction. The hard hat at the portable toilet near Mance is bugged, you basically can see it but you can't get to it due to an invisible wall. Theoretically because it was overhauled, they forgot to remove that invisible wall. The devs are aware of this bug and it is listed on the roadmap. As of October 28th's roadmap, it is stated as in production. Most likely it would be moved elsewhere. This was recorded on PC. It will be the same for XBOX and PS4. Feel free to share this video out to anyone who is looking for collectibles or jobs on this route. The collectibles are the same in TSW2020 so this video may be useful if you are looking for those. My Steam friend Pschlik made a mega guide on Steam showing on where they are placed on written form and screenshots. Very helpful if you go there if you don't think this video isn't helpful at all. Not only he did the route that I'm showing here, he did covered the routes that came with TSW2. GUIDE LINK: https://bit.ly/2I2Yc9d TIMESTAMP: 0:00 Cumberland Hump Yard 1:02 Cumberland Yard Car Shop 1:11 Cumberland Fuel Stand 1:41 Cumberland Turntable 2:16 Cumberland Yard West 2:33 Cumberland Station 3:15 Narrows River Bridge 4:42 Ellerslie 6:25 Hyndman 9:20 Fairhope Grade Crossing 10:08 Falls Cut Tunnel 10:26 Foley Overlook 11:39 Glencoe 12:55 Mance 15:41 Manilla 15:57 Sand Patch 16:47 Keystone 17:26 Meyersdale 18:26 Shaw Mines 19:23 Salisbury Junction 19:53 Garrett 20:45 Rockwood 23:19 Rockwood Mine If you're wondering why did I reuploaded this video, it was because I forgot to insert the first collectible which is a no trespassing sign on my video editor. I was going to wait until the Mance port-o-potty invisible wall hard hat fix is released but as of roadmap update which is October 28th, it is still listed as in production. I had decided to upload this anyway because I really don't know how soon that will be. Also, to burn the candle of both ends for those who would ask for that sign at the beginning. Arplis - News: Dad Finds His 14-Year-Old’s Comics Funny So He Decides To Post Them Online, And People Are Praising His Humor
14-year-old Jake has been drawing a new comic on the whiteboard on his bedroom door every single night. The talented teen’s comics are charming, funny, and they’ve already won over a large chunk of Instagram and Reddit. “Drawing is both a talent and a hobby of mine so comics are always fun to do,” Jake told Bored Panda about what keeps him drawing every day. “The main motivation, however, is the fact that over 10,000 people love my comics. I always try to have something ready when it’s time to post a comic, and I take my time to make sure they’re excellent.” Scroll down, upvote your fave Jake’s Door Comics and read on for our full interview with both the creative and disciplined young artist and his supportive father David. And keep an eye (or two) out for Jake’s first book which should come out by Summer’s end. More info: Instagram | DoorComics.com | Twitter | Facebook | Reddit #1 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #2 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #3 Image credits: jakes_door_comics Jake told us all about the origins of his viral comics. Like lots of great things, it started out with something done entirely for fun. “I always liked drawing little comics, but I haven’t really done anything with them until 6 months ago when the social media page started,” Jake said. “It all started when I watched a movie about a spelling bee that inspired me to make a ‘word of the day’ for my family to see. So I got a tiny whiteboard my dad had, put a hook on my door, stapled some twine onto the back of the whiteboard, and hung the twine on the hook. I wrote a word of the day for a while, but finding an interesting word every day got harder and harder until I gave up and l left the whiteboard blank.” However, the teen soon found other uses for the whiteboard. “I occasionally doodled on it and made comics sometimes (out of boredom), some of which my dad loved. My dad took pictures of them, and once we got around 50, my dad asked for permission to put them on an Instagram page. I was reluctant at first, but I gave my dad the green light to put the comics up. The page got 10,000 followers in two days, and I drew comics on the whiteboard more frequently. And that’s how it all began!” #4 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #5 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #6 Image credits: jakes_door_comics The 14-year-old also revealed what it’s like to draw his comics behind the scenes and let us in on his secret to coming up with great daily content. “It usually takes around five minutes, sometimes longer because of my hand erasing the comic while I draw (markers are not the most effective drawing tool). My dad usually gives me critique on the comics so that can take longer, too.” However, coming up with new ideas is much tougher than drawing them “Ideas are more complicated. My main source of comic ideas is my overactive imagination. I’ll have an idea for a comic, think, ‘Hey that’s actually a good idea,’ and write it down on a sticky note for future use.” #7 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #8 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #9 Image credits: jakes_door_comics He continued: “If that fails me, a good idea generator is ‘What if…’ For example, what if... ...you divided 0/0 on an experimental calculator? ...your fridge was, literally, running? ...a man hated puns so much he would kill over it? ...you played a sport with a ball filled with enough helium to make it fly? ...there was way too much caffeine in someone’s coffee? ...people noticed that whatever they say comes up in a speech bubble above their heads?” Jake said it’s a great method for generating comic ideas, especially when he’s running low on them. #10 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #11 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #12 Image credits: jakes_door_comics Meanwhile, Jake’s dad, David, says that his son has impressed everyone with his art, insight, observation, and humor. “Every night, he would draw something funny on his whiteboard, and I recognized how awesome they were. But the drawings would simply get erased and drawn over so I felt I needed to preserve them somehow. The easiest way was to just take a snapshot with my phone, and decide what to do with it later,” David said. “Eventually, the comics got funnier and funnier, and I decided I needed to post them online—if nothing more than to preserve them. I thought one day he would look back and see how creative he was at age 14.” #13 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #14 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #15 Image credits: jakes_door_comics Jake was reluctant for his dad to upload his drawings onto Instagram at first but gave in. “Things kind of took off from there,” dad David said. He explained that the main goal of this whole project was to unleash his son’s creativity. “Throughout this whole adventure, the goal was only to let Jake be creative as he wanted to be, and if it made people smile—then that was a bonus. The fact that over 20,000 people now have followed him on Instagram and Reddit is pretty mind-blowing, but as his dad, it doesn’t surprise me. He’s quite an amazing kid.” #16 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #17 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #18 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #19 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #20 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #21 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #22 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #23 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #24 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #25 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #26 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #27 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #28 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #29 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #30 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #31 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #32 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #33 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #34 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #35 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #36 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #37 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #38 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #39 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #40 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #41 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #42 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #43 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #44 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #45 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #46 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #47 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #48 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #49 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #50 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #51 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #52 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #53 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #54 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #55 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #56 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #57 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #58 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #59 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #60 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #61 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #62 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #63 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #64 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #65 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #66 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #67 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #68 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #69 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #70 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #71 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #72 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #73 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #74 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #75 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #76 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #77 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #78 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #79 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #80 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #81 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #82 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #83 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #84 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #85 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #86 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #87 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #88 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #89 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #90 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #91 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #92 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #93 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #94 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #95 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #96 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #97 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #98 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #99 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #100 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #101 Image credits: jakes_door_comics #14-year-oldArtist #Comics #HomepageFeatured #Bp-exclusive #ComicsOnBedroomDoorWhiteboard

