#...I'm sorry but this is 100% better than “Lex hates aliens just cuz”#it's really interesting how the comics make it clear that Lex's obsession was sentimental#and borne out of loneliness when he was younger and not just wanting to make scientific history#where in sv you more just get the vibe that he's capriciously curious. he just wants to know for himself#it turns darker later but it started out fairly innocent and if that isn't emblematic of his character as a whole in these versions#smallville#lex luthor#superman
