how do strangers perceive you?
lightning never strikes the same place twice
midnight phone calls. original art hanging on the wall. indie music. the color blue and the feeling of knowing someone your whole life. you have a striking appearance. your best feature is probably your eyes. you're a rare soul, hard to figure out and impossible to forget. you probably don't speak often, but each word carries weight somehow. even when you're joking, you're revealing a tiny piece of you. you want to be loved so badly. you don't know that you already are.

How does it feel to be loved by you?
it feels like burning
everything about you is captivating. you're very intense, and passionate, and some people can't handle that. but no one loves as powerfully as you do, and some people will love that about you. you're easily excited, and tend to feel things very deeply. your emotions are unpredictable. but you are so so beautiful. more so than you know.

St. Bernedine's School For Girls character masterlist
Odile Peters - she/her. 16. lesbian. Odile is a tomboyish gearhead from Motor City, exiled to St. Bernedine's for her safety after being caught in a gunfight between the city's feuding families.
Odile wanted to go to Blackwood instead, but her mother was adamant St. Bernedine's would be good for her (famous last words). Fc: Kiana Madeira.
Angelica Monét - she/her. 16. Angelica is a bubbly girl with her head in the clouds. Her family thought St. Bernedine's would help her become more serious and disciplined, which is a total drag, but it's free, so she gets it.
Bernadette Rousseau - she/her. 16. Bernadette is a distant relative and namesake of Saint Bernedine. So there's sort of this weird pressure on her by her mother to be like Saint Bernedine (teacher devoted to her students), but nobody ever considers the part where Bernedine was killed saving her students, and never intended to become a martyr at all.
Marianne - she/her. 16. A wan, depressed girl who prefers to wander through the library or the underground cemetery with her sketchbook than interact with most people. She is the daughter of a rich family who exiled her to St. Bernedine's because they didn't want to deal with her problems.
Francine Richard - she/her. 16. Francine is an honor student determined not to let St. Bernedine's less than stellar reputation drag her down. She plans to move away from Vietta City as soon as she graduates and study to become a doctor (?).
Starla Wilkins - she/her. 17. lesbian. Fellow Motor City transplant. Starla was sent away by her family for troublemaking. She would've rather went to live with her grandfather, but c'est la vie, as they say. She has a strange pet spider named Chrome.
Odette Peters - she/her. 14. Odile's younger sister.
Margot Fontaine - she/her. 16. Margot is the troubled daughter of Ms. Darlington, born out of wedlock. Margot puts on an air of polished sophistication to hide her violent nature. Fc: young Olivia Hussey or young Isabelle Adjani.
Ms. Darlington - she/her. 40s. Ms. Darlington is the charismatic latin and history teacher that students and teachers alike swoon over. But behind her charming and colorful facade lies a darkness that is all consuming.
Ms. Sharpe - she/her. 30s. Ms. Sharpe teaches theater and literature. She has a stern, melancholy air that never left after the death of her wife. Due to her manner and appearance the girls at St. Bernedine's are mistrustful and reluctant to confide in her, especially after the disappearances begin. Fc: Jessica Chastain.
Mr. Herrera - he/him. 30s. The only male teacher at St. Bernedine's, Mr. Herrera teaches athletics and health.

Lilian Whittaker
Name: Lilian Grace “Lily” Whittaker
Date of birth: May 10th, 1991
Age: 30
Gender/Pronouns: Cis woman, she/her
Occupation: Marketing & Events Manager at White Woods Winery
Hometown: King’s Head Harbor. Rhode Island
Length of time in King’s Head Harbor: 18 years originally; returned 4 years ago
Neighborhood: Sandport Village
Faceclaim: Adelaide Kane
BIOGRAPHY (Trigger Warning: Car accident, Death, Depression )
For a family with a reputation and lineage as the Whittakers, crafting a dynasty was important. The family has a reputation for being matriarchal, with Elise Whittaker’s husband Ian taking her last name when they married. The women were held in the same regard as their male relatives, ensuring that they were all on an equal playing field where gender roles were concerned. By the time their daughter Lilian Grace came along, named after both of her grandmothers, Ian and Elise already had the perfect heir in the form of their son Brendan, and the addition of Isabelle a couple years later completed the trifecta. The Whittaker siblings did not necessarily grow up in competition, but their skills and personalities rather complemented one another’s in a way that made their parents think that the future generation was equipped to carry on the legacy. And while Brendan and Isabelle were the ideal candidates, Lily often felt as though she was meant for something else.
