Anyone from the US, please submit comments to this!

This is an incredibly personal issue to me. A couple years ago, I was struck by a drunk driver and have lasting effects from the resulting head injury. I have had lots of physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and more migraines than I can count, to get to the point where I am now; I am incredibly lucky to be alive, let alone to be capable of living independently. Not to mention the logistical and insurance hell it has been (I have medical bills up to my ears, and went an eye-wateringly amount of time without an income)

My story is not unique. In 2022 (most recent complete data I found), 67k people were injured in pedestrian crashes and 7.5k pedestrians were killed by cars. For children, motor vehicle accidents are the second most common cause of death. With better road design and more safety considerations, so many of these deaths and injuries could be prevented.

I sincerely hope these regulations pass, and less people will have to go through what I have gone through. Please, please, please submit a comment in favor while these are open <3 inbox me if you do for a virtual hug

IF YOU LIVE IN THE US AND WOULD RATHER NOT DIE FROM BEING HIT BY A CAR

please submit a comment on the NHTSA proposal to implement pedestrian safety test requirements for cars and trucks!!

It would finally make manufacturers design vehicles that are safer for pedestrians and cyclists, instead of the massive wall-of-steel front ends that are excessively deadly for no reason. Europe already has rules like this, but unless we comment in approval, they're not going to do anything to halt the increasing pedestrian deaths in our country.

And please share, even if you don't live in the US!
