Not a whole lot, tbh. Depends on my mood. Maybe 20?

I tend to write in bursts, so I can spend a year spitting stuff out (though they then stay in drafts forever >.>; ), and then nothing for a long time lol.

I'm always interested in the Justice Lords verse, though I do miss my friend's and my "Domestic SuperBats AU" where Bruce and Clark are married with Kara as Clark's daughter and all the Robins and Batgirl are adopted. <3

5. what’s the optimal wordcount for a fic? (it, of course, depends. but what do you like?)

I like short drabbles I can read quickly, but if I'm going to sink my teeth into a chapter fic then I don't really have a preference as to length - just the hope it will eventually be finished.

I know I gushed about it at the time, but I'm still appreciative of "Acceptable Losses" you wrote from my suggestion prompt, since you hit me hard with the surprise "Red" connection. ;~; It's a really important symbol in my other big fandom fixation, expressly being the "color of heroes". ;o

More recently is "Performance Piece" by fight_knight, which I've mentioned before but is an intriguing take on DCAU and comics Tim switching places post-RotJ. Specifically though, Chapter 8 got me good since it also surprised me by lining up almost exactly with a headcanon I have of Steph being the only one DCAU Timmy allows to cut his hair, but I couldn't fit it into my own fic so I'm happy someone else (sorta) did it. ='> (I hope the author does continue someday...)

Aside, I had actually wanted to use this opportunity to plug this fic to you since I don't recall if I ever shared it before, but it looks like the author deleted... OTL

Honestly probably my own fic draft since I still go back and revise chapters and that's typically the only time I have to do so.

Not so much fluffy, but tbh I always wondered/worried if Tim cries too much in my fic, now even more so from your answers lol. ^^; (It does happen less so later on as he continues his recovery, fwiw.) In general I get concerned about writing DC characters OoC in any capacity since I didn't grow up with them - especially when it comes to the comics as I know even less about those versions. =x (Also some of the more... controversial scenes/ships in my stories. *cough*)

17. if a 12 or 13 y/o approached you for advice on starting to write and publish fanfiction (whether for personal enjoyment or in a friendly, age-appropriate public/internet space), what would you teach them?

I'd say don't let motivation slip away. If you're interested and inspiration strikes then go for it. Just write for your own enjoyment, and don't let outside circumstances stop/discourage you.

18. what’s a very small headcanon that you have that could easily be a novel-length fic if you had the time?

Idk about novel-length but I still like the idea of Veronica Vreeland having a crush on Bruce/being the "princess" type who promises to marry him as kids. Their parents would arrange playdates when young, and being the spoiled brat she is one day she sees a bunny in Bruce's garden and goes all Veruca Salt, demanding her daddy to get it for her. Bruce points out though it has a partner, and his dad/mom told him "rabbits can die of loneliness". That's when she decides she's fallen in love/is determined to wed her "prince" someday, and tries to confess to him by making a snow bunny - unknowingly right after his parents' deaths - but he ends up hurting her feelings like in this scene from Kanon. ;(

She watches over him from a distance as they grow up, how he refuses to play with her anymore and retreats from high society. Even when he eventually returns to the rich Gothamite circle and agrees to host/attend parties with her he still constantly pushes her away, keeping at arm's length for some reason. Until one day he suddenly grows sullen and morose again, completely shutting himself off and becoming a recluse, even letting his company fall to ruin... When she goes to visit him in the future after figuring out he's the one who saved her daughter for his final act as Batman, he still rebuffs her efforts to get him to come out and engage with others, so she repeats those words back to him before sadly leaving: "Rabbits can die of loneliness, you know."

19. who’s that character and what is a specific canon moment for that character that you can talk about for centuries and just never ever get tired of it?

DCAU Timmy and really any of his moments in the tie-in comics since they're criminally unknown (pun not intended), although for within the show itself the "Never Fear" and "Growing Pains" eps also count.

20. have you tried to get people in your life on board with your fanfiction or is it all super secret because they’d never understand?

I mean I'm still waiting for a friend to read my fics but as for other non-writers then no.

Ahhhhh!!! Thank you for sending me an ask, sweet anon, and an even bigger thank you for your kind words! It makes me so happy hearing that someone enjoys my writing in some capacity.