TNT holds off San Miguel in Game 5 to move one win away from finals
PBA Media Bureau TNT KaTropa fended off repeated rallies by the San Miguel Beermen to notch a 101-94 win in Game Five and grab a pivotal 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Oppo PBA Philippine Cup semifinals Thursday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum. Jayson Castro, Ranidel De Ocampo and Kelly Williams scored 18 points apiece to spearhead TNT which can finish off the Beermen in Game Six and book a finals ticket on Saturday. TNT waxed hot early and got off to a 14-5 start. But the Beermen quickly recovered and even launched an 11-2 finishing kick to the first frame for a 32-24 advantage. KaTropa got their bearings back and eventually tied the game at 40-all. With just over three minutes left in the half, TNT had its own attack led by RR Pogoy who nailed seven straight points to fuel a 10-0 run that handed them a 50-40 halftime lead. TNT extended its lead to 13, 53-40, early in the third quarter but San Miguel suddenly came alive. The Beermen’s prolific starters mounted a furious 20-3 run capped by back-to-back triples from Alex Cabagnot and Marcio Lassiter to hand the lead back to the reigning titlists, 60-57. TNT however kept its composure, taking the lead back, 73-69, after big baskets by De Ocampo and Williams. Castro then scored five straight points to push TNT’s lead to eight, 80-72. San Miguel kept on fighting, coming to within a point, 83-82. But its comeback got derailed after Castro countered with four consecutive points and the Beermen missed four straight shots from the free throw line. Williams and Castro went on to make crucial baskets down the stretch to secure the win. Arwind Santos finished with 18 points while Marcio Lassiter added 16 markers. June Mar Fajardo was limited to 13 points but still had 15 boards as San Miguel’s starters carried much of the load again, scoring a combined total of 79 points. http://j.mp/2lVMk8O

Iloilo beats Zamboanga at home; SJ nips DavOcc in finals rematch
#PHnews: Iloilo beats Zamboanga at home; SJ nips DavOcc in finals rematch
MANILA -- Aaron Jeruta put the University of San Agustin Gym into frenzy as he scored the winning basket for Iloilo, which survived Zamboanga, 60-58, in a crucial MPBL Lakan Season game on Saturday night.
Jeruta, who struggled all game long scored on a layup against the defense of Robin Roño with 12.4 seconds left to break the 58-all deadlock.
"Aaron will always be Aaron. Sa wakas. Ilang game nang gigil na gigil siya. Sa wakas naman ay nabigiyan siya ng (Finally. He was longing for that opportunity. Finally, he was given a) chance for that bucket," said coach Eric Gonzales on Jeruta's game-winner.
Zamboanga still tried to steal the road win, but Anton Asistio and Santi Santillan misfired in their three-point attempts as time expired.
Alfrancis Tamsi led Iloilo, which zoomed to the fifth spot in the Southern Division at 16-10, with 17 points, three rebounds, and one steal.
Rey Publico added 14 points and nine rebounds.
Santillan made 15 markers, five boards, and one block for Zamboanga, which slipped to the sixth seed at 16-11.
Meanwhile, San Juan romped Davao Occidental, 84-65, in their highly anticipated finals rematch.
The Knights took control of much of the first half, opening a 43-17 lead with four minutes left in the half.
The Tigers tried to bounce back in the second half, drawing to within eight, 57-65, with 6:05 left in the game, but the Knights answered with the game-deciding 13-0 run to up the lead back to 21.
"Siyempre, nagulat kami sa maagang lamang, pero lumaban kami sa depensa, sa dikdikan. Naka-match kami, naka-execute at gumana ang depensa namin (Of course, the early lead surprised us but we fought back in defense. We’re able to match, executive and our defense worked)," said coach Randy Alcantara after the win.
Orlan Wamar put up 15 points, two rebounds, and two assists off the bench for San Juan, whose league-best record is now at 23-3, stretching its lead over Manila for the Northern Division top seed to a full game.
Yvan Ludovice and Mark Yee each had 14 markers for Davao Occidental, which fell to 21-4, with the latter achieving a double-double with 14 rebounds. (PNA)

