@badheart said: "You know him," she added and even seemed slightly amused about it, considering how everything had begun, but looking at Han's features now, she got a bit unsure. In retrospect it almost felt like a bad idea to tell, as if she had just betrayed him, even though there was no contract or anything of the like between them. "Ah... I needed to go to South Korea and I wasn't quite sure if I could safely do so, so I dared to get in contact with the man, that liked to linger around the swimming club," she revealed and paused for a moment. Unsure about his possible reaction, especially after she had insisted of him being more careful. "I think he sees your group with different eyes now, as his own sees no value whatsoever in their people."
Her words did not remove any suspicion that he still carried about that man. However, it took a certain type of individual to earn her trust and even more-so, to get close, by the sound of it. He did not know how to feel or even think about this new information that he was provided—learning that she had taken off to his home country with another man that was not him. He felt jealous of that man's good fortune, yet Han resolved to conceal any emotions he might be harbouring at the moment.
"I'm glad you weren't alone, then." He admitted after a moment. The silence suddenly becoming too much, which urged him to start the engine and have the radio on. The music set on a low volume in order to still allow a conversation between them as he drove. The last time they had been together in a car had been on that damned stormy night... a thought that kept coming into mind due to how she had made him feel. How much he had desired back then. Her fingers holding onto her zipper, threatening to lower it down and give him what he wanted... It was distracting. "The Jingweon from our motherland isn't as merciful. In my opinion, it's an outdated way to carry out things." But they were strong for a reason, which wasn't something that Han could argue with. His shoulders offered a shrug while keeping his stare head on. "He's welcome to meet me, if he's still interested." Although, if his interest lie on him solely, was another thing. It was then, that Han's stare drifted in her direction. "How do you feel about him?"

19, 20, 21, 22 for the polycule of your choice? :0
whoops we're doing it for two of them :3 and I'll include Heith too
19 - Summarize your character's goals in one sentence.
Marcus: be okay and go home, but also never have to tell Heith about all of his lies by omission
Heith: figure out if she's actually for real serious about Marcus (she thinks she might be actually for real serious about Marcus) and one way or another move out of her hotel room on Aephar
Yera: be a mom and try to make peace with the fact that Marcus is not here to be a part of the family
Hossan: be a dad and help Umedes figure themself out
Gren: see Marcus again and hopefully find out that there was no need to be jealous about his girlfriend, and make sure everyone's okay, especially the baby
Pali: prevent Kiatcarmen from finding Marcus (though that isn't a very active job), make sure the shifter coalition in the court doesn't budge, and get somewhere with her studies of shifter magic
Umedes: figure out whether they want to have a kid or not help
Kiatcarmen: find Marcus, because Minaya must not ascend, and do whatever else she can to preserve her accomplishments in the kingdom
Pirianus: broaden Kiatcarmen's vision beyond legacy, or, failing that, as he has for some 30+ years, get her to open up to him
Caladea: see Marcus again, and for his polycule's sake believe with all her heart the lies they tell Kiatcarmen
Thade: continue completing the political project du jour and end up in a happily ever after with Pirianus, which might also make him more welcome in the palace
Orvi: complete the one thing he was installed in the palace to accomplish
20 - Who's in the way of those goals?
Marcus: his mother. Always his mother. And honestly a little bit himself
Heith: herself, mostly. This is so not like her - well, specifically the part where she's still here when there have been plenty of times to go home
Yera: realistically, Kiatcarmen. But she still sometimes feels like she's lost some of her verve
Hossan: Umedes is the big challenge here. They're just so indecisive
Gren: Kiatcarmen, but sometimes it's easier to focus on the fact that Marcus has an interstellar girlfriend that none of them have ever met and that's so frustrating
Pali: herself. There aren't enough hours in the day for everything, and she has to sleep ugh
Umedes: themself, because they were the one who said this would be a great idea for when Marcus comes back. Who 100% believed Pali and Minaya and her ferasca spouses that this would go great. And who also took one look at Yera & Hossan's baby and thought that maybe they were signing up for more than they realized
Kiatcarmen: Marcus. Always Marcus. But she also blames Minaya and Yera and Pali for his disappearance, and she needs Pirianus to just shut up. This would have been so much easier with Jimmy
Pirianus: Kiatcarmen because he put his eggs all in one basket. But he mostly blames himself
Caladea: Kiatcarmen, but she tries to focus on what she can do better, and how she's getting in her own way
Thade: he's beginning to suspect he's been in his own way this entire time but it can't be understated how much Pirianus is constantly hot and cold
Orvi: it changes frequently, but always some contingent of the court
21 - What is your character's relationship with their emotions?
Marcus: he can't control his bad emotions, so he suppresses them. This has never caused any problems
Heith: she's just as cynical about her emotions as she is about everything else, but sometimes she just can't not feel something completely unironically
Yera: she's gonna feel them whatever they are so [grits teeth] negative emotions are part of the fullness of experience (she will be screaming into this pillow later)
Hossan: left to his own devices, he would feel his emotions, and then let them cast away upon the wind. Being with Yera and Gren has made him learn how to interrogate them more
Gren: he feels everything. A lot. He also conceptualizes things in terms of feelings a lot
Pali: she would like to believe she doesn't have them, but then she lays awake at night deconstructing them
Umedes: they tend to put intense feelings away for later, but don't ever get to later unless later comes for them first
Kiatcarmen: her emotions are so rich and nuanced and nobody understands that, so all of her emotions collapse into some flavor of annoyance
Pirianus: don't like that feeling? Repress it! This will never result in it returning in continually more warped and incomprehensible forms
Caladea: being in the palace seems to have stunted her emotions - they're flatter, duller, and way more anxious no matter what they are
Thade: don't like that feeling? Deflect it! The more mirrors there are between you and your emotions the less you will ever know what they are and the less you can ever be responsible for them
Orvi: he has a mental Tupperware for emotions that allows him to keep control of himself. He is the only person on this list who will actually open that Tupperware on purpose later
22 - What regrets do they have, if any? (From any part of the story, not just exposition.)
