If ur ok with me asking, what’s kemetic paganism ?
totally okay! i love to yap especially about paganism and witchcraft so i hope ur ready for a long answer lol 😭😭
kemetic paganism is basically the worship of ancient egyptian gods! this typically extends further than just specifically deity worship but also embodying the values of ma’at (balance and order) which is pretty much just being a good person lol!
the term “paganism” doesn’t necessarily 100% equate to religion because you don’t actually have to worship any gods to be pagan! paganism and witchcraft is at its core a belief in the sacredness and importance of nature, and the cycles within nature. it is often associated with polytheism (worshipping multiple gods instead of one) but not always!
i myself would be considered an eclectic pagan/witch because i don’t 100% conform to any faith and i pretty much cherry pick from different (open, of course) practices to create my own personal practice that feels right for me! so while i practice kemetic paganism, i wouldn’t be considered strictly kemetic because i dabble in other pantheons too, and don’t really believe in any sort of afterlife like most kemetics. (the term “kemetic” is in reference to “kemet” which is another name for ancient egypt!)
in pagan circles it’s very common for people to give offerings of all different kinds to their gods or to celestial bodies (planets and stars etc) and a popular method is art! it may sound silly but one of the ways i give an artistic offering to my deities is to make stimboards inspired by them! that’s what my tag #devotional is for :) because they are art pieces devoted to my deities!
i was raised a skeptic anti-theist so i don’t completely wholeheartedly believe in any spiritual practice and i’m fully aware of the high probability that i’m talking to/devoting myself to nothing, but it gives me a sense of some level of control in life and comfort in hard times, as well as some degree of a sense of purpose - which i think are the reasons most people are religious, as well as religion helping people understand and explain the world around them.
i find myself most drawn to the kemetic pantheon and most of the gods i work with/worship come from there, but i also work with/have worked with or have sought to connect with dieties from other religions, such as hellenic paganism (greek gods), hinduism, buddhism, roman paganism and celtic paganism :)
sorry for the long winded answer i hope this helped u learn something new!! hopefully it made sense i’m not good at being super coherent ehe ^w^; 🩶🩶🩶 thank u for coming to my tedtalk

Question for nontheist, atheist, and naturalist pagans!
What does a pagan practice look like for you? And why choose pagan practices over other ritual practices?
There's been some recent talk in Kemetic tumblr (specifically from @inthemarshes ) about how a Kemetic framework might support an agnostic practice but ultimately cant support a nontheist practice. The gods seem to be too far integrated into even the descriptions of its values.
That's not the case for evey pagan framework though - nontheist and even atheist or naturalist pagans exist! Ya'll are few and far between and often drowned out by the many many polytheists that camp out on tumblr.
But if you're willing, would you share why you've chosen to use pagan rituals as opposed to any others? Does any element of the supernatural (ie nonphysical entities, magic, the law of attraction etc) have a place in your worldview?

Do you realise that denying trans people their identity offends so many ancient cultures where trans men and women are part of the stories and play important roles in their histories? Do you realise how racist you're being? Some ancient cultures and religions have trans gods and trans warriors in their stories. Arjuna was trans for a year in the Mahabharata. He taught dance. Vishnu is gender fluid. Loki is gender fluid. By being a transphobe you're also being anti pagan. "a man is a man, is a man". Fuck you. It's nothing but white Christian propaganda. This is why no one likes you guys. It's because you hide behind women empowerment, using the word "radical" as an excuse to say and do racist shit. Transphobia is also racist. It's literally denying people who worship trans gods their culture.
Racist scum.
What a strange read that was.
You're obviously white. And you live in a western country. Probably the USA. You don't know anyone who believes in Vishnu or Odin. Maybe not even Allah. You've grown up in some form of judeo-christian culture, so other cultures appear very exotic to you. And you view people of other countries, especially people of colour, as a monolith hanging onto old legends, the right kind of legends, not that boring Jesus shit that uncool white people like. Cause it's about being cool isn't?
Well, so far, no scandinavian has ever come up to me to tell me that Bruce Jenner is a woman because of Loki (the god of mischief and illusions, by the way) and that my disbelief in gendered souls annihilates their entire culture. No greek has ever told me that men can be mothers because Zeus gave birth to Athena through his fucking head. All the indian feminists I've been lucky enough to interact with agreed with me on the topic of gender. None of them believed in Vishnu or Shiva, by the way. It's almost like people from other countries are not some hobbits still living in medieval times practicing witchcraft. It's almost like they can differenciate between legends and reality more than you do.
Do you know how many radical feminists are women of colour from all around the world? And do you know how many indians, native south americans and africans are reactionary christians? People of colour are not pawns for you to use. They have their own thoughts, beliefs and moral values. Right wing, left wing, believers, atheists. Stop portraying them as martyrs for your western centric cause. This performative anti-racism is pathetic.
Also, my bio literally states that I'm an anti-theist so I don't know why you'd think bringing up religious nonsense would appeal to me. Plus metamorphosis is a very common theme in legends, so what's your point? Those are fairy tales dear. Full of symbolism and adventure, as they always are. Just because it's "ancient" doesn't mean it's good, or right, or valuable. Loki also gave birth to a horse. Are we transpecies? Do you really think northern europeans believe in that shit? And they aren't a "race" even by north american standards either.
You know what's christian propaganda though? Believing that there's your body, and then there's you. A gendered soul trapped in flesh, waiting to be reborn under a new name after you've killed the old one. You've replaced Jesus by "trans woc" and the crucifixion by "stonewall" and you harass non believers all the same. You even hunt witches. You're really boring.