England 57-15 Ireland PLAYER RATINGS: CJ Stander is not the ball-carrying phenomenon he once was
England beat Ireland in style with a 57-15 win over Twickenham on Saturday.
The side of Eddie Jones played in a warm match for the World Cup for the tournament in Japan
Sportsmail & # 39; s Will Kelleher and Rory Keane has the player ratings from both sides.
The men of Eddie Jones continued to riot after the break and Tom Curry also scored an attempt
ENGLAND
15 Elliot Daly 7 Try twelfth test after excellent draw-and-Give from Curry. Beaten for pace for Aki & # 39; s attempt though.
14 Joe Cokanasiga 8 Polynesian power out to score fourth and fifth attempts in just his seventh test.
13 Manu Tuilagi 9 (Marchant, 71 6) & # 39; Chief & # 39; ruled midfield with sensational power, defeated 7 defenders and made a well-deserved attempt.
12 Owen Farrell 7.5 (Francis, 68 6) Start this summer first, and back to almost his best. One missed kick will irritate him.
11 Jonny May 7 Unfortunately not to join the plethora of scorers, as he is usually the most productive finisher.
10 George Ford 7.5 Reunited with partner Farrell in the game making, and it worked brilliantly to pull Ireland apart.
Manu Tuilagi passes over and scores England & # 39; s third attempt at Ireland at Twickenham on 19
9 Ben Youngs 7 (Heinz, 546) led the gluttonous back division well. Must now be packed for cotton wool in Japan.
1 Joe Marler 7 (M Vunipola, 61.5) England glad he experienced the man again, reversing first start since retirement.
2 Jamie George 7 (Cowan-Dickie, 54 7) Hit all his lineouts and England already won their own scrums, just a good day.
3 Kyle Sinckler 7.5 (Cole, 60 6) Scrum strong and his agile touches bring others into space. Not just a piano shift.
4 Maro Itoje 7.5 Bal carries much better – typified by an excellent short line for his attempt. 14 equipment too.
5 George Cross 7.5 England won every lineout and disrupted five Irish – brilliant work.
6 Tom Curry 8 (Lawes, 57 6) Such an excellent talent, at only 21, and pigeon tail beautifully with Underhill.
7 Sam Underhill 8 (Wilson, 57 6) Shined in the sun with colleague & # 39; Kamikaze Kid & # 39; Curry with aggressive hits and silky hands.
8 Billy Vunipola Took 27 minutes to wear for the first time, but then turned off Ireland all afternoon.
English-language opening cam through Joe Cokanasiga after being cracked by the hosts
Substitutions: L Cowan-Dickie 7 (for George 54), M Vunipola 7 (for Marler 61), D Cole, C Lawes 7 (for Curry 57), M Wilson 7 ( for Underhill 58), W Heinz 7 (for Youngs 54), P Francis 7 (for Farrell 67), J Marchant 6 (for Tuilagi 71)
Ireland
15 Rob Kearney 6
Rolled back the years with all-action first half play, in defense and attack, but left Conway early in the second half.
14 Jordan Larmour 5
For all his elusive footwork and pace, Larmour plays in an era where size and power are king. Peripherals after pouncing for early attempt.
13 Garry Ringrose 4
Ireland's midfield defense was porous throughout the afternoon and Ringrose has enough anti-aircraft guns for this. Easy attack.
12 Bundee Aki 5
Outshone of Manu Tuilagi. Connacht center cannot be blamed for the industry, but Tuilagi is another level. Henshaw seems ready to return.
11 Jacob Stockdale 4
Intelligent chip and chase for opening an attempt but caught in no man's land for Cokanaisga and Tuilagi trying in the first half
10 Ross Byrne 6
Looked at the test level during the first half, but after the break errors occurred in his game. Learn from this.
Bundee Aki awaits the attention of Elliot Daly off to record Ireland's second attempt late on
9 Conor Murray 6
Like many of his teammates, the Munster saw scrum half far out of pace. Replaced midway after uncomfortable collision with Jonny May.
1 Cian Healy 6
[194590018] Thumping hit on George Ford set an early marker. Bumped away for the rest. He would be a huge loss in Japan.
2 Rory Best (capt) 4
Turned 37 years earlier this month and looked at it yesterday. The first half comes aside and he looked desperately out of the pace.
3 Tadhg Furlong 5
Another attacker who welcomed into the heat after a hectic first 20 minutes. Ireland needs more from him in the open field.
4 Iain Henderson 5
Made some big games in the first half with crucial revenue, but Ulster Lock has to fall for a faulty lineout.
Jordan Larmour crosses the line around the first attempt at the Twickenham collision for Ireland
5 Jean Kleyn 3
Joe Schmidt was set up in South Africa at 11 am to add some grunt to the peloton. A reality check.
6 Peter O & # 39; Mahony 4
A quiet season for province and country, and another decent outing yesterday. Credit at the bank, but Schmidt can opt for a change.
7 Josh van der Flier 6
Tireless competitor, but was the case during that opening round Six Nations Loss, he looks small according to international standards against England
8 CJ Stander 3
Not the ball-bearing phenomenon of a few seasons ago. When he stops on the gain line, it says on Plan B.
Substitutions: 16 Sean Cronin 6 (for Best 54) 17 Jack McGrath 5 (for Healy 39) 18 Andrew Porter 6 (for Furlong 54) 19 Devin Toner 5 (for Klyen 54) 20 Tadhg Beirne 5 (for Henderson 75) 21 Luke McGrath 4 (for Murray 30-38, 40) 22 Jack Carty 4 (for Carty 54) 23 Andrew Conway 5 (for Kearney 54)

Article By: Pat ‘Riot’ Whitaker, Senior Writer/Journalist ‡ Edited By: Leanne Ridgeway, Owner/Chief Editor
The year is 1969, the place is Toronto, Canada, more specifically, the hippie infested Spandina and Sussex Avenues, not far from the University Of Toronto campus.
Needless to say, the times… they are a’changing. While The 5th Dimension sing about “The Age Of Aquarius“, there is an altogether different age looming: The Seventies. Yet, before this particular year ends, a darkness will descend and eventually envelop the Flower Power children. A horrific, crystalline clear image of this change is relayed through a series of murders that takes place in Los Angeles between August 8th – 9th, claiming the lives of four people, including actress Sharon Tate.
Four months later, the “peace and love” mantra of the counterculture is effectively stamped out at the Altamont Speedway in northern Cali on December 6th. While bands like The Rolling Stones, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young have played, The Grateful Dead refused to go on and for good reason. A considerable amount of violence had already occurred, much of it at the hands of Hell’s Angels hired as security, and it included the stabbing death of a concert goer, along with three other “accidental” deaths.
Yes, it was a completely different vibe that was growing everywhere, including Toronto where a cast of musicians soon assembled themselves as BENT WIND. Before this happened, rhythm guitarist and vocalist Marty Roth was running a head shop where on occasion, if the door was open and things were just right, he heard faint wafts of live music played somewhere close. That turned out to be the basement of 57 Sussex Avenue where guitarist and vocalist Gerry Gibas (who Roth had previously been a bandmate of in The Roads To Ruin) was jamming with bassist Sebastian “Sudsy” Pelaia and drummer Eddie Thomas.
The quartet were soon jamming together, eventually taking the name decided on by Gibas, BENT WIND, as they ironed out original songs written mostly by Gibas. While other local acts were playing Simon & Garfunkel covers, BENT WIND were channeling their musical and external societal influences into songs they felt were “something special.” Plus, they vowed to never play cover songs, only original music that they themselves had created… and what creations they are.
Soon BENT WIND were performing live at a local 12-hour music festival – advertised as 12 bands over the span of 12 hours. It was only their fourth time playing live and due to the usual behind-the-scenes delays and issues, BENT WIND only played for 15 minutes – but it was the right 15 minutes, in front of the right person. That person was Merv Buchanan, owner of Trend Records, who approached the band as they were loading up and enticed them to record an album. A week later, they recorded their first single, “Sacred Cows”, with the b-side “Castles Made Of Men”.
The music of BENT WIND is quite heavy, undercurrents laden with acid rock and blues bearing the weight of massively thick, psych-fuzz guitar riffs. That is anchored down by steely rhythms, hammered into place by concussive drumming while hazy vocals float across it all. It is not happy-go-lucky music in the least, it is dark and sometimes frenzied, ominous even, and crafted with experimental qualities. Those include, for example, use of bird calls during the guitar break of a song about and inspired by a guy that murdered his girlfriend, as detailed in the 12-minute track “Riverside“.
All of this took place in 1969, over the span of a few months, and it culminated with BENT WIND releasing their début full-length album, ‘Sussex‘, before the new decade arrived. The album is adorned with a hand drawn sketch of a bird, unicorn, mushrooms, etc., by Gibas with a magic marker. It was pressed in very limited quantity, though how many exist exactly is still disputed, but today there is believed to be less than 500 copies circulating worldwide. When it was released, local Toronto music retailers priced the LP at $2.89, and what copies they had did not sell, most just sitting and gathering dust.
The album’s songs were all inspired by the real life existence and denizens of the Sussex Avenue vicinity. In the years since its release, ‘Sussex‘ has gone on to become a highly sought piece of Canadian music. The album is now considered one of the more rare, highly collectible albums in the world of music, with original pressings fetching thousands of dollars on the collectors market. Recent retail transactions of the album have sold for upwards of $5,000 USD; not bad for an LP that radio refused to play and was recorded over a period of two days, with most of the songs recorded in one take.
youtube
BENT WIND played another four or five shows after the album was released and returned to Trend Studios in early 1970 to record a 45 single, “Leroy Goes West” and “The Leper.” However, before the recording can be released, BENT WIND called it a day and folded, with the master tapes of that single being lost along the way. They remain in limbo to this day, though a live rehearsal version of “Leroy Goes West” can be found on a collection of songs issued in 1970, ‘The Lost Ryerson Tapes‘.
The members of the band went on to do a variety of musical things separately until 1989, when after nearly twenty years defunct, Marty Roth believed the time was right to reform BENT WIND. Hopes of doing so with the original line up were soon dashed, when he discovered Eddie Thomas just no longer possessed the same drumming chops of his past. Then bassist “Sudsy” Pelaia had immediately laughed off the idea altogether when Roth pitched it to him, but Gerry Gibas was open to the return… at first. Roth wanted Gibas to move from lead guitar to bass, and then brought in a new guitarist, Robbie California (Robert Brockie), and drummer John Butt.
The renewed BENT WIND had a sound radically different than that of the past band, something determined after one practice and then Gerry Gibas promptly quit. The biggest difference was the guitar sound and playing, the results of moving Gibas to bass. Robbie’s method is clean and structured, inspired by blues and reggae, the exact opposite of Gerry’s original approach of fuzzed-out, incessant noodling. New bassist Bill Miller was then brought in and before the end of 1989, BENT WIND release a second album, ‘The Fourth Line Is… You Will‘. The title was a reference to people’s reactions anytime Marty Roth told them he was in a band, playing out in conversation as: The first line is… (Them) “What’s the name of the band?” The second line is… (Marty) “Bent Wind.” The third line is… (Them) “Never heard of ‘em“. The Fourth Line Is… “You Will” (Marty).
While the sophomore record was a respectable effort, its music is a far different cry than the ‘Sussex‘ era, as is the band’s third album that arrived in 1996, ‘Shadows On The Wall‘. Unable to recapture the band’s “glorious” past, BENT WIND gradually dissipated like dust in the wind, not coming to an official end, but an end nonetheless.
In a 2011 interview with It’s Psychedelic Baby magazine, Marty Roth told interviewer Klemen Breznikar the following:
“My whole intention in music was to write songs that people would like. It really never was about the money or the fame. If it was, I would have chosen a different route. Bent Wind’s ‘Sussex’ has been bootlegged and pirated numerous times around the world and although many people have capitalized on ‘Sussex’, the band itself, never made a cent. I just want to say, Thank you to all those who supported us over the years and I smoke a joint in your honor! As a matter of fact, make that two….“

