xiao: wrapping around her like a blanket!!!
─「蛍」─  the swishing wind enveloping her instantly brought a BRIGHT SMILE over the celestial's lips. a light, airy laugh echoed into the air, gloved digits rose to envelop over his hands and arms. her gentle sound filled the silence between them, only for the traveler to tilt her head so she could press a tender kiss to his jaw, smile not receding at all.

✿ [ Rose ] ✿

—> Note - [ Please bare with me here, it's been awhile since I wrote anything. I apologize for any errors. 1.3k word count. ]

One rose symbolizes love at first sight, or so they say.
" He loves me... " you mutter as a delicate red rose petal found its way to the ground between your legs. Here you were, crisscrossed on the top of a mountain, lap full of pitiful flower petals. Each petal, each attempt at comforting a lonely soul. It felt as if the petal themselves plucked pieces of your heart in every negative way. Your heart strings playing a saddened yet calming tune for only you that night.
In all honesty, the "he" laced in your statement had been unknown for some time now. You weren't too sure who you wished for, however you knew someone must've been out there willing to give you even a moment of their precious time.
" ...He loves me not " Plucking the last petal, sighing in defeat you throw away the stem of yet another flower tarnished without any sign of blessings coming your way. What a silly tale, that a mere rose could predict something as important as ones true feelings for another.
Sat beneath the stars on the outskirts of a well known harbor, you watch as people group up within the city of Liyue, today was supposed to be a special day; or so you thought.
The celebration of a fresh full moon, and the day we honour the loss of an adeptus whom in the past saved their light. Their love. Their peace.
Here you sat alone. Admiring the lanterns that begun to float up into the night sky. Shifting in your spot, you grasp a hold of all the petals which were previously in your lap. Staring off into the night, you drop the petals, allowing them to fly in the gentle breeze along with the lanterns.
As you lost touch of the final petal, you hear a sound on the opposing side of the bush you had been at for quite some time now. Stealthily you make your way to it, cautious not to be seen by any danger that may lay behind its contents. Peeking a head over, your eyes are met with a young man seated on the grass, admiring the brightened sky.
The boy seemed to notice your presence almost immediately. Shifting his gaze, two golden eyes shine within your own, that gentle faraway look seemed to flee as a sternness arrived the moment you locked eye contact. Following afterwards, a short gasp escaped between your parted lips. Kneeling back down behind your rose bush, you couldn't help but feel guilty to have ruined his peace.
You weren't expecting to see another face in this area, most who came to see the Lantern Rite celebration were down in the city, so just who is that boy? curiously, you peak over once again to observe him. Only to be met with his eyes but much closer this time. Turns out he approached the bush as well, sitting just on the other side. He didn't make a peep, staring back at you with a near blank expression. Not a word had been said until you quietly mutter an apology,
" I'm sorry, I wasn't expecting anyone to be up here..."
Feeling awkward, trapped in his gaze, you shy away, looking at the grass beneath you, the sight of a single red rose left in the bush went far from unnoticed.
" I could say the same to you, mortal. "
Mortal? he spoke as if he weren't one as well, from the looks of it he was as human as you. You would've questioned but something about meeting a new person made you tense. Would it have been rude to question him right off the bat like this? who is he?
" Are you alright? " He said aloud, seeming almost concerned by your silence.
" I'm okay, just a little shocked is all. "
" Alright. "
With that, he looked back at the sky. His back leaning against the bush. The mysterious boy seemed to ease up, meanwhile you still felt tense. Perhaps some small talk could ease your nerves. You weren't sure if this was a good inexpectancy, but it didn't seem to hold any danger. The young mans presence was welcomed, but kept at a safe distance. You can't seem to recall the last time you spoke to someone besides yourself that day.
" The lanterns are pretty, aren't they? " You began, your gaze shifting back and forth between the lone rose and the night sky. At this point you couldn't differentiate the stars from the far off lanterns.
" They are. " He stated coolly, seeming fixated on the floating lights. This boy was at peace, a rare sight that you were graced to see without even realizing it. Curiosity burns in your soul, craving to learn more about him.
" Pardon me asking, but who exactly are you? Wait, I'm sorry. That's rude of me to not introduce myself first... " You began to fumble your words, nervously fidgeting with your fingers. " My name is [y/n]! "
Internally beating yourself over the head, you can't help but replay the introduction in your mind over an over again. Since when have you become so awkward? he has done nothing to fluster you so much, yet you can't help but feel your heart pound.
" You may call me Adeptus Xiao. Why are you so persistent on asking silly questions? it's becoming somewhat of an annoyance " the voice grumbles from behind you, as you too now leaned against the bush.
" Is it wrong of me to be curious of a lone boy out on his own? I'm sure I have no room to speak, but I've never seen you around before. Though I can't say I'm much of a people person, so I may have forgotten. " Smiling sheepishly, you attempt to lighten the mood. He doesn't seem to care much for talking with you, only making you frown. Maybe you really were just an annoyance.
" How about you ask me a question in return! "
" Why would I do that? " he inquired.
" Because I'm trying to start a conversation here with you, ya know! and you are making this more difficult than it should be. "
The rosebush had been the only thing separating these two forms, one Mortal, one Adeptus. So close yet so far, they slowly warmed up to the other that night. Accepting each others company, they began to watch the lights of Lique fade, meaning the celebration had to come to an end soon enough as well. Soft tones, soft lights reflecting off your skin from the gentle glow luminating out of Liyue.
A moment of peaceful silence filled the air, until Xiao suddenly stood up in what seemed to be a rush. Concerned, you stood as well, getting a good look at his features for the first time.
" I must cut our time here short, I have a duty that I intend to fulfill. "
Xiao's speech felt so surreal, finding yourself begin to stare in awe. At first glance he'd be like any ordinary boy, but now that you have a moment to really take in his appearance, he was rather attractive. His petite frame wasn't something that overly mattered to you, unlike the way his hair seemed to frolic in the wind rushing to pass by, or the way his golden eyes resonated with the yellow light of lanterns. It felt like you were in the presence of an angel.
You still had so many questions to ask, yearning to be closer to the mysterious boy. Feeling the need to reach out, but didn't have time or were you simply afraid? what was their to fear when all you felt was comfort within his sharp gaze.
" If you ever feel you are in need, call out my name and I will return at your wake and call. "
Taking one last side glance at your shifting expression, he vanished into the night within a blink of an eye. Leaving you behind once again with your lone rose.
'Maybe it wouldn't hurt to pluck a couple extra tonight.' You thought. Smiling gently to yourself, you can't help but replay this special night in your head. Perhaps crossing paths with this Xiao character would be a pleasant change of pace in your life.