Middle child syndrome was not just a combination of buzzwords, it was actually what Lily’s life was like growing up. While her siblings shone in their own rights, she was more soft-spoken and demure in nature and always far more good-hearted than you would’ve expected her to have been - especially considering her cutthroat parents. In spite of her kindness and desire to help others, her privilege was also incredibly apparent as she romanticized the world around her, which was easy to do from within the confines of her family’s cushy oceanside manor in Winter Pearl Bay. Romantic, naive, and kind to a fault; she was very much like a Disney princess in the movies she’d grown up watching. Unlike the other residents of her affluent community, Lily was always compassionate to even those outside of her social circle, stopping to give people money on the street and sharing her snacks with other children. She was easy to take advantage of though, with her overly trusting nature and desire to please everyone. But if everyone else was happy, she should be too.
It was no question that once Lily graduated from Kingston, she would attend a prestigious school on the east coast like her parents and brother did - they had both met while at Harvard, getting their bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Ivy League institution, and Brendan was all too happy to follow in their footsteps. But as the middle child, Lily had a lot more freedom to choose her own path of study, and it surprised no one that she chose Columbia University to get the best of both worlds - living in New York City with the opportunity to spend time in Paris eventually. Pursuing a degree in French was more than something she did simply because she loved it; there was no question that being fluent in a second language would be beneficial to her career as an eventual businesswoman. After all, the plan was that she would take a leadership position at the family company. But being away from home and experiencing the freedom that came with living in both American and European cities, Lily reconsidered the plan that she thought had been laid out for her since she was a young girl and delayed her return to Rhode Island.
Event planning seemed to be something that piqued Lily’s interest from her freshman year, when she would be at the helm when it came to organizing sorority events or even house parties with her friends. An internship with a prominent wedding planner in New York confirmed that it was what she wanted to do, and even though she experimented with the corporate world and even toyed with the idea of relocating to Europe permanently after a year studying in Paris, she ended up being a full-time wedding planner in New York after graduating from Columbia. Was it really a surprise that the romantic and idyllic Lily had a special knack for wedding planning? She often dreamed of what her own big day would be like one day and to whom she’d be married, but until then she was happy helping other couples finish their love stories in the best way possible. She dated around during her time in both New York and Paris, but no relationship really stuck long enough to give a name to the love interest in the romance novel of her life and every date was reduced to a mere side character. It didn’t seem to dampen her spirit or discourage her from dreaming, she simply saw it as a sign that other things should be her focus for the time being.
Brendan’s incessant questions as to when she was joining the family back in Rhode Island began to annoy Lily. Along with the perks of being the firstborn came the responsibility, something that she was free of. She could spend her time in New York at the event planning firm she’d been working at, enjoying herself and the freedom that came with being the spare to the heir - until one tragic accident changed the line of succession. The Crown Prince was no longer, and the Whittakers crowned his heir without her desire to accept the succession. The guilt of returning to the career and life she loved in New York was too much, so Lily returned only to put in her notice at work and pack the things in her Upper East Side brownstone and traded it for the Whittaker guest house on the family’s estate back in King’s Head Harbor. The family maintained a strong front, but with the loss of Brendan they were crumbling behind closed doors. The sadness was unbearable for Lily at first, and although she worked through it to the best of her ability it still creeps up from time to time. Her parents let it get the better of them though, with Ian’s relationship with his elder daughter becoming increasingly volatile over the years while Elise projected onto her.