Marcus: missing out on eight years of his "real" life, and especially not being there when Gren's grandmother died. If only he'd been stronger, he could have stayed
Heith: before finding out about Marcus, that she's kind of a flake to her band, but they don't seem to mind that much. After finding out about Marcus, that she ever thought there was some kind of "magic" between them and maybe she could feel naïve about love for two seconds
Yera: she regretted drifting away from her father and sister, so she's fixing that now
Hossan: most of his regrets are from the now-distant past and don't make much sense - even he will say so - but he always finds himself regretting that he can't seem to do more for people
Gren: not going home even more before his grandmother died, even though he was practically splitting his time between his home city and the palace. He also regrets letting Marcus leave, even though he had to, and there was no other real choice
Pali: after getting married, she got more distant from her professor mentor, and the regret hit her hard when they died
Umedes: most immediately, thinking that having a kid was a good idea (they are beginning to think that this is a pregnancy kink that got out of hand). But more than anything they regret not going with Marcus, even though they couldn't
Kiatcarmen: Ashmalo was a liability, but she still regrets that he died (despite her image she does not think that assassination is the right way to deal with most problems, including Ashmalo). Conversely, she regrets that she couldn't save Jimmy, even though medical science itself could not have saved Jimmy. She also regrets letting Minaya slip out from under her thumb, because if she hadn't, she wouldn't be stuck looking for her runaway son
Pirianus: that he can't seem to permanently extract himself from Thade. If he stops and thinks about it (read: gets drunk and sad) he regrets spending so many years of his life trying to get through to a woman who would just as soon throw him to the dogs
Caladea: that she couldn't do more for Marcus or Minaya or Ashmalo, and that she still can't. And that being stuck in the palace has left her struggling to try and pick up the pieces of her creativity and her passion even though it should have given her unlimited resources to pursue them
Thade: things he's said to people. Most of them used to be seared in his brain because he thought they were funny, and eventually he figured out that oh, maybe they weren't. But some of them seemed bad from the moment they came out of his mouth (not before that, unfortunately, because he wasn't thinking about it) and he wishes he could take them back for real, especially the things he's said to Pirianus
Orvi: that he's still here. He had one thing to accomplish, and even though it was complex, it's taking SO. LONG. He knew that marrying into the royal family meant that he probably wasn't going to permanently go home again, but the longer this drags on the less he even wants to show his face there, and he wonders if it was worth it at all
#I need to spend more time with Heith tbh. I know she must have other regrets in her life that feed into the cynicism#I'm just not totally sure what/what her situation is outside of her band#Kiatcarmen's polycule gives me the worst heartache help#I actually wrote like 2k words about some shit Thade said to Pirianus after she died and how that did not go well#honestly Thade also kind of regrets never yet telling Pirianus that he loves him as anything but a joke. but he's not unpacking that one#me: Pali was basically a wizard's apprentice before she got married but there are no wizards in this setting#me: wait#I think it's pretty clear actually that Pali doesn't really do regrets. she's maybe better at forgiving herself than any of the others#simultaneously laughing and crying when I imagine Umedes with the baby because they are TERRIFIED of hurting it somehow#despite normally being a very gentle person and very unlikely to do anything wrong#kink mention#c: Kiatcarmen#c: Orvi#c: Caladea#c: Pirianus#c: Thade#c: Marcus#c: Yera#c: Gren#c: Pali#c: Umedes#c: Hossan#c: Heith#wip: iecunem#50 questions ask game

Gojo Satoru
TW: dubcon-ish due to suggestiveness and alcohol, yandere, breakup, depression, schemes, manipulation, office au for some reason
part two in Gojo's pov
fem reader
It’s been two weeks since your breakup—since you got dumped on your sorry ass.
You wished you could say you were fine, wish you could say fuck that guy, anyway, good fucking riddance—that you’d make him regret it, that he didn’t know what he lost, that he’d come crawling back begging your forgiveness soon enough. You really wish you were that girl—the one who gets up and dusts off and gets back out there with her head still held high. You really do.
But no, you’re one of those girls who feel silly getting dressed—worried that you’re trying too hard. Fuck, it’s hopeless. You feel like shit, and you look like shit, and you don’t even want to go out anyway—it’s just some shitty office party at some shitty little bar where everyone’s going to make your breakup their business. It would be best not to go—leave them to talk shit about it behind your back.
Sure, you could slap on your best tough act and tell them all to go fuck themselves, but why bother? You’re just going to drink too much and end up doing something you regret.
And oh, how right you were.
It’s not even been a good few hours before you’ve got the office slut’s tongue down your throat—all but clinging to him as you press your body up against his. Manicured hands tussled in his pretty white locks, pulling on him while sucking each other’s faces, leeching off the feeling of his hands grabbing your waist—oh god, it feels good to be wanted again.
Yes—yes, this is what you need. Fuck your ex-boyfriend, he’s probably out fucking some skank himself. Well, two can play that game. He’ll see. You’ll make him see. That fucking asshole—
Oh no.
“Wait—stop,” you break off the desperate kissing.
Hanging your head while steadying your breath, you push both hands flat on his hard chest, keeping him distanced even as he leans after your lips.
You swallow thickly, then wipe your mouth, taking a step back. “The fuck am I doing…”
You don’t dare look back up at him. Beyond embarrassed, you just want to get out of there as quickly as your feet can carry you—catch the first cab home and forget all about it. Pretend it never happened.