thinking lately about reclaiming “superstitious” (etymology is apparently about an excess of belief, and is tied to scrupulosity Hah), rather than pagan or heathen
went on a trip through wiktionary regarding etymologies and found an ongoing conflation of things like supernaturalist with theist
(what about anti-divine supernaturalist lmao)
intuitionalist is apparently an adherent to a type of math proof theory that rejects the axiom that a statement must be either true or false. so that’s a fun one
profanist doesn’t appear in use yet. hm hm hm
just, increasingly bothered by the binary between theist and “surely atheist means believes nothing supernatural” - and also by the binary of natural/supernatural? as if only what we perceive is natural, somehow without rendering uv rays and dark matter supernatural
thinking a lot about shame, stigma, hide-it reflex around our intuitions and instincts around our senses, experiences, understandings. about an obsession with provability, with graspable truth. about othering in order to make an inner circle. about the concept of idolatry. about locuses of attention and intent. the whole “i wish i could believe” and what is the ‘but’
tired of compound phrases trying to mash together pieces that never want to blend - supernatural atheist, superstitious satanist, anti-theist witch. tired of feeling like finding meaning and inspiration and sense-making in contemporary art is insufficient for “sourcing” a philosophy-theology-spirituality
mushi-ist, lol. mushishian.
i’d like to not be so activated heightened on edge around religious language, like around gender language, and it’s maybe a defense mechanism alerting to real unsafety, but maybe building up my own stronghold and sense thereof can also help, and maybe that isn’t forcing a dispelling of protective important grey fog, maybe it can be installing furniture i feel comfortable sitting in/on.
i think i haven’t properly internally articulated a reaction to the concept of the divine” as in a property things can have. maybe need to establish a firmer boundary there. a non-science-based rejection. though an understandable type of experience feeling.
ugh i’ve been increasingly frustrated with the colonialist evangelical worldview of prominent athiesm, though of course that’s always the most prominent, that’s its whole deal. the ableism too of course, but like extra palpably so
…huh apparently ‘worship’ comes from worth + state of being, and used to basically mean worthy. and ‘profane’ comes from pre-temple. mm, finding the outside-temple worthy huh, without needing to… dedicate it to a purpose (make sacred) or set it apart (sanctify). a worth without taking and reprocessing
i think i resisted looking at etymology for a long time because it felt like a bad part of my inclinations, like mental illness, like overindulgent pattern-seeking, pointless. but it’s so much easier for my brain to find footholds this way, instead of trying to think through broad and abstract - i’ve always been little picture. and it doesn’t mean accepting unquestioningly, or. it’s helping with meaning units, with historical trends, even as none of this is infallible. rotating the camera lens inside my head. tarot does similar. touching my rock collection
probably a big part of why i prefer non-english video media, there’s the extra filter disclaimer room for disagreement reinterpretation
quasi relatedly i am sighing for the pressure on platforms to provide opt-out switches for “””the holidays””” and am back to resenting how can i keep busy enough to not Feel the Enforced Time Off without then interacting with yet more situations constantly invoking The Holidays. etsy fkin, “we know this relationship could be strained so here’s a link to opt out of father’s day notifs” but nothing for anything else (or other reasons) and also gendered marketing ofc. especially frustrating as all the like, platforms through which to access content you’ve already paid for (eg steam, smart tvs, netflix) do this. considering if i should figure out some like, going into physical books and old game consoles, avoiding the s’media, and purging my emails of anyone who invokes the Time Of Year (it getting in the way of uh business emails is especially annoying)
also considering making thursday nights my time of reflection and self-centering and intention setting, that worked when it was an event to go to, it’s separate enough from wednesday awana and friday shabbat and sunday church associations, it might interfere with some jobs i’d like to accept but i’m increasingly getting friday-saturday-sunday jobs so. dunno still what days to establish as my days off exactly, especially given special events - but then again those are special and could be taken off for, as long as i know a bit in advance…
