Some of Seung-hyo's actions and reactions might have come weird or out of character for us - and that makes sense too. Cause he was fighting a lot of battles in his head (not that makes some of his actions justifiable). Well I am here to point out the dialogues that acted as a stimulus to his confession, and why? Because they elements some factors that had kept him from expressing himself.
1. Fear of unresolved trauma and emotional baggage.
Seunghyo carrying a baggage of his parents relationship which he might not show , but has a great impact on his behaviours and outlook. Though it might not be highlighted in the drama it's not easy for a child to overcome the trauma of unsuccessful relationships of their parents.
"Have some alone time with the pool. You have to create a new future. Make sure it's a nice goodbye to the past"
Goodbye to the past, is leaving away all the baggage - trauma and the outlook that those actions created.
2. Fear of rejection and change in the relationship.
He might fear that his feelings are not reciprocated and that confessing could lead to rejection. That his confessing could lead to a change in their dynamics what if she runs away from him, he could no longer even be a part of her life anymore? But the constant fear of loosing her in both the situations either by confession or by letting her go kept knocking in his mind. And in all this we saw him contemplating about what the ending , outcome this would lead to, but does it really matter when your feelings are so deeply routed?? Do you ever have a "perfect timing" for expressing love- or Love is all about timing
"No matter how carefully I shape the clay. No one knows how beautifully it will come out of fire. Will it become a perfectly formed vessel? Or will it crack and shatter to pieces? You won't know until it goes in the kiln."
So you can never fear the outcome if you don't even try to go for it. As simple as that!
3. Holding onto missed opportunities.
Over the years, there have been several opportunities to confess, but he has missed them, leading to regret and further hesitation. But the fact that no matter how difficult and unsure the situations would have been it was always he himself who could have done it. Waiting for the right opportunity, depending on situations and circumstances won't fruit you rewards. He just needed to get over his regret and stop turning himself miserable "into a self-suffarance state".
"Seunghyo, you have to save yourself from unrequited love. Even I can't rescue you"
4. Conflict between Urgency and Inaction.
What exactly is the right time? When is it too early or too late? Do you really think we can predict or realise these things in real sense? We only understand it after a series of events that have taken place. So if there is no event or action how can you predict the outcome or fate of something? The fear of being too late caused him to avoid the situation altogether, convincing himself that it's better not to act than to act too late. The jealousy that would push him to action rather deepened his fear of not being right on time (once again).
"There once was an athlete in 200 m event whose weakness was being slow off the blocks. But despite this, he overcame it through his tireless efforts , even if it's a bit late. I'd tell him to muster up the courage , just like the swimmer did"
So it doesn't matters if you are late or early, what matters is taking up the courage to try expressing what you mean.
---------------------------------------------------
Though his actions have been confusing. He was going back and forth, avoiding and running behind yet going mad and crazy. It's my own thoughts that we should cut him a slack this time and consider his indecisiveness as result of all the things going inside his head.

Malleus x Irina
A little doodle I made of the two of them
(for anyone who can't use spotify, the song names will be at the bottom of this post)
Tumblr media
I love them together so much
It is no longer possible for me to imagine either of them being with anyone else but the other. And for me that's really saying something— I ship my OCs with a lot of characters. And I'm a multishipper too— like, I can definitely find someone's, for example, OC x Leona ship really cute while still shipping my own OC Tomoe with Leona. But it's impossible for me to seriously imagine Irina with anyone but Malleus anymore, and vise versa
Edit 2: I answered an ask I got about them~
If this post gets even like 3 likes that's gonna be enough interest gauged for me and I AM gonna start infodumping about them and just going off the rails about why I think they're perfect and made for each other under the tag: #mallina 🐉x🐰
EDIT: IT NOW OFFICIALLY HAS 3 LIKES YOU ARE NOT SAFE THIS IS NOT A THREAT IT IS A STATEMENT OF INTENT I WILL INFODUMOP--
BUT! I'm gonna include what I wrote for them in Irina's Showcase Post, under the cut + some new stuff for Book 7
Book 2
One night she'd just been laying in bed unable to sleep, hearing the distant whispers of her parents fighting at the edges of her mind like usual, and deciding to go outside just to escape the confined room and get some kind of distraction from hearing them. She was incredibly startled hearing someone suddenly call out to her, having been too stuck in her own thoughts to notice him approaching like she usually could. She was honestly scared at first, though mostly as a result of being caught with her guard down, which she usually never was.
But as soon as she properly looked into his eyes, all that fear suddenly seemed to fade away in an instant. She didn't know why, but she suddenly started to feel relaxed in his presence, more so than she usually ever did. And she felt almost sad when he disappeared. But she told herself off for it; that was the first time she'd ever met him after all, and she didn't even know his name. But since he'd said she could call him whatever she wanted...
She'd call him Peridot, after the color of his eyes. 'Peri' for short.
Tomoe's (my 'Yuu') first reaction to the name 'Peri' was to laugh, explaining that it made her think of Perry the Platypus. And once she'd also had the thought, Irina couldn't help but laugh too, 'Peri' being exchanged for 'Perry' in her mind after that point.
Book 3
She ended up being asked by some Student or other if she'd thought about joining a club yet. She hadn't, not even really knowing which clubs actually existed. And so she decided to take a look to see if anything seemed interesting; she had a lot more free time after being fired from her job anyway. When she saw that there was a 'Gargoyle Appreciation Club' and that it had only one member, she knew instantly who that must be, and decided to join it.