“Sorry, ‘m gonna go,” you mumble as you start walking away, leaving your confused colleague behind, alone outside the bathroom stalls, still recovering.
You make your way down the hallway with dim neon lights flickering overhead, feeling swallowed up by the graffiti-littered walls.
What a sorry place for mistakes.
“Ugh, I can’t believe I was about to be one of those girls.” You shudder as you wrap yourself in your own hug, feeling silly for wearing a cropped jacket—and why the fuck is your dress so short? You’re not a fucking teenager anymore. “Fucking hell… I’m such a mess.”
“No, wait.” A tug of your jacket holds you in place. Oh, but you really don’t want to look at him. It’s humiliating enough already that you’d sought him out for validation—you don’t need his pity as well. It’s Gojo, for fuck’s sake. A different girl brings him lunch about every day—the whole office knows.
You might just die from the toll of it.
“Com’on. I’m perfect for this, aren’t I?” he asks under his breath while maneuvering you up against the wall again, his dewy breath brushing your scalp as he peers down at you in wait for your answer.
“What are you on about?” You veer away. You should be in a cab already. Better yet, you should have never gone out in the first place. What was your goal here anyway? To not wallow in your own worthlessness? And you really thought seeking Gojo’s seal of approval would make you feel any better about yourself? The office hottie and the century’s ultimate fuckboy?
Fuck, it’s so wrong on so many levels, you feel disgusted with yourself.
“We’re both drunk,” he states, but you don’t really want to hear it—head too filled with your own bullshit to heed any of his. You swear, if he tries any one of his sleazy pick-up lines on you, you’re gonna knee him right in the balls. It would be nice to get fired now anyway—you’d take it as a blessing.
What he says instead is unexpected—brutally and grossly honest, “You need a rebound, right? And I wanna fuck.”
Your thoughts stop shaming you as you look back at him, returning his gaze with an awaiting silence, allowing him to go on.
“So let’s use each other and blame it on the drink.”
It sounds like the lyrics of an angsty heartache song they might have played back inside the bar—the muted thuds seeping in through the walls makes it all but true. And still, there’s something oddly enticing about it, even as it makes you cringe.
“No hard feelings. No strings,” he continues, a small grin playing in the corner of his lips. “Just a good ol’ tit for tat.”
He almost sells it. But you’re just one too many bad nights too tired to buy.
“Don’t be dumb—” you dismiss and try nudging him away again—only, he doesn’t let up.
“C’mon—you’re angry, aren’t you?” he poses with a quirked brow. “What better way to stick it to him than fucking the hottest guy around?”
It stunts you. Suppose that had been exactly your objectives tonight, unknowingly and much to your shame. At least you can find some mediocre solace in your next confession, for as it turns out, “I’m not that kinda girl.”
It’s a depressing outcome. Made even shittier by how you sort of wish you were—that kind of girl. The type who doesn’t let anything get to her, who moves on and doesn’t think twice about it—who fucks the hot guy in front of her and wakes up feeling empowered the next morning. If only you weren’t such a tragic fucking loser…
“Be her for a night?” he suggests, still not having given up. He cups your chin and brushes a thumb over your lips. It’s really intimate, makes you feel pinned beneath that look in his eyes—as if the sky was coming down upon you. His words are low, brushing your face with heat as he says them, “I promise, I’ll make you feel so good you’ll forget all about him.”
Goddamn it—there it is, the fucking pick-up line. Now, it doesn’t really make your knees weak or anything, but you’re sorry to say you can’t deny it’s tempting, either.
Besides, you really didn’t want to go home and spend the night crying yourself to sleep—again, now paired with regrets about this night on top of it all.
You look at him through the thicket of your mascara, into those big blue puppy-dog eyes looking at you in something so strange such as earnest. Oh God, he really wants to do this for you, doesn’t he? He could go find himself any other girl—everyone had been eyeing him earlier—it’s not too late for him to simply go pick any one of them up.
Is this his way of being considerate—being a good colleague by offering you a fuck? Ugh… that makes you feel so fucking pathetic. But then again… why does it really matter? You couldn’t really stoop any lower at this point—might as well have some fun while at it, right?
You were out of ice cream anyway…
“C’mon,” he drawls, eyes growing heavier as he leans further in—once again, only a tiny inch separating you. So close you taste his breath and feel his voice on your lips. “Don’t make me beg.”
You don’t. No, you end up saying not another word. Too busy drowning your sorrows, getting drunk while kissing him breathless.
And oh, you and your bittersweet heartbreak taste so good on his tongue—coercing your boyfriend into dumping you was the greatest ploy for your heart he could ever do.

Friends With Benefits : ̗̀➛ Lando Norris
summary: you're so used to playing your games with lando, but when a chance at loves come your way, are you both ready to call it quits?
Your hands rested over your face as you rolled off of Lando, laying beside him, staring up at the ceiling of his plush apartment. Out of the corner of your eye you could see the wide smile on his face, his chest heaving as he tried his best to catch his breath again.
You reached across and took your phone, scrolling through what you had missed. Your notifications were pretty empty with the exception of one, groaning as you read through the message of a new contact you’d added, feeling guilt smack you in the face.
The noise you made had Lando glancing across at you, eyes studying you closely. You didn’t look happy after sleeping with him like you usually did, instead, you almost looked as if you were regretting it.
“Everything good?” Lando asked you, turning to lay on his side, smiling weakly across at you.
“Yeah, I’m all good,” you replied, your voice faltering. You turned your phone off, promising to make sure that you replied later on, tossing it onto the nightstand beside you.
