This is your reminder that our literal introduction to Ryoko is her scaring a stray cat.

Like we see the cat. We see the cat noticing her. And then we see the cat running away in fear.

Followed by Ryoko literally saying she does not care. She's skipping! She's happy! Who cares about a cat!

But this is such an inversion of what a plucky protagonist normally does. A plucky protagonist bends down and pets the cat. A plucky protagonist does not scare a cat.

Even from the beginning, we're supposed to know that something is wrong with Ryoko.

(Except that actually she's pure cinnamon roll who has done nothing wrong ever in her life ever so what does her introduction know.)