The Rundown - Quarterfinals
There were only four teams in action this week as the Canada West Quarterfinals got underway in Vancouver and Saskatoon! The Regina Cougars headed to the left coast to play the UBC Thunderbirds while the Mount Royal Cougars went east to meet the Saskatchewan Huskies in best-of-three series to determine who would move on to play either Alberta or Manitoba next weekend. Results matter this week as two teams will see their seasons end, so let's get at it on The Rundown!
Friday night's game went in favour of just one team, and it wasn't the team who travelled. Emily Costales got things going for UBC at 5:50 of the first period, and Ashley McFadden made it 2-0 on the power-play at 16:12. The second period saw Madison Patrick make it 3-0 at 2:06, Emily Moore score the fourth UBC goal at 6:59 to end Morgan Baker's night, and Hannah Clayton-Carroll made it a 5-0 game by beating Jane Kish at 10:16. Through 30 minutes of hockey, UBC simply exerted their scoring will on Regina to jump out to a commanding lead. In a game that featured only one minor penalty through the first 40 minutes of play, UBC was able to capitalize on that advantage. The tables turned in the third period, though, when UBC was assessed two minor infractions, but the T-Birds penalty kill units did their jobs effectively. Regina had a handful of chances in this game, but UBC was relentless in their attack and forechecking pressure, often hemming the Cougars in their own zone for minutes at a time. In the end, they were too much for Regina on this night as UBC took Game One by that 5-0 score. Tory Micklash made 17 stops for the win and shutout while Morgan Baker took the loss after stopping 13 of 17 shots in 26:59 of action. For the record, Jane Kish stopped 11 of 12 shots in relief. Highlights are below!

After seeing UBC skate up and down the ice the night before, the second game in this series between UBC and Regina had an entirely different look as these two teams filled the penalty boxes all night. However, scoring wasn't limited by the parades to the sin bin. Adela Juzkova took an early tripping penalty that gave UBC a power-play, and they converted when Mikayla Ogrodniczuk's point shot was tipped by Mathea Fischer past Jane Kish at 2:41, and the T-Birds had the 1-0 lead. They'd double their lead five minutes later when Hannah Clayton-Carroll recovered from a fall into the boards to regain possession of the puck and find Brielle Bellerive out front who went short side on Kish for the 2-0 lead at 7:10! Regina needed to find some offence after surrendering seven-straight goals to UBC, and they finally cracked the goose egg just past the midway point of the period. While on the power-play, Tamara McVannel's point shot would be stopped by Tory Micklash, but Emma Waldenberger was in the right place to slide the rebound home at 12:11 as Regina cut the lead to 2-1! That score would hold through to the intermission. The second period started with another Regina penalty, and UBC would make them pay just as they did in the first period. Mathea Fischer wired a shot through a screen in front of Kish for the power-play goal and the 3-1 lead, and that would prompt the Cougars to swap Kish for Morgan Baker. Just 40 seconds after the goal and goalie change, Hannah Koroll would welcome Baker to the game by lighting the lamp behind her, and Madison Patrick would find the twine off a long point shot that found the top of the net as Baker had traffic in front, and it was 5-1 at 5:11. From there, things kind of went off the rails for Regina as they were whistled ten minor penalties and three game misconducts in the final 35 minutes of play. UBC, for their part, also took part in the penalty celebration with a handful of checks to the head and a roughing call, but the Cougars held a significant advantage when it came to time in the box. We wouldn't see any additional goals scored, but the key stat in this game was the 13 power-plays given to UBC compared to the five given to Regina. When the dust settled on this one, UBC swept the Cougars in two games with a 5-1 victory. Tory Micklash stopped 14 of 15 shots she faced for her second win in these playoffs while Jane Kish was assessed the loss in stopping just one of the four shots she faced in her 22:19 of work. For the record, Morgan Baker stopped 18 of 20 shots she faced in relief. Highlights are below!