As you and Lando laid in silence, your mind was still racing a thousand miles. You couldn’t shake the feeling of guilt that you had, having recently found yourself striking up a close friendship, or so you thought, with someone new, you weren’t sure if Lando was still the one for you anymore.
After a few minutes, you turned onto your side so that you were facing Lando too, tucking your hand underneath your pillow as Lando’s eyes landed on you too.
“How long do you see this being your future? Before you settle down?”
Lando’s shoulders shrugged in reply to you. “I’ve never really thought about it, I don’t exactly see myself settling down anytime soon. I’m just enjoying having fun. You?”
“I mean, it would be nice to settle down at some point.”
Lando’s lips pursed together, slightly taken aback by your response. He was sure that you enjoyed spending time with him as much as he did you, but now he wasn’t so sure.
“What are you trying to say?”
It had always meant nothing with Lando, and that was the way that you liked it. But now someone else had shown interest, someone who had the potential to be a bit more serious, you needed to weigh up which direction you wanted to take yourself in.
“Is there someone who makes you want to settle down?”
“Why’d you ask Lan?”
“Because you’re different,” he noted, “you wouldn’t usually ask me something like this.”
Your smile was weak, you were supposed to be happy but with the way that Lando looked at you, you couldn’t be enthusiastic. You were sure you’d shut things down with Lando with ease, but his eyes stared at you with sadness, almost making you feel guilty.
“I’d never make you do this if you didn’t want to.”
“I’ve always wanted to do this Lando,” you assured him, “why else do you still think I come every time that you call? I don’t know what it is that I want, I enjoy this, whatever this is but at the same time there’s a guy that I met. We only met a couple of weeks ago, but it just feels different, it’s more a date kind of thing, it’s not all about the sex.”
“Is he the only guy for you?” Lando asked you, his voice much quieter than it was before. “I mean if you want to settle down, is he the only guy you could see yourself doing it with?”
Your shoulders shrugged, you simply didn’t have the answer that Lando was looking for. You’d never really thought about Lando before, after all the two of you agreed to cut off any emotions when you agreed to your deal, but now he had your heart asking all sorts of questions.
“You just told me you didn’t want to settle down,” you sighed, “that kind of tells me that the two of us just want different things moving forwards Lando.”
“I’d make an exception though.”
Your eyes flickered up, it didn’t take a genius to know exactly who Lando was talking about, all he knew was that he couldn’t lose you.
“How can I trust that you really mean that? How do I trust that you’re not just saying that because you’re scared you’re going to lose the person you go to every time you want sex?”
“Because otherwise I’d just let you go and walk out of that door now.”
You went to speak, but quickly stopped, your mind foggy with thoughts. It was the easy choice to just go, but you didn’t always want to just take the easy choice in life.
“I’m not going to force you to stay.”
Your eyes closed as you tried your best to gather your thoughts. “I don’t know what I want right now Lando, I never thought that you would actually want me to stay.”
He surprised himself by how much he wanted you there, Lando had never anticipated quite how big of a role you would play in his life, but now he couldn’t imagine his life without you there.
“I know we would be good together, scrap that, I think we would be absolutely electric together.”
“It’s not as easy as just sleeping together though Lando.”
His head nodded, knowing exactly what he was getting himself into entering into a relationship with you, confident though that he could absolutely do it.
“I know, but that’s all part of the fun figuring it out, right?”
Lando brought his hand up, brushing it against the side of your face before cupping against your cheek, his touch more delicate than it ever had been before. Your eyes didn’t know where to look as Lando pulled you closer towards him, pressing a soft kiss to the top of your head.
“It’s not as easy as this Lan, there’s someone else involved here too. This guy is nice, he makes me feel as if I’m safe, I can’t remember the last time that I actually felt that way.”
“Who would you want to lose though? Me or him?”
It was the question that you didn’t want, at the start of the night your mind was made up, but now you found yourself leaning in the complete other direction, a direction you never actually managed yourself going in.
“Admit it, this has always felt special.”
“It’s felt special because of what we do, we barely talk Lando, you could probably barely tell me a single fact about myself, could you?”
“But I want to learn and find out more,” he argued, “I want to know all those little details about you, I want to talk to you about stupid things because that’s what proper couples do.”
“Do you really mean that Lando?”
His head nodded in reply straight away. “I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it. Just give me one chance to show you how serious I am, if I fail, then I’ll let you go.”
Lando’s eyes looked pleadingly at you, letting go of a shaky breath as your head nodded, trusting that your instincts would serve you well.
As much as the other guy made you smile, you couldn’t ignore the way that Lando made you feel, the excitement you had racing through your body every time you were in his company.
“Let’s go out tomorrow, my treat,” Lando suggested, “let me show you how serious I am and we can go on a date, get to know each other properly.”
“That would be good,” you whispered, “but you know I’ve got high expectations.”
“Don’t worry, I promise to live up to them.”

Hot To Go
Song inspo!! - HOTTOGO by Chappell Roan
Tags / cw: headcanons, cheerleader!reader x dropout!ellie, fluff, Highschool au, Ellie is older by 1 year, reader is in senior year, 90s era
Dropout!Ellie who always does her best to show up and be supportive of your cheerleading
She always makes sure to pick you up every Friday night after practice, long after the sun has set and dew had started to form on the cold grass field.
She makes sure to wait by her pickup truck in the parking lot, leaning against the drivers side door and listening to music on her walkman until you come over to meet her.
She always greets you with a kiss on the cheek and one of her jackets to keep you warm in your thin uniform - the smell of her wrapped around you makes you feel so cozy.
Dropout!Ellie who lets you hangout with her in the back of her truck after practice, eating the worst junk food known to man as you gossip about people from your school
You’re sitting in the back of her truck, cuddling her under a shared blanket as you share a greasy cheese pizza - your legs intertwined as you try to feed her a slice with her eyes closed, making you both giggle as she fails miserably.
