the  entire  arrangement  seemed  fitting,  have  sloane  go  half  with  him  on  an  apartment  as  his  own  financial  problems  had  finally  came  to  bite  him  in  the  ass.  his  father  ‘  exiling  ’  him  from  any  money  he  didn't  properly  earn.  meaning  he  had  to  work  for  his  dad  to  get  his  rent.  then  the  chain  of  events  with  sloane  came  after.  "  yeah  she  had  to  leave  early.  "  raleigh  mumbled  half  tiredly.  his  new  .  .  .  fling  had  him  peaked.  maybe  she  was  good  for  him  at  the  moment,  but  it  felt  odd  having  her  under  the  same  roof  as  someone  he  once  shared  the  same  intimacy  with.  and  more.  "  damn,  you  made  pancakes?  where?  "

“And did your friend from last night leave already?” Sloane tries to peer behind her ex’s back, searching for an extra person in their apartment. It’s not a comfortable question to ask, truth be told, and she would rather not know who they were with and what they were doing but the walls here are thin enough for her to be aware that they’d had company of some sort last night. The least she could do now is pretend to be unaffected. “What a shame. I would have loved a new opinion on my pancakes… I think they’ve never turned out so nice, honestly.”

he had his own share of being connected to a certain thing when he was young, he was heavily into cars but dinosaurs follow soon after. even though his obsession with cars never faded, he just clung to it in private. he wanted that for gabriel. leigh wanted to get him anything he wanted whether it was a trip to universal, leggos, figurines, whatever he wanted. anything to see the pure happiness fill those eyes. after his humorous impression of the t-rex, he joined in on the excitement with a light laugh, " me too, ever since i was your age. maybe we will. if it's okay with your mom. " his eyes finding their way towards beat, with every glance there was a hint of softness but just when they lingered for just a bit longer- he brought them back to his son. " whoa! the ankylosaurus? you're the coolest kid i've ever met." truly, raleigh was impressed by his choice and knowledge. the kids he came across were always glued to a screen. " ooo." he let out small playful reactions when beat reminded him. a full hearted laugh escaped the man's throat at the stared unison, making his head tilt back slightly. " the end of the school year sounds fair. " of course he wanted this life. he was far from an absent father, if he had a kid out there he want to be apart of their life. with beat as well? she was already considered his family before their son but now it was solidified. hearing her response made him feel as if he could breathe again. then he realized that he was holding his breath. " i think i can make that happen- well, not scratch that. i will make that happen. " for the first time tonight, his words were dense but meaningful. now it was his turn turn into mush, " i would love that, if little guy doesn't mind. "

as if the boy had been waiting his entire life for someone new to asked him the question, gabriel released a guttural noise of excitement. raleigh earned a genuine giggle from them both with the spot on t-rex impression. on gabriel end, his nervousness waning as well. "the t-rex is so cool! i learned they can grow up to almost twenty feet tall. i wish i can ride one." as an after thought, he remembered the question, releasing his mother's sleeve as he stepped forward towards the man. "my favorite is the ankylosaurus! it has armor built in its skin. like a turtle! i want a turtle, but mommy says i can't have one." with that comment, beat piped up, poking her son in the ribs. "not true, buckaroo. i said, at the end of the school year. maybe." almost in unison, the two looked over at raleigh with a similar expression as if to say, 'see what i'm dealing with?' behati nodded excitedly in tune with his question after. thrilled at the idea of a long overdue family trip. a feeling flipped in her stomach right then, her face flushing a little. it wasn't that she didn't believe raleigh would want to stick around - in fact, she knew he had a one-way ticket to never seeing them again. there were no expectations of raleigh staying in their life. however, it was both a delightful surprise, and flourishing hope that he wanted to stick around. mostly for gabriel's sake, but if possible, her sake, as well. "i'd like that," she murmured warmly, "he's always wanted to go to jurassic world, but we haven't been. we go to zoos and hike a lot." behati and gabe's adventures were more so on the animal watching, camping and hiking side of things. which her son loved, but she went to be a good sport. nature, bugs, and limited bathroom facilities were major cons in her eyes, but her son's enjoyment made it worth it. "you should come with us sometime." she added, making a point to look away. behati made a habit of expecting people to decline when hope was in the picture. \ @serxndipities

shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans, leigh held onto his set of keys for his truck while he marinated in guilt. taking one last look at the scenery over his shoulder before heading for his vehicle behind cat. he caught wind of her scent through the breeze which made him exhale through his nose. he missed her scent on his clothes and sheets. unlocking the doors with the key fob, he was going to open the passenger side for her but she had it by herself. slipping into the driver seat, raleigh shoved the key into the ignition, " what i'm trying to wraps my head around is the fact that i do miss you and still have feelings, but it's too late to feel that way. i don't want to move on but you deserve happiness just as the next person. " everything was confusing to him at the moment. " do you think i'm that heartless? "

catalina wasnt sure why she brought him here. he was right she deserved better than how he treated her.. she had deserved better than him.. but yet here she was trying. trying to get his heartbeat racing for her like an idiot once again. her brows knitted as she began walking to the car before getting in and buckling up. “what is there to wrap youre head around? that i miss you? that i miss how things once were?” her head rested on the window as she sighed. “it is pretty simple.” she rolled her eyes before nodded. “glad our breakup could help you be a better partner. have your next girl text me to thank me.”

his hands were in the pockets of his jeans while toying with a loose thread. he listened but didn't give her his full attention until she mentioned being ignored. dark eyes landing on andie as if he was stunned, " cold shoulder? im working andie— what the hell are you on about? andie was silent as she stared at the other. she was never one to get too caught with relationships, especially since being in school, but there was something about the man that intrigued her more than most others. "i know that," the woman said defensively, absentmindedly placing her hand on her hip. "distance is fine, but i do think it's a little shitty when you full out give me the cold shoulder." she pursed her lips, brows furrowing together as she did so, "ignore me, sure, but don't act like you don't even know me." || @serxndipities

the  childish  metal  toy  were  a  huge  memory  of  his  upbringing,  mostly  since  he  had  a  collection  ranging  from  the  various  generations  and  styles.  "  i'm  just  going  to  pretend  i  didn't  hear  you  say  bugs  bunny  was  not  cool.  "  speaking  through  his  teeth  while  he  muffled  a  laugh,  finding  their  banter  comforting  especially  since  they  were  about  to  face  his  parents.  "  let's  do  it.  "  when  he  felt  her  hand  hold  the  crease  of  his  elbow,  raleigh  brought  a  hand  to  gently  place  over  her  own  to  give  a  measured  stroke  of  comfort  before  pushing  the  door  open.  being  greeted  why  the  decorations  the  festive  music. / @vvhimsicals

"of course i do. i couldn't possibly forget about them." she referenced her brother's obsession, chuckling quietly before raising an eyebrow and chuckling even more. "bugs bunny was your favorite?.. not someone cooler, like a superhero or something?" she teased him, nudging his shoulder before leaning into him a bit as she took his elbow. the two were now in front of the main door, and imani could feel her heart beating a mile a minute. she was ready though-- she had to be, and she nodded her head in an attempt to fake her confidence. automatically  accepting  the  peck  on  his  lips,  his  expression  went  from  playful  embarrassment  to  skepticism,"  oh!  you're  so  lying,  "  he  shook  his  head,  still  being  mindful  of  her  hands  being  tangled  in  his  dark  strands.  he  chuckled  to  where  his  shoulders  jumped,  "  you  couldn't  stand  my  ass.  "  his  tone  shifting  to  more  tender  level  as  he  leaned  into  her  allowing  her  to  nuzzle  up  against  him  for  how  ever  long  she  wanted.  "  only  you  can  see  this  side  of  me,  you  know  that?  anyone  else  would  have  gone  missing  by  now.  "  his  threat  was  harmless,  as  he  fought  a  threatening  grin.  the  muscles  within  his  face  starting  to  turn  sore.  all  of  it  was  foreign,  but  he  embraced  it.  "  its  so  different  when  you're  on  the  other  side  of  receiving  compliments.  you  have  no  idea  how  weird-  but  good,  it  feels.  so  thank  you,  mani.  "  shedding  an  emotional  layer  of  his  childhood,  leigh  had  let  out  a  content  sigh  before  placing  a  quick  kiss  to  his  girlfriend's  forehead.

