do you ever think about how kon got drugged to the point of inability to think clearly and then enslaved for Two Fucking Months and then we just never mentioned that again? that is, except for when he went back to visit and help out the guys who enslaved and drugged him because he was lonely enough to befriend them after they said oh sowwy we didn't know you were a person uwu. i think about this a normal amount
#rimi talks#sorry yeah im thinking about That Fucking Arc again alsdhfkjds#if i had a nickel for every time kon got enslaved to be used as a trophy fighter for someone's entertainment while he was 16 years old...#...i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot but it's kind of strange that it happened twice !#but at least the time with kossak didn't involve keeping him DRUGGED TO COMPLACENCY the entire time holy fuck#and was also MUCH shorter than TWO GODDAMN MONTHS#genuinely i think. like that arc is ridiculous in a lot of ways but if i take anything from it#it's that a) kon is so fucking lonely he will befriend people who have treated him Atrociously if they just go oh im sowwy#and also b) i just don't think he'll ever handle any mind-altering substances well after that. even if he represses it and thinks he's fine#its such a bonkers fucking insane arc but if you actually think about it its so incredibly fucked up????#and so much of it (like. so much else in sb94) is treated as humorous#but is in fact horrifying in implication. kon girlies we stay winning (kon gets fucked up but its fine bc its funny right)!!!!

PANIC + TURNING INTO WILD CATS
#🌠#Disney#Hercules: The Animated Series#Screencap Post#Panic#Apparently cats are Panic's creature of choice to shapeshift into - after humans and snakes of course.#I guess he wasn't kidding when he said he's more of a cat person in “Hercules and the Visit From Zeus”.#Also if I had a nickel for every time Panic transformed into a large wild cat to protect Pain from danger...#... I'd have two nickels - which isn't a lot but it's strange and kind of sweet that it happened twice.#Nobody hurts his big brother on his watch!!#And yes - before y'all say anything I know technically he and Pain were fused together when they took on...#... Hercules in the form of a giant lion. I'm still including it because it's cool.

Haven't seen anyone screaming about it yet, so I will: @re-dracula's NEW CARMILLA TRAILER GOOD
Major points:
It's the best kind of bittersweet hearing Abraham van Helsing's voice switching from kindly paternal figure to this absolutely heartbroken vengeful father in the trailer. Kudos on the impending Pain I will suffer from Alan Burgon :')
It is trippy as hell hearing Karim Kronfli voicing a good guy after Dracula. Extreme audio whiplash in the best way
Sasha Sienna is going to make my heart hurt. I'm ready. (lying)
If I had a nickel for every time Jonathan Sims played a doctor in yet another classic supernatural vampire tale, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's strange and fantastic that it happened twice
Miss Carmilla. Miss Carmilla ma'am. That is some next level Distraction+ of a voice you have there. Thank you Méabh de Brún, my mind is a blissful blue screen after hearing your line
In all ways but physical I am pressed up against my phone screen whispering 'pakidge??' as I wait for my next classic lit vampire fix
#I'm pacing like a tiger between this trailer and the Dracula Daily entry and everyone's cool art updates waiting for the Re: Dracula version#of today's date/entry to drop#my brain is sizzling in anticipation#carmilla#re: dracula

