blue moths??

this is actually very interesting because there isn't really a lot of information on blue moths.

the oriental blue clearwing moth was thought to be a lost species for 130 years before it was rediscovered in 2017! it was originally found in 1887, and the specimen was preserved in a glass case in a museum in Austria!

it's one of many species that has mimicked other creatures as it has evolved! they usually take on the look of bees or wasps.

OKAY SO this entire headcanon is based solely off of update order

so, obviously, the End was added before birds/parrots were. essentially, there was a civilisation that existed before birds did. they managed to get to the End, but upon arrival, they found out they were stuck. so, as a means of transport around the dimension, they invented their own wings using what few materials they had left, along with some endstone. their only reference was the Ender Dragon herself, so all elytras look like bat wings by default.

of course, they can be modified with the right materials (those materials being phantom membranes) to look however you want. the only thing that matters is the base of the elytra itself and the frames, which has all the redstone and connective bits. so they can look like bird or bug wings, but by default they are similar to bat wings
