Now that I've tried out all of the different roles in ffxiv I want to share my favs and my thoughts on them

First of all, red mage my beloved. For a long time I was content with just watching a playthrough of the game bc an mmo would eat my time. then I watched a guide for the red mage and instantly knew I had to play this job. I love red mage and the joint caster/melee playstyle. I don't have verraise yet though and I feel bad every time the healer wipes

I'm definitely best at dps and I like caster a lot and melee not so much. I started out as arcanist and summoner is my next fav caster after red mage. I switched to thaumaturge halfway through the arr msq specifically for the Heartless staff but haven't touched black mage since I finished arr. the cast times are just too long for me to truly enjoy the job but I do like the fire/ice switching

The only melee dps I've played so far is dragoon which is . . . fine. I wish i liked dragoon more bc I love FF4/Kain Highwind and I want to see Estinien's storyline. but playing the job in ffxiv isn't as fun for me as other jobs. I feel like I should try another melee since I do like the melee aspects of tank and red mage. maybe samurai bc sword

speaking of tank, I just started the dark knight quests and love it a lot. I'm still nervous about tanking in dungeons but that means I just need to do it more for practice. I tried marauder but haven't even upgraded it to warrior yet but I have dark knight now

As for healer I'm very surprised at how much I enjoy this role. I only tried it bc scholar came free with arcanist and wanted to at least give it a shot. I still don't quite understand the best healing optimization and fairy placement but I haven't had a party wipe! (I have accidentally let the dps die bc of my laser focus on keeping the tank alive 😅)

And I just realized I haven't done any physical ranged dps jobs yet oops. I'll probably do machinist rather than archer/bard bc I'm tired of starting at level one. And I want a gun