Third-seeded UBC now advances to play second-seeded Manitoba in Winnipeg next weekend.
The series in Saskatoon showed all sorts of intrigue as these two teams had split the season series 2-2, and Mount Royal held a 14-12 advantage in goals through the four regular season games. Could Mount Royal win their first-ever Canada West playoff game? Could they do the unthinkable and upset the Canada West finalist from a year ago? Unfortunately, the answers to both questions on Friday was no. Saskatchewan got goals from Morgan Willoughby at 7:12 in the first period, three second period goals that included a power-play goal from Nicole Fry at 7:33, an Emily Upgang marker at 9:15, and a power-play goal from Kayla Kirwan at 13:01, and a third period power-play goal from Bailee Bourassa at 13:57 to skate to the 5-0 win. Saksatchewan's speed and skill was on display all night as they limited the Cougars to just six shots per period with very few being of the high-danger variety. In the end, Jessica Vance made all 18 saves for the win and shutout while Zoe De Beauville was credited with the loss as she stopped 17 of 21 shots in her 33:02 of work. Emma Pincott relieved De Beauville midway through the second, and she was good on 10 of 11 shots in her 26:58 of action. Obligatory Huskies GIF? How about Nicole Fry on her first-career Canada West goal!

Game Two on Saturday was a do-or-die for the Mount Royal Cougars as a loss would send them home for another summer while a win would not only extend the series, but be historic in its own right as their first playoff win in Canada West. After being shutout and dominated for long stretches the night before, the pressure was on as the Huskies looked for the sweep! Whatever head coach Scott Rivett said to his team prior to Game Two, the message was received as the Cougars looked like an entirely different team on this night. They stifled Saskatchewan breakouts and were quick on pucks in the neutral zone as they suffocated the home squad while playing with the last change. Anna Purschke would use the strong defence to pick up a puck in the neutral zone, get a step on a defender, and fire one that went under the bar past Jessica Vance on the glove-side that seemed to surprise the netminder to put the Cougars up 1-0 at 13:22! I might add that Purschke's shot was the first that Vance had seen in the game, so she may have been a little cold on that rocket from Purschke, but it counts all the same! That same suffocating defensive approach by the Cougars was employed in the second period, but Saksatchewan did have a couple of good chances. However, the goaltending of Zoe De Beauville was solid as she bounced back from her outing one night before where she was pulled in the second period. Through two periods of play, Mount Royal held the 1-0 lead, but found themselves being outshot badly in a 16-7 ratio. Early in the third period, Daria O'Neill hit Tianna Ko with a pass behind the net, and Ko spotted Breanne Trotter out front where she one-timed the feed from Ko past Vance to put the Cougars up 2-0 at 3:39! The Huskies began taking a few more chances offensively as they trailed by two goals, and they found chances only to be denied entirely by De Beauville. Late in the game, the Cougars would ice the game when O'Neill's blast on the power-play from the point was tipped in front by Jayden Thorpe and past Vance at 18:24, and that would be all Mount Royal needed for their first-ever playoff win and, more importantly, a 3-0 win to even the series at 1-1! Zoe De Beauville stopped all 19 shots she faced for her first-career playoff win and her first-career playoff shutout while Jessica Vance was on the losing end of a nine-save performance. Here are your highlights!

Who's ready for a little Sunday evening hockey? If you had said either the Mount Royal Cougars or the Saskatchewan Huskies, you'd be right because this series ended in a way only these two evenly-matched teams could play. Hold on for this one, folks - it was an incredible night of puck! The first period was all about limiting chances as neither side allowed many chances. Both Zoe De Beauville and Jessica Vance stood their ground in keeping the opposition off the board. Mount Royal was called for a penalty, but they would kill that off. At the end of 20 minutes, it was still 0-0 with Saskatchewan leading in shots 8-5. Early in the second period, the Huskies found the back of the net after controlling the puck in the Mount Royal zone for some time. Emily Upgang and Brooklyn Haubrich won a puck battle in behind the Cougars' net, sending the puck into the slot where Bailee Bourassa wired it home past De Beauville for the 1-0 Huskies lead at 1:53! The rest of the period was played more like the first period as both teams clamped down in the defensive zone, and after 40 minutes the Huskies held the 1-0 lead and a 17-11 edge in shots. Saskatchewan came out and looked to double their lead as they pressed, but Mount Royal continued to repel the opportunities. After killing off a penalty, the Cougars went to the power-play when Saskatchewan's Jordyn Holmes was called for hooking. The momentum built off the penalty kill carried over as the Cougars moved the puck well. The Huskies penalty had just expired when Tatum Amy's wrist shot from the point found a path through traffic and past Vance into the back of the net at 17:01 to tie the game at 1-1! When the final horn sounded, the game remained deadlocked at 1-1, so it was time for the most exciting hockey of the season as Game Three went to overtime with the next goal guaranteeing advancement! The first overtime period saw Saskatchewan dominate the ten-minute period as they outshot Mount Royal 7-1, but there would be no goals scored. We'd move to the 20-minute double-overtime period where Saskatchewan continued to pepper Mount Royal with shots, outshooting the Cougars 13-3 in this period, but the Cougars would not allow the Huskies to score. The third overtime period saw more Saskatchewan pressure as they outshot Mount Royal 34-10 in the free hockey, but it would be the 34th shot in overtime and 60th of the night for the Huskies that was the difference!

Shyan Elias forced the turnover in the Mount Royal zone, and her pass found Rachel Lundberg who one-timed the puck past Zoe De Beauville with 10.7 seconds to play in the game for the 2-1 triple-overtime victory! Saskatchewan wins 2-1 in the game and 2-1 in the series! Jessica Vance stopped 24 shots in 109:50 of work for the victory while Zoe De Beauville made 58 stops in the triple-overtime loss. Fourth-seeded Saskatchewan now advances to play first-seeded Alberta in Edmonton next weekend.

