Not that Hero hasn't otherwise been on my mind but- 😆that's mostly been in the form of things reasonably removed from canon. I guess I haven't really brought this up since my initial Swift-Foster-Oak-Garcia hc post (oh how far we've come!), but Hero and Taylor get up to a lot of fucking shenanigans in my head. The part that I mostly omitted (save for a tag or two) is that a lot of their shenanigans involve Lark one way or another! Mostly a lot of annoying the shit out of him cause they find it funny, and he's so reactive, which makes it funnier- but Lark is honestly kind of a big softie deep down as far as I'm concerned, so a lot of his grumpiness is just for show, Taylor grows on him over time, and it's the first time in his life that he actually starts to connect with Hero in a way that his heart wouldn't allow before this point.

Then there's the topic of her name hahaha- I love all the theories people have on the matter, but I remember particularly liking some of your takes actually!

👉👈 My own little headcanon for that topic is that Sparrow was in a pretty dark place prior to having Hero, and her coming into the world is ultimately what brought him out of that, so... That kinda made her *his* hero :) (but Lark doesn't know this and definitely thinks to this day that it was a passive aggressive jab at him over the whole "unsung hero" thing).

:0 I also think (still in purely headcanon territory lol) that when Sparrow named Hero he still had hope that the world could one day return to "normal" (i.e. how it was pre-Doodler), and hence was less afraid of his kid not being able to live a normal life. Like the others (perhaps especially Grant?), I think code purple and the betrayal of Nicky was kind of a slap in the face for Sparrow, and ultimately when a lot of those fears surfaced.

While I'm blabbering about very non-canon affairs, I also think her first words were a mispronounced "Hatsune Miku" and that this was entirely Nicky's fault LOL.

Aight just a warning I'm pretty new to Tumblr and I'm DEFINITELY new to making AUs so I'm pretty nervous to post anything here but I figured I'd just rip the band-aid off.

FIRST POST HYPE!! :D

Anyways I love Mario and I love Undertale and I NEEDED TO COMBINE THEM LEGALLY so I decided to make an au about it! Dunno if I'm actually going to do anything serious with this, I mostly just want to imagine cute shenanigans with my favorite characters and whatnot, but who knows? Maybe I'll actually try to give this a proper plot

So here's the basic info:

- Mario and Luigi, in the midst of trying to chase down Bowser, who has just kidnapped the princess again, somehow wind up far away from the Mushroom Kingdom and on Mt. Ebott. Where, of course, they fall into the underground.

- All the monsters are pretty much their canon counterparts (at least, my best interpretation of them 💀)

- Mario ends up discovering he has the power to reset/load/save/etc, but Luigi does not. This is because Mario has the most determination to get out of here and save the princess

- Toriel isn't quite as overprotective of them as she would be if they were a literal child like Frisk, but she is still very motherly towards them because it's just kinda who she is. She would probably be concerned about them potentially attacking the monsters so she might make them promise not to hurt anyone. I still don't think she would want them to leave because Asgore would take their souls

- Honestly mostly this is just an excuse for the Mario Bros and the Skelebros to hang out XD

- the thing that is really interesting is that Mario and Luigi are not 1, but 2 humans, which means only one of their souls would be needed to break the barrier. This ends up becoming a real issue but I could see it being resolved in a few ways.

1. one of the bros self sacrifices so the underground goes free (much to the dismay of the other, and also my heart would break haha)

2. They decide to just stay in the underground instead of going home (but they would be pretty sad about it because oh no their kingdom is still in danger

3. ??? IDK tbh

- Since Mario can load saves, he's just constantly in this angsty cycle of trying to keep his bro from getting killed off ;;

- Not sure if Mario could keep the resets secret for long since Flowey would taunt them about it, but he definitely would be pretty closed off about it, especially to Luigi. He does NOT want Luigi to know about the horrible things he's seen

-ofc cut to Luigi being confused as heck as to why Mario seems to already know what's going to happen.