It has been four years since Lily’s return to King’s Head Harbor, and she and her family had eventually reached a compromise: she could continue event planning as the Marketing & Events Manager at White Woods Winery, a passion project that the Whittakers co-owned with the Blackwoods. Things had begun to improve until Lily began dating a man her family had not approved of in 2020. An elaborate plan to frame him for theft resulted in Lily cutting her parents off after reaching a settlement where she and her boyfriend would not speak of the incident as long as all charges were dropped, and she moved out into a starter home she had purchased in Sandport Village. Unfortunately, the romance didn’t last and the couple was far too different to make anything work between them. Since the breakup, Lily has been focusing on herself and getting her life back on track, maybe even giving her parents a second chance at being a family again.

MEET…
Isabel Usmani
Age: 33
Birthday: October 23, 1988
Gender/Pronouns: Cis Female, she/her
Hometown: Salem, MA
Length of time in Salem: 8 years
Occupation: Developer at Blackwood Industries
Faceclaim: Zoe Kravitz
HER STORY
tw: car accident, child death
The Moore’s view of the American Dream existed outside of America. The couple bonded over a desire to see the whole world, while their parents worked hard to create a livelihood settled in an all American town – Salem, Massachusetts. They grew up together, they went to school together, they fell in love and stayed in their home town just long enough to get married and have their daughter Isabel. Much to their parents dismay, they began their life on the road, daughter in tow. Mr. Marco Moore was a nature photographer, working hand and hand frequently with Time Magazine, while Mrs. Marie Moore worked as a journalist, writing about world affairs.
Marco parents lived a much more traditional life, going into real estate and becoming developers for properties. Maria’s father worked in politics. They both were respectable, and successful families. Neither understood their children’s desire to be artists.
Isabel grew up never having much of a real home. She learned about many cultures, often times being immersed in them for months at a time while her parents worked on projects. Her father dragged her along hikes up a mountain at the crack of dawn, pitching up at a spot for hours to catch a picture of a mountain lion. Her mother brought her along to talk to locals as she interviewed them for pieces about war or nature crises. Isabel learned bits and pieces of different languages along the way. They’d implement new traditions they fell in loved with. She always found it hard to say goodbye, no matter how long they stayed. Isabel fell deeply in love with the people she spent time with. Parting always felt more sorrow than sweet.
Every other year, her parents tried their best to return home to Salem to spend certain holidays with their family. Everything about the town, about the way her family lived, felt so special to Isabel. She liked the white picket fences and the silly town traditions. She liked the spooky back story and the tours that seemed to make every little corner of the town special. She saw how her cousins had friends, friends they knew forever, friends they grew up with. By her uncle’s house, a little blue house sat on the corner, with orange colored trees in the fall and little yellow flowers in the spring. The snow sat perfectly along with roof in the winter time. Every time she passed the little blue house, she pictured living there with a family of her own, but sometimes she wondered if she’d ever be anywhere long enough to fall in love. Isabel loved Salem in a different way. Leaving there always felt like her hardest goodbye. She’d find herself wishing for their next visit before they even left.
Her parents always prioritized Isabel’s education, making sure their work never overshadowed the time to homeschool her. They were supportive in whatever she wanted to do when she grew up, but they were pretty insistent that she went to college. Isabel agreed. She liked the idea, especially since it felt like her first excuse to be settled for a while. Though, unlike her parents, Isabel never felt like she had much of a calling. She felt passionate about people and their stories, but she wasn’t a talented writer like her mom. She appreciated art the way her father did, but she didn’t like taking photos very much. Her parents ensure her, she’d find what she wanted. College would help. Where felt like a no brainer.
At 18, Isabel moved to Boston to attend Boston College, only a short ways away from the town she loved most, but still something new. She decided to try everything. She ventured out, taking classes in subjects she never even thought of. A lot of her time, Isabel spent in the library studying for the random course she signed up for that quarter – whether that was Philosophy or Improv or Chemistry. Very quickly she learned what she was drawn to and what didn’t interest her. She found business interesting. She graduated top of her class in the subject.
Everything else ceased to exist the minute she met Haz. A moment on the streets of Boston after a series of bad days she experience kindness from a stranger. Her books laid all over the sidewalk. Her shir stained with coffee. A gentle voice offered a hand. Hanna couldn’t help herself. The question left her lips, as the misfortune that landed her here flew from her mind completely. “Thanks. Do you want to take me on a date tonight?”
