Aren’t the merchants lucky! With the ROS roll they got an addition to the family [38 “The Nose Knows”]. Even if that elder can’t help them with the business, he can stay at home with the kids.

According to the ROS, an old man whose wife died is so stinky they won’t accept him in the almshouse or anywhere else. Perhaps he stopped taking care of his hygiene after his wife died or something... In my mind he could be an old friend of some distant family member and perhaps that’s even why the merchants decided to live in this village, because they wanted to help the poor and old. They are quite nice, though also money-driven. As per the ROS, I could keep any money this new sim has, but I just got him a double bed.

I rolled for his aspiration and he turned out to be a Romance sim (I swear, with the random aspirations I get way too many Romance sims). I decided to choose his personality manually, as he’s supposed to be quite sloppy, so he got 0 neat points. I also have no idea what class he’s supposed to be. I guess he’s of a fluid class. He ended up being like a live-in nanny for the Emeres and he quickly became friends with the entire family. Unfortunately, after this round alone he’s already halfway through his elderly years, so I guess if the Emeres want to still use his babysitting services, they should get to baby making the next round...

The guest – Myron Farina – got randomized into: Socially Awkward, Hot-Headed, Unlucky Gatherer with Green Thumb. And I added Slob to his traits for good measure.

Ernest got randomized into: Dramatic, Unstable Born Salesman, and Angler that’s Never Nude.

Bertha is a Dramatic Kleptomaniac who is also a Vehicle Enthusiast. I guess her wish would be to get a horse cart someday and she wouldn’t mind stealing for her business to do well... Maybe she’d like to steal horses?

Regarding the personalities:

Ernest is a Capricorn – 8 nice, 6 playful, 5 outgoing, 6 neat, 0 lazy.

Scarlet is a Taurus – 6 nice, 7 playful, 5 outgoing, 5 neat, 2 lazy.

Adelbert is like a better version of his father. He’s an Aquarius – 8 nice, 6 playful, 5 outgoing, 5 neat, 6 active. He’s definitely the heir.

Bertha is a Cancer. She’s quite a bit different from the rest of her family. She’s max active, 1 shy, 8 nice, 8 playful, 7 neat.

Although the twins have different star signs, they have the same one true hobby, Tinkering. The twins aged up into kids on Friday night, having learnt all of their toddler skills and the nursery rhyme. They got to enjoy some free time at the weekend before they would have to start learning at school, just like the gentry family! So they’ll go to school together!

The Emeres sold the stock they had bought from the townsfolk [some logs, carpets, poufs, tomatoes, herbs, and some basket weaving stuff], but they also kept selling the “exotic” décor they started off with.

They got to business rank 10 and Ernest got the memory of earning 100,000$, but his want somehow didn’t get fulfilled, so I’m not sure, if that really happened or not.

It was not all sunshine and rainbows, as the evil witch came to the lot multiple times and spawned roaches, but they were able to get rid of them, thankfully.

They ended up with a whopping 81,118$ in the bank on Sunday.

Since they started this round off with 21,081$, I calculated the tax off of 60,037$.

They also dug up a bone this round, but I forgot about taxing the 200$ treasure they got the previous round, so I’ll tax it this time – 80$.

12,007$ – tax.

2000$ – rent.

80$ – treasure tax.

~14050$ to the Royal Steward. There is 72,150$ in the treasury. I can build a monastery and a couple of different lots. Actually I also reached a milestone and my sims are now living in a Town. I could add noble families, as well… and I still can add 1 merchant family, which I haven’t added before… because as you can see, merchants are crazy. I could also build a university and an inn as well, but... I don’t think I would be able to send anyone to university just yet, with these steep fees...

6000$ – tithe. The Church has 16,100$. I’m not sure if 16.000$ is enough to build a monastery, sadly, if I wanted to use only the church money for it, so I’d have to use some money from the treasury...

After the tax the Emeres were left with 61,068$, and they ended up with 56,553$ after I got them entertainment/prestige items. I got their kids some objects to play with: a chess table, an instrument, a singing pulpit, and a mirror. Bertha would also like a ballet bare, but I’m afraid it’s not exactly the correct time period for that, though I quite like the idea.

They could get a rank up to gentry but they couldn’t buy a gentry house, so they’ll wait with that. They also need to keep some money, so that they could buy things from peasants and yeomen willing to sell them produce to resell [like they did last round, they spent like 10,000$ between rounds for that].

:D oh you just asked my favorite question

okay... it's a MUCH more mature/graphic show than tales of arcadia. The show is TV-MA instead of TV-Y7 because of nudity/language/violence, so I'm putting it under a cut with the important tags over it.

I don't recommend it if you're on the younger side of this fandom. In fact, if you're under 16, do not click under the cut.

That being said, I run another sideblog about it @toss-a-coin-to-your-stan-account so I'm VERY glad I get this ask to talk about one of my other favorite shows!

[TW: Violence, swearing, mention of nudity (but only shirtlessness in the gif used), discussion of abuse/child abuse, death, ableism, sterilization, genocide]

Okay so:

There's this guy named Geralt of Rivia

(In s2 his armor is gonna have abs plated on it but we won't speak of that)

He's a Witcher

He got mutated as a kid because mages wanted him to be stronger than humans in order to hunt monsters

(...sorta like s3 jim ig)

His mutations turned his hair white and his eyes yellow (and also the process to be mutated into a Witcher is BRUTAL and only 3/10 boys taken to Witcher schools survive them)

His mom left him on a roadside to be taken to one of the schools when he was a little boy :( #mommyissues

He's very grumpy >:/

In s1 alot of his dialogue is either "hmm" or "fuck"

He's scared of needing anyone because he doesn't want to get hurt/hurt them so he's kind of a brooding loner

He does talk to his horse though

Her name is Roach. He loves Roach. You love Roach. We all love Roach.

And Roach loves him too :)

Much of the fandom has branded him a horse girl for it (and for good reason)

He's not actually from Rivia!

He almost named himself Geralt Roger Eric du Haute Bellegarde (but his mentor smacked him upside the head and told him it sounded pretentious) and... *John Mulaney voice* none of that matters, but it's important to me that you know that

He's very grumpy but when he does smile it's very precious.

In half the episodes of s1 he's tagged along by this cutie of a bard!

His name is Jaskier. It means buttercup!

In the book series the show is based off of, book!geralt is MUCH NICER to his bard (Dandelion in the English translation of the books) but in the show he's like... this

Think... Shrek and Donkey

They're apparently friends for 22 years but the show never ages Jaskier in s1

(Cue MANY different immortal!jaskier headcanons)

(Also alot of Witcher fans like me got reminded of jaskier when Wizards showed us moppet!douxie with his lute)

It's VERY implied that jaskier is in unrequited love with geralt :( sad

One time Geralt says his singing is "like ordering a pie and finding it has no filling" and jaskier responds like >:0

also canonically Jaskier gives Geralt a bath before a court event and put chamomile oil on his "lovely bottom"

(yes that's what jaskier says)

And then there's a very forlorn bit of dialogue where Geralt is sitting in his tub getting all cleaned up and he's like "I need no one... and the last thing I want is someone needing me."

And Jaskier softly whispers "And yet... here we are."

