She sleeps in her Dad's flannel when he's been away too long and she misses him.

because of her mental illness, when she's manic she is a no sleeper / light sleeper. but when she's in an area where she can be comfortable she can sleep a little deeper. though honestly I'd never consider her a deep sleeper. if one of her siblings is over and they move in their sleep it'll be enough for her to be up and starting coffee.

This isn’t funny, Ford. Are you at least enjoying yourself?  Echo’s voice comes through the phone as Fallon pours the brown bottle from the cabinet onto her side. It’s hard to be at a party when I feel like an open wound, that’s the thought that doesn’t dare leave her lips as the needle finds her skin. She’d be alright, just a swipe at her side before she took a bottle to the fucker’s temple. Her big mouth biting off a little more than she intended with her fist fight. Luckily the alcohol in her system was tag teaming with adrenaline.

That’s the trouble with towns like this, even in the biggest cities there are only so many streets. Only so many bars to find yourself in at the bottom of shot glasses, and drown in bottles of cheap liquor. You can say that you’ll never see someone again, and then you’ll turn that corner.

Before she knew it her steps were slowing, and even in the fullest crowds there they are: a traffic light in the middle of a busy street. Beckoning, taunting, deflecting it all depended on the day. And she should go, turn tail and walk away. Find another bar, another bottle. But when has she ever done what she was supposed to do?

“Fuck,” Fallon cursed as she stared down at the keypad in her hand, her shoulder propping her phone to her ear as she puts in her house code one more time. Her keys hanging in her mouth and absorbing the sound as it finally opened, and she made her way inside. 

Grocery bags hit the couch and keys descend from pink tiers to be caught in the open slope of her palm. Now Echo’s voice is her only focus, and she’s learned that that was a dangerous game. Her left leg extends to kick the door shut behind her and she moves through her home to check the calendar on the fridge. “Yeah, tonight's fine. I just have to move this thing around.”  This thing: being dinner with her brother. “How’s nine?” Comes her counter offer as she moves back into her living room and flops onto the cushions adjacent to her bags as though she was one of them. For all her cool exterior there was a flicker of something in her chest over the idea. 

When the woman on the opposite end confirmed it for her, that giddiness popped in her chest like champagne bubbles. And she knew that was dangerous too.

All she needed to do was restructure the thought. She didn’t like Echo, she liked tormenting her: obviously. So all the teasing, and the late nights, and the banter. That was just a keep to their greater goal. Nothing serious or dangerous about it. 

“It’s a date, officer.”