Book 4
When Lilia showed up to give her the postcard, she knew who it must have been from. And so she asked Lilia to wait for a second, rushing into her room to get a box, with a letter attached, which she asked him to give to the sender of the postcard. It was a birthday gift for her friend Peridot; a clay tea pot, its spout designed to look like a little dragon, the handle on the opposite end sculpted into the shape of a scaly tail. The letter contained not only wishes for him to have a happy birthday, but also an explanation of the spout. She wanted to give him a Gargoyle as a gift, but she also wanted to make sure it was an actual Gargoyle, with a clear purpose, rather than just a decorative Grotesque. So she settled on a tea pot! Since it serves as the spout, the 'needs water spout' element of a Gargoyle was cleared, as well.
She wasn't there to see it, but when he got her gift and read the letter, he was so beside himself with joy that for the first time in at least a century, there was sunshine in Briar Valley. Not only was it a birthday gift from his best friend, hand-crafted no less, it was also incredibly thoughtful, proof to him that she'd been listening and paying attention to every single word of all his rambles about his beloved Gargoyles. The next time they met again, before any words could be spoken he quite literally picked her up off the ground and spun her around as a way to say 'thank you'. That was the moment she admitted to herself that she'd fallen in love with him.
He ended up insisting on them drinking at least one cup of tea for all their club meetings after this point, so he got a chance to use it. And he also insisted on the same for every single Housewarden meeting he went to, which he'd started to actually know the times and places of thanks to Irina knowing through Tomoe and telling him. If he'd had any less decorum he would have literally shoved the pot in the face of random people in the halls; he was that happy about it.
Book 5
She's also the one who gives Malleus the tickets to the SDC. For their booth at the cultural festival Irina made a bunch of small clay figurines of Grotesques and then wrote above them the differences between them and Gargoyles, to educate people.
When Tomoe meets Malleus for the first time, she lightly teases Irina, asking "So this is the famous 'Perry the Platypus."' Irina got very embarrassed, and Malleus, eyes wide with surprise, asked if that was meant to refer to him. Irina, face burning with embarrassment, then explains the name and its connection to a certain animated Platypus spy, but also says her nickname for him was actually supposed to be short for Peridot. It ended with Malleus bursting out laughing right then and there, Irina, still embarrassed, saying: "W-was it really that funny?" It then becomes a recurring inside joke of him calling himself 'her platypus friend'.
When Malleus began to fix the stage, not being used to magic and thus a bit scared at first, Irina moved close to his side out of reflex, feeling safer there. It made him really happy to think that for once, not only was there someone who wasn't afraid of him, but she even felt safe around him. Though she became very flustered when she realized she'd been gripping onto his jacket arm.
Book 6
She stays behind at NRC, in an unoccupied room at Diasomnia.
You can guess who invited her.
Book 7
I have not yet read Book 7, but! This time it's Irina's time to shine instead of Tomoe! Irina understands why Malleus does what he does, she also hates losing people; that's why she's not going to lose him to his Overblot
New Book 7 thing:
She runs to him, who's sitting on the ground, and throws herself around his neck. She's crying. “I-I-I was— w-was so— sca-red…!” Her voice is shaking and wavering so much from the tears that she can barely speak. “I…apologize, my dear Child of Man… I know now that my actions were wrong, but it was never my intention to frighten—“ “Th-that's not why!” Uncharacteristically, she cuts him off. “I was so, so, s-so worried! I thought you could die! I-if I didn't defeat you in time. I-I thought you were going to die! I thought I'd lo-lose you!!!” Then she just can't hold it in anymore— she starts wailing, just at the mere thought. She holds him tighter. When she's calmed down enough that there are no longer tears cascading down her face, she pulls back…and she cups his cheeks and pulls him closer so their foreheads touch. “I love you. I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you! I—“
If you've read this far I'm gonna guess you're interested, and I'm humbly asking (begging) for asks about this ship I love them so so so so so so so so so muchhhhhhhh and I wanna YAP but I usually don't know where to start

What do you think is the huggability score of our main characters + Brick out of 10?
Putting this under a readmore bc this is some EXTREME Research happening here
Peppino: 6/10. Hes short and hes fat and warm and soft so theoretically he SHOULD be a solid 10/10. But he sweats easily and i think physical contact would make him explode so hes shakes like a leaf the entire time. He will not return the hug well but he WILL make an attempt. If you catch him at a good time, hes got the perfect hugs. But maybe bring a napkin or two.
Pepperman: 1/10. Hes too gotdam big. He would love to be able to hug properly but hes very. Wide. And if he does manage to hug you properly, you will end up directly inbetween his eyes and unnervingly close to his teeth. This is also assuming he Wants to hug people; hes got better things to do. Like sculpt and draw and do rich people things like vacationing on a yacht or gaslighting poor people. (The actual pepperman portrait for the boss fight is very cute looking and i give that a 7/10 just bc i can. Hes got a lil painters apron; the whole fit makes him look huggable)
Vigilante: 3/10. It depends on your tolerance for odd textures. Hes just cheese. Hes cheese! Hes a bit sticky; he never leaves residue but the stickiness can be a bit offputting. Hes remarkably dense, so hugging him would be like hugging a memory foam mattress; wonderful pressure pushing against u but again. The texture… He would be a good weighted blanket; thats not a hug but do what you will with this information
The Noise: 7/10. He is small 🥺 Assuming the hug is earnest and Not a ploy to lower your guard, you are just hugging a Small Person. And we (small people) give the best hugs you can possibly have. But only if you let us hug around ur neck and not the midsection; he (we) cant wrap our arms around that. Points deducted bc the noise is just a menace and hed use a hug as an opportunity to chuck a potion of Explode Your House and then ur house Explodes.