Yeah

All this yearning happens while geralt is sitting in a tub without a scrap of clothing on him and that's a thing

Their friendship flips on a dime honestly one moment Geralt looks at Jaskier with puppy dog eyes and the next he's punching him in the gut. It's fun.

Jaskier isn't allowed to touch Roach

S1 basically centers around three storylines (which, full disclosure, is not handled very well at all)

It's centered around Geralt's storyline, as well as those of two other main characters: Yennefer and Ciri!

This is Yennefer of Vengerberg

(Aka Yenny Boo of My Heart <3)

She's a sorceress

She starts out as a very poorly treated farm girl with a hunched back and skewed jaw (it gets magically "fixed" which can be seen as playing into the "Magical Disability Cure" trope ://)

The Rectoress of this sorceress school called Aretuza senses that she can use magic (yen portals there on accident once to escape some bullies) and comes to her stepfather's farm to collect her

Her stepfather gives the Rectoress, Tissaia de Vries, four marks for her (which is barely anything, so he considered her worthless)

Yennefer is trained to hone her magic and she does get to ascend from her class (which is sort of like graduating except that tissaia would have turned her into an eel if she didn't)

The day comes where the sorceresses of aretuza get to choose which kingdom's court to join and Yennefer wants to go to aedirn but her lover betrays her *gasp* and tells this nasty wizard named Stregobor that she's quarter-elf

(If I get into how bad Stregobor is we'll be here forever so... think Merlin but Worse. Also he doesn't have the One (1) Redeeming Factor of raising Douxie and is a creep. Ew.)

Stregobor manipulates other mages into overriding yennefers own choice and sending her to Nilfgaard instead

And Nilfgaard is not good to it's mages so she was like um... no

Sorceresses are given a Transformation before they become court mages and yennefer uses hers to become more powerful. it fixes her jaw/back (even though it's not actually necessary to make her powerful.)

(This is where "Magical Disability Cure" trope comes in for some fans.)

She woos the king of aedirn into taking her into his court after all

(But one of her schoolmates gets sent in her place, Fringilla Vigo, and she ends up an Intimidating Villain. Her actress calls her Fringy for short. :) )

But it comes at the cost of her fertility - she's given an irreversible hysterectomy.

(Alot of misguided fans are like "oh it was her choice to give it up she shouldn't be acting like she was robbed" but it was either that or go to a court where she knew she'd be treated horribly so... shut up)

(Also the books are more clear in the fact that tissaia makes sterilization mandatory for aretuza students anyway so... shut up 2: electric boogaloo)

Her storyline in s1 is largely centered around trying to regain her fertility by means of 1.) a djinn 2.) dragon hearts

Also Geralt's eventually in love with her

(And so am I <3)

Her arc actually isn't about her thinking herself "monstrous" for being infertile *cough* black widow *cough* fuck you joss whedon *cough* but about her fighting tooth and nail to regain some of the autonomy taken from her, especially about her *choice* to have a child

Speaking of children, here's Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon... aka Ciri

She's a princess but her kingdom gets destroyed by Nilfgaard in s1, leaving her all alone ( :( ) and she spends the whole season running around the woods trying to find Geralt

Why?

The Law of Surprise

(...sigh)

(This is gonna be confusing no matter how good I explain it so let's go)

In the Witcher universe, there's a concept called the Law of Surprise.

It can be invoked/offered to someone else out of gratitude/desperation if they have nothing else to offer a person for their help.

It basically means that whoever offers the Law of Surprise can claim from the other person something they have but aren't aware of.

(Sometimes it's even explained as "give me what you see when you come home that you weren't expecting to find")

Geralt invokes this as a joke/a really Stupid Decision after saving the life of Ciri's father (in the books he's actually really methodical about it but... not in the show I guess)

He claims the law of surprise recklessly, completely unaware that Ciri's mother is pregnant. NO ONE is actually aware of this pregnancy until its indicated fifteen seconds after he invokes the law.

...so yeah he accidentally claimed (Aka surprise-adopted) ciri as an unborn child

He doesn't come back for 12 years until he hears that Nilfgaards coming for Cintra (Ciri's kingdom)

He comes and tells the queen, Calanthe, that he can protect Ciri but Alot Happens and he isn't There to take her to safety

So Calanthe tells Ciri to find Geralt because "he is your destiny"

She meets an elf boy named Dara in the woods (we LOVE dara) and learns that Calanthe, her grandmother, took part in the genocide of the elves and she learns alot of truths she was never told of

She spends s1 1.) Trying to find Geralt 2.) Understand her weird screaming powers 3.) Outrun Nilfgaard because they keep trying to capture her 4.) Learn the awful truth of what her family has done

(Also in s2 they give her darker eyebrows and fancy hair braids and honestly... it's Weird)

(S2 does give Jaskier a hat though)

(but apparently for about "47 seconds" according to his actor Joey Batey)

(He's also in that "The Amazing Devil" band that I hc Douxie likes :) )

(They're very good! I recommend.)

So... the whole first season is about Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri's storylines coming together! :)

So... yeah :> the reason I dread being disappointed next season is because the show has botched alot of charming elements of the book series (cutting a super important story that brings Geralt and Ciri together, making Geralt less witty/funny/kind to his Bard Best Friend, everything with the timelines of the first season (but they aren't doing weird timeline stuff in s2 I don't think), just alot of decisions to make the show edgier than the books), and between that and some Bad Rumors about how a beloved character from the books might get killed off, I'm preparing for some disappointment.

But! Who knows! I expected rise of the titans to be AMAZING, and it... wasn't, so obviously, Witcher s2, which I'm prepping to be disappointed by, is gonna be WONDERFUL. Because... PEMDAS :)

Anyway... I sort of went overboard, but if you like fantasy shows that deal with magic like tales of arcadia, but a bit more mature/violent/dealing with darker themes for older audiences, I recommend it.

Alright, I’ve been talking about The Witcher TV show for months and months, and now I’ve FINALLY seen it.

I've skimmed through the books here and there, but really I’m a diehard fan of the video games, particularly The Witcher 3 (I’ve played TW1 and TW2 as well). Because of all the hype, attention and love the TW3 got over the years, with even Henry Cavill being a major fan of the video games, Netflix went and made this tv show, with Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, The Witcher.

MY THOUGHTS

It was GOOD! \(^0^)/ I really liked it!

Alright, don’t get excited, I think this show had some serious problems. But we’ll start with the good before getting to the bad and the ugly.

THE GOOD

THE ACTING

Everyone was top notch, and did a fantastic job. I freaking LOVE Grandma Calanthe, omg. I wanted more of her, and Mama Tissaia, and the different sorceresses (when Sodden started I was like hooo boy, I know how this goes; the finale is WORTH the price of admission, folks).

I even liked Eclipse-Princess (her name escapes me, my bad; I was calling her Arya 2.0 in my head). Don’t think I effing missed how they threw in a nod to the Eclipse Princess from Blood & Wine; that was awesome, featuring the Black Sun “curse” again.

I already knew I was gonna HAVE to tune in to see Yennefer’s story, and it was every bit as superb as I suspected it would be. Dare I say it was THE most interesting story arc of the three? Caught me tearing up a few times. I still don’t see book/game/Polish Yennefer with her, but she did a GREAT job, nonetheless--her emotions and delivery and everything was excellent.