@maquiscursed asked :
an abrupt kiss that you melt into after a moment of hesitation . (for xiao and lumine, listen he probably hasn't kisses anyone in centuries or millenia or ever, he's doing his best okay)

Tumblr media
─「荧」─  the OUTLANDER was the type to protect others at an expense of herself. it was something innate to her, something that had earned her the titles of hero many a time whether intentionally or unintentionally. that was probably also why she felt herself connecting to a certain yaksha even when they didn't exchange much words with one another initially. the way he pulled himself away from others was his own way of protecting them from the KARMIC DEBT plaguing his very soul. and, perhaps, that was also why he could see through what she was doing ever since she returned from SUMERU.
the latest meeting with the boughkeeper unveiled a piece of the past unique to her twin brother. the words she heard, the SIGHT she witnessed, the gaze of the sinner and the voice ringing at the back of her mind invaded her dream at night. ABYSS PRINCE, chlothar alberich had called her. no, he ... wasn't calling her. he was calling her twin brother, but the words pierced at her still even now. it felt like she was dragged down to the abyss when she looked at the cracked mirror to see aether's face instead of her own.
                i'm not him. i'm lumine. i'm me. i'm me. i'm me ... i'm —
" i'm okay ... i ... i'm okay ... " words that were uttered when NIGHT TERROR forcefully snapped her to reality, and she found her golden hues being filled with tears. lumine could feel her whole body shaking. no ... power of the abyss. she didn't want any of it to taint him. not him. not when she finally was able to CLEANSE that darkness of karmic debt from his soul. he should remain free, untainted. he should stay away ... she's okay, she's ...
that was when she felt her lips being sealed by his own. it was abrupted, unplanned, a touch that felt both foreign and familiar all at the same time. the CELESTIAL could even feel hesitation in his movement, she could feel him pausing as if unsure, like it wasn't what he's used to at all, like ... he had never done this before. but ... his lips were warm. it was ... so, so warm.
                " ying. "
Tumblr media
                xiao ...
the sound of her TRUE NAME was like a spell, it was like a wake up call that pulled her mind from the deepest, darkest abyss she was being dragged down by the ankle. it was an oath, a summon, a reminder. at that split second the sound of her true name being uttered upon his lips, any shadow of doubts she felt from the crawling nightmare was gone. it disappeared like it had never existed before, and it made crystal droplets fall from her quivering, melting liquid gold. they wouldn't stop.
i'm not okay. the voice echoed in their now linked minds. there was no keeping any secret from her name holder, not when he invoked his right by uttering it. there was nothing keeping their thoughts separate, and the vigilant yaksha would start to feel and see the things she had witnessed. the journey down the memory lane of the abyss twin she almost mixed with her own past. and he would see, and hear the words she kept locked inside.
                the truth.
                i'm not okay. i'm not okay. i —
Tumblr media
" i'm scared ... " of losing you, of losing myself.
and ying felt his warmth coming around her, the tears that cascaded down her eyes wetting his cheeks now that the gap between them was gone once more. their lips met, the salty taste mixed with the tender kiss as this time, they both melted right into that lip-lock while both minds melted into one as well. his thoughts, her thoughts, they were becoming one. through the touch of his lips, the feel of his breath spilling against her own, the taste of his mouth and tongue, their hearts resonating with one another. he was reminding her who she was.
she heard it, his voice, through their connected minds.
                you're not alone anymore, ying.

