listening to the alt rock station and struggling to get any work done while simultaneously realizing just how much of my taste in music was influenced by mother, who preferred the likes of bush and rem in the 90s to celine dion or mariah carey

#I'm also the child who when asked her favorite singer in kindergarten answered unironically with 'peter gabriel'#instead of a normal answer a kid in 1998 would have given like britney spears or backstreet boys #...I think in hindsight I was doomed to be a weird emo kid like it was in my genes #my father was a wallflower who married the first girl that was nice to him and my mother wore a black cape every day to high school #I had no shot lol
