in succession 2x08 dundee when logan says “the past is all made up” i really do think that’s the thesis of the entire show btw.

like, the roy kids’ conflicting memories of their childhoods that are never clarified through any kind of flashbacks or confirmation, the entire fucking cruises scandal and the coverups of major crimes, kendall’s accident and how he even tries to rewrite the past in the finale (“that didn’t happen. I made it up”) as logan so often did in both big and small ways (from denying his knowledge of the cruises crimes before congress to small moments of “I told you this already” and “did I even make contact?”)

the fucking poem Dreamsong 29 by John Berryman that all the season finales are named after. this is just the last stanza:

“But never did Henry, as he thought he did, / end anyone and hacks her body up / and hide the pieces, where they may be found. / He knows: he went over everyone, & nobody’s missing. / Often he reckons, in the dawn, them up. / Nobody is ever missing.”

And we never have real confirmation that logan did know about cruises because the characters (minus kendall) deny it to the last. but we know. we keep our plausible deniability because we don’t know, but we know. the show essentially makes us complicit in the same way that the characters are. most of them don’t know that he knew, because they never had any explicit proof, but as kendall says in season 3 “C’mon. We knew.”

the narrative continually shows us that logan “keeps a watchful eye over his whole empire” with perhaps the best example being how he buries the evidence of kendall’s accident and manslaughter at the end of season 1. that’s a very clear parallel to the cruises situation and that’s so skillfully and subtly woven throughout season 2 when the cruises scandals are coming to light and kendall is still reeling from the accident and his guilt.

and all that’s not even touching on the whole matter of ATN and the debate over how involved logan really is in what news stories and political views his network pushes (which could be a whole separate post of its own). very similar to how the cruises thing is handled, the line is always that logan isn’t involved, while the narrative shows us otherwise.

there are a million other examples both big and small that i could pull but this post is already such a disorganized mess. someday i’ll write an essay about it i swear, or maybe somebody else out there already has, but i just needed to point out how brilliant and subtle the show is about this as i’m rewatching season 2

I would be very curious to hear about how Sasameru goes about silencing rumors!

If Sasameru is the one hearing the rumour first, he tries to pose questions and comments to subtly either prove the rumour false or suggest that the rumour-mongers themselves are suspicious for taking such an interest in the topic. He never goes for a quick denial (as that rarely works) but rather promises to “investigate the subject” and then later provides Storm with a perfect alibi - which usually is even true.

In the worst cases, the people spreading the rumours may find themselves in oddly similar troublesome circumstances. People are usually only interested in the newest and juiciest gossip, after all, and I doubt it would be outside his (family connection’s) powers to... fabricate something which may or may not be completely truthful.

(Whether or not Storm is aware of his shenanigans is an entirely different question, but there’s probably at least some which passes under his radar.)

Hi lovely! Welcome to the fandom, and also, I’m so sorry for this taking so long.

I honestly don’t know where to start haha, I think I’ll just give a brief (if that’s possible) overview, and then refer you to the more knowledgable on the subject.

Yes there is speculation about Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan being in a relationship. The backlash Xiao Zhan experienced was indeed due to this, more specifically, an AO3 fic written about them. A link to this fic got shared to Weibo. A number of XZ’s fans reported the site, and got AO3 banned in China, which lead to a large number of AO3 users to boycott XZ endorsed products (this is a simplified version because this post could become crazily long otherwise). This was a big deal because it could have potentially got XZ’s other projects blacklisted and him being replaced by other celebs for his product endorsements, and there was speculation that this did happen at one point.

In terms of anything happening between them, oh boy are you in for a wild ride if you choose to start digging deeper. Just to make it clear, if they are a couple, they are in no position to outright confirm it, even if they wanted to. Not without potentially jepordising their careers, not without jepordising being able to do the things they love to do, acting, singing, e.t.c.

The evidence as to why people believe them to be a couple - there is too much to list here but I will share some links further down. It mostly consists of: Behaviour when they’re around each other - from The Untamed behind the scenes footage (not realising how popular it would become at the time and let’s just say their guard was down a bunch of times), interview behaviour and answers, social media posts (and kadian - numbers that sound the same or similar to words in chinese, so you can translate things like timestamps - you will want to look into it more if you’re going to go digging), clothing and accessory choices, song lyrics...

It would be fair to say that at this point; ANY and EVERY tiny little thing any of them do is now analysed to hell and back for any clues that they might be together.

Most of this stuff at first glance does seem like *insert pepe silvia meme here*, and I’ll agree I think a bunch of it probably is. I don’t believe that literally every single waking moment and action they make contains some hidden declaration of love for one another. BUT, there are a handful of these that are very compelling, and do make me believe it’s true.

I’m not gonna detail them here, I would rather people look at the evidence themselves if they’re interested and come to their own conclusions. Fuck knows it can get nasty out there. I’ve seen some interactions where people try and push their own theories and beliefs on others as 100% stone cold truth, and every time it quickly descends into a shit-slinging match (luckily not here, but this is why I will not use twitter lol). And this is why I won’t rb abything that states “this definitely = that”, but will happily rb them making heart eyes at each other e.t.c. I will keep my belief that they’re a couple, and just keep in my mind there is a chance that I could be totally wrong haha.

Kravtiz shows up at Taako and Lup’s door step (like, a month or so after Story and Song) with a big assortment of flowers and Taako is like, “Oh for me, you shouldn’t have?” But on the inside he’s like, “OH FUCK!” 

But like, he knows. He KNOWS that in this universe it’s fine. It’s just a common romantic gesture. It’s not the humble yet potentially binding signifier of love that it is on their homeworld. That’s silly.

But Krav is still standing there, mildly confused as to why Taako hasn’t let him into the house yet. And Taako, mentally, is somewhere between saying yes to a proposal that wasn’t even being asked, and trying to do the math on how many flowers Krav got because, shit that is a particularly large bouquet. Did he hand pick those carnations? Meanwhile lich!Lup comes around the corner to say hey to Kravitz before her brother leaves for his date and she see the flowers and just loses

every inch of her shit.