The Last Word
There isn't a lot to report on in the first five games of the Canada West playoffs, but there some stats that stick out for the two teams that advanced. First, the Saskatchewan power-play was 3/10 against Mount Royal, accounting for 3/7 goals scored in the series. UBC's power-play was 3/14 in their series against Regina, accounting for 3/10 goals scored in the series. Both teams used strong power-plays to help them advance, and both Alberta and Manitoba will need to be cognizant of this as they open their series. On the flip side, Saskatchewan killed 4/5 penalties against Mount Royal, so Alberta will need to work hard in both forcing the Huskies to take penalties and then on the power-play where the Saskatchewan penalty killers are doing their parts. UBC's penalty killers were successful on 6/7 penalties they took, so Manitoba's power-play will have to be at the top of its game in order to win the special teams battle. I expect some close games as Saskatchewan was 1-3-0 against Alberta, but was outscored just 6-2 in the four games. Saskatchewan is 1-7-0-0 in the last five seasons at Clare Drake Arena, so Alberta's dominance at home is well-documented. However, Alberta was just 1/15 on the power-play against Saskatchewan this season, so it will likely be five-on-five play that determined who wins this series. Alberta has outshot their opponents in 27 of 28 games this season, going 23-4-0 in those games so Saskatchewan will either need to weather that storm and look for opportunities or they'll need to bring every ounce of offence they have in their bag of tricks for every minute of play as Alberta did lose the one game where they were outshot this season. On the road, Saskatchewan was just 6-7-0-1 this season while Alberta posted the best record in the conference at home with a 13-1-0-0 while surrendering just seven goals in those 14 games. UBC went 2-0-2 in their games against Manitoba this season, and both teams scored nine goals against each other. These two teams might be the most evenly-matched squads in the playoffs with Manitoba holding a slight 4-3-0-1 edge over UBC at home in the regular season over the last five seasons. The key difference in this series is that Manitoba was 0/11 on the power-play against UBC this season while UBC was good on 4/13 power-play opportunities against the Bisons. If Manitoba gets into penalty trouble, that could be the break that the Thunderbirds can use to win the series. UBC was 9-2-2-1 on the road this season where they surrendered just 19 goals while Manitoba was 10-1-2-1 on Wayne Fleming Arena ice this season while scoring a conference-high 45 goals at home. Canada West playoff hockey continues next weekend so catch the action! Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice! from Sports News http://hockey-blog-in-canada.blogspot.com/2019/02/the-rundown-quarterfinals.html

Ramblings: Marchand, Kucherov, Zibanejad, Scheduling The Fantasy Playoffs, and Primary Apples (Feb 13)
Two of the top squads in the league battled on Tuesday when Calgary visited Tampa Bay. As per usual, the Kucherov-train would not be slowed. A goal and three helpers from the Russian phenom pushed the Bolts past the Flames 6-3.
Nikita Kucherov is up to 88 points in just 57 games. He’s clicking away at a 1.54 point-per-game pace. No one has achieved that feat in a full season since Joe Thornton threw down a 125 pointer in 2005-06.
  Kuch is a monster.
  **
Brayden Point chipped in with a goal and two helpers to propel his season total to 72 points in 56 games. Thank goodness Tampa is a no-tax state. That’s the only reason the Bolts will keep him at a reasonable number as an RFA this summer.
  **
Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan busted out of their mini-slump in the loss. They each had just two assists in their last five games coming into the evening.
  **
A couple of shutouts were sprinkled amongst the early games on Tuesday evening. The Stars blanked the Panthers 3-0 on the back of a two-goal performance by Tyler Seguin.
It was Anton Khudobin who stopped 30 on the evening. The Stars backup has played admirably this season and while Ben Bishop has been on the shelf of late. Bishop appears to be close as he’s been practicing hard for three straight days.
  **
Sergei Bobrovsky and Blue Jackets shutout were also on the fun end of a 3-0 victory, this time against the Caps. That’s four straight wins for the two-time Vezina winner. His owners have desperately needed this run.
As does Columbus if they hope to pull a ransom out of some team at the deadline.
CBJ continued to roll out a four-forward top power-play unit with Nick Foligno living in the net front. That has blasted Seth Jones to the second unit that is lucky to get the final 10 seconds of a man-advantage. It hasn’t slowed the 24-year-old down one iota though.
Jones tallied an even-strength assist in the victory to extend his point streak to four games and four points. He’s on pace to match his 57 points from a season ago despite seeing his PPTOI dip from three minutes a night during the first dozen games to under a minute the past month.
Jones is a horse and has proven capable of generating at five-on-five, but as Artemi Panarin's departure date looms, it’ll be difficult to bet on too many Blue Jackets that don’t see prime deployment.
On the bright side, perhaps Panarin leaving will facilitate Jones’ return to the top unit.
  **
The Canucks had hoped they wouldn’t need to give up a draft pick to patch up their current goaltending situation. After trading Anders Nilsson, and losing Mike McKenna to the wire, the team had Jacob Markstrom, Thatcher Demko and…. well, that’s it for goaltenders on NHL deals.
When Demko went down with a sprained knee, the team was forced to recall 19-year-old, Michael DiPietro from the Ottawa 67s on an emergency basis. They then decided that Markstrom needed a rest and tossed DiPietro to the wolves – in this case, the San Jose Sharks.
The 2017 Memorial Cup Champion allowed seven goals on 24 shots and was hung out to dry by his skaters on more than a few occasions.
Tuesday saw the team rectify the matter by sending a 2020 7th round pick to the New York Rangers in exchange for Marek Mazanec. The 27-year-old has been… a warm body in the AHL this year. Posting a 0.903 save percentage in 20 games.
The team is rushing to get immigration papers filed to have the former Predator in Anaheim to start on Wednesday.
  **
The Leafs defeated the listless Avalanche 5-2. Toronto scored three second period goals in just 109 seconds to bust this one open. Nazem Kadri scored two. Auston Matthews added a goal and two helpers and Freddie Andersen stopped 34 of 36.
William Nylander recorded an assist and five shots in just 13 minutes of ice.
That’s lucky number eight in the L column for the Avs. Things are spiralling quickly. They find themselves four points out of the second wildcard spot and tied with the Blackhawks.
  **
The Jets scored two third period goals to defeat the Rangers 4-3 on Tuesday. Mika Zibanejad kept his torrid goal-scoring pace with two markers in this one. He has 13 goals in his last 11 games and 25 on the season – two shy of his career-high mark set last season. The shooting percentage (15.2%) is due for a slight dip, but his metrics appear stable.
The 25-year-old looks every bit the part of number one centre on Broadway. Will people believe it heading into drafts next season? I’m guessing no.
  **
The Flyers came back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Wild 5-4. That’s 10 wins in the last 12 for Philly. This time it was Anthony Stolarz getting the victory. James van Riemsdyk tallied two – including the game winner on a powerplay with less than five minutes to play.
The highlight of the night came off the stick of Claude Giroux who also added an assist in this one.
  Clap. Clap. Boom.