She sounds so dang young though, which throws me off with the timeline, cuz when exactly does Yenn’s story take place in all of this? It’s hard to match her with the more...well....matronly/mature persona we’re more familiar with in the games. But I guess she develops that over time, after getting to raise Ciri. Though this does put in better perspective why she was so mean to Ciri at first, calling her ugly and everything. She wanted a child so badly, and Geralt just...gets one by surprise, and she was feeling bitter, I see it now.

THE ACTION

And I gotta give it to Cavill. Boy can MOVE. My favorite moments with Cavill were when he was sword fighting; whoever choreographed all that needs a frikkin award. I imagined the Butcher of Blaviken just tearing up mofos, and that’s exactly what we got. And he was WERKING them pants! XD

Except we never really saw my favorite sign, Igni. Oh well. And I hate that he doesn’t have cat eyes. And the Toxicity ISTG makes him look like a vampire and makes no effing sense, but whatevs.

And sometimes he was sounding WAY too Batman or demonic with this really deep and gravelly voice -- I appreciate that he was trying to give us that gruff and sandpaper dry video game Geralt, but when they’d make him yell or be mad I was like JFC NOT TODAY SATAN. But an attempt was made, and I appreciate it. ^_^ He was fine for the most part. More than fine, even. As I said, the acting & action was great, and they played to Cavill’s strengths.

THE SPECIAL EFFECTS

I also thought the CGI was fine--not the best, no, but I’ve seen way worse in shows with bigger budgets. The dragons...eh.... And that kikimore.... Well, I’m just remembering the Polish tv show, the Hexer--BIG improvement. Trust me. O_O The practical effects were excellent. Even though they messed around A LOT with the Striga plot from TW1, and what it looked like, I did like that they stayed pretty faithful to the fight.

THE STORIES & CHARACTERS

IMO, the best episode was E04, with Pavetta & Duny. It was just REALLY well done, and the one I was LEAST expecting. My favorite episode was E06, with the dragon, because of course. Reminded me of Hercules the Legendary Journeys, IDKY. The finale was really good, too; I love the sorceresses and all the magic. And E07 when all the plots and flashbacks come together was great.

And now for MY COMPLAINTS

THE BAD

#1) OMG WTF WAS UP WITH THE TIMELINE?

I feel BAD for anyone who’s watching this show fresh, who’s never played the games, read the books, seen the Polish Hexer tv show, played Gwent, or anything related to the Witcher world.

I was thrown off several times, as they shot from Ciri running for her life or Geralt fighting a Striga in the present time; to Yennefer learning magic in the past. Geralt & Dandelion go on adventures Shrek & Donkey style--I ASSUMED in the present, with the Sylvan, Djinn & Dragon, until an episode or two later they’re in Cintra together in the PAST, and Ciri’s not even born yet, and we’re seeing a drunk Ermion/Mousesack and young Crach an Craite (I squeed, my dad~!! His accent was on point!), and Ciri’s mom and grandma. (And WOW, the lady they got to play the mom looks just like the actress playing Ciri--are they related?)

And they do this over and over again over the episodes--present day with Ciri, eff knows when with Geralt or Yennefer. Especially since you know from the books/games that they’re both almost 100 years old. Yenn keeps throwing out “it’s been decades“ this and “years” that. But W H E N though!?!

I mean, I could follow along, sure, but they REALLY needed to make it clearer SOONER for people who have NO idea who TF these people or which kingdoms are which, that some things are happening YEARS apart from each other. Pay attention to how many times GoT shoved those maps of Westeros and Essos in our faces. Or how different shows use color filters for flashbacks or something. Properly situate the audience in time AND space--we’re not Cirilla, who can travel willy nilly between both. They bounced back and forward between past and present with the toss of a frikkin coin.

And speaking of coins...

#2) THE MUSIC WAS...Well.

Anyone who knows me knows I fangirl HARD over the Witcher video game OSTs. And unfortunately, the music on the tv show was just...alright. :\ And for a franchise so closely connected to iconic music like the band Percival, it’s a crime against nature that the tv show never had a single track that made me go YES. Give it up for POLAND. The end credits song is okay, but I only started getting into it at like Episode 6, soooo... :\

And no, I didn’t like Toss A Coin to Your Witcher in this show. It didn’t sound like part of this medievalesque universe AT ALL, but something kinda pop/country, aimed at I don’t even know who. Sure, the dude playing Dandelion can sing. But so can Ed Sheeran, and when GoT got him to sing on the show, he sure AF didn’t bust out with the next Billboard Top 40 on us in the middle of nowhere.

#3) THE CHARACTER BONDING?

The acting was top notch...it was the plot/writing I didn’t like. Or rather, the relationships between the characters. I felt more for Yennefer & Istredd, and Geralt & Roach, and Ciri & the Elf boy (and her grandma), and even Pavetta & effing Duny/Emhyr (that royal piece of sh!te) than I did for any other characters on this whole show. And that’s a bit of a problem.

First off, I HATED how they made it seem that TEENAGED Ciri had no idea who TF Geralt was. TV Ciri’s gotta be what? 15? Geralt said something about it having been 12 years since Pavetta & Duny, but even that’s too old. Book!Ciri met Geralt IN the Brokilon or whatever forest with all the water drinking and the dryad queen and mess.

They were already obsessed with each other before the fall of Cintra even happened! Ciri was like 10 already when Geralt took Ciri to Kaer Morhen to start her Witcher training, but this girl on the show’s way older, and effing clueless. They don’t even meet til the final few SECONDS, wtf!! It’s just Destiny~! Destiny~! Child of Surprise, but we never even have a scene together~! Destiny~!

Speaking of children, we have Yennefer and Geralt, which was better, but again, WOAH with the pacing. I felt effing BAD for Istredd! :( I don’t really GET why Geralt & Yenn fell so hard for each other; I don’t really feel that connection. Geralt had just as much bonding time with that eclipse-princess! They only had the Djinn episode, really, and by the end of the Dragon episode it was already over!

I mean, yeah, in the books/game they have A LOT of ups and downs, but come on; we’ve already wasted so much time on Geralt & Triss (that homewrecking wench, I’m glad her airtime was minimal), and I just want more BAMF battle couple parents Geralt & Yenn raising Ciri already! >_<

Same with Geralt & Dandelion. Geralt’s kinda mean to him, which is fair; Geralt hates everyone. But I don’t feel where they’re friends at all, and they part at the end of the season on NOT great terms. I kinda feel Geralt doesn’t really like Dandelion at all. :( Even with the whole comedic relief Shrek schtick,

THE UGLY

#4) THE LENGTH

I dunno what’s up with all the 8 episode miniseries lately (GoT, Mandalorian, Witcher, etc), but it REALLY isn’t enough to really flesh out a story. Especially not one as convoluted as The Witcher, AKA the GoT of Poland.

Again, I REALLY feel for the casuals watching, who probably don’t know what the Conjunction of Spheres Istredd keeps referring to is, or what exactly a Witcher is, or why Ciri’s so dang special -- was Lara Dorren or the Elder Blood ever even MENTIONED???