She finally had time to take however long she wanted to fall in love, but with Haz she fell instantly. Isabel felt as if she’d move anywhere with him, do anything to make his dreams come true. He knew of her desire to move to Salem, to live in a little house. The way they fit made everything make sense. Isabel decided she wouldn’t pursue a career, because of their shared desire for a family. They moved to Salem, into the little blue house. They got married. They had a baby. The rest was supposed to be happily ever after.
Isabel still recalled the sound of the phone ringing that day. She asked Haz to pick up their son because she got caught up buying decorations for a surprise party she wanted to through her husband. His birthday was still a couple of weeks away, but she wanted to do something big. Isabel almost didn’t answer the call from the unknown number. The news on the other end left her life complete changed. They got into a crash on the way home. Their son died. Haz in the hospital.
Isabel didn’t know how to process it at all. She cut herself off from mostly everyone. Her parents moved back to town to help, but she’s barely seen them. One day, a month ago, Isabel decided she’d go to work, she’d try to find a job. She needed something to do, because sitting at home with the empty room still decorated for her son was driving her mad. With the help of her grandparents, finding a job – a good high profile job, wasn’t hard. Throwing herself into work, seems to keep her sane for now.
PERSONALITY
+ nurturing, adventurous, outgoing
- reserved, brooding, obstinate

BASIC INFO;;
Name: Hazel Blackwood Age: 24 District: Three Birthday: January 14 Occupation: Lab Assistant / Student FC: Alexandra Chando Parents: Isabelle + Forrest Blackwood
BIOGRAPHY;;
Being the third born child of the Blackwood bunch, Hazel always felt she had a lot to live up to. Born nearly three years after Marley and Gabe, Hazel had to be loud from a young age to be heard. She didn’t mind, though, in fact it rather suited her. Hazel, throughout her childhood, idolised her older siblings, following them around and learning more from them than she ever did in school. She picked up somewhat of a mischievous personality from Marley and Gabe, following in their footsteps as they pranked as many people as they possibly could.
Being the daughter of two Victors was always going to be difficult, but Hazel never really let it bother her. Though the threat of being reaped for the Games constantly loomed over her and her siblings’ heads, it never really crossed her mind that it would happen to any of them. Hazel was always fairly oblivious to the effects the Games had on her parents, mostly because it’s all she’s ever known them to be. Hazel doesn’t like to think about the Games too much, though she is highly aware of them. After the rebellions, her awareness doubled, and suddenly the Games became twice as real. She was eleven when the rules changed, meaning she had twice as much chance of being reaped as the kids who had gone before her, and, though she never let it show, it did scare her.
Her fears were truly realised when her older brother, Gabe, was reaped for the 124th Hunger Games. Hazel was only 13 at the time, but can distinctly remember her heart thundering in her chest as she heard his name called over the microphone, begging to whoever would listen that, by some miracle, there would be a volunteer. That was the first year she watched the Games from start to finish, she barely slept, though she wouldn’t let it show how scared she really was. When Gabe came home, Hazel expected everything to go back to normal, and, for her, it seemed to. Gabe seemed a little different, but she tried to bring him back using humour rather than any other technique, finding herself unable to relate to his struggle.
Hazel was always very intelligent, something she used to her advantage throughout her school life. She rarely studied, and for the most part got by just with her wits alone. She preferred to make her classmates laugh, and it can’t be said that she didn’t have fun whilst she was a school, though she was the first to admit ‘fun’ probably wasn’t the point of an education. Although she didn’t like most subjects, Hazel always wanted to know how things work. She preferred to do things with her hands, and found herself choosing experimental science classes throughout her education, neglecting most other things. Hazel loved to experiment in class, and, although she did blow up one of the science laboratories in high school, she seemed to have a knack for experimentation and technology.
By the end of high school, Hazel still hadn’t settled on a career, which unnerved her. She’d never put much thought into the future, but now she suddenly had to. She took up a general science degree figuring that was her safest bet, giving her the widest range of options. She managed to finish her degree, and soon found work as a lab assistant in a research facility in District Three. While she’d intended the job to be fairly long-term, seeing the research being carried out reinvigorated her passion for science, and so she found herself applying to become a PhD student at a university in the Capitol. Hazel moved to the Capitol just under a year ago, found herself a job in another lab, and has begun study for a PhD in Food Sciences, combining her passions, she likes to say.
