Me explaining to my almost exclusively male European flatmates why WAP was not degrading toward woman
#my actual words about wap (and subsquently montero) may having imvolved me saying the nuances of american music are really interesting -#- you just have to know how to identify them#especially communities that have been historically silenced#yes wap is literally about wet ass pussy and thats what they meant but expressing your sexuality as as a female in a maledominated industry#- that sees womens sexuality and body as somerhing to exploit means something mroe#just like montero literally shows lil nas x twerking on satan and he means it but its also about people who told him to go to hell#anyway yeah americans are dumb i know but some or our media is cool and interesting it just takes time to understand the nuances of it#and i didnt ever begin to cover how race intersects with being a woman (in wap) and gay man (in montero)#because that just adds another layer to explain