We know Yenn’s got elf blood, but it’s waaaay more than that with Ciri -- though I don’t think they mentioned her elf blood, either, just that Calanthe’s grandmother or someone had their Banshee powers before Pavetta & Ciri.

BTW, wtf with Ermion/Mousesack? That’s gotta be a red herring or something. Cuz we know this dude’s old AF and thriving in Skellige, sooo....? TF. Why the Doppler? Why?

TBH this felt like Season 1A, if anything. I don’t feel the plot really progressed much at all, other than us getting Yennefer’s story. Ciri & Geralt finally meet (cliffhanger supreme right there), but jfc this felt like a prequel -- so much of the season was dedicated to backtracking us in a roundabout way up to the fall of Cintra, then skipping ahead to the Battle at Sodden Hill.

And why the heck did they wait so long to get to get to Vigelfortz!? That’s what I was sitting here WAITING for! You mean I gotta wait for Season TWO to see my Hanse in full force!? :( URGH. Reeeeeeeegiiiiiiiis~! :(

Maybe cut out some of the unnecessary nudity every frikkin where and tell the full frikkin story, hmm? (Yenn’s boobs look great, we got it the first 5 times. Meanwhile these cowards won’t even have a dude’s left testicle be shown on screen, but whatever.)

So yeah, those are my 4 biggest complaints.

Well, and that wig’s hard AF hair line, jfc.(I was DYING during the Pavetta & Duny scene, when Cavill was holding on to that wig for dear life. XD XD)

Otherwise, I really liked the show! B+!

In the mind of a “Top Tier” Protoss player

Hey guys, PtitDrogo here, after reading a really amazing post tournament write up by one of my favorite Magic player ( https://twitter.com/lsv/status/1105124626429079552 , seriously, if you’re even slighty into magic go read this) I felt like it would be kind of cool to write down how the past month went for me in term of strategy preparation for the last few tournaments I played, mainly focusing on wesg and WCS ro8.

You win some you lose some

To set the tone, before wesg I was of two minds about my play, I managed to qualify for the ro8 of WCS after beating Mana and Namshar, but I got seriously owned by Bly and Nerchio at IEM, not taking a single map and going home with 0 dollars.

It’s still honestly a little bit confusing to me, the same confidence in my ability to play a defensive style against mana completely failed against bly, and my faith in my timings that worked great against namshar just got dismantled by nerchio. I could go on longer about this but sometimes you just don’t play well, and I’ve learned that dwelling on it is the worst thing you can do.

All eyes on Spaghetti boy

Looking at the groups of WESG, a top 1 finish in my group would give me a good shot of having a “beatable” opponent in the bracket, and winning that match would mean winning 5k, so it was my objective coming into the event.

The man to beat being obviously reynor, who previously kind of walked on me in the last group stage of wcs, I had a couple of ideas in mind and also discovered some new cool stuff beforehand.

I now knew that he actually really liked hydralisk midgame, and I actually really liked it, what was once the bane of my existense is now a pretty manageable opening in my opinion since the hydralisk got quite a bit weaker, you really don’t have to play scared and can even pressure yourself.

I was practicing some kind of 3 base high eco Chargelot archon pressure and having so-so success with it, I kind of wasn’t sure if I wanted to go for it, but without a better idea that’s what I was gonna go for.

“Wow, he actually does open hydralisk every game”.

There’s a bit of a difference between telling yourself something and seeing it for yourself. After watching Probe vs Reynor It really hit my that reynor was playing hydralisks not only on big maps but on everymap, add to that a tendency to add some zerglings to deny the third, and 15 minutes before the start of my match I’m changing strategy without practicing it.

EDIT: Watching the vod of the Bo3, I actually was completely wrong, lol, I looked at the game at the only time he made some hydralisks, to secure a game already won by a roach nydus, and the other game was just a ling queen nydus, I guess I saw what I wanted to see !

“The Yoloswag build”

It’s honestly such a terrible build, it’s not a particulary strong push, and it relies on your opponent not going roachs and REALLY thinking you’re going for a macro while also being a little bit of a bad player for not using your prism.

This is just an 8 gate that wants to cancel its third base in the first place to being able to afford 8 gateways production in the first place, the idea is you poke with 2 archon, run away from the queen, cancel your third because of the nasty zerglings, and while you pretend to being completely owned you warp more archons and zealot in a corner and you go kill the guy, a classic really, and I knew it would be very effective againt lings into hydras, sometimes last minute change of plans do work, color me surprised.

“The 420 Blazing it DT drop”

This one has kind of a funny backstory to it, I was practicing with a zerg for IEM, and he really wanted me to play DT drop because he thought his opponent would do it for sure.

“Alright, but I really think it’s shit” is what I said.

2 hours later and a LOT of wins later, I had to concede that it was pretty good, to quote my practice partner “your Dts being 7 seconds faster is actually a pretty big problem”.

Sometimes you’re very wrong about what is good. Here’s the thing tho, I didn’t have time to check a vod to do the build, so I went by memory, old memories of 2017 in fact, and the way I remembered it you would have to cut a lot of workers and do a lot of little adjustements to get a very fast DT drop going even if it meant sacrificing some economy.

Turn out not a lot of protosses were doing it. The end result was 4 Dts being warped at 4:23, and most games they would just kill the third hatch. So I was feeling pretty confident it would work.

In my game against reynor I warped my Dts at 4:21.

They killed the third hatch.

I was honestly so confused as to why or how I managed to have a better timing than in the game I was practicing against the ia, but hey I’m not complaining.

Later Reynor told me he didn’t know Dts could come this fast, and the 4:20 DT drop kind of became a meme among players for the rest of the tournament, I haven’t warped exactly 4 Dts at 4:20 yet, but hey maybe next wcs I’ll do it without meaning to !

So I ended up with a very pretty to look at 10-0 score, wasn’t easy of course, Iasonu and Probe were two players I was also scared of but I thought that playing standard was my best bet and indeed it was, also almost lost a game to PsiArc where I was very behind in economy but managed to attack right before his bunker finished, sometime lucky.

There is no way the Germans can cross the Maginot Line

My opponent for the ro16 was Lambo, not a bad draw but not the best, I was confident I could win tho, and the new variation I was trying out in practice were going great, I had a great plan for the best of 5 and a build for every single maps.

All of that preparation came crashing down with a pretty swift 3-0 LOL.

Game 1 was death by 12 pool, Cuz here’s the thing, to get a 4:20 DT drop, you can’t probe scout, little guy needs to work overtime ! I actually was mainly hoping he wouldn’t have the balls to 12 pool game 1 and I was going to scout after core anyway, whats the worse that could happen?

Game 2 was a very good game until it all came crashing down, I actually very like this double stalker opening poke, I was practicing against a zerg and made 2 stalkers by mistake on this map, and the overlord that usually always manage to run away died this time, and the very confusing double stalker oracle move out forced quite a lot of lings. So I decided to run with it in the tournament

When I was trying to explain it to the other protoss as a “great opening that looks very confusing to the zerg but doesn’t actually do anything” they were unconvinced; Haters; when it becomes the norm in 2020 don’t forget about me.

In the actual game the 2 stalkers squad worked great, I actually even killed an overlord at his base ahahah. I was in a VERY strong position in the midgame, and thought there was no way I could lose.

