in verses where winnie the pooh exists (and therefore tigger exists) tigger is a comfort character of jay’s. They see the bounce between pride and loneliness in him over being ‘the only one’ as reflective of their own bounce over having rare conditions. There is a certain kind of hollow pride in being so unique that people don’t know what to do with you. But the loneliness kicks in quickly thanks to how often you get stared at because people cannot relate to your experiences. 

If they had to pick another character to relate to it’d be a tie between pooh and rabbit. But tigger is by far the most relatable character for Jay.

“I don’t belong here.”

"You don't know how many times I've thought that." Humor is jay's way of deflecting reflections of their insecurities. Even when they don't deny said insecurities outright. So the cocky grin covers the disconnect they feel in their current situation. "Where do you wanna go though? I have my sling ring. I can get you just about anywhere on earth."

Granted, the 'just about' is more of a glaring asterisk hovering over 'anywhere.' A place like the entrance to Ta Lo is too hidden by its own magic for them to create that mental anchor. And while they can theoretically open a portal to the middle of the ocean, it's not practical. But any place that's more familiar to him is a possible choice. The question of 'is this against the rules,' doesn't cross their mind. If it isn't, then hurray! If it is, then so be it. Tonight will be a rebel's night.

“You’re a lot different than I thought you would be. Still not sure if that’s good or bad, yet.”

Jay poses with a big grin. "I'm taking it as a compliment regardless. Most people just don't talk with me. Which isn't the worst thing when I need to focus. But its annoying regardless." They haven't been hurt by it yet. Instead they've kept their mind centered on learning what they can. Magic -- sorry, the mystic arts -- is a fascinating subject. Shangqi visiting makes them extra excited thanks to him owning the rings.

"You know, you're a lot different than I thought you would be too." They start sorting books left on the desk. "I thought maybe you'd come in and be kind of arrogant, but not explicitly arrogant?" A pause is taken to examine the spine of one text. "Some of the other superheroes who pop in act like they get off on their own powers. But you're cool!"

just fyi: jay has a cane in all their verses. and in all of their verses they can and will and HAVE swung it to hit people with. They can also pack a punch thanks to all the finger splints they wear.
