As for Hero, admittedly I wouldn't have anything too coherent or organized to bring up at the moment! Her relationship with Norm has been on my mind (as you know), but I don't think I have any groundbreaking theory on the matter (yet heheheh).

Not that Hero hasn't otherwise been on my mind but- 😆that's mostly been in the form of things reasonably removed from canon. I guess I haven't really brought this up since my initial Swift-Foster-Oak-Garcia hc post (oh how far we've come!), but Hero and Taylor get up to a lot of fucking shenanigans in my head. The part that I mostly omitted (save for a tag or two) is that a lot of their shenanigans involve Lark one way or another! Mostly a lot of annoying the shit out of him cause they find it funny, and he's so reactive, which makes it funnier- but Lark is honestly kind of a big softie deep down as far as I'm concerned, so a lot of his grumpiness is just for show, Taylor grows on him over time, and it's the first time in his life that he actually starts to connect with Hero in a way that his heart wouldn't allow before this point.

Then there's the topic of her name hahaha- I love all the theories people have on the matter, but I remember particularly liking some of your takes actually!

👉👈 My own little headcanon for that topic is that Sparrow was in a pretty dark place prior to having Hero, and her coming into the world is ultimately what brought him out of that, so... That kinda made her *his* hero :) (but Lark doesn't know this and definitely thinks to this day that it was a passive aggressive jab at him over the whole "unsung hero" thing).

:0 I also think (still in purely headcanon territory lol) that when Sparrow named Hero he still had hope that the world could one day return to "normal" (i.e. how it was pre-Doodler), and hence was less afraid of his kid not being able to live a normal life. Like the others (perhaps especially Grant?), I think code purple and the betrayal of Nicky was kind of a slap in the face for Sparrow, and ultimately when a lot of those fears surfaced.

While I'm blabbering about very non-canon affairs, I also think her first words were a mispronounced "Hatsune Miku" and that this was entirely Nicky's fault LOL.

Aight just a warning I'm pretty new to Tumblr and I'm DEFINITELY new to making AUs so I'm pretty nervous to post anything here but I figured I'd just rip the band-aid off.

FIRST POST HYPE!! :D

Anyways I love Mario and I love Undertale and I NEEDED TO COMBINE THEM LEGALLY so I decided to make an au about it! Dunno if I'm actually going to do anything serious with this, I mostly just want to imagine cute shenanigans with my favorite characters and whatnot, but who knows? Maybe I'll actually try to give this a proper plot

So here's the basic info:

- Mario and Luigi, in the midst of trying to chase down Bowser, who has just kidnapped the princess again, somehow wind up far away from the Mushroom Kingdom and on Mt. Ebott. Where, of course, they fall into the underground.

- All the monsters are pretty much their canon counterparts (at least, my best interpretation of them 💀)

- Mario ends up discovering he has the power to reset/load/save/etc, but Luigi does not. This is because Mario has the most determination to get out of here and save the princess

- Toriel isn't quite as overprotective of them as she would be if they were a literal child like Frisk, but she is still very motherly towards them because it's just kinda who she is. She would probably be concerned about them potentially attacking the monsters so she might make them promise not to hurt anyone. I still don't think she would want them to leave because Asgore would take their souls

- Honestly mostly this is just an excuse for the Mario Bros and the Skelebros to hang out XD

- the thing that is really interesting is that Mario and Luigi are not 1, but 2 humans, which means only one of their souls would be needed to break the barrier. This ends up becoming a real issue but I could see it being resolved in a few ways.

1. one of the bros self sacrifices so the underground goes free (much to the dismay of the other, and also my heart would break haha)

2. They decide to just stay in the underground instead of going home (but they would be pretty sad about it because oh no their kingdom is still in danger

3. ??? IDK tbh

- Since Mario can load saves, he's just constantly in this angsty cycle of trying to keep his bro from getting killed off ;;

- Not sure if Mario could keep the resets secret for long since Flowey would taunt them about it, but he definitely would be pretty closed off about it, especially to Luigi. He does NOT want Luigi to know about the horrible things he's seen

-ofc cut to Luigi being confused as heck as to why Mario seems to already know what's going to happen.

- they have cute sweaters because I said so

- not sure how omega fight would work, but either way Mario would have to fight to save both of them (probably all by himself :c)

- I want them to eventually do true pacifist but IDK how it would work so I'm not gonna think about it too hard rn

- Mario and Undyne having a friendly rivalry about who's the most heroic

- sans trying to convince them they could just stay in the underground and they're like "no we have to save the tiny mushroom people" and he's like "ur just like my bro fr"

- monster speculation about the purpose of mustaches

- It would be kinda funny if they had the firebrand and thunderhand since... Like... Humans aren't supposed to be able to do magic

What I'd do to kiss you, I'd cross the lands far wide just for a chance to gaze upon your beautiful face.