Hermes and divine horned babies
If I had a nickel for every time there was a myth involving Hermes with a divine horned baby, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
I was supposed to be finishing my Artemis and Apollo WIP, which has been incomplete for days, but here I am with another Hermes. I think I'm going to have to draw Hermes again because twice I chose the worst possible framing and pose for him, because in this position 1) chlamys covers him a lot 2) his arm covers too much chlamys
Moving on! I had drawn this Hermes with Dionysus before (I posted it yesterday, more specifically), but I took the opportunity to be inspired by the Hymn to Pan. When I read it months ago, I thought it was cute how Hermes, upon seeing Pan, didn't feel at all bothered by his unusual appearance and was happy to see him. He picked him up and took him to Olympus and the gods were happy, especially Dionysus (who, by the way, is a deity often associated with satyrs). So, besides the similarity of being Hermes and a divine horned baby, putting this drawing of Dionysus back here for the connection between him and Pan as well.
Yes…I've been training how to draw babies because I had never drawn one before Achilles. How did you find out?! Certainly not because I have already drawn Thetis with baby Achilles, Hermes with baby Dionysus, now Hermes and Pan and I am still considering drawing Apollo with baby Hermes.
Pan's design is a bit of an obvious thing, I guess? In his Hynm it says that he was already somewhat "developed" in terms of fur and had goat-like characteristics, so that's what I did. A bearded baby. But it also said he was a happy, noisy baby, so he's giggly instead of the calmer face I did in Achilles and Dionysus.
As for my Hermes, in the drawing with Dionysus he's normal, but in the drawing with Pan you can notice that his face is a little strange because he's actively making an expression instead of just existing. Like, not blatantly weird, but his eyes don't quite follow the change in expression right? As incredible as it may seem, it's supposed to be strange. I swear this time it wasn't exclusively the fault of my serious problem making expressions in digital drawing!
I wanted him to look a little unnerving, the kind that gave off a slightly untrustworthy air, like a nod to Hermes' association with cunning. That's why I decided to make his petaso shadow his face, I chose facial features that gave him a more "mischievous" look and I drew eyes that, regardless of his expression, still looked a little strange. In short: I wanted him to have an appearance that, when he smiled, seemed a bit artificial to give him an air of untrustworthiness. Also, about the tooth gap visible now that I made him smile, this was intended to resemble a hare since it's one of the animals associated with Hermes.

and now for a post this blog was made for (take this as free trial of what to expect down the line. fair warning; not to scale)
If I had a nickel for every time a protagonist had to choose between a sword and a guitar, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
the first (and tbf only) two that come to mind are Manolo from the book of life and Kubo from Kubo and the two strings
quick background: manolo had to fight a giant toro (all the bulls his bullfighter family killed ever, and kubo had to defeat his grandfather the moon king in his final form. also he uses a shamisen not a guitar. but it fits the category so theres that)
and its such a beautiful and strange concept; to be presented with the choice of peace via music, or violence (so to speak) by the sword, and it works. the apology song moved me to tears the first time i heard it and kubo's words are truly beautiful and ones i wont forget.
i think its what the music relays rather than the instrument that brings about a change of heart or leads the hero to victory; their empathy and humanity. family is a prominent theme too, one of love and guidance and ocassionally a source of greivance lol.
i havent watched either films in quite a while (BoL 10 years ago oof) but both songs/ pieces speak so much truth they are able to do what the sword could never achieve. and now for a segment i like to call from where i stand, where i get to link fiction with my life and experiences to provide insight from, say it with me now, where i stand: as an aspiring psychiatrist in a part of the world where mental health is still finding its footing in the public eye and sadly among other healthcare students, its hurts to see how little we listen to each other, compounded by how simple and effective just basic human connection is in somehwat alleviating (albeit temporarily) whatever it is someone is going through. empathy my dudes. it goes a long way.
manolo appologises for the centuries of grief his family profession has inflicted on the bulls, and extends a warm hand of understanding and sincerity, while kubo uses the power of memories and love to prove to his grandfather that so long as he has his eye, an eye capable of seeing (and by extension a heart capable of loving and a soul capable of feeling), he will live and prosper. their humanity prevails and brings peace.
final word: to quote Jonathan Decker from a CT episode i cant remember lol: "Kindness won't always change someone, but it shows them you won't be changed." and i think its an important gap to mind, in the sense that the magic of music or whatever wont fix our real life probelms, like a failing relationship, but kindness and empathy and humanity are all necessary for healing and growth. and that, i believe is the message behind the trope. a good day to you all.
me, an intellectual:
#both brilliant movies if u havent watched them drop everything and go do that now#the book of life was my first encounter so to speak with the concept of dia de los muertos- the day of the dead#and as a muslim the beliefs i hold regarding death and the afterlife couldnt be any more different#yet that didnt stop me form enjoying the film for what it is#as a kid i fell in love with the beauty and vibrance and wonder of it all#and coco was visually stunning as it was emotional#the topic actually warrants a post of its own#the enjoying of media and respecting it even (or especially) if it differs from our faith/ what we hold dear#so stay tuned ig#i couldnt resist the last picture lol#awoop jumpscare#the book of life#kubo and the two strings#how tf is that not a tag?#throwback to the days i had functioning lacrimal glands lol#good times#i kept the typo to humble myself#see if u can find it#psychiatry#i have been told im a really good listener#which is both a compliment and a testament to how little we stop to listen and ask after ourselves and others#cinema therapy#go watch that too#instant serotonin#jono and alan are the best#i think the ct episode was maybe serentiy?#or was it the train to busan?#wait no the quiet place!#genuinely have no idea sorry#welp