Fake Peppino: 10/10. He can change shape and density at will; whatever you look for in a hug, he can do it. Light? Hes as delicate as a flower. Tight? Coiled like a snake. Dont like the goopy texture? For the time it takes to make this hug happen; the texture is Gone. This man Loves Hugs and with practice, has learned to give the Best hugs. As long as u dont mind his face and the odd way his skin seems to warp and bend in front of you.
Pizzahead: 2/10. TECHNICALLY capable of good hugs. Tall, long arms, friendly disposition. Massive point reduction bc hes doing one armed hugs to try and befriend you so he can sell you on this pyramid scheme he just Knows ur going to knock right out of the ballpark. Weaponized Hugs. Put him in Jail.
Gustavo: 9/10. Hes a gnome. Hes hairy and short and he always ALWAYS goes for the arms around the neck bc hes like 3’ tall. He is strong and so all hugs are tighter than you expect them to be and that can be good or bad depending on ur preference. He is also Small and Compact so hes very warm :) Solid hugs :)
Brick: 5/10. VERY pet-able!!! Imagine a rat but just Big. Hes SOFT and hes got Luscious Fur and wonderful little rat hands. But hugs are either 10/10 (rat owners dream) or 1/10 (texture hell). Hugs can be suffocating. Brick does Typical Rat Movements which includes snuffling your head very rapidly. Whiskers tickle. Rat Hands tickle. Brick MAY nibble at your head (beware). You wont be able to wrap your arms around this beast which may be a dealbreaker to some. But assume that this rat both Loves and Craves little huggles, so he is always an eager hugger :)
Noisette: 10/10. All the positives of Noise but without possible mischievous intent. She may fall asleep in your arms since she will be forced to stay still for longer than 2 seconds. Its endearing though.
Gerome: 7/10. Hes like Clay to me, like a block of playdoh. Tough enough to keep his shape, but soft enough that it doesnt Hurt to hug him. Hes not very soft or comfortable BUT hes got Intent behind his hugs. Hed only hug someone if they needed to be comforted and hes Very good at that. Very solid and grounding hugs if youre willing to hug a Block.
Snotty: 3/10. Smelly. So fucking smelly. Ranked higher than Pizzahead just to spite that twink.

SO @32girassoisdevangogh! REMEMBER WHEN YOU TOLD ME YOU WANTED MY DESIGNS TO BE MARKETABLE PLUSHIES?!
Well. These are not exactly plushies but…
Tumblr media
Tada! I can’t believe I actually managed to “finish” them in time. We’re leaving for England on Monday so it was a race to have them somewhat finished. I made Bamsaegi first. Originally the plan was to make these “dolls” completely out of cotton, loads of glue, some pipe cleaners and sting. It did not go as planned. First up instead of cotton I ended up buying wool because I figured it’s close enough.
Tumblr media
It was just SOOO MESSY and wouldn’t keep its shape no matter what. My mom saw it wasn’t working and asked me why I didn’t get proper cotton from the drug store. I only went looking in arts and crafts because I thought what they would have in the drug store would be pressed into round shapes. You know. Those things you use to remove your make up. The next day mom took me to the drug store and turns out they had exactly what I wanted.
Tumblr media
Finally. I could get properly started. Except no! It was a horrible material to work with! The cotton constantly kept sticking to my paintbrush I used to apply the glue. Additionally the cotton kept picking up all kinds of dirt. At times turning black. Would not recommend. I don’t know how the YouTuber I watched made it look so easy.
I was at the end of my patience. If I want to make 3D stuff I would have to go and use DUN DUN DUN polymer clay. Or regular clay. JUST NO. I hate the feeling of clay stuck to my hands. Autism? What are you doing here?! I had to figure something else out. I didn’t feel like learning to sow. So. This thing with cotton and glue reminds me of something else. Papier Mache!
I actually used to think that this cotton mess would be better. I thought that papier mache takes an enormous amount of paper. Probably because the one time I did it prior to this project was in art school as a kid with a neurotic teacher. So. Where was I going to find the paper I would need?
There’s this saying in Slovakia that we’re one hundred years behind monkeys (joke about evolution meaning we’re behind the rest of the world). I didn’t even need to leave the house to get what I needed. The mail box was full to brim with catalogs. Plus there were recently the EU elections. Which meant a large news paper looking thing with all the parties written out on it. Perfect!
Tumblr media
So that’s how Bamsaegi came to be. I first made a skeleton out of pipe cleaners. Covered that with crumpled paper. I found it kind of ironic that I’m making a character from a communist propaganda cartoon out of a bunch of advertisements. Additionally papier mache would be something you couldn’t do in North Korea. From the book I read paper there is rare and kept a close eye on. For obvious reasons of course. If I would ever have a serious gallery exhibition of these dolls/sculptures I think I would expand on that.
As you can see I ended up covering him in cotton. I wanted the texture and also it smoothed out the bumps. This was before I learned that if you want it smooth you got to cover it in a bunch of small pieces of paper. I first covered the base with glue. Then took a thin bunch of cotton. To smooth it out and to make it stick better I would run the paint brush across it in the direction of the fibbers. Lastly I painted it with watered down acrylic colours after it dried. I was surprised at how painting it went so smooth. Very satisfying.