While she dropped out a couple years ago, she was still in the grade above you, so you have some shared memories about school. There are certain people she knows about, but most of them that you gossip about are complete strangers.
“No fucking way, he still goes there? Dude’s like a super duper senior at this point!”
Dropout!Ellie who won’t let you go home without a proper goodbye, leading to giggly make out sessions in her truck as you both try to hide from the automatic nightlights in your driveway.
Dropout!Ellie who sneaks into your school to watch your routines during matches, and somehow never gets caught.
At this point, you’re 99% sure she’s bribing the office ladies not to rat her out because they still have a soft spot for her.
Ellie never fucking tells you when she’s gonna show up, so every single time it takes you by surprise when you see her hiding behind the bleachers and cheering you on as you balance at the top of the pyramid.
And every single time, you almost fall from how distracted you get.
Dropout!Ellie who tries to involve herself with your schoolwork and be helpful, but is the exact opposite of what she attempts to do.
You’re studying for finals at the park while Ellie swings upside down on some random tree branch, blasting rock so loud that you can hear it all the way on the bench.
All of a sudden you hear her run over to you, leaves crunching under her feet, and two heavy hands landing on your shoulders
“So whatcha doinggg??”
She immediately regrets asking, because now you’ve trapped her next to you and planted a massive textbook in front of her to help you study.
“Babe- I dropped out in grade ten there’s no way I can help with any of this shit-”
Secretly, she gets a little sad sometimes because she can’t connect with you about school or share classes with you since she dropped out.
Dropout!Ellie who tried doing your makeup once, and you never let her go near it again because of how bad it was.
“No- Ellie it’s meant to be sparkly on the inner corner-”
“Stop with the fucking medical terms and just let me-”
“WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO-”
You were 27 minutes late to practice that day because of how much Ellie insisted she do your makeup even though it wasn’t necessary.
You spent those 27 minutes desperately trying to wipe off the bright blue glitter she’d spread all the way up to your eyebrows.
Sometimes you still find pieces of glitter in your carpet from the whole fiasco.
You help her feel better, though, by letting her pick out which bows to put in your hair and which colours you can use for eyeshadow during games.
Dropout!Ellie who makes sure she’s always there with you during games, even when she can’t make it herself.
While you were busy getting dressed into your uniform, she was fiddling around with you pom-poms, eyeing all the pretty colours and sparkles.
She wanted to stay as long as she could until you had to leave for the game, because this time she couldn’t go with you.
But a sharpie on your desk caught her eye, and she suddenly had a small idea on what she could do.
And hours later, after the game, when you went to grab your stuff to leave, you noticed a tiny little black smudge on the handle of your pom-poms. And upon taking a closer look, a small smile made its way to your face after you saw your girlfriend’s faded initials hidden behind all the ribbons and plastic.
Dropout!Ellie who cannot wait for summer, when she can finally have you all to herself without school or practice or homework getting in the way.
Half of the summer you aren’t even sleeping at home. Instead, Ellie sneaks you out of the house and drives three hours into the middle of nowhere to look at the stars.
She puts up some blankets and pillows in the back of her truck, brings out a radio softly playing nirvana, and a Tupperware box of cookies she made to share as you lay in the back of her truck to stargaze.
She points out the bigger ones, and the ones making constellations to you as you wrap your arms around her and listen to her nerdy mumbling, slowly lulling you to sleep.
“See? That one there’s called Ursa Major. I uh, read it somewhere a while back in one of those astronomy books you got me.”
“…mhm…”
She giggles at your quiet chirps to her explanations as your slowly fall asleep, before pulling a blanket over you and lets you drift off under the stars.
And when you wake up - still outside in the back of her truck - resting on her now sleeping chest, you glance at Ellie and her resting expression. You watch how it becomes blanketed by the early morning sunrise, and you listen to how the radio is playing some indie country artist you couldn’t name.
And after a while, you decide that, despite the fact she’s a dropout and your a straight A cheerleader, and despair the fact that it is the most random pairing ever, you wouldn’t have it any other way.

"Actually I wanted to invite you to a fancy dinner at a restaurant," Futaba admitted, while welcoming him to her place, which was still rather cramped, considering the many boxes, as if they still had not fully managed to finish the move from their last place. "But I wanted to cook for you, which hopefully makes up for the lil' bit mess," she chuckled awkwardly. Honestly the bigger issue was the lack of space, so keeping some things in the boxes still was simply easier to store. Meanwhile Apollo had welcomed Han even more heartly, considering he had jumped him at first, before following him around till he was seated at the dinner table, where Apollo would sit right below the table with his head on Han's thigh, demanding some of the attention and food. The table was neatly decorated and just offered enough space for two, the candle was already lit and the food soon served, as she had tried her best to be done with it right before he comes. Hamburger and fries, with some extra salad. "I made it double," she smiled, as there were two slices of meat and to keep everything in place, it was pierced with a long wood stick, clearly meant to be cut and not be eaten with hands. "I also considered pancakes, but maybe another time," she offered, while appearing a bit red, before recalling that she still had to fill the glasses with red wine. More nervous than she thought after all, but more due to her own circumstances. "I really wanted to thank you again, I still cannot believe it , but please know, you helped us a lot with it."
When she first invited him to dinner, Han assumed it would be a simple outing—meeting at a restaurant to share a meal as a gesture of gratitude towards him. It wasn’t until he left his apartment and checked the address she had texted him that he realized it was in a residential area. “Oh, well,” he thought, realizing too late that he was overdressed for the occasion.