Well, nydus happened, no warpin available, no recall, an awkward attempt at a basetrade and a very long death animation trying to rebuild my templar tech to spend my gas bank later, It’s 2-0.

Game 3 was just a standart 2 base nydus that if I was a few second faster to recall my oracle or if I wasn’t supply blocked on 53/54 to then warp one more stalker I would have won, oh well, sometime it’s just not going your way.

It was obviously very annoying to lose one step short of making 5k, but there was a silver lining to losing to hard and so quickly to cheese.

All of my preparation could still be used for WCS.

An FFA would pretty much have been the same right ?

The big Round robin was here, and good god is it spooky. All of the players there are good and even if 6 players out 8 makes it it is very very scary.

My goal coming into the group was to barely make it, “maybe 2 wins is enough to squeeze in” is what I thought.

The first thing that is interesting to note is that I got pretty lucky in the order of my matchs, my 4 first matchs were all PvZ, then on day 2 I got the two PvP and the PvT.

That made practice fairly easy and nobody was able to prepare for me for day 2 as I didn’t have any of the same match-ups.

Against Serral, I had a pretty good first game to be honest, even tho I didn’t do flashy damage with the DT drop I still kept the pressure with the archons and was in what I thought a pretty good situation with the army I wanted.

Here’s the thing tho, Serral is annoying, like VERY annoying with his mutalisks, so before moving out for a strong attack I overmade defensive structures by quite a bit (3 canons in natural mineral line lololol) because I felt like I could afford it. So when I pushed, as you might expect it, broodlords were already out, and even if it might not be a well known fact in the community yet, Lategame PvZ is pretty unwinnable, at least against serral, gg.

Game 2 was just an embarrassing game of me messing up my build order and losing my prism to 6 queens to then die to mutalisks and roachs. Not the most interesting of games and the kind of showing you really don’t wanna produce but it sadly happens too many times.

Against Reynor I’m actually blaming the first game loss directly onto serral. I actually very efficiently dealt with the mutalisks while teching to storm extremely fast (more on that later) and was in a very decent position. But I subconsciously felt like I needed to attack much faster than I actually had to because of the previous game (Check the Hive Drogo !! Scouting is allowed reeee) And just made the game extremely easy to play for reynor with a reckless attack.

The second game was just a meme, another case of 12 pool, but this time even tho I scout it very late I pull all of my probes and take a very efficient fight against the zerglings, and at this exact moment I am in a very good position.

The correct play was to make a stargate in the wall and just move out with the adept and leave the zealot home.

I didn’t finish the wall and moved out with 2 units, Reynor did a runby with some more lings and I had to go home.

I then proceed to not finish the wall and moved out with 3 units, Reynor did a runby with some more lings and I had to go home.

I then proceed to move out with 2 adepts leaving 2 at home, Reynor did a runby with some more lings and I had to recall home

I then proceed to try to finish the wall but Reynor did a runby with a LOT of zerglings and I had to gg back to the lobby.

This is the kind of game where you just feel very stupid, I like to call these games failing an IQ test, because thats what they truly are.

This is where I finally get the talk strategy, because there’s kind of of prerequisite to win games to be able to brag about how great of a strategical mastermind you are.

“The triple triple”

After all the hype about the 420 DT drop, the first thing I obviously was looking for was a build that would look like a DT drop, but was actually a complete blind counter to the usual DT drop response from most zergs.

Thus came to life the triple triple, 3 gate, 3 oracles, warp twice (not 3 times rip symmetry ) and then you just go for it. The gas timing is very similar, only one adept and stalker are produced by the gateway, you have a proxy pylon from your main that can directly warp low ground so that the overlord at the natural cant see it, and the one adept boy can walk around to deny lonely lings from getting vision. All of that for an explosive cocktail that will kill a zerg making roachs expecting Dts, not having enough spores or queens to handle the triple triple squad.

Also, I’ve come to realize in practice that it’s not even that bad of a build in the first place even if scouted really early for some reason.

This amazing innovation of the PvZ metagame that I’m sure will be a staple in the metagame (it won’t) allowed me to take a map off Lambo and Elazer, for the other map I had to resort to the amazing build that comes next.

“This is totally an archon drop I swear you better make roachs”

I really don’t know how to call this, You just go for the normal archon drop build except you mine more mineral and make an early forge, then take a third slightly faster than an archon drop timing and just make 4 templars super early so they can bank energy so you can do a +2 push with 8 storms extremely fast. While you’re doing the build you run around with your first few units to deny vision so the zerg gets scared and think he might have missed the prism.

Oh, and you also make a LOT of probes, I’m talking non stop, enough probes to fully saturate the third when its done.

“But Drogo, wouldn’t it be strictly better to just go storm drop? Zerg would actually see a prism and be scared and you would also do economic damage even if they make roachs !!”

And to that I say, I like to keep it simple ok, maybe next year when I actually get good at the game.

Anyway, This build actually gives you a pretty powerful set-up in the midgame, I used it to kill the Hydra bane of Lambo and succesfully defend the nydus onslaught of Elazer (I didn’t strictly do this against elazer actually, I was pretty scared of a spooky all-in), which is usually not possible unless you were a greedy boy in the early game. So all of that gave me 2 points on the board.

For the second day I had 2 PvP, a PvT, and a lot of times on my end to prepare. So I did, I watched a ton of rail footage, and observed that he wasn’t afraid to play his ladder builds in tournament, so I was feeling fairly confident I could just win by having stronger build orders.

Little did I know this would be the hardest series of the tournament by far.

The first game felt like a walk in the park at first, you’re going 3 phoenix against fast expand forge first? There is no way in hell I am losing this. I played it a little bit safer than I could have but I was very confident in my ability to hold his 2 base push.

Turn out, I was wrong, very wrong, Rail just made a bigger army and kept warping in, and eventually our armies got to a size where his two untouched immortal he had over me actually packed quite the punch and our upgrades were equal. So even with a third nexus mining for a while, I’m losing the game.

The second game I was sure of what he was going to do, some adepts with an expand and robo follow up, so my plan was pretty much to play with a lot of gates units and go Stargate to have good control of the game, simple plan, but effective.

The issue is, I forgot to prevent him from pylon blocking my wall, then I didn’t realise he let his pylon finish, I built my Stargate in vision of his pylon …

So yea I canceled that real fast and improvised a blink opening, a build I haven’t practiced in a really really long time, without any possibility of scouting, turned out I didn’t need to, since verdi went for his robo opening into constant presure with adepts sentry immortals, with me sitting and pure useless stalkers, down 1-0 and 30 supply, disruptor knocking at my front door, I didn’t like my odds one bit.

Oh well, sometime lucky.

I’m sure the third game will be much smoother.

This has to be a record for the most amounts of units lost to the 2 initial adepts in a professional game

There’s almost something peaceful about being so far behind, you can just try out wacky stuff and see if it works.

Which is somehow did, after two pretty successful adept and a basetrade clearly going in my favor, I brought back an impossible game and was very happy with myself.

If you’re wondering how on earth I managed to get surprised by 2 adepts, all I can say is that I was way too confident in my preparation, as I was so sure that he was going for his safe expand double probe scout strat, I didn’t have adepts on my mind until the last 3 seconds.