I decided to first do a more show accurate character. I thought the stylised proportions would be easier. Obviously he’s not perfect. With the colours and the off proportions he’s looking very retro. Like the 70s and 80s communist era toys I saw in an antique shop. I like to think that if they made official toys back then they would look like this.
Tumblr media
Onto Geumseagi. He started off as a Disney Prince Eric from Little Mermaid doll by Mattel. So the size of your average Ken. I sadly don’t have the original doll photo. He cost 14 euros (technically 13,99). I thought I would cut him out of the papier mache and use him as base for other dolls. He’s still buried in Geumseagi today. I didn’t want to risk cutting him out of there. And I like the added weight. Those stupid boots were a terror so I don’t think I would want to deal with them when making a new project.
Tumblr media
So the head. Originally I wanted to mould it out of clay. But once I realized that I wouldn’t be cutting him off the doll I decided to use the original one. The clay one would be too heavy and hard to keep on the neck. As you can see I chopped off his nose, chin and let’s say gave him a rather brutal hair cut. Knowing what I know now I would have cut off even more of the hair. From my drawings I know big foreheads on squirrels do not look good.
Tumblr media
And there we have it. Geumseagi in my style. In 3D. There are 2 tiny spots on the legs where the original doll pokes throught. The pants were rushed not gonna lie. I like that it’s a bit wrinkly. It reminds me of my paintings with the different thicknesses of paint. Making something 3D that looks like my paintings is something I wanted to achieve for a while. I’m glad I don’t have to learn how to use Blender. Unfortunately it does mean I can’t use the dry brush technique because it emphasises those crevices. For shading I then have to go manually where I want it. Like under the chin and around the pockets.
I’m excited to see what ya’ll will think. Sad that I discovered this just when I’m leaving. Grandma probably won’t want ripped up news paper and glue all over her kitchen.
PS. I’m adding his tail when I return. Too much work.

How to write the first chapter Part 2
I'm back with Part 2 on how to write a good first chapter. Read Part 1 here.
A Voice That Slaps (in a Good Way)
Your writing voice should be like that person at the party everyone’s drawn to: funny, mysterious, intense—whatever fits the vibe of your story. Whether you’re snarky or poetic, let your voice shine. Just not, like, in a “I’m yelling at you with CAPS LOCK” way.
Make Us Feel Things
No pressure, but if we’re not emotionally invested by the end of chapter one... well, we’re probably not sticking around. We need to feel something—fear, joy, suspense, awkward secondhand embarrassment—whatever it is, give us that emotional hit. Just one hit. We’re hooked now. Thanks.
Purpose, People.
Have a Goal. The first chapter should hint at where the story is going. Give us a sense of what we’re chasing. What’s the big picture? Doesn’t have to be crystal clear, but at least leave us a breadcrumb trail. There's an abusive neighbor, what do you think will happen? The lights in the kitchen were on although you swore you had turned them off before you left. Your dog doesn't like your friend and keeps barking every time you're near them... etc
Memorability: Hit Us with That Wow Factor
Make your first chapter stand out. Whether it’s a killer line, an unforgettable scene, or just a vibe we can’t shake, make it memorable. You know, the kind of thing that makes us put down the book and go, “Whoa. That was epic,” or even just, “I need to see where this mess is headed.” For example, the book "They Both Die at the End" by Adam Silvera starts with a chilling premise where two people are informed the day they will die. The first line instantly captured the attention and made readers curious enough to finish to the end.
Balance Between Show and Tell
You’ve heard this a thousand times, I know. Show, don’t tell! But also... sometimes, it’s fine to tell. It’s just all about balance. Don’t give us 10 paragraphs of internal monologue, but also don’t make us guess at everything. We’re not detectives. Don't info dump but don't be selfish.
Example: Lara was a 25-year-old woman with long, chestnut hair and emerald-green eyes that she had inherited from her mother, who had passed away five years ago in a tragic car accident. She worked as a marketing assistant in a big city, though her real passion was pottery, which she had been doing since she was 14 after taking a class at summer camp. Her favorite color was blue, her best friend was named Sarah, and she always had her morning coffee with two sugars but no milk, because she was lactose intolerant... etc.
Okay, we get it. So much info.
Now Balanced Storytelling (AKA "That Feels Better")
Example: Lara sipped her black coffee, staring at the pottery wheel in front of her. Five years after her mother’s accident, the spinning was still the only thing that calmed her nerves. She pushed thoughts of her marketing job aside and went over to the wheel. This was where she belonged—her real passion, hidden away from the chaos of city life. Lara sat down on the wooden chair. One of the legs was broken and a nail was missing, but she couldn't care less now as she slowly let the clay take shape under her hands.
Now we’re showing her love for pottery, hints of her backstory, and her character—all without dumping everything in one go.
And there you have it! Now go out there and write your amazing, epic, flawless first chapter. And remember, no one’s perfect—except that one writer who’s probably over-caffeinated and crying in the corner. Reblog if that's you.
Oh, I almost forgot... I noticed a lot of people suffer with writing their first chapter (I myself deleted and re-wrote my first chapter 16 times before finishing my first novel) So, if anyone has questions, don't hesitate to ask and I'll try to give you as much help. And if you want me to revise and edit your first chapter, you can find me here.

