Back at the Kang house the next night, Cam’s mom and dad got ready to go out on a date. Paenji came downstairs wearing a nice ruffly dark brown dress and some fancy makeup* and jewelry and hugged Cam. “You look so pretty, Umma.” Cam said. “Thanks nooboo.” Paenji said, and she kissed Cam on the cheek. “Yeah, you look good P.” Iseul said, grinning at her sister-in-law. “Thanks.” Paenji said. “Would you mind looking after her?” She asked. “I don’t mind, I’ll watch Cammy.” Iseul answered her sister-in-law. Paenji grinned. “I meant Cam should keep an eye on you.” She joked. “Shut up.” Iseul said, but she laughed too along with Paenji and Cam.

“Also ma, I’m 17.” Cam reminded her mom. I don’t need to be watched or babysat.” Paenji smiled. “I know, Cammy.” She patted Cam’s cheek. “You’re growing up so fast. It seems like it was just yesterday when Min Jun and I brought you home from the hospital. Cece was 10 and so excited to have a baby sister, and even Iseul held you despite saying she was was scared she’d drop you.” She said fondly as Iseul grinned. “I remember that day too, you made a ‘who the heck is this?’ face at me and then made cooing noises and almost smiled.” Iseul added, smiling at Cam. Cam smiled too. “I knew you were cheesy from day one.” She joked, and Iseul laughed. “It’s funny, Is, because you don’t want kids which I totally understand, but your side of the family’s genes are so strong that Cammy and Cece look the most like you, except they have my eye color and nose.” Paenji said. Iseul grinned. “They really do.” She said, smiling at her niece.

Cam smiled to herself. "I wonder if my kids will look more like Pipes or me or both. Not that'd I care who they looked like but it would be so cute if they had Piper’s curly hair and eyes and my nose and smile." She admitted out loud. Her auntie Iseul's eyes widened and her mom raised her brows. "What?" She asked. Cam hastily added. "We're not pregnant, I mean in the future." Her mom shook her head, smiling. "You took a year off my lifespan, Cammy." She joked. "But that's great, nooboo. I remember you telling me you weren't sure about kids but with Piper you seem more sure." Cam smiled. "Yeah, I can imagine that with her, when we're in our late twenties." Paenji smiled. "Don't make me wait too long to be a grandma, though." She joked, and Cam groaned playfully. "But jokes aside, that's great Cammy. I'm glad you see that with Piper. Your dad was the same, you know, he told me after our first date he was already imagining how our kids would be like, and our wedding and where we'd live." She said. "You clearly get his sappiness." Iseul added teasingly, and Cam made a playful face at her before grinning.