  **
Many leagues have seen their trade deadline come and pass. Others are gearing up for theirs this weekend. For those using two-week playoff matchups, just a single week remains before the post-season begins.
Now may be the last opportunity you have to grab a player who will pay dividends for you when the games matter most.
The first thing you need to do is to isolate players with favourable schedules. Using the Frozen Pool Scheduling Planner is your first stop. For instance, in weeks 20-25 (where most two-week playoff matchup leagues are scheduled), Florida and CBJ have the most games with 22.
A team like Calgary has a league-high 13 home games and 21 overall – 13 of which are against teams outside of the playoffs as of today. That’s a juicy schedule.
Meanwhile, Nashville only has eight home games and 18 overall. Only six of those games are against non-playoff squads.
Finding favourable schedules is crucial in targeting players for your run. Perhaps take a swing at trading Roman Josi and a juicer for Mark Giordano in a one-year.
  **
The next street I like to walk is down is primary point alley. More specifically, from the last 4-6 weeks. Finding players who have been consistently driving offence – either by finishing or being the primary contributor on the assist is a great sign for potentially continued success. Goals are easy to identify, but those first assists are often squirrelled away but are juicy little nuggets.
Dating back to January 1, here are the players with the most primary assists:
  Patrick Kane – 14
Steven Stamkos – 11
Jakub Voracek – 10
Ryan O’Reilly – 10
Nikita Kucherov – 10
Torey Krug – 9
Sidney Crosby – 9
Brent Burns – 9
Mats Zuccarello – 9
Connor McDavid – 9
The obvious stars are expected to drive play and will be difficult to obtain. But not enough ink is being spilled over players like Voracek and O’Reilly. O’Reilly has 20 points in 18 games in 2019, while Voracek extended his point streak to eight games tonight and has points in 14 of his last 15 games.
Both are lining up for teams trying to push a hot run into a playoff berth and could be very useful in a fantasy playoff match. Additionally, their cost of acquisition is likely lower than more high-profile talents.
  **
Speaking of runs in 2019, the top two scorers from this calendar season met in Boston on Tuesday evening when Patty Kane and the Blackhawks hooked up with Brad Marchand and the Bruins.
Kane has been on another planet for months. After tonight he has 32 points in 16 games in 2019. He sits alone in second for NHL scoring and is just off pace to be just the sixth player in the last 20 years to record 120-plus points. With an assist on Tuesday Kane extended his point streak to 15 games and 32 points. He’s been held off the scoresheet just nine times this season and only once in back-to-back contests.
The hype around Marchand has been a touch more muted than his peer from the Windy City. But on Tuesday it was the Bs star who stole the show. After a goal and three assists in the 6-3 win, the 30-year-old has 10 goals and 28 points in 18 games since January 1, and 69 points in 56 games overall.
Over the last three seasons, Marchand’s 240 points in 204 games trials only Connor McDavid (289), Nikita Kucherov (269), Kane (246) and Sidney Crosby (243).
What an incredible asset he’s morphed into.
  **
Dylan Strome grabbed an assist in the loss to extend his point streak to five games and 10 points. He has 17 points in his last 10 games and his 31 points in 33 games since the trade sits amongst the top-45 in the league over that span.
Imagine my surprise when a 21-year-old with exceptional pedigree blossoms in a new environment with more exposure to talented players and offensive situations.
  Shocking stuff.