Overall I would say that my preparation for this serie was very bad, even tho I spent the most time on it, even if you can tell yourself beforehand to not mindgame yourself by thinking too hard, it can still very much happen.

So after that emotional roller coaster of a series, it was time to play a PvT against big Gabe, and I had quite the revolutionary strat prepared.

Sometime you watch one series that makes you fall in love with a strat, for me it was Zest vs Innovation where Zest defended a marine drop with 2 oracle and a phoenix, warped more adepts across the map and immediately killed Innovation, I thought to myself “I can do that” as it didn’t look too hard.

I hate Stargate openings in PvT, I truly hate them, I’m always in a good position with them but I always lose anyway, but on the other hand, I’ve loved shading adepts and oracle at random times since LOTV beta, so I thought it was worth to give it a shot, especially because I thought Gabe wouldn’t expect me to play stargate.

Worked just as planned, a refreshing turn of events after the last series.

The second game (what game on kairos ? never happened Protoss doesn’t lose PvT remember) is what I like to call “New Year Zero, the movie”. I really think this map is incredibly protoss favored, it’s really not on everymap that starting 2 forges because you’re supply blocked and can’t start your first colossus ends up being a the best decision you could have made.

After killing the Raven and a decent chunk of bio in the middle of the map, I thought I had a real timing there, I had 5 seconds of hesitation after seeing so many liberators, but after sending an hallucination and seeing that Heromarine was Still 1/1, I decided to A move into him anyway, it was either gonna be a genius, killer instinct like move, or another brick to the monument that is the ThrowGo Legacy, a win win really.

It went great and the twitch chat of that game had a very reasonable discussion about game design talking about how great it was that protoss could attack into this many liberators.

I don’t have much to say about the last Serie vs Showtime really, I was already qualified so all the presure was off and I felt great, and I don’t think I could talk at length about great of a strategical mastermind I am for faking going phoenix and actually going Dark templars !

He didn’t exactly do what I expected to him to do so this was pretty much freestyle that worked in my favor and not anything prepared.

The second game was a cheese that I had seen before, Double proxy gate zealot with canon rush, I was fairly confident that it was overall pretty bad, and this game didn’t change my mind.

So overall it’s a 5-2 Score !! This wasn’t what I expected at all and I was obviously thrilled, too bad I failed so many IQ tests otherwise the first place would have been easily in my grasp.

I have a lot of cool new strats with weird names prepared for LA, I hope I’ll win so I get to brag once again about how smart I am ! (not really).

HINCKLEY, Minn. — Isaac "Royal Storm" Dogboe's future was cloudy following back-to-back junior featherweight title fight losses to Emanuel Navarrete. Now, his future is brighter than ever.

Ghana's Dogboe defeated two-time title challenger Joet Gonzalez by a 10-round split decision in the featherweight main event Saturday evening at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota. The bout was a WBC title eliminator, and Dogboe won the WBO International title, putting him in a prime position to challenge for a world title.

Dogboe (24-2, 15 KOs), who won the first three rounds on two of the scorecards, swept the 10th to earn the win by scores of 96-94 on two cards. Gonzalez prevailed by the same margin on the other card. Dogboe said, “I said to the people that my journey can be a Hollywood blockbuster movie, and I praise God always. “I’ve always seen {trainer} Barry {Hunter} as a very inspirational person, a father figure. He’s a person that when it seems like it’s all gone, he always has something to say to you. I really needed him in my corner. He was able to pull that extra strength in me out. I want to say thanks to Joet Gonzalez. He’s a true warrior. “Whoever the champions are, they should watch out. The ‘Royal Storm,’ I am back, baby!” Gonzalez (25-3, 15 KOs), who outlanded Dogboe 197-190, believed he did enough to earn the win. Last October, he lost a 12-round barnburner to Navarrete in his second bid for the WBO featherweight title. Despite falling short, he still hopes a third title opportunity is in his future. “Close fight. I thought I won the fight. I buckled him, I believe, twice in the fight. I stunned him," Gonzalez said. "He didn’t really land too many shots. I landed the cleaner, harder shots. I was pushing him back, and he was holding most of the time. Roughing me and trying to stop me. Welcome to the big show, Giovanni Cabrera. The Chicago native dropped Gabriel Flores Jr. three times en route to a dominant 10-round unanimous decision (98-89 3x) in the lightweight co-feature.

Cabrera exploded in the opening round, knocking down Flores with a straight right left seconds into the opening round. He added a second knockdown off a left hand that had Flores stumbling into the ropes.

Cabrera (21-0, 7 KOs) added a knockdown with a right hook in the fifth, but Flores, the fighting pride of Stockton, California, would not give in. Flores (21-2, 7 KOs) pressed forward in the fight's second half, doing enough to win a pair of rounds on all three judges' cards. But in the 10th round, Cabrera charged forward hoping for the knockout.

The knockout did not materialize, but Cabrera, who is trained by the legendary Freddie Roach, did not have to worry about the cards. He had done more than enough to author a signature victory.

