Dally and Steve are both violent dogs but where as, for Dally, violence has been heavily engrained into his mind, making his first instinct to bite, to attack, to hurt, because violence is survival to him, it’s life, violence is all he knows, Steve is just a fucking bitch.

Show me Your Body Area Network
ST held its Developers Conference on October 4 in Santa Clara, California. In anticipation of this event, we published a series of blog posts to preview some of the sessions’ topics and introduce the engineers, managers or experts that made this day special.
Sensors are moving from external devices to the body. We’ve gone from the Six Million Dollar Man to the common folk with a smart watch, fitness tracker, smart wristband, GPS on his wrist, barometer in his pocket, heart monitor on his sleeve, and this is only the beginning. Researchers are working on a continuous blood pressure monitor, and a Lab-on-a-Chip that will enable anyone to carry a continuous glucose monitoring sensor, among many other things. The human body is the New Continent and we are all pilgrims. However, for the data collected to be usable, devices must be able to work together.
For instance, in the case of body motion tracking, the synchronicity of the sampling and streaming activities is essential to ensure the quality and usability of the data. In other words to determine if a body is running, jumping, falling, etc. all the sensors must pull data at precise times and intervals to track all the aspects of the body simultaneously and appropriately. If sensors on the leg capture data at one point in time and those on the arms pull data at a completely different moment, models will no longer work and the system won’t have an accurate picture of what is happening.
Problems of Body Area Network
Hence comes Andrea Vitali to the rescue. He’s an Advanced Research Manager at ST’s Internet of Things Excellence Center. As a system architect, he and his team design prototypes based on clients’ requirements and specification, collaborating with them to deliver the result they expect and more. This has led him to work on SensorTile, the development kit that packs a tremendous number of sensors in a 13.5 mm x 13.5 mm board. As a result, he’s at the forefront of the revolution happening in the field of Body Area Network.
As the name implies, the Body Area Network (BAN) refers to the intercommunication of the plethora of sensors worn, attached on or even inserted in the body. From simple accelerometers, gyroscopes, barometers, and digital microphones, to much more complex sensors, this network of wearable devices faces very difficult technological challenges. Indeed, BAN clients often come from different manufacturers and function very differently, yet they must all gather data at the same time or use accurate timestamps to enable the alignment of the information. It’s the only way for the system to know exactly what the entire body was doing at an exact moment in time. Today, Bluetooth Low Energy is the network of choice for these devices, but the standard was never designed for this.
Solutions for Your Body Area Network
To overcome this challenge, Andrea and his team have developed different solutions that he will present in his talk entitled Body Area Network and sensor synchronization. With the help of demos, executables, and documentation available to the attendees, he will show how developers can master the complexities of these devices to quickly and safely achieve project goals.
Andrea will show how one can use Bluetooth Low Energy features, like broadcasting or receiving a trigger signal, to ensure the gathering and streaming of data in unison. He will also demonstrate that it is possible to use the hardware and firmware to timestamp events to enable a realignment of the data at the post-processing level, circumventing some of the protocol’s limitations.
Hence, anyone involved in designing a system using those types of sensors will have hands-on practical examples to immediately see the result of certain practices or codes. Whether you are aiming to mass produce a device in the millions of units or simply launch your crowdfunding campaign, mastering the Body Area Network is the key to transforming a design from great to truly remarkable by ensuring fast and reliable communication with other sensors and the host system.
To Be Ready
The talk will serve as an introduction to key concepts such as synchronization and Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity. Andrea will therefore guide the attendees through the different notions and solutions. Hence, low-level knowledge of the subject matter is not necessary to enjoy this session. However, to make the most of it, we recommend being familiar with SensorTile and ST’s reference design for wearable sensors, the STEVAL-WESU1.

STMicroelectronics transmitter and receiver evaluation boards accelerate Qi wireless charger development
Tumblr media
【Lansheng Technology News】On December 6, 2023, STMicroelectronics launched a wireless charging transmitter and receiver evaluation board based on STWLC38 and STWBC86 chips to simplify the development of 15W Qi wireless chargers.
The STEVAL-WLC38RX board is equipped with the STWLC38 5W/15W receiver chip, and the STEVAL-WBC86TX board is equipped with the STWBC86 5W transmitter chip, which helps developers quickly develop and test wireless charger prototypes. Both boards support the STSW-WPSTUDIO graphics software environment to assist in charger development.