@maquiscursed asked :
Adepti needn't sleep - it is only on Lumine's insistence that the Vigilant Yaksha deigns to close his eyes for a semblance of rest. Adepti needn't sleep; but perhaps he has overestimated his ability to resist it, when no danger lurks, and the Traveller's luminous aura shines gently near him. As they sit and contemplate the views of Dihua Marsh, Xiao unwittingly drifts to sleep; his head tilting to the side, just barely resting upon her shoulder, teal-coloured hair a stark contrast against the white of her dress. Adepti needn't sleep, but in her company, it is a luxury too enticing to resist its comfortable call. (I saw you wanted soft so I send you a little soft)
unprompted. || always accepting
Tumblr media
─「荧」─  it wasn't the first time he told her adepti don't need sleep. the OUTLANDER had heard it not only from him, but from other adepti themselves how they do not require sleep the same way humans do. the traveler was far from human, even so, she did feel the need to rest her mind in slumber from time to time. perhaps, that was also why she insisted for the guardian yaksha to take a small rest with her. there weren't any need for them to be on alert. the air was peaceful, with the wind caressing each their skin and she sat there, offering him a starlit smile he had known her for while patting the empty area next to her.
she could see a hint of hesitation upon his expression, but her smile remained. and eventually, he relented. the celestial traveler wondered if he spotted the way her smile became just a little wider when he seated himself next to her and closed his eyes. maybe he did, but he humored her anyway.
gaze of GOLD took in the sight before her, the view that reminded them how precious this world is and how it was the land they swore to protect. him by the oath he had given, and her because this was his home.
                what about her home ?
the thought crossed her mind momentarily, just before she could feel the small weight of the vigilant yaksha leaning towards her own. it was a peculiar sight, to see him allowing his guard to drop in such a way and while lumine wanted nothing more than to record this moment into picture, that temptation was swept aside in replacement of absorbing the moment in and out of itself. she could hear the faint sound of his breath, and catching a GLIMPSE of his sleeping expression from the side. the ANGLE itself didn't allow her to see proper without moving, and she certainly didn't want to wake him.
one wouldn't believe that he who had deliberately pulled himself away from others would allow his presence to be so close with someone.
quietly, the CELESTIAL reached her hand out, partially gloved digits finding his own before filling the gaps between their digits with each their own. the way her fingers fit so perfectly within his own caused amber hues to mellow incredibly. it felt WARM, his fingers, his hand, his palm. it felt right.
finally, the TRAVELER allowed her head to tilt slightly, barely making a sound as her head rested over his own, being careful not to wake him up in the process. how the contrast of her golden locks seemed to cut through the dark emerald strands of his. some mixed together in a twirling sea of colors, before long lashes draped over her gaze, and her own breathing evened out.
Tumblr media
their hearts SYNCHED, unconsciously so. the rhythm of two hearts fell into one, accompanied by a faint glow of gold that seemed to trace their backs. a translucent outline barely visible to the naked eye. an invisible bond known only to them, tied with a sort of red golden string at the end of their fingers. fated. bound.
                what about her home ?
the inquiry popped into her half-conscious mind, slowly slipping into deeper slumber, and lumine ying unconsciously curled her fingers upon their connected hands a little tighter as her mind slowly drifted to sleep.
                her home is right here.
after all, it's a person, not a place.