Henchmen of Clayface
Tumblr media
Basil Karlo henchmen are much more of a cult, only apearing in Joker's Asylum: Clayface #1 2010. The Children of the Clay come to Clayface's attention after he atcted a theatre for showing his films in a late night schlock collection. Originally believing they were there to mock his movies clayface threatened to eat one of them, he was surprised when the fan asked to be eaten. The Children of the Clay explained to Clayface and they as a cult have two major interests in him. Firstly he played a monster in the movies then went on to become an actual monster in real life after his transformation. Secondly the wider world's rejection of him frames him as an underdog who they can relate to do to feeling rejected by society. Clayface takes over an abandoned theater and staffs it with fake people made of clay. The follower all want to be consumed by Clayface and so he begin doing so. They are interrupted by Batman and Clayface shape shifts into one of his followers blending in since of them wear his outfit from his first film. The cultists and Clayface escape to fight another day, except this was the last appearance of The Children of the Clay.
Tumblr media
There is so much story potential with The Children of the Clay and it they have only became more relevant over time. a cult of lonely people who form because of a intrest in cinema who are lead into self destructive or just suicidal ideas. This sounds like it could be a call out of about 8 different online groups and that why it would make for an impactful modern story.
There is also Basil Karlo's role in the group since he works as the perfect idle for the cult, but I don't believe he would ever consider being a long term leader. That role of leader could go to any number of characters. Each of the other Clayface's could bring something different to the role. Matt Hagen can be the bemused bum who is taking advantage of the cult and cults of all they've got. Preston Payne can turn the cultists into clay to relieve his pain like his first appearance and simply say it's them becoming one. Sondra Fuller has always had image issues and wanted to be beautiful, so a cult worshipping her as a godess in her natural for would work. Cassius Payne could be a immature and cruel god or his parents could say he is a messiah to use the cult to get him back.
There is also the option for original characters like a member of the original cult trying to bring it back and maybe empower himself like Basil Karlo did with the Mud Pack. The opinion to have one of Clayface's lost fragments be worshipped and gain personality from that could really work. If there must be a twist they can believe there a part from Basil Karlo when in reality it's from any of the other Clayface's.

𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐎𝐌 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒: BASIL KARLO.
In universe, Basil is like the equivalent to the actor D.oug J.ones, in that he is very talented and primarily portrays non-human characters in film. It's mostly due to the fact that he is incredibly tall and very gangly in appearance, which makes him perfect for monstrous roles.
In my canon for him, his clay monster form does not physically exist (mostly bc the reevesverse is very grounded and i want to keep it that way). It is merely a hallucination he sees in mirrors where he should be seeing his own reflection.
Due to his undiagnosed schizophrenia, he suffers from the delusions and occasionally forgets who he is once the camera cuts. Many actors he works with think it's a form of method acting that he does, when in actuality, he is just stuck in his role until he is able to snap himself out of it.
At some point, he suffers from an intense mental breakdown in which he pours a gallon of liquid latex over his body and takes the shape of a monstrous, almost clay like monster akin to the one he sees in his reflection. He brutally maims one of his co-stars, taking them hostage like many of the monsters he portrays do. It is only when he sees the Batman that he gains a sense of clarity and lets himself be arrested and taken to Arkham for treatment.
Eve tries to visit him in Arkham but he always turns her away, not wanting her to see him like this.
Also at some point while in Arkham, he becomes one of Crane's test subjects, who documents his reactions to his fear toxin. When exposed, Basil sees the clay monster again, but now it's his body that has taken a clay like appearance rather than his reflection. As a result, Basil mutilates himself by attempting to rip off a part of his face, thinking that it's clay, but he is restrained before he could do more damage. His face heals, but it appears very lopsided.

For those looking to enhance their property, swapping outdated roofing for something captivating could make all the difference. Here are five unique roof designs to inspire your California dream home.
1. Modern Flat Roofs
Flat roofs are perfect for creating a clean look. They pair beautifully with minimalist architecture and allow for efficient use of space. Their ability to blend into contemporary designs makes properties far more attractive to potential buyers, a direct example of how roofing impacts your home’s resale value. Flat roofs exude modernity while giving you extra outdoor living space.
2. Spanish Tile Roofs
Step into the golden age of Southern California charm with classic Spanish tile roofs. Made from clay or terracotta, these roofs can handle the state’s sun-drenched weather with ease.
Their warm, earthy tones complement stucco exteriors, making them irresistible for homeowners dreaming of coastal elegance. Plus, the durability of these tiles means they retain their value over decades, an excellent investment for anyone considering resale one day.
3. Butterfly Roofs
For those who like to make waves with their homes, butterfly roofs offer a bold, eye-catching design. These V-shaped roofs create unique angular lines that stand out in any neighborhood. Beyond aesthetics, butterfly roofs are practical—they enhance natural ventilation and collect rainwater more efficiently, perfect for eco-conscious Californians.
4. Gable Roofs With Glass Extensions
If you’re chasing panoramic views or natural light, a gable roof combined with glass inserts can redefine your living spaces. This design allows sunlight to pour into the home while offering unobstructed outdoor views, ideal for homes near California’s striking coastlines or rolling vineyards.
The classic pitched design also creates ample attic space, offering a mixture of form and function. It’s no surprise that upgrading to a gable roof with glass accents often boosts curb appeal for prospective buyers.
5. Green Roofs
Think outside the traditional roofing norm with a green roof. These living rooftops are covered in vegetation and infuse properties with a touch of nature. Beyond their aesthetic perks, green roofs offer insulation benefits, reduce urban heat, and filter rainwater. For properties in bustling urban areas of California, a green roof can provide a much-needed sanctuary and modern edge.