STWLC38 receiver chip supports Qi 1.3 Extended Power Profile (EPP) 15W charging protocol and Baseline Power Profile (BPP) 5W charging protocol. Therefore, this receiver chip can also be used as a 5W transmitter in a wireless charger and has a reverse power transmission function to charge the device. This chip integrates a synchronous rectifier and a low dropout (LDO) linear regulator, which can convert the power of the receiving coil into an adjustable DC output voltage of 4V-12V, with a power transmission efficiency of 85%. STMicroelectronics' Adaptive Rectifier Configuration (ARC) mode maximizes the effective charging area, extends the typical detection range of the receiver by 50%, and increases the freedom of device spatial positioning for the most efficient power transfer.
This 5W transmitter chip STWBC86 that complies with the Qi 1.2.4 BPP protocol integrates a high-energy-efficiency, low-impedance full-bridge inverter and driver to ensure that the receiver chip has very low power dissipation and minimizes the bill of materials cost. By adjusting the applied PWM frequency and duty cycle, the chip is able to control the power delivered by the transmitter coil.
Both chips support wide-voltage inputs, simplifying integration with consumer and industrial products. Each chip uses an ArmÂŽ CortexÂŽ-M0+ digital core to dynamically manage charging power for optimal energy efficiency. On-chip integrated non-volatile memory (NVM) can host advanced functions and upgrade charging protocols through firmware updates.
Both chips come in tiny chip-scale packages, making them suitable for very compact applications. The STWLC38 wireless charging receiver chip comes in a 2.12mm x 3.32mm WLCSP40 package, while the STWBC86 transmitter comes in a 3.26mm x 3.67mm WLCSP72 package. Both chips have built-in thermal management and electrical protection features.
Both evaluation boards accelerate the development of transmitter and receiver chip-based solutions for a variety of consumer, medical and industrial applications including smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, wearables, personal medical devices, Drug delivery devices, portable ultrasound equipment, toothbrushes, razors, computer peripherals, hearing aids, charging cases, power tools and mobile robots.

It was two months after Johnny had died. Dally had started to spend more time at the DX with Steve and Soda. Steve dropped out to work full time to help pay for the funeral. Dal would hang out with Pony or Two but it just wasn’t the same without Johnny. So Steve and Soda were the next best thing.
Plus Dal felt himself starting to relate to Steve more and more. Both their anger and hatred and anger stemming from their fathers, neither wanting to talk about it. They never talked about that stuff.
“Hey Dal Soda greeted from the register, tossing Dally a Pepsi from the cooler.
“Heya Soda” Dal replied, opening the drink.
Him and Soda didn’t talk much. Not cause it was awkward, just cause he was always messing around with Steve. It made Dally miss Johnny. Maybe that’s why he came by now, he thought to himself.
“Where’s Steve?” Dally asked, taking another sip of the drink, leaning against a car.
“Check out back. He should be working on an engine back there” Soda shrugged, Dally could tell he was bored.
Dally nodded a thank you and headed out yne DX’s front door, walking around the back until he could see Steve, sweaty and hunched over the hood of a car.
He must have heard Dally approach because he looked up, a small smile pushing onto his face.
“Dallas Winston? Is that you?” Steve said in fake shock.
“Watch your mouth Randle” Dally threatened, lighting up a smoke and offering one to Steve.
“What brings ya here?” Steve asked, taking a puff from the cigarette.
“What do you think” Dally answered tonelessly, leaning against the car with Steve.
“Where’s Tim?”
“Fuck Tim” Dally snarled, a silence falling between the two of them. It was often they would sit in silence together, neither of much were much for deep conversations.
“Who’s car is this?” Dally asked, noticing the mustang they were resting on.
“Randy’s” Steve smirked evilly.
“Oh hell yeah” Dally chuckled almost as evilly “am
I allowed to fuck with it?”
“Just don't get me fired” Steve laughed “I already spit on his steering wheel.”
Dally put out his cigarette on the ground and circled the car knowingly.
“I don’t know what to do” Dally chuckled with a frustrated sigh. He didn’t have any ideas that wouldn’t get Steve fired on the spot.
“I got an idea” Steve smiled, walking closer to Dally.