- they have cute sweaters because I said so

- not sure how omega fight would work, but either way Mario would have to fight to save both of them (probably all by himself :c)

PRE-RACE WEEKEND / ESTEBAN'S BIRTHDAY

I've been travelling since late July and my flight back to Singapore from Vancouver was actually on Esteban's birthday. I had already committed to editing a video to celebrate his achievements at Alpine. Some of you (bless y'all, seriously) answered my open call for art/video/message submissions and I spent the afternoon before my flight putting it together. THURSDAY

A.K.A. The day after I arrived back in Singapore after 2 months on the road and a 16-hour time difference. I have no idea how I wasn't severely jetlagged lol.

I got to the paddock entrance after 1pm, early enough to still get a spot in front of the barrier, but gosh there were so many people this year. Either F1 has really exploded in popularity (especially with the younger generation) or we just have more fans from overseas coming to Singapore for the race (why tho, it's so hot y'all). Luckily I had a friend with me and he was kind enough to help me take videos when Esteban arrived.

My friend hadn't hit record yet so the video missed Esteban saying "good to see you again, how are you doing?", and you can scroll back up for the rest. ☺️ He thanked me after I asked if he'd seen the birthday video and then there was an awkward moment when I didn't know if we were doing a fist bump or a handshake but man's a gentleman and didn't make me feel weird about it. 🫠

I don't know why after seeing him so many times I still get nervous but I was, and I struggled to take the cap off my marker so he could sign my cap. Thankfully the girl next to me offered her red marker which actually worked (though Este stabbed the life out of it first to be sure). 🙏

I initially wanted to hang around in the evening with some friends who were coming after the pitlane walk. But at 7pm it was already super crowded and I don't even know why (all the drivers, TPs and media are already in the paddock at this point and won't come out till late that night). So yeah, I just went home to not tire myself out before the race weekend actually started.

FRIDAY

I've accumulated quite a bit of merch since last year so I was bringing a different one on each day for him to sign haha. In the selfie I'm wearing a shirt he signed the day before.

I normally try not to take up too much of his time because he always does his best to make sure all the fans get something from him. I only had one shirt for him to sign but after he did, he continued standing in front of me so I just took out my phone for this picture and then he went on his way. Este is bestie fr. 😭🫶

We tried to wait outside the paddock after qualifying but they started chasing us out at 12am and since they had armed police out in full view, we decided to not fk around and find out. (At previous SGPs they'd stay in the van so we never actually saw them.) Also didn't help that Esteban chose that moment to leave so people started mobbing him and even though he tried to stop at first, security physically pushed him to the exit. 🥲 (which was probably for the best tbh)

SUNDAY

I actually gave Este the wrong hat to write my name on (I wanted him to write it on the cap from his store, not the Alpine one) so I had to ask him again and he kindly obliged.

That night I was lucky to catch him just before he left the circuit, there were some fans running alongside him because he wasn't stopping but he stopped when he saw me. 😭🫶 I got a quick hug and he said see you next year so I guess the greedy mfs at SGP are going to continue getting my money smh.

Don't let me ruin the ending for you, I know that some people liked it. That's merely my personal opinion based on what I wanted from the story. I don't think the ending was objectively bad (although I do think it was objectively rushed.) The rushed nature skipped over all the parts I would have found most interesting. HELLO!! “No worries though if you're swamped” JHSHG THIS IS MY FIRST REQUEST EVER, I'M SO EXCITED. And also nervous because I don't want to mess up (that's why I took 5 days to write this) (I wrote it, left it be for a couple of days, read it again, went like “wow this is garbage”, fixed it and THEN posted it).