Weekend Top Ten #655
Top Ten MCU Actors Who Could Join the New DCU
It feels like it’s been a big moment for superhero TV recently. Two new shows have just started based on both DC and Marvel characters – The Penguin and Agatha All Along, respectively – and there’s increased jibber-jabber about upcoming programmes too. Creature Commandos – the first proper, official, for-realsies production from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU – starts in December. And there’s been some interesting casting tittle-tattle about what’s probably the biggest show they’ve got on the docket, Green Lantern series Lanterns, which is going to feature both Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
We already know what one Green Lantern looks like, at least, thanks to paparazzi shots of Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner on the set of next year’s Superman. But Gardner is always, really, the other Lantern; too much of a dickhead, and possessed of too terrible a hairdo, to really be considered the main event. Hal and John, on the other hand, could both be considered the “proper” Lantern, and so it’s going to be really interesting to see them share the screen in what appears to be a sort of buddy-space-cop crime drama.
Anyway the really interesting thing about all of this is the names apparently in the mix to play Hal. I think we already knew (or assumed) that Hal was going to be the older character, more of a mentor-type figure to a younger John, and this has been borne out in some of the actors they’ve either been looking at, talking to, or who’ve already turned the role down. These include Ewan McGregor, Chris Pine, Timothy Olyphant (who, of these names, would be my choice), and Josh Brolin. Now, three of these have already played comic book characters before; both McGregor and Pine are in prior DC films. But Brolin was, of course, an absolutely huge part of Avengers, playing interstellar bad guy Thanos across a number of films (if Brolin had taken the role, he’d have been not one but four characters in Marvel and DC: Thanos, Cable, Hal Jordan, and Jonah Hex – so maybe he thought it was a bit much).
If Thanos can cross the floor, so to speak, to take a major role in a DC show, then – of course – nothing’s off the table. Heimdall himself, Idris Elba, is also DC’s Bloodsport; and there have been a number of smaller-scale roles cast with actors who’ve had a foot in both ponds. I think Thanos being Green Lantern might have been the biggest deal, however; we may have to contend with everyone’s favourite emerald space cop being a major Star Wars character instead.
This has inspired my list this weekend, which is all about actors who’ve had (moderately) significant roles in the MCU, who could now jump ship and appear in a DCU production. I’ve done a few casting suggestion lists over the years, so I’ve tried not to repeat myself – as such I’ve avoided even speculating on truly major JLA-type roles, so there’s no “Chris Pratt for Batman!”-type stuff. Some of these I think would be truly excellent suggestions; others would just be amusing.
Have at it, Jim and Pete! Take your pick!
Tumblr media
Pom Klementieff as Zatanna: Klementieff brings a certain other-worldliness to her roles; she always feels at a remove, can project a kind of oddness that’s either adorable and endearing (Mantis) or strange and threatening (Paris). I think this, plus her great comic timing and natural ability, would be perfect for backwards-talking magic-user Zatanna. And – hey – I kinda feel like magicians should be French, I don’t know why.
Edward Norton as Clayface: Norton is, I guess, only technically part of the MCU, but he still counts! He’s got a reputation as a super-serious actor; this would make him perfect to play Basil Karlo, a vain and fading actor who ends up becoming a shape-shifting goo man. He could play him like his character from Birdman, but, y’know, in clay. And he’s got form with CGI characters! Sort of! Anyway, it’d be funny.
Frank Grillo as Slade Wilson: Grillo was great as the super-gruff Crossbones in Winter Soldier and Civil War; he was tough but charismatic, and held his own against Captain America. He’s been public about wanting to carry on the role, despite being killed off, so perhaps jumping into DC waters would be cool. He looks the part for Slade, and can do the action stuff, and as the character is meant to be a bit older and more experienced, I think he’d bring a good sense of hard-earned wisdom to the role.
Dave Bautista as Dr. Will Magnus: I definitely think Bautista will pop up in the DCU. I’d like to see him in a role that was less physical; he’s a terrific actor, capable of bringing out humour, tragedy, and pathos. So it’d be good to see him as a scientist; there are plenty to choose from. Magnus is great because I guess he’s essentially a good guy, but also a bit morally dubious, and has a history of both mental health issues and slightly dodgy relationships with some of the robots he builds. So there’s lots there for Bautista to get his teeth into.
Sylvester Stallone as Wildcat: I don’t know what the plans are for the Justice Society, and obviously casting a guy in his seventies isn’t really going to allow you to make a decade’s worth of intense action movies. But Wildcat was a boxer before becoming a crimefighter; he’s tough, he’s a fighter, and (depending on continuity) trained Batman. The Society are usually presented as older anyway, the previous generation of heroes. Do I need to explain why Stallone is perfect for this role?
Benicio del Toro as Sinestro: Sinestro is, basically, a corrupt cop who really breaks bad – I wouldn’t be surprised if he cropped up Lanterns, as he’s really the big Green Lantern bad guy. Rather than making him a moustache-twirling British guy, I think having del Toro bring both a bit of the grit and strength he has in films such as Traffic, as well as the charm and humour he naturally possesses, would really make the character stand out.
Sam Rockwell as Ralph Dibney: I don’t know what their plans are for these characters, and maybe Rockwell’s too old if The Elongated Man is supposed to be a contemporary of a (presumably mid-thirties) Flash. But come on: a light-hearted, wisecracking detective who can also stretch his body? Don’t tell me his wouldn’t be a fantastic role for Rockwell. I’d want him front and centre of every Justic League film, though. Maybe they could also bring across Rachel Weisz as his wife Sue?