@maquiscursed asked :
Xiao materialises at Lumine's side at their agreed rendez-vous point; delayed only by the unexpected appearance of demonic forces that had required his attention, as can be deduced from the (light, non-critical) scratches and traces of battle on millennial body, from the fatigue painted upon stern features. Still, this is no matter to worry about - he has been through much worse in the past. All he needs before they can go and enjoy the festival is a short rest; golden-winged peng flopping onto grassy ground and tentatively (as though she of all people would reject him - old habits die hard) resting his head in her lap, and closing his eyes with a sigh. "Sorry. Just give me a moment." A moment to rest and heal; right under the protective cocoon of her own golden wings. (i saw you wanted sof and i can finally send you sof so here u go)
pls give me sof. || always accepting
Tumblr media
─「荧」─  THE CELESTIAL was never the type to fuss over details like meeting time, especially when most of the time, the traveler was the one being pulled aside for commissions and assistances that resulted in her being late to a meeting or two. today, however, marked a rather special meet up as the outlander found herself humming softly while waiting for a certain someone. it was weird, she noted. waiting for him somehow gave a sense of delight instead of anything negative. was it due to the fact that she could feel him at the end of their spiritual link ? or was it because it reminded her how long she had been waiting to find him that small wait such as this one became so insignificant ?
the inquiry wasn't answered, however, for he had made his ARRIVAL so her line of thoughts was cut short.
Tumblr media
" ah, xiao — " golden hues lit up instinctively as her face tilted upwards from where she was seated. the sight of the YAKSHA mildly exhausted with a few light scratches here and there were more than enough for her to understand what might have transpired that caused the slight delay. before she could voice out her curiosity, however, his form already flopped himself onto the grassy ground. there was a split second hint of HESITATION before he gently rested his head on her lap.
the weight and the slight warmth placing itself upon her lap coupled with how he immediately closed his eyes from fatigue prompted a light, adoring chuckle from her lips. it was a rare sight coming from the ever-so-vigilant and dedicated protector of liyue. like clockwork, her partially gloved digits found themselves treading through his forest locks, carefully running them through the dark strands in a soothing, calming manner.
" you have nothing to apologize for. this wait is nothing. " the tone she carried was soft, smooth like velvet. they both had waited this long to find each other, any other time in between was INSIGNIFICANT. her other hand couldn't help itself from tracing over his arm, and tender golden light began to radiate from her palm. the SIX-GOLDEN WINGS slowly spread behind her, a clear giveaway how her celestial power was being summoned. the gentle amber light enveloped around the yaksha, healing power lifting away any traces of wounds or injuries he had attained in the recent battle. the light itself was warm, very much like the touch of dawn so defiant to allow any taint of demonic aura to be left upon his skin.
Tumblr media
" all better. " the outlander was PROUD of her work, where she caught his hand that rested over his body before bringing it to her lips. the way her mouth ghosted over his healed knuckles allowed him to feel the brush of golden locks against his hand, and the soft humming of the mark glowing just below his HEART.
" can't let anyone think they can leave any scars on my name holder now, can i ? "
one would chalk that up as her not wanting any trace of karmic debt or demonic aura to TAINT his being, but there was a hint of childish possessiveness in her voice, one that the protector would be able to catch. it was subtle, yet easy to note. given how their hearts and souls are linked, there's no secret she could keep from him. it seemed that ying didn't like the idea of anyone daring to hurt him. a silly notion for someone who had fought in countless wars and attained numerous scars before.
" don't open your eyes yet. " he'd feel how her hand came over his eyes, and the softest of touch would be felt upon his lips. the rhythm of THEIR HEARTBEATS appeared to be synched in that moment. it a soft, quiet kiss to seal their secret rest time, away from people's eyes, and protected by the cocooning of her translucent celestial wings.
no one would pay much attention if they were a little late for the festival, right ?