The request was left a bit ambiguous, so I have a BUNCH of notes and then the little story (which is, btw, not the full length of what I wrote because I accidentally gave Sniper anxiety, so I cut that from the actual story because I feared it wasn't wholesome ahsjah) (if you see “…” in the middle of two paragraphs, yeah that was something that I cut out AHSHh). I REALLY DON'T WANT TO DISAPPOINT, I'M NOT CONFIDENT AT ALL WITH MY WRITING AND DIDN'T THINK I WOULD EVEN GET A WRITING REQUEST, I'M SORRY IF YOU DISLIKE EVEN ONE WORD *explodes*

My requests were mainly open for stamps, userboxes, blinkies and stuff like that, but I did say I'd share my writing if someone asked in my pinned post, so I only have myself to blame heh. And this was actually fun and I enjoyed it, so now I want to do more writing requests. Aka, they're open fr this time HEHE

You're Sniper's daughter, but the story is almost mainly told from the perspective of Sniper (still written in third person for him and second person for the reader, tho, it's just that the story follows Sniper's actions more because idk how to write from the POV of a kid)

I have family issues so if family interactions are portrayed inaccurately that's why, haha /hj

I wanted to write about how Sniper's daughter got to the base and THEN her interactions with the rest of the team, but I've been working on it for 5 days already. This is only the first half, how the reader got to the base TT [I'll continue it if you wish] AND AAAAH THE SECOND HALF IS WHERE I HAD PLANNED MOST OF THE FLUFF AND MOMENTS CATCHING UP WITH SNIPER AAAA (I'm so angry at myself)

CW: Not much, mentions of death because it's TF2 (nobody dies), and the word “fuck” is said like once, but that's it, can't think of anything major

MEET THE SUNSHINE

“Yeah, Mum, I get it. I'll visit when I can,” he muttered.

“Your daughter misses you, you know,” his mum said.

Sniper sighed. “I know, Mum. But I take my job really seriously, and the battle hasn’t ended yet—”

“That battle has been going on for more than three years now!! And we decided you can’t just come home on holidays and expect us to raise your child the rest of the year.”

“We sent her to you” his dad interrupted, “She should be arriving any minute now.”

Sniper's eyes widened, and he nearly dropped the phone. “YOU DID WHAT!? THIS IS A BATTLEFIELD!!” He tried to argue. 

They were his parents and he respected them a lot, always trying to get their approval, but were they actually crazy? What did they even consume to think that sending his own daughter, their own granddaughter, to New Mexico, alone, while there’s a fight currently happening there, is a good idea!?

“Oh, don’t worry about that, after speaking to your boss through a nice lady called… Miss Paula? Pauline? She assured us she’ll be safe.” No way Miss Pauling, one of the few people he —and everyone in the team, really— trusted. No fucking way.

Before he could process this bombshell, a commotion erupted outside his room. The “INTRUDER ALERT. BLU SPY IS IN THE BASE” alarm was set off, and it was followed by Soldier shouting “A BLU SPY IS IN THE BASE!?”.

He hung up, not even saying goodbye, because he had the feeling that wasn’t a BLU spy. Actually, he knew it wasn’t a BLU spy, chained to a respawn machine. He had to get to the entrance first and stop the other eight mercenaries from killing you.

“WAIT!” He shouted as he pushed Soldier to the side.

He wasn’t the only one in the room; Scout, Spy and Medic, who were faster than Sniper, were also there, also trying to explain to Soldier that this was a child, not a BLU spy.

“Sniper?” asked Spy, a bit curious about why he seemed so scared.

“That’s not a spy…” He said, trying to catch his breath.

“Yes, we figured,” Spy said before getting interrupted.

You slowly opened your eyes and removed your hands from your ears, seeing as the scary man with the big weapon directly pointing at you before didn’t fire and you didn’t explode.

“That’s my-”

You looked around and that’s when you see him! You didn’t get the directions the nice purple lady gave you wrong!!

“DAD!!” You scream as you run over to your dad and hug his legs.

As you squeeze his legs, finally seeing your dad after so long and feeling safe, he doesn’t know how to react.

“-daughter,” he finished his sentence. He’s so relieved you’re ok. He doesn’t know what he would have done if he had found you hurt or worse.

“No frickin’ way…” muttered the Scout.

Soldier, Spy, Medic and also Engie and Pyro, who entered the room after the Sniper, were just as confused as Scout. Well, maybe not Pyro, because it understood something completely different (one shudders to imagine what inhuman thoughts lie behind that mask). But the rest of them were, and, with their eyes, they asked for an explanation. Demanded, even, in Scout’s case, because he couldn’t fathom the idea of Sniper of all people to get a girl, potentially a wife, before him.