You have such a fire in your eyes when you set your mind to something. Those baby blues have me in a chokehold, I wonder what fire will arise when you look at me.

I'd do anything, anything at all if it meant I'd be the one to start that flame.

“We sent her to you” his dad interrupted, “She should be arriving any minute now.”

Sniper's eyes widened, and he nearly dropped the phone. “YOU DID WHAT!? THIS IS A BATTLEFIELD!!” He tried to argue. 

They were his parents and he respected them a lot, always trying to get their approval, but were they actually crazy? What did they even consume to think that sending his own daughter, their own granddaughter, to New Mexico, alone, while there’s a fight currently happening there, is a good idea!?

“Oh, don’t worry about that, after speaking to your boss through a nice lady called… Miss Paula? Pauline? She assured us she’ll be safe.” No way Miss Pauling, one of the few people he —and everyone in the team, really— trusted. No fucking way.

Before he could process this bombshell, a commotion erupted outside his room. The “INTRUDER ALERT. BLU SPY IS IN THE BASE” alarm was set off, and it was followed by Soldier shouting “A BLU SPY IS IN THE BASE!?”.

He hung up, not even saying goodbye, because he had the feeling that wasn’t a BLU spy. Actually, he knew it wasn’t a BLU spy, chained to a respawn machine. He had to get to the entrance first and stop the other eight mercenaries from killing you.

“WAIT!” He shouted as he pushed Soldier to the side.

He wasn’t the only one in the room; Scout, Spy and Medic, who were faster than Sniper, were also there, also trying to explain to Soldier that this was a child, not a BLU spy.

“Sniper?” asked Spy, a bit curious about why he seemed so scared.

“That’s not a spy…” He said, trying to catch his breath.

“Yes, we figured,” Spy said before getting interrupted.

You slowly opened your eyes and removed your hands from your ears, seeing as the scary man with the big weapon directly pointing at you before didn’t fire and you didn’t explode.

“That’s my-”

You looked around and that’s when you see him! You didn’t get the directions the nice purple lady gave you wrong!!

“DAD!!” You scream as you run over to your dad and hug his legs.

As you squeeze his legs, finally seeing your dad after so long and feeling safe, he doesn’t know how to react.

“-daughter,” he finished his sentence. He’s so relieved you’re ok. He doesn’t know what he would have done if he had found you hurt or worse.

“No frickin’ way…” muttered the Scout.

Soldier, Spy, Medic and also Engie and Pyro, who entered the room after the Sniper, were just as confused as Scout. Well, maybe not Pyro, because it understood something completely different (one shudders to imagine what inhuman thoughts lie behind that mask). But the rest of them were, and, with their eyes, they asked for an explanation. Demanded, even, in Scout’s case, because he couldn’t fathom the idea of Sniper of all people to get a girl, potentially a wife, before him.

Scout sighed in relief hearing that Sniper did not, in fact, get a girl before him. That he had found you as a baby one day when returning home and adopted you.

Everyone else just nodded in understanding (Heavy, Pyro), asked him questions (Engie, Medic, Spy) or praised him for doing the correct thing and not leave you to starve (Spy, Soldier, Demo). All while you were drawing in a corner with a pen and paper your dad gave you.

You stopped drawing once your dad had finished talking and introducing you to his team. Maybe he would introduce them to you next! 

This was going to be your home for a while, after all.

You were adopted roughly a year before Sniper was hired. Your adopted family doesn’t know your birthday, but they estimate you’re 4-5 y/o.

About Sniper in this AU:

He’s a good dad… the three or four times a year he can visit you.

He doesn’t want to be an absent dad, but he’s too dedicated to his job as an assassin for RED.

my favorites aren't based on how well written or well known they are. I completely base them on how attached I am to them.. that means I can relate to them and that at some point I had an obsession with the piece of media they are from.

Venti from Genshin Impact is my no.1 comfort character. he's someone that a person either loves or hates, no in-between usually, haha. Personally it has a lot to do with his voice. I care mostly for a character's story, personality and voice.

Atsushi and Sigma from Bungou stray dogs are close 2nd. I can't choose which one of them I love more, they're both too relatable. observing and studying Atsushi's character over the years has helped me understand myself a lot better.

Ena Shinonome from Project Sekai is a strong-willed girl who has sharp opinions but still has self-esteem issues, she's an artist and her relationship with Mizuki is what I wanna have fr. couldn't have made her a better character.

Luz from the Owl House is literally me if I was a cartoon character.. I needn't say how much I love the representation she brings.

Sun Wukong from Lego Monkie Kid is once again a comfort character, I'm just amazed how a lego show could write such a complex story with amazing animation nonetheless.