“Yea?” Dally asked, suspiciously eyeing Steve up and down.
“Let me kiss ya up against the car” Steve shrugged nonchalantly.
Dally's eyes went wide and the thought of slugging Steve right in the face crossed his mind.
“Jesus relax I was kidding” Steve joked, doubling over in laughter, clutching his sides “you looked about ready to hit me!”
“I was gonna” Dally laughed, shaking his head.
“Why didn’t ya?” Steve teased, managing to stand up.
“Didn’t I what?”
“Hit me.”
“I can hit ya now” Dally threatened with a slight drop of humor in his words.
“You can try” Steve retorted, raising a brow.
Suddenly Steve felt himself tackled to the ground behind the car with a thud and pinning his hands to his sides.
Steve managed to kick Dally off and the two continued to wrestle in the dust until they heard footsteps.
“Shh shh” Steve whispered, taking his hands off Dally’s sides but continued to keep him pinned.
They heard Soda walking around probably looking for Steve.
“Steve? What was all that noise” Soda called “Steve?”
Steve rolled his eyes as the two of them waited uncomfortably for Soda to retreat back to the DX. After what felt like an hour they finally heard the sound of Soda walking away.
Neither of them knew why they didn't wanna be found so bad.
Steve returned his eyes to Dally, who looked less than impressed.
“Gee now you look like you’re gonna kiss me real hard” Steve laughed, finally rolling off of Dally.
“You kiss me you get decked” Dally snorted sitting up.
“Yeah?” Steve asked. But before Dally could answer he felt Steve’s lips harshly in his, pulling him in close and tight to the sudden kiss.
Steve pulled away before giving Dally a chance to kiss back, a wicked smirk on his face again.
“Ya gonna deck me now?” he asked, looking from Dally’s lips to his eyes.
“After” was all Dally said before crashing his lips against Steve’s again.

STMicroelectronics Introduces Innovative Infrared Sensor to Improve Presence and Movement Detection in Building Automation
Tumblr media
【Lansheng Technology Information】On July 31, 2023, STMicroelectronics released a new human presence and movement detection chip, which can improve the performance of security monitoring systems, home automation equipment and Internet of Things devices that traditionally use passive infrared (PIR) sensing technology. Monitor performance.
Traditional PIR sensors can only produce a measurable response signal when the detected object moves. The STHS34PF80 sensor has a built-in thermal transistor, so it can detect stationary objects. In addition, PIR sensors need Fresnel lenses to sense moving objects, while STMicroelectronics' new detector uses a simpler lensless structure.
Simone Ferri, General Manager of STMicroelectronics' AMS MEMS Sub-Product Division, said: "Today's smart homes, smart buildings and the Internet of Things require accurate presence detection functions to improve the control capabilities of lighting, heating, security, security monitoring and other systems, creating A sustainable future. ST's new STHS34PF80 is an affordable, ultra-low-power sensor that ensures consistent, uninterrupted operation of building automation systems, regardless of whether a detected person is moving within the building. In addition, this new product innovatively integrates CMOS chip manufacturing process, silicon micromachining technology and low-voltage circuit design capabilities."
The STHS34PF80 embeds intelligent algorithms for human presence and movement detection, targeting applications such as alarm security systems, home automation, smart lighting, IoT devices, smart lockers, and smart video intercom systems. The four-meter detection distance without lens and the 80° field of view can cover most of the area in front of the sensor. The working current is 10¾A, the power consumption is lower than that of traditional PIR, and it is packaged in 3.2mm x 4.2mm x 1.455mm. It has a compact structure and is suitable for high-speed assembly in automated production lines. The sensor is highly resistant to direct light interference and electromagnetic interference (EMI).
The sensor evaluation board STEVAL-MKI231KA provided by ST can help users simplify the test development process of STHS34PF80. Developers simply plug the daughterboard into an X-NUCLEO-IKS01A3 or STEVAL-MKI109V3 mainboard to configure the infrared sensor using STMicroelectronics' Unico-GUI graphical interface software to begin a simplified measurement process . Drivers for the STHS34PF80 can be found on GitHub. Additionally, there is a ready-made software library in the X-CUBE-MEMS1 software package for compensation, detection of human or object presence. Users can quickly run simple applications first, measure with STHS34PF80, test the results, and then start creating a new application.