Scout sighed in relief hearing that Sniper did not, in fact, get a girl before him. That he had found you as a baby one day when returning home and adopted you.

Everyone else just nodded in understanding (Heavy, Pyro), asked him questions (Engie, Medic, Spy) or praised him for doing the correct thing and not leave you to starve (Spy, Soldier, Demo). All while you were drawing in a corner with a pen and paper your dad gave you.

You stopped drawing once your dad had finished talking and introducing you to his team. Maybe he would introduce them to you next! 

This was going to be your home for a while, after all.

Timeline:

Three years into the gravel war (for the main group of mercenaries’ pov).

You were adopted roughly a year before Sniper was hired. Your adopted family doesn’t know your birthday, but they estimate you’re 4-5 y/o.

Fun fact: I was considering at first (aka the first five seconds of thinking about the request) making the daughter a teenager and then remembered Sniper is 27-ish here so uuuh, nope.

About Sniper in this AU:

He’s a good dad… the three or four times a year he can visit you.

He doesn’t want to be an absent dad, but he’s too dedicated to his job as an assassin for RED.

He tries to convince himself he’s not that absent because he cares about you, talks to you at lest once a week through the phone and makes sure your grandparents treat you correctly.

He wouldn’t have accepted RED’s offer if he had known this job would drag out for so long. He can’t quit now.

And he was disgusted that he was right, that someone just got rid of a baby like that, but also glad he found you.

He didn’t know what to do, so he brought you home and asked his parents for help. They all came to the conclusion that they must have abandoned you after noticing that you didn’t grow a moustache like the rest. Mick saw himself on you because he also wasn’t born like most Australians. He remembered having a difficult time as a child trying to adapt without having any facial hair or Australia-shaped chest hair like the rest of the kids and, being an orphan? He knew your childhood would be even worse than his.

I suppose we need to look at "dating" with the aforementioned awkward teenage lenses, which makes things simultaneously not-that-big-of-a-deal and the biggest-deal-in-the-world. I'm sure adult Harry would look back on his awkward time with Cho and think "merlin, did that even count as dating?" - but for all intents and purposes, a teenage jury could decide that yes, they briefly dated. Hell, in teenage years, Ron had a long-term relationship with Lavender.

Maybe people get a bit stuck on the fact that you don't have to be in ride-or-die love to date someone? Fandom is sometimes obsessed with soulmate-ships and extremely intense relationships.

I am also not a fan of James and Lily being each other's first. Feels like people are either extremely traditional, or trying to look at potential previous relationships as adults. Yes, there'd be no time for other long-term, deeply in love, committed partners, accounting for courting, dating, breaking up, and healing. But teenagers are not like that. Ginny dated Michael Corner and Dean Thomas! Hermione dated Krum and Cormac!

The Marauders and Lily were fun and popular and did not carry the weight of being the Chosen One. I'm sure they all had something going on for themselves, as I for one count "kissing a couple of times and going on two or three awkward dates in hogsmeade" as one of the many forms of teen dating.

Exactly, that's kind of what I was trying to say (though I didn't express it very well lol.) What counts as "dating" for teenagers is very different than what it typically means to adults.

Yeah, I think so too tbh. There's a middle ground, which is what I was trying to get at (my brain really wasn't in the mood for coherent replies yesterday rip) which I think is very common for teens. Like at that age even just kissing can be terrifying haha. Anyway, I think for me it feels most realistic for James and Lily to each have had at least one of those short-lived adolescent relationships before getting together, but nothing an adult would consider serious.

This is why it's so silly to me when James is written as a suave womaniser (Sirius used to be written that way too but not recently lol, at least for him it kind of makes sense.) Once I read something where James was famous among Gryffindor girls for being a good lover like bro is a sixteen year old boy be fr. But that aside I do see him as honestly pretty insecure about girls deep down, and I think he'd have been quite nervous his first time. And again pretty nervous and hesitant around Lily.

OR 2 screw the domestic stuff! and go out to steal sweets or candy and idk steal a shopping cart, go spray paint some rich guys house, and do stupid shit like getting arrested only to call dabi or shigaraki for help as you both laugh at how stupid that was.