Costa Blanca Sth Bowls Roundup 6 July 18
San Miguel Bowls Club – week ending 6th July By Gail Willshire The Moors finished the league with a flourish this week, winning 14:0 away to Horadada Hawks, 148 points to 74. This result meant the team finished the season unbeaten, 32 points ahead of the nearest rivals and with a massive shot difference of 378. The results were as follows: Lynn Greenland, Linda Plaisted & Gary Raby 17:14; Jan Allen, Stuart Hemmings & Dave Greenland 26:12; Gail Willshire, Brian Allen & Fred Willshire 27:15; Tony Sansom, Don Whitney & Mary Dyer 35:6; Bob Nesbitt, Cliff Plaisted & Stuart Denholm 21:10 and Sue Milner, Lee Sinclair & Steve Cantley 22:17. The Christians faced the squad at the top of league, San Luis Wellingtons, hoping to get enough points to avoid relegation. Pat McEwan, Dave Champion & Dave McEwan managed a draw 16:16 against one of the most experenced trips on the Costa Blanca, and were holding the game until the opposition skip drew in with his last wood. Sheila Errington, Sandie Hannah & Brian Errington also managed a draw 15:15 against another very experienced team. The game was nip and tuck, 15:14 going into the final end when the opposition skip again came in for shot with his last wood. Ian hope, Alan Dobie & Mike Douglas finished with another draw 16:16, after having been 10:4 down after 9 ends but picking up a 5 on the 10th, bringing them back into the game. 3 points meant they had to rely on other results to see what would befall them, but this was just enough to keep them safe. San Miguel look forward to having two teams in the top division again next year. The Wasps sessions have come to an end for the summer but will start again on Wednesday 5th September 1:30 for 2:00. €5 for an afternoon’s bowling with shoes and woods available to borrow. For further information on San Miguel Bowls Club please contact the President Stuart Hemmings on 965720461, or the Secretary Gail Willshire on 965020492. Vistabella Bowls Report With Lynne Bishop The final game of the South Alicante Summer league for the GREENWAYS was played on Monday at home against the Quesada Blenheims, the Blenheims stood  a chance of winning the league but the Greenways team gave them a good fight for points, both sides had three wins but the overall shots swung in favour of the Greenways.  Captain Arthur Brown & vice Maggie Furness had a tough task of keeping over forty available players happy, they did incredibly well and the Greenways eventually finished fourth in the league..hopefully next year we will be able to submit two teams. Winning the points on this occasion were Mike Irwin, Arthur Brown & Peter Whitehall 21-9. Lynne Bishop, Mike Regan & Pat Rafferty 21-10 and Del Gunning, Charlie Watkins & Eric Bishop 20-10. Shots, VB 104(8) - 99(6) Quesada. Congratulations to San Luis the 2018  league Champions..they won every game except for one...the one we won! Thank you to all our Team Captains & Selectors for their hard work..a daunting task at times. Sue Wilson organised a Saturday morning Competition which  ran over eight weeks and was won by Mike Irwin, Mike was neck and neck with his closest contender Frank Barclay, it was so close it was down to a measure on a ditched wood that went in favour of Mike..Congratulations Mike and commiserations to Frank. Thank you Sue for running this. SABA KNOCKOUT. Both Lin Watkins & Maggie Furness have earned themselves a place in the semi finals of the Ladies Singles when they will be playing each other, good luck ladies...one of you will be in the final representing Vistabella! Also Lin & Charlie Watkins are through to the semi final of the mixed pairs. Good luck to all the Vistabella competitors in their next rounds, Arthur Brown & Martin Foulcer. Del Gunning & Gary Thorpe in the men’s pairs. Sandra Burrows & Maggie Furness in the Ladies pairs and Stuart Allman & Maggie Furness in the mixed pairs. That’s me now signing off for the summer...Hasta luego! COUNTRY BOWLS by Geoff Paylor The Country Bowls ‘ Badger’s’ travelled to San Luis on Monday 5th July for the last match of the summer season, and what a match, could it have been any closer with both teams going for second spot.? The morning was very hot as was some of the bowling. The ‘Badger’s’ played well against a very strong team from San Luis with  Brenda Jiggins, John Hassell and John Mallet winning with an amazing score of 36 – 2. ,  Joel Fernandez, Niel West and Phil Warrington with a score of 26 – 14. . 4 points in the bag. The team of Geoff Eggleton, Graham Richardson and Geoff Paylor met a very good trio and a skipper in good form losing 15 – 14. Ben Noke, Derek Jiggins and Andy Bryce played a very close game losing with a score of 12 – 14 on the last end. Craig Dyson in his first role as skip along with Dot Davies and Dave belton, and also Lynne Bryce in her first role as skip with Dean Webb and Dave Smith fought hard but were overcome in the end by the teams from San Luis.. The shot difference near the end was to our advantage and I started to believe we could grab 2nd spot in the league but the final couple of ends turned against us and we lost the shots 102 – 103 and settle for 3rd place which is a fantastic result for Country Bowls. As the out going skipper I would like to thank everyone but especially Andy Bryce, Ben Noke and Phil Warrington without whom we might not have finished the season.  Thank you to you all.  And a final note from Country Bowls committee to say a big thank you to Geoff Paylor for organising the teams. Thank you Geoff for your hard work.  For anymore information on Country Bowls please visit the website www.countrybowlsmurcia.com email [email protected] or ring 868183703 Emerald Isle Bowls Club by Elwyn Morris Monday the Victors travelled to Quesada Lancasters and had a great 10-4, aggregate 104-103 win. The winning trips were: S Kavanagh E Morris B Kavanagh 24-11 M Riley Parsons K Jolliffe 20-19, M Whitelock M Veale G Odell  17-16 C Thomas G Shoots M Odell  13-12 The Vulcans played La Siesta Wasps at home and the visitors took the game 8-6, aggregate 99-122, winning trips were A Brown S Watson  Close 24-11  B Doran L Freeman J Mullarkey 25-13, T Capewell C Ayling P Willicott 24-16 Horadada Bowls Club by Irene Graham On Monday of this week we played the last match of the Summer League Hurricane Division at home to San Miguel Moors.  To say it was not a good result for us is a bit tame as we lost on all six rinks and gained zero points.  However, in saying that, San Miguel put out their best players and we were up against it right from the start.  San Miguel played very well and well done to them to top the league.  The final shots were 74 for and 148 against.  Horadada finished up second bottom of the table with 57 points.  If only one team go down then this will be a good finishing result for us given the size of our club.  Well done to all the members who participated in the team and think positive for next season.  Thanks goes to our Team Captain Bill Stanaway for his efforts on the team selection.  It is never an easy job. After the match our spirits were raised with a bit of lunch and a drink at the Asia Restaurant in Pilar de la Horadada.  A good laugh and a natter soon chased away the blues. Horadada offers a warm welcome to new or experienced bowlers, and provides the necessary equipment.  Our roll-up days for this friendly club are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings.  Please contact Fred Trigwell on 659139129 for more information. Quesada Bowls Club Report by Dee Stephenson It’s been a nervous but exciting week for Quesada with the last matches of the season deciding the winners and losers! In the VCL league QBC Tigers finished the season with a fantastic result winning the Division C league by 11 points and confirming their promotion to Division B next season. The Lions were hot on the heels of San Luis Falcons throughout the season but couldn’t quite catch them and finished second in Division A of the VCL league. Great performances from the whole team in all of their games. The newly formed Cheetahs were QBC’s third team in the VCL league. Although finishing in last place in Division C, they put up a creditable performance against other experienced teams whilst managing the additional challenges of a very small squad. The camaraderie and support throughout the team has been a joy and this tenacious and determined team will be back next season to fight again! In the South Alicante Summer League, the Lancasters had a nail-biting match against the Emerald Isle Victors who won 10-4. But the Lancasters came extremely close to reversing the score and remaining in the division as 3 rinks went to the wire, only losing by one shot, including missing the overall shots by only one. Well done to the two winning rinks:  Mel Highland, Peter Farrell, Peter Bradbury, and Colin Highland, Angie Goddard and Steve Gray. The Blenheims also suffered a last minute disappointment following a very tough match against Vistabella Greenways. They needed 11 points from the match to overtake San Luis Wellingtons at the top of the league but it wasn’t to be. Vistabella won the match 8-6 with shots 104-99 which means The Blenheims finished the season in second place. Overall its been a very competitive season, with strong performances and undoubted commitment and tenacity from all of the Quesada members and players. Thanks to the Captains and selectors of the teams for their hard work and to all of the members who have supported as reserves and have given their time as Markers. Quesada Bowls Club is sponsored by Spanish Life Properties https://spanishlifepropertiessl.com/ San Luis Bowls Club Report 06.07.18. The South Alicante leagues have finally been completed; SL Wellingtons and Quesada Blenheims were fighting for top spot but SL Wellingtons finish CHAMPIONS of SPITFIRE DIVISION. South Alicante Summer League: Monday 2nd July SL Wellingtons away v San Miguel Christians, had a really close battle with 3 wins and 3 drawn games! shots 104-86, points 11-3. NEW MEMBERS: After a successful 2017/18 season, San Luis BC is looking to enter 4 teams again in both Monday & Friday Leagues for the 2018/19 winter season. We are always looking for new members especially those who are newer to bowls and want to try to start playing, or progress, in the leagues. Ideally anyone who wishes to join San Luis should give their notice of intent BY the end of July as at the beginning of August we will be forming our squads and any late joiners will play where needed. For results etc. Club website: www.sanluisbowls.byethost7.com For general information about San Luis Club, contact June Jones, Captain: 691903773. Sheila Cammack

Carriage Club – Miami Beach Oceanfront Luxury Condos
The Carriage Club has incredible ocean, bay and city views and year-round bay and ocean breezes. Miami Beach’s Mid Beach – Millionaires Row area has long been very desirable because it is a narrow strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and Indian Creek, allowing for oceanfront living, as well as ocean access boating from the Indian Creek docks! Also, this neighborhood is just a bike ride from Lincoln Road.
Miami Condo Lifestyle
The whole world wants to be in Miami Beach. For the weather, the music, the fashions, the flavor of the tropics infused with a cosmopolitan style found nowhere else on the planet. A business capital with five-star hotels and hip restaurants, jungle gardens and coral reefs. Living in Miami is an endless feast for senses. And living at Carriage Club Condos puts it within easy reach.