Jenny Agutter as Granny Goodness: Agutter has been really underused in the MCU; after Winter Soldier, I was hoping she’d keep popping up as a sort of British version of Nick Fury. So casting her entirely against type as an evil, cruel, vicious general and leader of the Female Furies, working for ultimate big-bad Darkseid, would be really cool. The only downside is Goodness is usually presented as a plus-sized woman, and it’d be a shame to lose some of that representation (Amanda Waller, for instance, has had a significant weight loss in recent years).
Jeff Goldblum as The Riddler: I’ve tried to limit both the number of former Guardians cast members and also the number of specifically Batman-related characters (sorry, Karen Gillan as Poison Ivy). But we’re back in Gotham for this utterly perfect casting. Goldblum is great at three things: appearing smart, projecting hidden darkness, and a wild eccentric charisma. Making the Riddler an older guy looking for a legacy – a would-be genius out to prove he’s smarter than everyone else one last time – would make him really different from both Jim Carrey’s utterly manic turn, and also Paul Dano’s weird serial killer (who, I’m sorry, is great, but is not the Riddler).
Samuel L. Jackson as Darkseid: is this on-the-nose? First base? I was basically thinking about the voice; who has the best voice for this? Well, to be honest, the answer is the sadly departed James Earl Jones, but Jackson also has a fantastic baritone. Also, if he were to appear in a more human guise, I like he image of a taciturn Jackson randomly appearing in someone’s front room to threaten or tempt them. Jackson is excellent at projecting menace, but also great at delivering elaborate soliloquies. And he’s very funny.

“Well how do I sign off on this?”
“Well this is switch’s ideas alone so switch.”

Ironically the pattern is drawings of gold chains but all the actual metal hardware on the purse itself is gun metal black,? It has belt loops and I think I’m gonna give it a real belt and put a ridiculous belt buckle on it. Just because I can 🤪 and of course I’m a hoarder so I have a handful of belt buckles and belts already now the issue is finding them.
I’d like to explain my art and how I do things as much as possible until the inevitable happens. Idk life is a crazy thing and an even weirder thing as an artist. A scarier thing as a starving artist lol. I’m moving at the end of the month so if you want anything from me now is the time to get it.

Here are some tips on how to capture the essence of Burgundy: Focus on the Vineyards One of the most iconic images of Burgundy is its vineyards. The region is home to some of the most famous vineyards in the world, and they make for excellent photography subjects. Try to capture the rows of vines, the changing colors throughout the seasons, and the workers tending to the vines. Explore the Villages Burgundy is home to many charming villages, each with its own unique architecture, history, and culture. From the cobblestone streets of Beaune to the colorful facades of Dijon, there is no shortage of picturesque scenes to capture. Don't be afraid to wander off the beaten path and explore the smaller, lesser-known villages. Capture the Caves and Cellars The wine cellars and caves of Burgundy are as fascinating as they are beautiful. Many of them date back hundreds of years, and they are steeped in history and tradition. They also provide excellent opportunities for unique and atmospheric photography. Include People and Culture Burgundy is not only about wine and scenery; it's also about its people and culture. From the winemakers to the chefs to the artists, there is a rich tapestry of people and traditions to explore and document. Include people in your photographs to give a sense of scale and context and to add depth and meaning to your images. Capturing the essence of Burgundy is all about immersing yourself in its beauty, history, and culture. With the right approach and a keen eye, you can create images that truly capture the spirit of this magical region. Perfecting Your Wine Photography Skills 1. Lighting Good lighting is essential for great wine photographs. Natural light is best, but if you're shooting indoors, use soft lighting to avoid harsh shadows. Position your wine bottle near a window or use a lamp to illuminate your subject. Avoid using direct flash as it can create glare and reflections on the bottle. 2. Background and Composition Choose a simple and uncluttered background to highlight your wine bottle. You can use a white or black background for a classic look. Experiment with different angles and perspectives to create interest in your shot. Play around with the arrangement of your wine glasses, cheese, and fruits to create a visually appealing composition. 3. Props Adding props to your wine photograph can add a touch of personality and style. Use items like wine corks, vintage wine glasses, and wine barrels to create a unique setting. Remember to use props that complement your wine and add to the story you're telling. 4. Editing A little bit of editing can go a long way in enhancing your wine photographs. Use editing software like Lightroom or Photoshop to adjust the brightness, contrast, and color balance of your photos. You can also remove any distracting elements or blemishes in your photograph. 5. Experiment Don't be afraid to experiment with new ideas and techniques. Try shooting from different angles, using different props, or even changing the lighting. The more you practice, the more you'll refine your style and develop your own unique approach to wine photography. Perfecting your wine photography skills takes time and practice, but with these tips, you'll be on your way to creating stunning wine photographs that capture the essence of your favorite wines. Experiment with lighting, composition, and props, and don't forget to have fun along the way. Happy snapping and sipping! Discovering the Beauty in Every Shot When it comes to wine photography in Burgundy, it's not just about taking a picture of a bottle of wine or a vineyard. It's about capturing the essence of what makes the region so special. Every shot has a story to tell, from the history of the vineyards to the unique flavors and aromas of each wine. The Importance of Lighting Lighting is the key to any great photograph, and it's especially important in wine photography. The right lighting can bring out the rich colors of the wine and highlight its unique characteristics. Whether you're shooting indoors or outdoors, it's important to pay attention to the lighting and use it to your advantage. Composition and Perspective Composition and perspective are also important in wine photography. The way you frame your shot can make all the difference. Think about the story you want to tell and use composition and perspective to bring that story to life. Whether you're shooting close up or from a distance, take the time to experiment and find the best angle for your shot. Editing and Post-Processing Once you've captured the perfect shot, it's time to edit and post-process. This is where you can really bring out the beauty of the image and make it stand out. From adjusting the color and contrast to adding filters and effects, there are countless ways to enhance your photos. But be careful not to overdo it – the goal is to enhance the natural beauty of the wine, not to create something that looks artificial. Practice Makes Perfect Like any skill, photography takes practice. Don't be afraid to experiment and try new things. Take lots of photos and review them to see what works and what doesn't. INTERVIEW: (a little questionnaire I did as part of this project)
How is printmaking similar or different from other kinds of art?