Advice for writing longer fics? Oh boy. I don’t know how much help I’ll be, but I will do my best for you, anon!I was definitely in the same boat as you, anon. When I started writing fiction, I was very much stuck on one-shots and drabbles and other short pieces. It really didn’t help that I went on a long hiatus period where my main focus was academic papers either. So when I started writing fiction again earlier this year, I was very wary about starting a multi-chapter fic since I had started many before and all of them were left unfinished.

One of the things that really helped me continue writing and really expand my story was getting into the habit of writing. Most people tend to be very habitual and I am one of those people. It’s hard to get yourself into the mindset to write when you don’t have a set writing schedule. I was lucky to have an idea that was easy to write since it was so personal, but it really helped having a set time to write and focus only on that. I started out small with my schedule. I made sure that every Saturday, for about an hour or so, I would rid myself of all possible distractions and open up a word document. It started out really hard and difficult at first. I would sit there for the entire hour and would be lucky if I ended up with a sentence. But after some time and constantly telling myself during that hour that it was time to write, I began writing more. My mind got used to recognizing that this certain hour of the week was dedicated solely to writing and that greatly helped me keep up with writing a multi-chapter story. A big reason why I gave up on my older stories was because I couldn’t find the motivation or right mindset to write and doing this helped me.

Another thing that helped me was seeing the bigger picture. I feel like people want writing a story to be one nice linear path, but that’s rarely the case. I feel like writing a story is more like putting together a puzzle. (Stay with me here. This might get lengthy and I’m sorry.) We all have different methods of putting them together, but we usually start with what we know first. For some people, that means the border pieces, but for other’s that might mean connecting the pieces in the center. But no matter where you start, the puzzle comes together to make one big image in the end.This same idea can be applied to stories as well. Writers don’t come up with everything in one go. We get bits and pieces of the beginning and the middle and the end and hope that we can somehow connect them all together in the end. We often start stories thinking that we have to have everything in order from the very beginning and that often keeps us from finishing, but the truth is that we don’t have everything and that’s 100% okay. You don’t need everything. You can still complete a story if all you have in the beginning is half of a chapter and three random sentences. But you should have a good idea of what your big image is going to be at the end. Now, I don’t mean you have to know the ending right away, but you need to figure out your general direction, your theme. It doesn’t have to be concrete because your plans can always change, but you do need some idea of how you want this all to be and it’s okay if it’s something simple like, “I want them to be happy together” or “I want the dog to live” or “My theme is true love.” You just need some vague idea of your big picture, of your big plan.

That actually brings me to my next tip, which is something is better than nothing. During those scheduled writing periods, you’re going to be stuck the first couple of times, staring and wondering what the hell are you going to do, and that’s totally fine. You’re going to feel forced to write and you’re going to hate it because you’re going to think it’s not your best work and that’s okay. It doesn’t have to be your best work. Anything that you write is better than nothing because anything can be edited. Don’t be afraid to just vomit words, ignore the grammar and word choice, and just write as much shit as you have running through your mind. It doesn’t have to make sense because remember, it can always be edited and you’re the only one that’s ever going to see it. It’s okay.It’s also okay to skip around in your chapters and writing as well. Dialogue often comes to me quicker, so I’ll often write that down first. I’ll then leave little notes around, reminding me to go back and fill in those blank action and transition spots. There are definitely places where I have nothing more than a simple note saying, “Insert that scene where they talk about cooking here.” It’s okay to have blank spots in your chapters. You don’t have to work in order. Write what you can first and then go back and see how you can connect it all together.

This sounds weird, but working on multiple things helped me out with finishing my first multi-chapter fic. Just because you’re in the mindset to write, doesn’t mean you’re in the mindset to write the thing you want to work on and that’s okay. Working on other stories at the same time as my main story helped because it gave me a break from the same thing, but still kept me writing. The short little drabbles I wrote for Day by Day helped me out SO much during the writing of Yes, Professor?. I was still able to keep writing without feeling like I was working on the same thing day after day. These breaks also helped me with editing because after staring at the same document for hours and hours, everything blurs and nothing seems right anymore, but at the same time, it feels like everything is right too. Taking a break and working on something else gave me time to step back, momentarily forget what I was doing, and come back with new eyes to see if I missed something or if there was something better that I could do. Your writing will looking boring and bland if you continue to stare at it for too long because you’ve gotten so used to seeing it. Step back, walk away, take a breath, and then come back to it. It makes a world of a difference.