the two were opposites when it came to their upbringing. sure, imani had a decent childhood, raised by two loving and hardworking parents, but she certainly wouldn't consider herself a nepo baby in the way that raleigh was. it seemed that he was set for life, whereas imani had to build up her own success to stand on her own two feet. they both saw things differently sometimes, but imani appreciated their differences in perspectives. "i love the results, but i have to admit that i liked you from the start." she shrugged with a grin, nuzzling up against his shoulder some more. it was adorable to see him as a shy mess, never thinking she would get to see him in this light when the two originally met. she wasn't sure if there was a soft side to him, but she saw it now and she loved it. he’ll  admit  that  he  was  a  nepo  child.  not  in  the  self  righteous  way  but  more  so  that  he  was  aware  of  what  he  had  been  brought  into.  before  imani,  he  was  careless,  irresponsible,  and  lacked  the  fundamentals  of  being  empathetic.  he  was  beyond  stubborn  but  he  finally  got  the  picture.  “  well,  you  changed  me  for  the  better.  don’t  you  like  your  results?  “  leigh’s  words  were  tender  as  he  was  genuine.  he  liked  the  change.  he  just  feared  for  what  would  happen  in  the  future  for  them.  would  he  go  back  to  his  old  ways  if  they  were  to  break  up?  the  idea  of  it  made  his  stomach  turn  as  it  was  the  last  thing  he  wanted  to  think  about.  before  he  would  cast  himself  into  a  mental  spiral  he  cleared  his  throat  and  embraced  the  femme  in  his  arms.  inhaling  her  sweet  and  familiar  scent.  “  stoppppp.  “  raleigh  whined  playfully  as  he  kissed  her  temple  a  few  times.  “  yeah  and  it’s  your  fault.  you  turned  your  boyfriend  into  a  shy  blushing  mess,  are  you  happy?  “  attempting  his  best  to  sound  frustrated  but  it  morphed  into  humored  sarcasm.

she mentally noted his words, but she was never easy on him and he knew that. sometimes he needed a little booster, a kick in the butt and she was always happy to do so. yet, at the same time, she had felt as if he had already grown so much just since the day the two had met. she sensed an abundance of maturity that she originally hadn't seen, and she loved being there with him every step as the two continued to grow together. "you are poetic, it's just sometimes a shocker to hear you say such sweet words compared to when we first met," she replied playfully with a chuckle, nuzzling up to him. once noticing that his cheeks were turning red from her words, she couldn't help but pout at how cute he looked reacting to what she had said. "god, you are seriously so cute when you get all shy. i can turn it down, though, you're turning into a tomato. a cute one, though." / @serxndipities

at  the  time  he  met  imani,  leigh  had  endless  ‘  situation-ships’  on  his  plate.  he  lacked  the  growth  he  currently  had,  the  only  person  to  get  credit  for  being  able  to  change  the  perspective  of  a  spoiled  college  student,  was  imani  zarei.  the  day  he  took  the  seat  next  to  her  will  be  one  of  the  days  he’ll  wholeheartedly  remember.  “  easy  now,  “  the  male  barely  narrowed  his  eyes  in  a  playful  manner  as  he  allowed  her  to  take  his  hand.  “  I’m  poetic!  “  adding  onto  the  humor  he  couldn’t  get  through  his  protest  without  bursting  into  a  fit  of  laughter.  hearing  her  words  and  how  she  viewed  him  only  made  his  shoulders  rise  to  his  ears,  an  attempt  to  cover  how  the  shade  of  crimson  that  appeared  when  he  received  compliments.  “  maniiii,  “  he  drawled.  “  you’re  making  me  all  gushy  and  soft.  “  he  brought  a  hand  to  rub  the  side  of  his  neck  as  he  could  feel  the  heat  from  his  face  starting  to  cool  down.

they were different in plenty of ways, but it was what drew them to each other in the first place. maybe if things were different, they would've never crossed paths, and if he hadn't gotten on her nerves so much at the start, maybe this would've never happened. regardless, she was thankful for every little thing about raleigh and she wasn't planning on letting any of that go anytime soon. she chuckled at his sentiment, nodding her head without hesitation in agreement. "oh, trust me, i know how much of an ass you were..." she responded, taking his hand and brushing her thumb against his skin gently. eyes widened playfully as she sat up now to face him, playing up the dramatics. "raleigh han is poetic? stop the presses, this is breaking news," she joked, chuckling a bit more as she nudged him playfully. "i definitely didn't see it coming either-- never thought i'd date someone who got on my nerves as much as you did, but you won me over with your charm, clearly." / @serxndipities