His eyes scanned the surroundings, noting the modest appearance of the apartment complex, a stark contrast to the luxury he was accustomed to. The units were smaller, and he could see signs of family life—children's clothes and bicycles scattered outside. It was a scene that felt strangely familiar, reminding him of a past he had long since left behind. Although, even this appeared glamorous by comparison.
Despite his current status, there was still a part of him that felt like an impostor, living a life that didn't quite fit. Could he ever settle for this? Han pondered to himself before finally ringing the bell, meeting Futaba with an awkward smile. "Too much?" He asked, in reference to his suit.
Han left his blazer and shoes by the door as he stepped inside, his eyes casually scanning the apartment. There was so much to take in, yet so little at the same time—most of her belongings were packed away in boxes, giving the place a transient feel. He didn't comment on it, sensing that this was something she would address if she wanted to. Instead, he simply navigated through the space, taking in the details without prying.
Only Futaba would think of serving wine along with a burger, smiling at the sight. "I'm touched," He confessed before giving his plate a good look. Despite it being a meal that he wouldn't particularly pick for himself, even Han could not deny it appeared appetizing. "No need to mention it." Han waved a hand, dismissing any concerns that she may have. "I didn't want you to stress over money. I've known what that's like." His confession wasn't planned, but the words rolled off his tongue so effortlessly, making it sound rather casual. "Apart from that, it must not be comfortable to owe money to someone your friend is now married to. Even if not directly him."

@badheart said: Rei would soon see the Ferris Wheel in the distance, possibly realising finally where he had brought her. Faintly recalling that she liked to go here, for reasons he still could not quite understand, as it was more city than nature, though the colorful lights sure added their own charm. Enhanced by the reflections in the water. The prior dinner had been nice, now they were walking near the piers. "You sure you aren't cold yet?" he teased.
the trip turned out to be unexpected due to how busy he had been lately—noting the stress upon his shoulder, by the way he tensed underneath her touch. even if he didn't share much, & while being no avid reader of the news, rei could tell that things were off. although, as of late, she suspected that something must have happened to take away some of that burden ; resuming his visits just as before or even smiling more often while being in her presence. despite jiro not being someone who shared about his day with her, rei took note of the small chances in his persona. such as when he was capable of putting work behind & focus on them. whatever it was, her eyes pretty much gleamed with excitement upon hearing they'd be going out.
a walk along the pier was pretty much needed after their dinner. her face had been stuffed with octopus that he fed her with, causing her cheeks to puff when she attempted to chew it all at once & swallow. he seemed to find it amusing, or even funny for some reason, while rei narrowed her eyes—the whole thing giving her the least threatening expression she could muster. she couldn't devour it like he could: with ease.
breathing in the costal air nearly caused her to sneeze due to how cool it was, tickling her nose. regardless, it was pleasant enough to enjoy the scenery by his side while holding onto his hand. her fingers curled around his, lingering in his touch.
"maybe a little." came her admission, even if everything else pointed at the fact that she was minimising it. her cheeks, as well as the tip of her ears, were painted a light tint of pink. as for her body as a whole, leaned against his, seeking some warmth. not the most ideal month to visit, perhaps, but she had wanted to visit yokohama for so long. a trip she never got to accomplish with the one she loved back then, resulting in one of many empty promises. "—but i like it here." rei added, turning her head towards him with a small smile on her lips. "it's my first time coming. i'm glad you could make time for this."

@badheart said: "Stop ignoring me," Jiro huffed rather annoyed. Enough with those childish games.
It was the first time she felt this disappointed in his reaction. After he left without much of an explanation, Rei waited for his return for an hour, giving her plenty of time to process what had happened. The longer she thought about it, the nastier she felt inside. Eventually, she stored all the food in containers, cleaned the table, and turned off the kitchen light before heading back to bed, feeling defeated. What she had hoped would be a nice excuse to celebrate with him turned out to be a bitter reminder of how inadequate she felt since becoming pregnant. She squeezed her eyes shut, rubbing them with the back of her hand as she tried to sleep, desperate to escape those tormenting thoughts. When she felt the mattress shift and his attempt to snuggle with her, it prompted her to get up. For once, she didn’t want to be touched by him. She got up with a blanket and went to sleep on the couch in the living room.
Him acting as if nothing had happened only added salt to her injury. She tried to ignore him to keep herself from saying something she might regret. It was exhausting to be this angry, but even more so, it was exhausting to pretend everything was okay. Rei gave in. “Do you even have a clue why I’m mad at you?” she asked in a low voice, frowning in his direction. “I went super early to the market to get fresh octopus. I cooked for hours and set the table, hoping to make you happy by celebrating you, and you undermined all my efforts by walking away. What am I supposed to think with that reaction? That I shouldn’t count on you as a father? That you will walk out on me whenever you want and leave me to bear everything on my own?”
It infuriated her, but the heartbreak over it was even greater. A glimpse of it slipped through her mask. “It broke my heart seeing you walk away like that… and I waited, like an idiot, because I missed you and couldn’t understand what I did wrong.” What had she done to prompt such a visceral reaction? It made her feel as if she couldn’t do anything right. “I try to understand you and be patient. I tell myself that you’re busy or stressed, but what about me? Why don’t you ever put yourself in my place? I left the apartment I had lived in since I moved to the city. I quit my job of four years. My clothes don’t fit because my body is changing. I feel sick, I feel tired. I feel undesirable. The wedding that I wanted to have before it was noticeable may not happen, and we don’t even have any furniture for the baby,” she said, her frustration palpable.