Leo from ROTTMNT. I have seen most of the versions throughout the years, but in my opinion he will always be the best written turtle ever. he goes through insane character development and is so lovable.

Jake from Adventure Time. he thaught me a lot growing up and he'll just always have a special place in my heart. his attitude towards life is just comforting to me.

Basil from Omori just has an interesting story and character development overall, and while some people think he's annoying I completely understand him. he's my favorite nervous wreck.

Hanako from TBHK is my favorite traumatized child, bless his heart. I'm a sucker for innocent characters with trauma, esp if they're even badass.

as for the 10th place I'm afraid I can't choose between Kaveh from Genshin Impact and Wei Wuxian from MDZS. Kaveh's character perfectly describes what it's like to always feel that others are more important than you, also what it's like to only live for pursuing your goal in life. Wei Wuxian is honestly one of the strongest characters emotionally, he's been through so much and still has a strong sense of justice and care for the people he loves. his carefreeness is comforting to me.

Neon Au infodump tiiiiiimmeee:

So most of this au is the same as Rise!, as far as side characters and the events that go on -

However Splinter parents a little differently. He's slightly more strict - and definitely yells a lot more. Like he still ignores them for the most part but when they were kids he was just super strict n yelled a lot over mostly nothing.

Anyway.

They're neon colors/more unnaturally colored in this au because the ratio of ooze to their bodies was greater than in the show which just made their colors develop a little differently. Kinda like how human mutants change colors, it's similar to that.

Vinci definitely became the anxiety ridden lad he is today because Sanzio has always been super overprotective and Simon has always pushed back and wanted to go to the surface - so Vinci is sort of stuck in the middle with wanting to stay safe and wanting to explore. Nico doesn't have nearly as much anxiety as Vinci or Sanzio, however he does get nervous in crowds and he tends to get overstimulated when there's huge weather changes.

Nico doesn't rely on his tech as much as he SHOULD, but that's because he knows its faulty. He's come a long way from when he was kid, but he still tends to blow stuff up on accident. It's not like he isn't smart enough - its more like his brain makes connections and he builds the tech almost PERFECTLY except for one tiny thing and it always ends up with an explosion.

Sanzio v much has eldest sibling syndrome - he's super anxious about everything ( like Vinci ) but he's also super good at hiding it. He copes with humor. He tries to be the fun older sibling but ends up forcing it too much sometimes and causing more problems on accident. He also has had to practice holding his anger in a LOT, but Simon makes it a little hard sometimes. He used to yell a lot more about Simon sneaking out but was afraid he sounded too much like Splinter and so has pulled back a bit from hanging out with Simon ( they used to be a lot closer but Sanzio being overprotective combined with him pulling back on purpose has sort of cracked their relationship )

Simon is just angry cause he's been treated like a baby his whole life. He just wants go out and do art and explore New York without Sanzio being overprotective. He likes spending time with Nico because Nico also loves getting into mishaps. Vinci too, but Vinci tends to be just as anxiously overprotective as Sanzio sometimes so if its something super dangerous he either goes alone or takes Nico with him. Also hangs out with April the most out of all of them. ( POV I'm so sad Simon n Vinci can't have the same ' youngest bros gotta stock together' relationship as Leo n Mikey but it just wouldn't make sense )

Nico is v much an optimist and always down to get into trouble with everyone, he especially loves dragging Vinci out to experience the city - cause Vinci would never go out on his own and try these things. Nico is Splinter's favorite because he ' doesn't cause trouble ' however that's just cause Nico is very good at lying and somehow always gets out of it. Vinci/Sanzio almost always take the blame anyway. He and Vinci ate the twins ever, except Nico sometimes gets frustrated that Vinci won't do too much out of his comfort zone. Like he gets it, he just wants his brother to relax a little - at least Sanzio is willing to pretend to relax.

Vinci was also a lot like Nico as a kid but then once Splinter stopped paying attention to them he stopped masking as hard and ended up an anxious mess ( haha he just like me fr)

Vinci is high anxiety/autism and he's bad at masking ( he was better at it as a kid but once he stopped he sort of stopped being able to do it as much)

Sanzio is p similar except he's high masking and is much better at hiding how anxious he is.

Nico is local AudHd and is also terrible at masking ( he mostly just didn't ever feel like he had to )

Simon also high masking autism, a little bit ADHD

I'd love to hear hcs for them tho (I truly only feel equipped to write autistic/ADHD characters so I don't have other ones but if y'all do my ears are open )

Also pronouns are a wip - all I know for sure is Vinci's are maybe gonna be he/neopronouns ( because again this au is just me projecting and I think neos are super cute I just am not sure about them for myself )