to  this  day  he  was  still  perplexed  over  how  he  managed  to  get  this  intimate  with  imani.  starting  from  fellow  a  classmate  that  couldn’t  keep  a  writing  utensil  to  save  his  life,  to  lovesick  puppies  that  won’t  leave  each  other  any  space.  the  thought  of  how  their  dynamic  prolonged  into  what  they  have  currently  mused  him.  every  time.  “  hmm,  I  was  an  ass  back  then,  the  most  I  would  have  seen  was  beer  bottles.  “  leigh  mindlessly  rambled  before  brining  himself  back  into  reality,  “  but  honestly?  no,  I  would  have  never  thought  the  woman  who  gave  me  shit  for  always  borrowing  her  pen  would  end  up  as  the  best  girlfriend  in  the  world.  “  his  tone  casual  but  light  as  his  words  were  genuine,  it  was  the  honest  truth.  “  I’m  kind  of  glad  I  didn’t  see  it  at  first,  it  makes  it  much  more  meaningful  to  be  in  the  moment  we  have.  .  .  don’t  tell  anyone  i  said  something  poetic.  “  albeit,  poetry  is  his  favorite  type  of  literature  and  it  didn’t  help  that  he  was  a  helpless  romantic  either,  he  couldn’t  escape  it. 

obviously, raleigh was far more than just cute. she could go on and on for days about how attracted imani was to him, and it was certainly a factor as to why she even entertained continuing to chat with him in the first place. she was happy she continued to pursue him, though, because look where it led the two. imani chuckled at his observation, nodding her head in agreement. "it's crazy how things come into full circle. once a full blown headache, now my peace." she joked, grin still evident on her face. "do you think you could've seen us where we are now when we first met?" / @serxndipities

getting  her  to  chuckle  or  laugh  was  like  winning  the  lottery  or  getting  a  wish  become  true.  he  could  do  it  all  day,  "  i'm  cute?  "  the  volume  of  raleigh's  voice  was  light  while  his  shoulders  started  to  rise  up  to  his  jaw.  in  the  beginning,  when  imani  would  make  him  feel  this  way  he  would  have  pushed  it  off  and  went  straight  to  the  next  conversation.  yet,  he  grew  to  embrace  such  compliments  while  being  with  her.  she  was  collecting  every  piece  of  him  and  he  allowed  it  with  such  comfortability.  "  you  just  called  the  guy  that  used  to  give  you  headaches  everyday  [  .  .  .  ]  rejuvenating.  "  he  chuckled,  "  it's  honestly  how  insane  that  happened  because  you  did,  too.  " / @vvhimsicals

she couldn't help but chuckle loudly at his comparison, only to shake her head immediately in response at his compliment. "cuter is a strong word, babe... especially when you're looking like that," she nodding up and down at him, never taking for granted how attracted she really was to him. knowing that there was a softer approach to him, more gentle than when they first met, she was grateful when she got to experience those approaches first hand. she felt as if she were a silly schoolgirl writing poetry to a crush in class with the cheesy words being exchanged, but she had no intentions of stopping. "imagine feeling that way but times ten... seriously, being with you is always so... rejuvenating. it's like you came into my life at the perfect time." / @serxndipities

"  i'm  like  the  energizer  bunny,  baby.  i  don't  stop.  "  he  started,  brows  being  knitted  as  if  he  was  offended  by  how  she  didn't  realize  it.  "  now  you  see  how  i  feel.  you're  just cuter  when  you  do  it.  "  bringing  both  of  his  arms  around  to  loosely  loop  them  around  her  waist  while  hands  rested  on  an  appropriate  section  of  her  back.  when  it  came  to  the  woman  in  his  arms  his  eyes  told  a  different  story,  with  every  stare  or  silent  gawk,  there  were  a  million  stars  in  the  pool  of  dark  brown.  it  was  evident  when  they  were  in  the  company  of  other  people  as  his  eyes  were  only  soft  on  her  and  her  only.  "  i  feel  like  it's  only  right  to  make  you  all  shy  and  giggly  as  you  make  me  feel  like  i'm  walking  on  air  and  can't  think  straight.  " / @vvhimsicals

even though she had no idea how they worked together, somehow they did. the saying "opposites attract" was something imani really did believe in now, and she loved the way they fit into each others' lives. she shook her head in a playful denial, keeping him close to her as the two continued conversing. his words were like music to her ears, and she couldn't stop smiling from them.
