“I know it doesn’t make sense.” That is the most frustrating part about all of this. On a very logical level, Yumi knows that there is no rational explanation for what has been going on during their time in the Wilderness. She wants to insist that it isn't like with Lottie, who thinks she is talking to the mountains. Well... not entirely like that. But saying it out loud to Harper makes her feel like a madwoman because she knows how it sounds. Harper is a realist. It's something that they've always gotten along about, and Yumi doesn't like feeling so untethered from reality. "Never mind. I didn't say anything."

"hey, harper! hold up!" jordan calls out as he runs across campus to catch up to her. the smile on his lips greets her the second she stops on her tracks. he was worried she'd ignore him - it wouldn't be a first. maybe that's why he's so drawn to her. liv told him to stay away and yet, he never learns. "what are you up to?" he asks innocently before he realizes how he comes across. a chuckle comes up. "i was thinking we could get started on that econ project? if you're free now?"

it  comes  as  something  of  a  surprise.  as  much  as  he  might  deny  it  when  it  gets  brought  up  in  competition,  there’s  no  denying  the  difference  in  recognition  between  him  and  the  rest  of  the  team.  he’s  not  mad  about  it,  or  confused,  everyone  else  is  either  enhanced,  not  human,  or  nat.  it’s  hard  to  compete  with  in  terms  of  regard,  and  much  as  he  may  like  attention,  he’s  pretty  content  letting  the  real  leaders  be  in  front.  days  chock  full  of  meetings  are  no  fun  for  any  of  them,  and  some  hide  it  better  than  others.  cap’s  all  professional  until  pushed,  but  there’s  a  constant  work  of  his  jaw  that’s  been  there  since  breakfast.  nat’s  face  hasn’t  moved  an  inch  all  day  [  it’s  both  impressive  and  kind  of  scary  ].  

tony’s  the  better  out  of  all  of  them,  not  because  he’s  happy  to  be,  but  he  at  least  knows  how  to  work  a  room  without  starting  a  fight.  in  the  midst  of  what  feels  like  hours  of  talking  to  people  he  doesn’t  care  for,  clint’s  found  his  way  down  to  a  training  room.  there’s  a  criminal  lack  of  bow  and  arrow,  but  he  entertains  himself  with  throwing  knives  right  up  until  he’s  jolted  out  of  focus.  it  happens  often,  but  rarely  with  compliments.  ❛   everyone’s  cool  when  they’re  holding  a  weapon.   ❜