Her shoulders shook from sheer frustration before she looked down, feeling as if none of this would matter. He’d always attribute it to her hormones. “I feel so alone lately. It won’t go away even when you’re here because your mind is elsewhere. Because I feel like a burden to you. Because I can’t seem to please you,” she continued, tears welling up. She wiped them away immediately as if she wasn’t allowed to cry. “How would you have felt if I had walked out on you when you proposed? After all that effort? After all that planning? You might think it’s stupid, but it made me feel I’m not good enough for you.”

@causalitylinked said: "Could you cease your incessant wailing already?" Ryuto sighs while finally taking a seat next to her. "It's pathetic. Why are you so hung up on a man that would never reciprocate your affection in the first place?" Perhaps he could stand to phrase his question less insensitively, but considering he never knew what it was like to actually be in love, Hana's behaviour was pretty much unfathomable to him. Seriously, for the life of him, Ryuto could not understand why she couldn't simply find another man who might potentially love her back because that seemed like a much more efficient way to spend her time than pining after someone unattainable. [ for hana, from ryuto! ]
there were two immediate thoughts that came to mind upon hearing such a thing. one being, ‘ could you mind your own business?’. while the other was less snarky, & more self-aware as she wondered if she was really that obvious—staring at her phone with a pout on her lips. her reaction was no different from that she gave to others when they dared to give her unsolicited advice. even her mother had fallen victim to her attitude, becoming irritated & lashing out. hana would quickly pull her phone away & cross her arms over her chest, while trying to ignore his presence altogether.
“what do you know? he’s just a busy man. that’s all.” purposely ignoring the point of what he was saying. she was in full denial ; clinging to the hope that one day he’d realize his mistake & finally look at her the way she does to him. hana would huff all indignant about his comment, or the fact that he thought she wanted to hear that from some kid. “what’s pathetic is getting all up on my business because you don’t have a life on your own, let alone a romantic interest.” her assumption. “he’s just trying to build up his career before settling down. then, i will definite be his wife.”

@badheart said: Bora stared down at Gong as he swom his last laps. "At the end of the month, you need to find a new coach," she revealed but remained interested in him.
he hadn't been as consistent as he would've liked to, but that was due to the jingweon assigning other tasks to his name that implied looking into the whole operation & not just the head of it, which was han joon-gi. his going back & forth between japan & south korea, made it nearly impossible to keep up with a proper routine, & while getting a membership to this place had been a mere excuse on his part, gong had come to enjoy the benefits from swimming. it kept him slim & feeling energized—making the notice of his return seem more like an inconvenience.
both of his elbows rested on the edge of the pool, hanging there after being done with his laps. his head was tilted back, staring at the woman that had given him such a hard time at first. now, the sight of her made him smirk, even if she was telling him, weren't great news. "ah, it's fine. i've just found out i will have to leave back to seoul soon." he commented rather casually & pushed his body off the edge, so he could turn his body towards her, resting both forearms on the tiles. "guess we won't see each other again then. although..." there was a pause, looking at her with curiosity. "didn't think you would leave. not with how dedicated you seemed."

@badheart said: "Yeah... no, I like this one," Jiro concluded as he kept looking at the bunny longer. She would have to deal with it ... now. 30 minutes later, Ryo ended up carrying a cage and some other utensils, while it was no more one but two bunnies, after hearing about their connection. And while small, they were almost outgrown. "I gonna call him Kuro," Jiro smiled after they sat in the car, with a small portable cage on his lap, while Ryo would take the steering wheel. "It's your fault it's two now," he voiced after looking over to him, though he did not seem to mind.
it was quite unexpected for jiro to hold such a fascination with an animal, to the point of listening in awe at the seller going on about their care, or the fact that the one he liked was from the same litter as the other black one. either his brother was being impulsive about it, or that employee had done a good damn job at convincing him to take both with him. & that wasn't all—there was the cage that they needed to buy, a carrier, food, hay & all these other supplies. it honestly caught him off-guard at first, questioning what had got into him until making eye contact with the other bunny ; staring at it for long before enabling him with his purchase. ryo would end up purchasing that one.
after placing the items on the trunk, ryo took the driver's seat & secured his belt, but not before glancing in the direction of the passenger's side. his stare, first aimed at his brother before darting down at the carrier containing the two bunnies. a snort would escape him upon hearing his reasoning while silently agreeing. "kuro & koro..." ryo mumbled, after seeing the other one roll over. it brought a small smile to his lips. "do you really think she won't mind?" taking in ' his ' bunny, because not only did he not have much time to look after it, but the point of getting both was so that they'd not be separated. it would be technically his... just in her care. he'd have liked to reach out & pet them, but for that, it was best that they no longer wasted time here & headed straight to her place.
"we should get going... i will help you assemble the cage."

@causalitylinked said: "Dayuuum, girl, is your name WiFi? Because I'm feeling a connection!" Upon having just finished sprinting his way towards Rei, Kobato would soon flash her a toothy grin while pumping a fist through the air. Honestly, if he had a tail, it would probably be wagging right about now.
his approach was far from flattering, because the first thought she had upon seeing this stranger approach her at such speed, was that she was going to be robbed or something along those lines. it took her aback quite a bit ; pulling away when he finally came to a stop right in front of her. with how quick he was running, rei was under the impression that they'd collide if he didn't stop in time. wide-eyed & with her shoulders tense, she could only stare puzzled at him. his pick-up line didn't even register at first—too preoccupied with what he wanted with her.
"excuse me?" her head tilts & with it, some of her hair dapples over her shoulder. there's a slight tilt in her pitch as she speaks, displaying some confusion after all. "—but i don't even know you?" what else was she supposed to say to something so random & out of pocket? she could only smile somewhat awkwardly, before recoiling a bit. everything she had learned in her self-defence classes was at the front-forth of her head, just in case she needed to take action.
her fingers curled along the purse's strap, securing it over her shoulder. "i think you got the wrong person." such a cheesy line wouldn't work with her regardless of her relationship status.