If I had a nickel for every character I already knew before getting back into RVB, and then after getting into RVB, I saw people mistake those characters for Isaac "Felix McScouty" Gates, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
(the two nickels being Mitch from "Long Exposeure" above, and Buttons- @galoogamelady 's OC. in all seriousness; Long Exposure is an AWESOME comic about teenagers struggling with all kinds of life-problems/relationships AND developing strange powers on top of that! it has very good balance showing the depth of emotions, both painful and happy, and how hard it can be to understand yourself, then express that to others, funny-action all adding to the difficulty of just trying to live when other things keep getting in the way. there are a lot of beautiful scenery illustrations, with very creative uses of color that enhance the story with visuals. Long Exposure is currently completed, and @marsoid has another on-going comic called "Ride or Die"! You may know Buttons from such hits as the animated videos for the Tom Cardy songs "Mixed Messages" and "Red Flags", but Buttons has existed for WHILE as Fallout and GTA OC, and there are many comics/stories that extend from that with AUs and such, one being "Wasted Homeland". Check them out if you have the time! haha, like I said, I knew these characters before I got back into RVB, and Felix WISHES he was more like these guys; people they interact with actually LIKE them)
it’s munch! x

You know, if I had a nickel for every time a little girl with a bow on her head had an evil father and she ended up kind of like him ...I'd have two.
Which isn't a lot, but it's strange it's happened twice.

The file name for this one....
Them.....
Bastard cat vs Shrimp.....
Both artworks by Pitypatblack.
Anyway... if I had a nickle for every oc with orange hair and a brown dress jacket thing who had no sense of identity so she went on a dangerous mission to go find it with a green themed girl... I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but its strange it happened twice/j
(/j because Shoko fr is... not like Hana. Shoko never disliked Mio. Shoko is always kind to her green companion and she will stay that way unless hell freezes over. Hana is... an asshole to Alope sometimes. And Alope and Mio might seem similar but again. Alope has shame... Mio doesn't. )
Hana and Shoko used to have the same hair color back in the day. But I darkened + saturated Shoko's. (My Mage Prophecies ocs are really saturated and idk how to feel about it.....)
And Mio's bang is similar to Alope's and this has messed up the way I draw both Mio and Alope's hairstyles.
Hana + Alope aren't one to one comparisons To Mio + Shoko... but I drew Mio and Shoko often thinking of the old Hana and Alope stuff when i was young. A complex cycle of "they walked so you could run" but it alternates bc now I'm revamping Hana and Alope bc Mio and Shoko made me miss them.
Yesterday (the 16th) was my Mage Prophecies oc Shoko's birthday. This one:
She's an artificial human, a Homunculus. And you know when most things are made they have like... a reason or a purpose for that. Shoko does... not have one! She tries to find it at Mio's side.
Shoko is the most like me personality and conflict wise. Like. Sometimes when I observe her character I find out new things about myself.
I wish I could have done something for her today. But like I said. Oc burn out... but getting more into the swing of talking about them.
My friend who also drew Hana for my birthday drew Shoko for hers. HBD girl.... 🤲