This ended up being WAY longer than I thought it would be, anon, and I’m very sorry for that. I tend to ramble and I’m really very sorry. I hope I was able to help you in some way though. Once again, thank you so very much for sending me an ask and I wish you good luck on your future writing!! :]

character in general: //breaths in deep I LOVE HIBARI KYOUYA!!!!!!!!! Honestly, let’s not get me started on how much I love him like... just don’t. It’s a rough ride, yo. Seriously though, Hibari is a fun character. I also really like his design like hello gorgeous piece of man //pet pet pets the screen ahahahahahaahah. I also love the gap moe kinda thing with how he loves his animals and they all love him back. It breaks my heart all the time like omg. NEVER FORGET THE REGENT HIBIRD. NEVER FORGET ROLL FREAKING OUT AS HE’S FALLING AND HIBARI JUST SMILES AT HIM LIKE ALKJSDFLAJSF HELLO 911? I NEED HELP.

Basically: My love for Hibari cannot truly be described with words and I’d need a readmore from the very first question if I were to go all out so let’s not. 

how they play them: Google voice-Did you mean: How does Hibari torment Haru? lolol okay jokes aside, the mun puts a lot of effort into rp’ing as Hibari. Whenever I see him on my dash I like to take a moment to read. I like the way that he uses a lot of vocabulary and a lot of descriptions. I make a point to note this because I personally struggle with that. My style is more simplistic and I sometimes forget to use descriptions. Therefore I really like his writing style. Aside from that, I feel as though the style greatly reflects Hibari as a character. It suits him. 

He takes RP’ing seriously and that is very commendable. You can tell this is true with how much effort he puts into not only his threads but also his meme answers. The ones that ask about HC things, they are really long and indepth so I really respect that. I often go short on those bc lazy. I’m too lazy for my own good and yet for ��truthful memes’ I’m like okay. //sits down and cracks neck. I’M READY. The Hibari played exhibits a lot of traits that I also believe him to have. Like though he is a rough guy to be around, he understands that one must at least be civil to the ladies. He understands that when there is no animosity being shown, he can try to be civil back. 

The fact that though he’s very aloof and seemingly uncaring, he does. He’s attentive in his own way and understands social customs. I just feel as though I can identify the Hibari to fitting with how I see Hibari so that really pleases me. He also is a bit different from how I’ve seen some other Hibari muses being played and again, VARIIIIEEEETTTYYY. GOTTA LOVE IT. Pretty sure I’ve talked about variety in like each and every single one of these memes. lolthe mun: FRRIIIIIIEEEEEND!! Since this meme requires brutal honesty, I will admit that I always struggle to remember the nickname. It’s Kiril/Kirill right? In my heart I call you both Lan and Hibari. Now in terms of shipping with his Hibari (which i’m sure that is what this question is really referring to) then I’m honestly kind of on the fence with it. I could see it happening, but at the same time-- I’m not too sure how well it would work out. For me, I need to like the character, get along with the mun, and feel a connection between the characters. So far, we have 2/3 of the criteria. I get along very well with the mun and I love Hibari. The way he’s portrayed in this blog also has a special place in my heart. Since these two are still kind of in the acquaintance stage I can’t really tell if they have a connection or not so I’d have to say that while I ship 1886, I don’t particularly ship our two muses together. If it were to happen, then I’m all for it. If not, i’m more than happy to just bug Hibari or allow Hibari to bug Haru. XD

Did you know that I originally thought that you hated me and I was just like ‘but whyyyyyyyyyy? QAQ’ The reason for this is because you did follow me, but then unfollowed me and followed again. It’s always wonderful to see you enjoying the different meme responses I give. Either you laugh at things or you just find things really cute. I write things usually hoping for a particular reaction. Some answers I write looking for laughter, some I write hoping you’ll find them cute, etc. You always seem to zoom in on what I’m going for so I really appreciate that.

Favorite character

MITSURU KIRIJOOOOOOO. I had a feeling I would love her before even playing the game and I was never proven wrong. I was really sad that I couldn’t complete her Social Link before beating the game… weeps.