Hazel enjoys the Capitol events, mostly because it’s a good chance for her to catch up with her family and the friends she has made over the years. It’s also a good excuse for her to get out of the lab or away from the books, and to score some free food, that’s always a bonus.
CONNECTIONS;;
Gabriel Blackwood; older brother. Hazel has always been close with all of her siblings, Gabe being no exception. Sometimes she find his protectiveness a little much, but for the most part she finds it endearing and loves her brother for it. Sometimes she worries about him, but will gloss over real issues with a pun or wise crack, like she would with anyone else. Marley Blackwood; older sister. To be elaborated on. Wyatt Thread; future brother-in-law. Hazel grew up with Wyatt, and loves him almost like a brother, but that doesn’t stop her from constantly grilling him about marrying her sister. Maize Cassidy; boyfriend. Hazel and Maize have been dating for a couple of years now, and are about as compatible as two people can be, bonding over their shared love of food. The pair moved in together around a year ago.
hmu for more connections!! I’m open to anything!

“i don’t understand hesitation to say you love someone or something. if you love them, love it, say the words. don’t fear what words can do. they’re just words.”
Name
Marley Blackwood
Age
Twenty-seven
Parents
Isabelle & Forrest Blackwood
Occupation
Environmental engineer
Background
For the first couple years of Marley’s life, she was the youngest child and only girl in the Blackwood family. She doesn’t lament that she doesn’t remember those years in the least bit, honestly even a bit thankful she doesn’t remember life before she was the big sister just as much as Gabe tried to view her as one of his little sisters. The forty-five minutes between his birth and hers barely matters to her anymore, especially considering how many times she’s felt like the stand-in adult when it comes to fixing up the messes he created (conveniently forgetting she often helped make the mess). As they grew older, the messes got bigger, and they were often enough to keep her distracted from the darker, crueler things going on in the world around her.
Once Marley was old enough to start understanding the Games, she also started blocking them out. There was no place in her life for the dismal event that she felt was directly responsible for robbing her of her aunts and uncles, her grandparents, and of a certain level of happiness she could always tell her parents seemed to fall just shy of. The Games killed people she loved, people she could’ve loved, people that others loved, and though she would never dare to speak out publicly about them, she performed her own kind of rebellion against them by refusing to watch them. The only reason she went to the Tower after thirteen was to see her friends from other districts, and to subject them to the new pranks she and Gabe had been devising in the months prior, always more elaborate (and dangerous) than the year before. There were a few years she skipped, though, ironically during which she was already in the Capitol studying for her bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering. Numbers and sciences had always appealed to Marley from a young age, perhaps the perfect blend of her mother’s technology district and father’s forestry district. She likes to think that what she does combines both her parents’ interests and backgrounds, and she’ll proudly proclaim it to anyone.
Marley will be the first to tell anyone that she can be protective, but it’s a protectiveness that’s restricted mostly to cleaning up messes left behind or giving motivational and rational speeches to those she cares for. She’s not one for confrontations, leaving that to others who may be more suited for the role. She doesn’t think of herself as a goody-two-shoes (she’s left too many banana peels in her wake for that), but she can’t consider herself a real deviant. She does what she wants because she wants to and it brings her some joy, and she feels that’s enough explanation for anything she pursues in life.
Traits
+ quick-witted, optimistic, empathetic
- inexperienced, overly confident, blinded to negativity

While she'd intended the job to be fairly long-term, seeing the research being carried out reinvigorated her passion for science, and so she found herself applying to become a PhD student at a university in the Capitol. Hazel moved to the Capitol just under a year ago, found herself a job in another lab, and has begun study for a PhD in Food Sciences, combining her passions, she likes to say.
Hazel enjoys the Capitol events, mostly because it's a good chance for her to catch up with her family and the friends she has made over the years. It's also a good excuse for her to get out of the lab or away from the books, and to score some free food, that's always a bonus.
Connections;;