“I felt amazing. It’s what we worked on in the gym," Cabrera said. "Everybody, I think, can see I’m a very slick boxer. As I’ve progressed in the professional ranks, there’s still growth to be had. There’s a lot to learn, and I have the best trainer in the world to do that. I’ve been working on my power. He felt it in the first round. Gabriel Flores is as tough as they come. It seem a long time since international cricket was played, although it’s been just a few months. But the volume of live action we are used to makes it seems like it’s been ages since a bowler ran in and a batsman took strike. The COVID-19 pandemic had put a stop to all sports, and cricket was no different. But the wait is going to get over today. The contest between bat and ball returns in a bio-secure bubble at the Ageas Bowl in England, where the hosts take on the West Indies to set the ball rolling with the first Test of the three-match series. And we, here at Timesofindia.com, are happily back to be with you and paint all the action in words, as it unfolds in Southampton. West Indies arrived in England well ahead of the scheduled start of the tour, as they had to go through a quarantine period before stepping onto the field. It has all gone smoothly so far and ECB would hope the bio-secure bubble remains impregnable. Some significant changes to start with: 1. There will be no crowd and the stands will be empty. The government hasn’t allowed that. 2. England will have a new captain, only for the first Test, though, as of now. Joe Root is away as he is going to be a Daddy again; and in his absence, the ECB has handed over the Test reins in the talented hands of Ben Stokes. 3. The bowlers can’t use saliva to shine the red cherry. That practrice has been prohibited by the ICC as a safety measure against COVID. And there’s lot more, plus details on the above. England will host West Indies in a three Test series. The first Test begins in Southampton on Wednesday (July 8). The second and the third Tests will be played at the same venue – the Old Trafford in Manchester. Both the captains, Ben Stokes (interim England captain) and Jason Holder (West Indies) are ready with their team sheets, the fans are waiting eagerly to tune in to the action on their television sets, the Ageas Bowl is decked up, and both the teams have their eyes set on the trophy. The countdown has begun for the umpires ‘let’s play’. This series will be very keenly watched by everyone around the world. After all it is the first series which will be played with the new restrictions in place. No crowds, a saliva ban and limited celebrations. THE SALIVA BAN – A CHALLENGE FOR THE BOWLERS The ICC has banned the use of saliva on the ball to counter the coronavirus threat. The international cricket body has confirmed interim changes to its playing regulations. “If a player does apply saliva to the ball, the umpires will manage the situation with some leniency during an initial period of adjustment for the players, but subsequent instances will result in the team receiving a warning,” according to an ICC release. “A team can be issued up to two warnings per innings but repeated use of saliva on the ball will result in a 5-run penalty to the batting side. Whenever saliva is applied to the ball, the umpires will be instructed to clean the ball before play recommences,” the release said. Though bowlers and fielders can apply sweat on the ball, the ban on saliva usage will perhaps make it quite difficult for the bowlers to get movement in the air. The star pacers of England and West Indies – James Anderson and Kemar Roach – are known for their swing and it will be interesting to see how they get movement in the air without using saliva. Former England spinner Monty Panesar recently said that he expects Anderson to be the first bowler to swing the ball without saliva. CLOSED DOORS, NO FANS, NO HIGH-FIVES Cricket without fans, who would have thought that this day would come. But, the series between England and West Indies will be played behind closed doors, with no fans in the stadiums and with multiple health protocols in place. There will be players, umpires and referees, but no fans to cheer their favourite players. There will be no high-fives or hugs or head rubs while celebrating a wicket or when a batsman crosses a milestone. Let’s not forget, England in England are a phenomenal side. They have played no cricket so far this year. So, everyone started afresh. For West Indies, they have a high chance of winning the series. Their bowling is amazing but their batting should be of high quality,” Butcher told Timesofindia.com in an exclusive interview. “The Windies batsmen need to at least put 300 plus totals in order to have a chance. Their bowling will do the rest. Put 300 plus total and England will be under pressure. That’s what Windies should do. In England, spinners play a big role when the pitch is already in use or some cricket has already been played on that. Since, this will be a fresh start, spinners might struggle. Spinners are not going to be effective,” Butcher, who played 3 Tests and 3 ODIs for England, said. On the other hand, former England spinner Monty Panesar said the series will be a contest between the Windies bowlers and the England batsmen. “The weakness, where it lies since Alastair Cook’s retirement is England’s batting. Their top six isn’t that great. I think it’s a great opportunity for the likes of the top six to get some runs and show that, but then Windies bowling is strong. Windies bowling is much stronger than their batting. They’ve got Kemar Roach. He is an amazing bowler. He has done well in conditions in England. He will be a key player in the Windies team,” Panesar said. “Holder as captain and a player is really good. He is a good all-rounder and his bowling is very handy in these conditions. Powerpuff Girls 2016 - “Tooth or Consequences”

A slight cavity.

An episode of the original Powerpuff Girls would start with the narrator saying what city this takes place in, and going into either a monologue or a fight scene. This episode of the reboot starts with an exterior shot of the house and generic sitcom music that wouldn't be too out of place in The Brady Bunch. This should be a hint on what we're in for.

Bubbles and Buttercup are having an argument over the lyrics to The Itsy Bitsy Spider. Bubbles says the spider went up the water spout, while the rascal decided it went for sauerkraut. In this episode, it's Bubbles that's the voice of reason! Buttercup tries to get Blossom to help her out, but Blossom is preoccupied with a pain in her tooth. She calls out to the Professor, and that loving father gives his loving response while washing the dishes.

Professor: Your tooth hurts? That’s great! (turns around, keeps washing dishes)

Sitcom music, sitcom Dad. After Buttercup sarcastically questions if there's anything more to it, saving me the trouble, the Professor tells him it's great because he's already scheduled their teeth cleaning! Blossom "Gallant" Utonium is confused, because she brushes five times after every meal. Buttercup "Goofus" Utonium, on the other hand, never brushes. She actually wants to get a cavity, because she wants to test her pain threshold against the drill.

Buttercup then explains what exactly happens at the dentist: once the dentist finds a bad tooth, the dentist gets a drill the size of the drills they use to get to the center of the Earth. Then the overly belted dentist drills and drills and drills, all for the purpose of pain! Buttercup's also taking the Rugrats' Angelica role Bubbles can fall into, too.

This utterly terrifies Blossom. The Professor tries to comfort her by saying that's not what really happens. Unfortunately, all he says is that it can't go to the center of the Earth.

People might think that a superhero that can lift cars, punch out giant monsters, and go into volcanoes without a scratch would not be afraid of the dentist, but she is supposed to be a 6 year old. Then again, isn't naivety more of a Bubbles thing than a Blossom thing? This universe clearly has it out for Blossom, as seen many times.

At the dentist, Blossom is still hyper-ventilating over the drill, and her name gets called. Blossom goes through a dark and flickering hallway, trying to calm herself down by telling herself that people don't usually die at the dentist. Then, she gets scared off by a shadowed person holding a drill, which turned out to be an electrician dealing with the flickering lights.

She rushes off into the bathroom, wondering about how to get out of going to that evil dentist. She then sees an open window, which shouts at her.

FREEDOM!

Yeah, they're still doing that. It's still not funny. It also doesn't lead anywhere.

Bubbles and Buttercup finish their visit to the dentist; Bubbles teeth are so good it would be used to advertise the place, and much to Buttercup's disappointment and effort, she does not have a cavity. Is this episode telling us that brushing is useless? Buttercup never brushes her teeth, and yet her teeth are still shiny! They didn't really connect this joke very well.

Blossom sneaks out of the door, and decides to lie her way out of this. It's not like she didn't do this before. The Professor is delighted, and wants to give the Powerpuff Girls a special treat!

He takes the three girls to eat crunchy ice cream with extra brittle to celebrate their good teeth! I guess if brushing is useless, anything goes. It would be clever if this was the Professor's way of getting Blossom to reveal that she's a dirty liar, but there's no real indication of that. It's just more oblivious Professor jokes and intentionally ugly eating!

Bubbles asks Blossom where her free toy is, and she said she didn't want one. Buttercup questions Blossom not accepting a reward for good behavior, and they both immediately figure out that Blossom is lying. The Professor also says something is fishy, but we then cut away to a salmon ice cream joke, so he can still be that sitcom Dad. Buttercup tells Blossom to take a big bite out of her ice cream.

I couldn’t even guess what was going to happen to get Blossom out of this situation: the cell phone hotline rings. It's so rare in this reboot; it's a big contrast from the original, and it's far from the only one. It turns out that Infernus is at it again. You know, Infernus, that villain that never appeared until this episode is "at it again"! Bubbles calls him a "hot-head", and that wasn't what I heard at first.

We then cut to Buttercup and Bubbles being stuck in Infernus’s claws. It's certainly not a piece of cake when Blossom has to be forced into saving her sisters. It would be clever if Bubbles and Buttercup intentionally got in this situation so that they can reveal that Blossom is a dirty liar, but there's no indication of that. This is essentially another "troublemaker has to save her sisters" scene, but it's Blossom instead of Buttercup. You'd think I'd be happy about it not being the boyish one this time. All I can say is, eh.