Second favorite character

Probably Eikichi from the second game. He’s fun, wonderful and really under-rated. And he used to draw!! I wish he didn’t stop!! Shout-out to Koromaru and Aigis.

Least favorite character

There’s a couple of Social Link characters in P3P that are kinda ehhhh. I also wasn’t huge on Junpei outside of the Chidori stuff.

The character I’m most like

Probably Fuuka and Chihiro.

Favorite pairing

I don’t know… I don’t have strong shippy feelings about this series. I was pretty fond of the relationships between Natsuki and Fuuka, and Mitsuru and Yukari. (Natsuki and Fuuka’s caught me by surprise; I was really grateful that Mitsuru and Yukari became as close as they did. I didn’t want Yukari to hate her the whole game.)

For IS, I was also really happy that Eikichi and Miyabi seemed to have ended up together too. Their relationship was cute. Shout-out to Tatsuya and Jun, and Yukki and Anna.

When I don’t have a major ship that I like there’s just a lot of minor ships I could mention lmao

Least favorite pairing

I thought P3P was gonna have Yukari and Junpei end up together… man… lmao.

Favorite moment

P3P: Yukari and Mitsuru having that first major bonding moment was solid (minus the slap, I feel awkward about that shit OTL). Also at the end, when everyone is giving Minato their boost, I always love moments like that in games. I cried when Shinjiro was heard. A couple of the social links were also really good, like the Sun and the one with the old couple.

IS: I know there were some emotional moments that I had like in P3P but… I can’t remember exactly… Maya’s speech with that suicidal girl was solid, her optimism is stellar. Lisa standing up for herself about not being able to speak English during that whole girl group thing left an impact on me too. And I’m sorry Eikichi, but the scenes where he’s a butt monkey were pretty hilarious too.

It’s kind of hard to judge the series as a whole because, like Final Fantasy, the games vary quite a bit in terms of characters, story and gameplay. IS had a pretty wild story and a style of gameplay that would probably frustrate some people (especially if they’ve played the later games first, I imagine), but there are solid messages, characters and character development too. And even though the story is wild I think people could still enjoy it, haha.

For the third game, well, this is probably kind of stupid, but I went in with some pretty high expectations, but finished the game thinking that it wasn’t as great as I was made to believe with its popularity. At least with the story. I remember feeling like it took a while for it to get started, and then… I don’t know. The pacing is kind of weird because of the calendar, I guess.

There are also things that the older games have that the new ones don’t, but it’s stuff that’s been said before by other people.

Ugh… lmao. Cinder, for ruining MY LIFE.

Although tbh… even though I can sympathize for the guy, I never cared a lot for Qrow.

Probably Ruby… I used to connect with her in a lot of little ways, but I don’t know anymore.

Favorite pairing

Arkos… or I guess presently in the show, Bumbleby or Team Sloth. For the former, there seem to be implications that it could actually happen now (and it looks like Blake’s reunion with Team RWBY is coming up soon). For the latter… they don’t seem to be official yet? Can they do something about that??

Least favorite pairing

It used to always be Jaune/Ruby… although due to Recent Events in the show (I’m talking episode 11; I haven’t seen 12 yet) I will be kind of cheesed if Jaune/Weiss ends up happening. I don’t know why they kept making that a thing in RWBY Chibi either.

Favorite moment

A bunch… the scene where Penny tells Ruby that she’s a robot was very sweet. A bunch of the group fights in the earlier volumes (VS the giant Nevermore, and Roman in the mech). The JNPR team attack names moment in the Vytal Festival lmao. 

Rating out of 10

If you asked me this 3 years ago, I probably would have said 8 or 9 out of 10, because while I could acknowledge the shows flaws, I still found a lot of things to like about it and it was really enjoyable to watch. But since the start of volume 4, my feelings have changed a lot. In essence, the show just feels really bland to me now and it’s hard for me to watch it at all (some emotional baggage with the show doesn’t really help OTL). I actually put off watching Volume 5 until this past Sunday, and I wasn’t satisfied with what I watched then either.

I know I still reblog a lot of RWBY stuff on here and whatnot, but yeah… for me, the rating is a lot lower than what it used to be.