But the other day, I ran up to someone that looked a lot like you from behind, that I ended up calling out 'Mappi!' while running up to him... only, when he turned around, I realized I had the complete wrong person. Honestly, I remembered being so embarrassed, I wanted to jump off a cliff right then and there..." Vivian sighs. Honestly, it was such a cringe fail moment, even further dwelling about the incident had her grimace. [ this could either be at stardust or some other location, like an izakaya! ]
of course, he couldn’t make a promise when he didn’t even know what she was about to tell him, but mako still tried to keep a straight face just in case. his curiosity had been piqued ; brows slightly raising upon hearing her story. just as she warned him not to do, he had some difficulty suppressing his initial reaction. a mere chuckle was let out instead, before he caught himself & brought a hand to his lips. it was pretty obvious he wanted to laugh, but it wasn’t at her expense! well, maybe just a little bit...
“you seriously mistook my handsome back for that of someone else?” mako inquired & feigned being hurt, bringing a hand to his chest. “vivian-chan, how could you? maybe i should let you admire it more, so you learn how to spot me even from afar.” wear one of those cut-out suits that sunny had suggested for the hosts to wear.

@badheart said: "I don't know what you have…" Rei sure seemed more than just surprised upon seeing Jiro in her office. A small box was placed on her desk, something with chocolate again. He still does not know about her favourite foods, but she welcomed it last time, so. "Your colleagues sure are noisy."
despite having warned him over always letting her know when he'd visit her at her home, she hadn't said anything about her workplace, as that was something that she did not expect from him. last time was different—surprising her on white day with gifts that warranted the attention of her co-workers. they had all looked at her curiously when the day was over & she left her office with them. the rosy tint of her cheeks, giving her away despite brushing their questions off, just so that she didn't have to give any explanations. the fact that he was here again, meant that she wouldn't be able to hide it for long, & while she was far from ashamed, her concern was more-so due to her superior & his possible reaction to it.
her surprise was evident as soon as he crossed the door ; immediately rising to her feet until it was him who moved over & placed another gift on her desk. her lips parted in awe at the sight of the small box decorated with a small ribbon, but her expression soon changed to that of a smile, with her cheeks heating up nonetheless. "you could've told me you were coming..." not a warning, nor a repression, but something to keep in mind in case she was busy, or idachi was bothering her with something.
she'd move behind her desk to properly greet him ; standing on her tiptoes & bringing her arms around his frame, pulling him down slightly. her amusement over his choice of gift was evident—picking up the box & opening it as soon as she let go. a bonbon was picked & fed to him after his complaint. "you weren't exactly discreet last time." rei added. meanwhile, outside of her office, a chick in reception was talking about just that with another employee, when idachi approached the two, glancing between them as soon as they fell quiet.
' whose boyfriend showed up? ' he asked, after barely catching that detail from their conversation. his focus was mostly on the contract that he carried for signing, but as soon as an answer was given ( after some hesitation ), he'd look up in both annoyance & confusion. ' that can't be right. rei? ‘ it just didn’t make any sense to him.

@bedlamology said: it was a horrible, horrible idea coming back. she trembles as she glances around, completely lost. how she had made it into this district was besides her, but here she was anyways. oak growled every so often, the puppy trying his best to keep mizuki safe, but what good was he actually doing? dachshunds weren't exactly intimidating.
"e-excuse me.. m-mister...!" she went for the first person who struck her as extremely confident. mizuki didn't care if he was a bad guy or shady so long as he'd be kind enough to help her get back to where she needed to be. "m-my phone b-broke and I d-don't know h-how to get back t-to my hotel... c-can you please t-tell me where th-this address is? j-just the direction w-would be nice... I, um... I have a pen and paper. I-I can write it d-down... p-please."
the red district offered no mercy to those who were pure of soul. at every corner, there would an establishment aimed to indulge in someone’s vices. be it alcohol, sex, or the like. an innocent convenience store, located right across a host club, in which women paid for more than just company. those were the kind of sights that one would often see—attracting people from across the world, as it had become a touristic attraction despite its reputation. shady men lurked within the shadows, always preying on the naive & weak. this woman was the perfect example of that. to think that, out of all people, she’d dare to approach a man instead. right off the bat, he’d put into question her judgement. sharp eyes inspected her from head to toes, barely catching the animal that accompanied her. a puppy. its size was a joke ; chuckling against the cigarette that he held between his lips. it was pulled away with his middle & forefinger, holding onto it for just a moment, before it was discarded—crushed underneath his shoe.
his body turned in her direction. hands immediately being hidden inside the pockets of his pants, as he leaned closer, towering over her. the space in-between was minimal, but how else was he supposed to help her? it was just her luck, though, that she ended up asking for help to a man that didn’t live here for longer than two months or so. “your phone... broke?” the man questioned. his tone, indicative of just how absurd her misfortune seemed to be in that case. not only because she ended up lost in a district where she clearly did not belong, but her features... the neon lights did her no favours ; accentuating the different colour & texture that part of her face had. he met her eyes, but did not stare at the mark on her skin—offering her, at the very least, that much courtesy. his voice carried an accent, which gave away that he was not japanese, nor had been living her for long. “i can look it up.” the man offered, & pulled his phone out. though, on second thought, he’d stare right back at her & smirk. there was something more sinister in his eyes. “or i could take you. don’t you know how dangerous it is to wander these streets alone?“ she could come face to face with a killer—but for that, it was a little too late.
“that thing won’t protect you.” referring to the dog, who was offered his shoe to sniff, by moving it slightly forward. his neck craning to the side, as he stared down at it.