Part of the reason is that she isn't successful, as that toothache gets in the way. Infernus was practically made to be destroyed by Blossom's special ability to breathe ice, but because of that toothache, she breathes fire instead. This is one toothache. We then cut to the Powerpuff Home, Bubbles and Buttercup singed. That's the end of the superhero portion of this episode.

I am saying "Bubbles and Buttercup" a lot, but there is a slight difference between their two roles in this episode. Buttercup gets to make sarcastic quips throughout the entire episode, some of which feel like she's trying to do my job. As for Bubbles...she does this?

Bubbles: I don't know why, but I believe her! Buttercup: Uh, Bubbles? Bubbles: Oh! You can't lie to us!

Yeah, that's pretty much Bubbles' entire involvement, alongside getting a billboard for her healthy teeth. At least there's one joke they actually follow through on. Bubbles and Buttercup really want her to face the truth and go to the dentist, but the episode still has six minutes left. Bubbles draws a happy face on her bulging mouth so we have a joke later.

Blossom says she has it under control. She read on the internet that there's this natural remedy where she applies a "root" to the affected area. I can think of a few things that root resembles, at least one of which would have explained a lot. "Hot-head", indeed.

Blossom goes to sleep in her normal clothes, and we get this nightmare sequence where an evil dentist with a Freddy Krueger hand threatens to take out all of her teeth. You see, this scene is supposed to show that Blossom is afraid of the dentist! There's no way we would have known that from every second of this episode so far.

She wakes up, and forget the toothache, she apparently got possessed by Pazuzu! Not only does she become green, not only is she suddenly in her pajamas now, but she suddenly grew fingers. They know the fingers are there, as Buttercup mentions them, but the only thing close to an explanation is that Buttercup mentions the root not helping. The root would have no real payoff otherwise.

Buttercup tries to drag her to the dentist, but Blossom pushes her away and crashes through the wall. Bubbles echoes my sentiments exactly.

Bubbles: What is even happening?!

Blossom runs away. Literally, as this demon toothache apparently got rid of her ability to fly. Yeah, that's it. It also got rid of her thinking capability, as she's now bashing open toothbrush displays, beating up construction workers with jackhammers because it reminds her of that evil dentist, and speaking in Hulk speak!

Eventually, the Mayor finds Blossom, and because of that happy face Bubbles drew onto her devil toothache bump, he thinks that Blossom is a very happy two headed monster. I found that kind of charming, actually. He gathers up a mob consisting of parents that look exactly like their children, and they get out tiny little drills to fight it!

Blossom runs away, because those drills are far more frightening than jackhammers. The mob, however, eventually gets too out-of-breath to chase after her. That's pretty much the end of them, and it's not a bad end at all. It actually manages to be more of a parody of the "mob going after Frankenstein" trope than the time they actually tried to do it in The Squashening.

Blossom ends up on a cliff on a stormy night. There is no way this superhero can get out of this situation! Oh yeah, demon toothache did it! Bubbles and Buttercup show up to tell her that she can end this all by going to the dentist, but Blossom throws a rock at them. They dodge it, as if even they don't know if they could survive rocks. Buttercup threatens to give her another toothache. Considering the first, maybe she'll turn into an Eldritch horror.

The Professor shows up, and he reveals that he knows that Blossom dodged the dentist! He even prefaces this with "this may surprise you", because he's the wacky sitcom dad! I'd say more, but Buttercup echoed by sentiments exactly.

Buttercup: (sarcastically) Wow! What gave that away?

Hulk Blossom yells "NO DENTIST, SCARED!" The Professor easily forgives her, and tells her that he can be on her side to comfort her. With this assurance from her father figure she only called Dad once, she finally agrees to go to the dentist. Buttercup then punches Blossom into the Professor’s car. Because humor.

Blossom gets her demon possession/cavity fixed, as it apparently "wasn't that bad", and Blossom can finally tell Buttercup that her Itsy Bitsy Spider lyrics are wrong. The Professor even offers soft-serve ice cream. The episode ends with Blossom needing braces, and we cutaway to her having the exact same situation. This all shows that the smart one of the trio has learned nothing. Buttercup echoes my sentiments exactly.

Buttercup: Oh, come on!

While I talked about how this episode seems to teach that brushing is useless, I did research something. It turns out, brushing too often could damage your teeth. Being a superhero, maybe she brushed them so hard, that her super-enamel wore out more quickly than Buttercup can rot her super-enamel. Not only would a mention of this give an actual point to Blossom's "five times after every meal" line, but give another lesson for the kids. Oh well.

Does the title fit?

There certainly was a consequence.

How does it stack up?

The first time I watched this, I thought it was awful, but future viewings did soften my opinion a little. I can see that this episode is supposed to mirror a young child's fear of the dentist, and Blossom is supposed to be a young child even if they occasionally write situations fit for a high schooler for her and her sisters. While the monster transformation was a bit random, I can't exactly say it was uncreative.

Unlike Moral Decay, there's very little in this episode that shows that they even wanted to fit it into the superhero concept of the show. Home Sweet Homesick had that problem, and they made up for it with music and a good lesson. This didn't really do it for me. Those tired Sitcom Dad Professor jokes, jokes that have no point, and there's just a feeling of disconnection. This episode needs braces.

I don't hate this episode as much as I did, but it's still a low Neutral to me. Much like Phantasm Chasm, but for different reasons.

Next, Monkey Love, it's driving me mad, it's making me crazy. Crazy.

Nicknames: minikate is the most common one, but I actually love making up nicknames with my friends so depending on who you ask I can also be twin peanut, sestra, pato, pollito, cuca, sensei, frrndo or twisted sister. I call them all those things too. It’s complicated.

Favorite Bands: of all time? La Oreja de Van Gogh, Amaral, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, Papa Roach, Sick Puppies, OneRepublic, and I don’t know if that counts but Jeff Williams and her daughter Casey Lee are responsible for RWBY’s soundtrack and they are amazing.

When I Created This Blog: this blog was created bc Tumblr did something weird to my last one, minikate-24-05, and I wasn’t able to log in anymore. It’s abandoned now, and I created minikate--24-05 on June/July 2016 I think.

What I Post About: man. lots of different things. my forever fandoms, like ncis, star wars, avatar, harry potter lotr and similars, and then the ones I like/I’m following the show too, and the ones I’m currently having feels for. there’s also humor sometimes, and mental illness stuff. oh and ace posts.

Lucky Number: 15 used to be my basketball number (I’ve had to change it for this new season) and I think, in general, our team did pretty good. then there’s 24. it’s bittersweet.

Instruments: I used to want to learn how to play the drums. never did. instead, I learnt the basics of sweet flute and guitar at school. I don’t play anymore.

How Many Blankets I Sleep With: 1 in winter, 0 in summer cause UGH the heat.

Dream Job: something simple and relaxing, like librarian or something.

Dream Trip: [I’m gonna pretend it was plural] USA, to watch the walk of fame and the TV sets, the Grand Canyon, and Washington DC. Canada, to see lots of snow and someone. Go back to the UK to see all the Harry Potter stuff my parents didn’t wanna see the first time we went there, and someone. Iceland and Australia, because I’ve always wanted to go there. Norway, to see the fjords. Málaga, to go see a match of one of my favourite basketball teams on their own court.

Favorite Food: pasta and pizza, and I rarely never refuse a cake.
