Amara sat back in her chair, fingers wrapped around her second coffee of the morning as she let out a slow breath. Morning Glory had become her go-to spot for moments like this; when she had a packed schedule ahead and needed at least ten minutes to pretend she wasn’t drowning in responsibilities. The garden seating, the soft hum of conversation, the scent of freshly brewed coffee mixed with hints of vanilla and cinnamon from their house-made syrups, it was the perfect place to catch her breath before making a series of calls she’d been putting off all morning. She took another sip, savoring the warmth before glancing up, and spotting a familiar face.

A smile immediately tugged at her lips as she lifted a hand in greeting. This time he didn't have the little one with him, and rightfully so, it was a cold morning. Then, remembering, she shifted seamlessly into signing, Good morning. Her fingers moved with care, a little slower than they probably should have, but she hoped the effort counted for something. Moving back in with your mother in your thirties wasn't ideal. However after the divorce Seleste was left with nothing so here she was. What was even less ideal than that was sharing said space with your mothers friend and her son, who you couldn't stand. Seleste sighed as she walked into the kitchen, hair still up in a towel from her shower. She grabbed the bread out of the cabinet, empty of course it was. She reached for the coffee maker, all the coffee was already drank. She turned to the fridge, grabbing out the empty jug of milk "My god is there anything that you don't eat?" She questioned turning to look at the figure sitting at the table "You know it's common curtesy to replace the things that you finish." she scuffed.

There was the fear, for the faintest second, that Mason would push her away. The thought of being rejected by him was more painful than anything else and it was part of the reason why they were stuck in this cycle, why she kept doing that to them. When he put his hands on her hips, it was like her skin was burning beneath them and she ached for more, but only from him. They had kissed thousand of times and even more than that but it never felt old. And it always left her wanting more. Val knew he felt the same, knew how hard it would be for him to pull away once they started and maybe it was a cheap shot of her to kiss him in the middle of this argument but it was all she had. She wanted Mason back and if her words weren't convinced him, maybe this would do it. When he gave in and kissed her back, really back, she pressed herself hard against him, enjoying how his fingers dug into her skin, as if she was his possession and he didn't want her to slip away. A soft whine escaped her when he pulled back, even if slightly. "I know," she said breathily, her hands moving under his shirt. "Not everything but maybe how angry you're at me right now?" Her tone was teasing but deep down, she was scared that he had meant it when he said he was done doing this. "Kiss me again," she whispered against his lips. She just had a taste of him, of everything she had been missing and needing and she didn't want it to stop. Val needed to feel him want her, to have that reassurance.

As she stepped back she felt herself bump into another solid body. Not entirely aware of her surroundings in the crowded party atmosphere. "Oh!" She spun on her heels to look up at the man she'd unintentionally fumbled into. "Shit, sorry I—" The words halted in her throat as umber eyes settled fully on the faux blue fur-clad individual stood before her. Another laugh tumbled into the night air. "Oh, I love this." Nia beamed brightly at Mason and quickly tacked on, "right! Apologizing. I was paying no attention before. You good?" She doubted her backing into the man would've done much besides maybe curse him with a bit of glitter transfer, but she asked anyway.
