White Day Chocolates for Ichika

Just like before, Ludger asked Julius to help him get inside the police stations for reasons he couldn’t say out loud. His brother agreed and wished him luck as Ludger navigated through the small crowds of officers to the SCRPO’s floor and waited by Ichika’s desk. When she arrived, he didn’t jump like before, but his face still couldn’t keep itself from turning red.

“G-Good afternoon, Hoshino-san! I’m sorry for running away last time– giving gifts outside the family circle is pretty new to me.” Ludger could give Julius a dollar store item and he’d still appreciate it; other people meanwhile… “Nii-san told me you liked the mug, a-and I’m glad! So… since it’s White Day, I made you chocolate!” 

Keeping with the cat theme, Ludger pre-arranged each individually wrapped piece of chocolate in the shape of his cat Lulu’s cute, round face (as he served as Ludger’s model) on a matching pawprint porcelain plate. Though the tinfoil on the chocolates were cut into squares, unwrapping one revealed even the chocolates were shaped like kitty heads! On the pieces were 2 green sugar dots for eyes and 1 pink dot for the nose, along with a very thing black frosting line for a smiling mouth. That last touch was hell to do, but like the mug, this was a multi-day project. 

“I-If you’ve never met my cat Lulu, you should sometime! We keep him in the back when Nii-san’s working, but he’s really good with strangers! I’m there too, but… I-I usually hang out with Lulu till closing.” At most Ludger occasionally appeared to serve coffee, but he’d fade into the background the moment he could. Letting him do the talking never ended well. “Visitors are welcome anytime, even after closing! A-All you have to do is knock!”

( late ) white day. || always accepting

─「市香」─  the PHONE of the SRCPO’s office had been ringing quite a lot when white day was approaching. well, it was the same deal with valentine’s given that young people give gifts to those they love. sometimes, that TRADITION got a little out of hand and there were several cases of stalkers being reported, both legitimate and some misunderstandings alike. needless to say, it had been very BUSY days for them as a whole.

                what she didn’t expect was, however, a familiar face standing at her desk when she returned from LUNCH. “ ah — ludger-san — ” was all she could get out before he stuttered out his apology for running away last time. of course, she didn’t think it was anything bad other than the fact that she couldn’t thank him proper before he left. and now, he presented her with yet ANOTHER GIFT.

                “ eh — for me ? y-you didn’t have to ... ! i ... i feel like i’m troubling you ... ” aaaah, she could feel the HEAT rushing to her cheeks and face. he had been so sweet to her ever since they met ( even not officially. ) and the adorable cat mug he gifted her on cat day is set upon her desk as she used it daily. ( and thought of him every time she did. )

                “ uwaaaaaah !! this is so cuteeee !! ” she was careful in unwrapping the DELICATELY ARRANGED confectionary he offered her. the pieces were arranged to form a round and adorable cat face that made her lime hues sparkle in delight. it was absolutely adorable that she felt like squealing out ( if she hadn’t done that already. ) “ the details are incredible. aah ... you’re so talented, ludger-san ! this must’ve been difficult to do. ” she was half speechless, half in awe for everything that was shown to her eyes. her heart was pounding just thinking of how much TIME he had spent in conjuring this up just for her. ah, she felt her face heating up again.

                “ i love it ... i love it so much. thank you. ah ... i wish i have something i could give you in return. they look too cute to eat. i don’t know if i could ... ” but if she didn’t, it’d be a waste of food, right ? the dilemma was real. she really wanted to freeze them and frame them. but maybe, she could take a picture then set it as wallpaper on her phone ? that way, his whole effort would be preserved, right ?

                “ do you have to return so soon ? or could you stay for a bit longer ? i’d love it if we could share them together. i’ll make some tea. i’m sure my supervisor wouldn’t mind if i extend my break just a little. ” it would be a waste for her to eat them alone, after all, he went through so much trouble of making them all for her. how he purposely made them CAT-THEMED was obvious enough. god, she had to place a hand over her chest. her heart was still pounding. it made her wonder if he knew the effect he had on her with such wonderful gifts.

                “ but i’ll take you up on that offer soon, ludger-san. i’d love to meet your cat, and i’ll get to see you too. ” did she just hint how seeing him would make her happy as did the cat ? maybe.