She would love it if you knew how to style hair or let her style yours and be matching

Speaking of matching toga would absolutely have pj's/ onesies for the both of you. examples I can think of would be the night and light furry ones (I think they neat) also those two peice ones so sharing two sets like, skull top and pink short and then having pink tank top and skull trousers.

Love language is physical touch, words of affirmation, and gift giving all the way. Holding hands? "Ah! We're holding hands haha, suck it, dabi your bitchless!". she needs soothing words during a cuddle session like fr tell her she's an amazing girlfriend. Anything you get her stuff like that is definitely her new bragging right, new hair clip? It's on, and she refuses to take it out until you do it yourself. A little pin it's going on her skirt, a keyring? She's putting at least two of those on the handle of her favourite knife. You made her a painting/ printed a photo/ wrote a poem or anything? It's getting framed and hung above her bed

She probably had lots of photos before you dated, but now she definitely has. 2 folders one is a digital file on her phone, and the other is stashed away, filled with secretly taken ones that she looks at when she misses you

If you're a hero, she'll make it a point to watch you and look at all your fan base online. "It's my turn on the TV my adorable partner is on." She would also want to go on every mission close to where your agency would be. If you have any merchandise, she has it already. If she sees other people wearing your clothing line, she would either compliment it or want to stab them (I can't decide)

Daisy - would be exasperated as to why the kids can't understand something - 'seriously? this isn't even hard.'  - would probably turn it into some sort of murder investigation or something    like imagine them doin algebra and solving for x and daisy staging it so the x is some sort of           murderer or criminal they have to catch - if she's an english teacher i can actually see her picking shakespeare plays and having her              students act them out such a fun eng teacher omg - same for history! she'd fr re-enact like WW1 or something - honestly she'd link everything back to detectiveness - would make SURE she's the most loved teacher at school - EVERYONE has a pash on her - rizzes up all the male teachers TT

Hazel - nicest most understanding teacher ever?? - i see her like actually taking time to sit with a kid and explain the concept - thats essentially it. star student to star teacher she'd be so nice aah :((

Kitty - gossipy teacher - puts all her ships and couples together - like every cool sub ever she just lets u do whatever as long as youre getting the work done - brings snacks into class - ENCOURAGES gum chewing - always slightly late and running on coffee

Beanie - she canonically has dyslexia so i think she'd be really understanding and supportive to other kids with dyslexia  - she'd also be a super nice teacher in general because she had such a hard time at school so i think she'd want to make sure other people don't have that same hard time - plays lots of games with her students, like lots of brain breaks - allows snacking in class - i think she's a nervous teacher but her students really love her so she's chill - like her class will evil eye anyone who doesn't like her and shun them - beanie as a teacher would be so good!

Lavinia - short fuse - veery little patience - but makes her students laugh a lot  - strict when needed, but a pretty chill and funny teacher - BEWARE WHEN YOU MAKE HER MAD THO - literal earthquake fr - tbh i don't think she would BE a teacher in general - just don't think she has the patience - but yeah!

Anyway, we're going to one of those self-service photobooths (I've been thinking of doing this since the third date ngl. I need pictures with him and this is a good excuse to get a few with him which I can keep in my back pocket) first thing, at my suggestion. And then we're going to his home, and hopefully I get to see his cat for real this time lmfaooo.

(He asked if I'm going to stay the night, and I teased him about it. I was like "Boi, you want really want me to stay, don't you?" and he says it's 'cause he's not sure if me travelling home or staying the night would be easier due to the distance between our homes, and then he's like "But also, yes, I do want you to stay. I like cuddles" sooooo. HA. But ultimately, I had to say I couldn't. Even though I really, really want to. SO YEAH. Um. I'm going through it. A lot is happening these days. And I'll be so fucking honest, I'm scared and really nervous. This is new territory for me, so like it's all very unfamiliar. And I'm just... Rolling along with it and hoping it doesn't end up breaking my heart. I've been thinking about it a lot and I'm just like... Well. What happens, happens.