It is similar because it involves drawing. You have to be precise and purposeful when placing prints. It reminded me of when I drew a Picasso drawing upside-down (in a drawing on the right side of the brain class), having to think of just the shapes and about how I'd do each line so it would look good reversed on the paper and then carved away. There was layering and sculpting with the carver like with clay.
Describe the design of your print. How did you combine shape with pattern and texture?
My print is something from my favourite anime. I made the kanji the central feature of the print on purpose. I thought they'd be fun to draw and carve and I thought ink would portray the inked calligraphy style very well. I think it did in the end because no one's handwriting is perfect the imperfections only make it look more realistic.
What was the drawing/carving challenge with your selection? What carving tools did you use to make your print? What types of marks did they help you achieve?
The drawing was a challenge. I knew I had to make it so the kanji would read correctly when reversed, but first, I had to find a way to draw it. I don't speak and can't read any Japanese, so I knew I'd have to trace. I used my fleece jacket over my head and my computer to create a space dark enough in the studio to trace from my computer. (It would have been funnier to turn the lights out on everyone, but I'm too nice for that 👉🏽👈🏽 and there are big windows. Stupid sun! J.K., ILY❤️) I think I must have looked funny.
After tracing the basic shapes, I sketched it out further with a sharp pencil to get the "drawn" effect and make it look more like a swooping brush stroke than a precise pencil tracing. But I had to redo it because I traced the characters in reverse not realising it would be enough to do them normally, then "reverse" them onto my linoleum block.
So for that, I simply went to the window, turned the paper over and retraced the kanji onto the black side so they were the right orientation for me to trace onto the block. It made my project take a lot more time than I wanted, which put me a bit behind. That is why I decided to add the red detailing by hand.
For me, the carving wasn't about creating a texture so much as a means to an end. I didn't want any strokes to show, just remove the linoleum from certain parts, but the lines around the characters did help define them.
What colours did you choose for your print? Why? What effect do your colour choices have on how someone might interpret your art?
I chose dark green and black. Originally, I planned to add red to that, but it was taking longer than I wanted, and the lines will be easily enough done by hand after I've met the two-colour minimum requirement.
I chose these colours to match the design I'm following. To be honest, I hadn't thought at all what other people might think. The colours are kind of dark, maybe people will think it's something deep and meaningful lol. I suppose Ideals are meaningful, but it is an anime prop after all, so, not a statement piece.
Describe the importance of registration in a multi-layered print.
Registration is important if you want your design to come through clearly. It keeps the art looking neat and polished. I think you could certainly use the "messiness" as a sort of texture, maybe to make something look "trippy" but for me, cleanliness was important. (Kunikida is a very neat character.) The placement of the characters did give me some breathing room because it was supposed to look hand-done, but because I had black underneath most of them, I needed to be sure the green covered all of it.
Registration is why I switched to using a smaller brayer (originally I was using a really long one to cover the whole thing easily) and started inking only the kanji so that I wouldn't have to worry as much about registration and covering the black underneath.
What do you like about your print?
I love how it looks like it was actually done with ink and brush. Also, drawing the kanji was a fun challenge. I was so sad when I had to carve them off! (T-T)
How did you improve during the process? What could make your prints better? Are they all identical or not? (i.e. If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?)
I definitely got more efficient as I learnt how much ink to use and how often to clean the block and add fresh ink. Also as I said above I found "short-cut" techniques for registration.
I did accidentally carve a bit into the "frame" and one of the characters, so next time I'd be even more careful about that (mostly, I was busy trying not to IMPALE myself). The character was fixable, but the frame was not. It's small but noticeable. In hindsight, I would definitely start by inking only the kanji, so I could avoid having to cover the black which would also help to disguise any non-sever alignment mishaps (the kind I had).
The prints are not identical, sadly. None of the alignment was too horrid, but one or two are noticeably off with the black under-ink still clearly visible around the edges. I need a better way to line up the paper with the inked block, some sort of wooden jig or frame maybe. If I did this again I would probably build one from plywood.
Describe a moment during the printmaking unit when you felt like everything clicked and this process started to make sense.
It definitely clicked late in the first stage of inking (ahh, why couldn't it have been sooner!?) when I had the idea to stop inking the whole thing and only the kanji. But everything did get clearer after I saw the first finished one with the green. I'm still happy with how they turned out as a collective, even though some are imperfect.
IDEALS Notebook Reductive Linoleum Print (Part 1)
STAGE ONE: I sketched the design into the block, including red binding and the characters for IDEALS (Risō). They're backwards so that when I place the block on the paper they read correctly.
