Garak would have loved tumblr. His blog would've been full of silly literature rants and hate posts (most of them toward gul dukat). I'd imagine he would also reblog a lot of fashion content and maby even post sketches of his own designs (the models often looking a bit too much like Julian to be an accident).

Listen, if you want to keep that weird, semi-feral cat who:
1) Keeps the gd squirrels out of your garden
2) Sits on your lap and purrs like a backhoe
You have to accept that, occasionally, he's going to:
1) Swat you with his bigass paws.
2) Present you with dead rodents like he thinks he just brought you a fresh, hot pizza.
Same rules for gay, fay, traumatized ex-spies.
Garak is such a fun character because after a while everyone is just. Chill with him. Yeah that’s Garak he’s an ex spy. No he’s fine he won’t hurt you. Unless we ask him to, haha. Yeah he’s fine. Yeah he’s like our pet freak

We know Starfleet did the equivalent to student exchange programs thanks to Riker serving on the Klingon vessel, what if Julian entered the same program and wound up on a Vulcan ship? Julian is worried because, if he annoys humans this much, how badly will he annoy a ship full of Vulcans? Meanwhile, DS9 can't help feeling a little relieved over getting a 'professional' doctor instead of the hyperactive twink they got in the first place.
Only, the doctor, let's call him Koju, arrives and... he's a typical Vulcan who thinks certain other species are below him and scorns Bajor's 'primitive' ways; Julian may have referred to the area as a 'wilderness', but he was in awe of it and hopeful to do good. Koju does his work, turns in his reports on time, but he has only middling respect for Jadzia as the Dax symbiote has lived so long and Sisko as his 'commanding officer' - everyone else, he talks down to.
Meanwhile, Julian is on the Vulcan ship under Captain T'Sith, someone who was a great admirer of Spock and reminds her crew to be understanding of Julian's human passions as the Enterprise initially tried to be respectful of Spock's boundaries. This is aided when Julian reveals he took a Vulcan class at the academy and knows the language quite well. Julian still tries to rain in his motormouth, only to find the Vulcans aren't annoyed by it; they welcome discussion and debate on topics, and help him with meditation when he feels overwhelmed. He occasionally gets the 'zoomies', but they recognize that some humans have trouble sitting still for too long and let him run around their gym while they are meditating. One of them might find Kukalaka but admit the doctor is little more than a child, especially compared to a Vulcan so it's like T'Pol talking to Porthos.
The time comes when Julian and Koju switch back but T'Sith is a little concerned since Julian let it slip that he annoys people so easily and she offers him a spot on her ship since Koju has been requesting a transfer back to the Science Academy. Julian replies that he'll think about it, especially since Koju would have another six months before the transfer can be finalized. Julian arrives back on DS9 and hears about how professional Koju was and promises to try and be more professional in the future, even mentioning T'Sith's offer of a more permanent transfer, and those like Kira and O'Brien can't help feeling like...
How does Garak respond to all this?

Oh, you mean Thread of Truth? Great episode. Probably one of the best episodes of Season π.
Tied with the Rom divorce court episode, An Eye for an Eye, a Lobe for a Lobe. I mean c'mon, Liquidator Brunt getting a sabbatical from the FCA so he could be Prinadora's attorney? Evil!
I wish we'd gotten a dumb tailor Garak B plot. Something like someone opens up a competing tailor shop (and he gets competitive) or he can't figure out where his scraps of fabric keep disappearing to (it's a mother vole making a nest for her babies) or he's trying to make an outfit for Bashir is having a breakdown cause Bashir keeps asking for it to be altered (because he's too embarrassed to admit something about it sets off his sensory issues). I like when Garak gets to be just a simple tailor.

"Whisper a dangerous secret to someone you care about. Now they have the power to destroy you, but they won't. This is what love is." This Welcome to Nightvale quote reminds me of Julian and Garak.

For the title ask game: post-canon pseudo-fake-relationship please?
title ask game
This is the wip that this excerpt is from!
It's set about a year post-canon, when Cardassia has finally passed a bill allowing Federation aid workers - except all Federation workers needed a Cardassian sponsor. Garak would gladly take this role for Bashir, except Cardassia has also adopted some very strict anti-nepotism laws, which prohibit family and romantic partners from having any role in the hiring of workers.
Garak is not yet dating Bashir of course, but he would certainly like to, and if he starts dating him after sponsoring his work on Cardassia, people may decide that that he had an ulterior motive and rescind Bashir's visa. So instead, Garak pretends that he is barred from sponsoring due to his past involvement in the Order, and introduces Bashir to Parmak*, who does the sponsorship for him.
But, unfortunately for Garak, while Bashir doesn't understand the implication of Garak not being his sponsor, every other Cardassian does - and, therefore, every other Cardassian (with the exception of Parmak) assumes that Garak and Bashir are together. Garak... does not dissuade this interpretation. Bashir remains clueless.
*I have not read A Stitch in Time, so this is a very non-beta-canon version of Parmak, who really only agrees to do Bashir's sponsorship because he does not trust Garak, and he figures that at least this way he can keep an eye on him.

Found some good analysis for "Distant Voices" Garashir stuff on the episode's Memory-Alpha page.
"Linking this episode with "The Search, Part II", we can see resemblances in Garak's behavior. The common point between those two mental experiences being Bashir, it can be assumed that Garak's bravery and helpfulness in "The Search, Part II" is probably a projection of Bashir's perception of him. "Distant Voices" keeps in tune with "The Search, Part II", as we get to see a projection of caring, protective Garak again. Additionally, beyond his facade of kind tailor, Garak is a home-longing exiled Cardassian – just as Bashir longs to recover his body and life in "Distant Voices" – and, since "The Wire", Bashir knows just how much pain Garak endures from being stuck on DS9. The close relationship between the tailor and the doctor sets Garak as a target for the Lethean to try and manipulate Bashir by corrupting the projection of Garak. For all those reasons, Garak could be Bashir's determination and endurance – another reason why the Lethean would target this aspect in particular, as his goal was to trick Bashir into giving up."
I agree with it. It's also my interpretation, like this analysis also implies, that Garak was legit, until the Lethean took him over when they get to Ops near the end.
I love Garak being Julian's determination and endurance. As further evidence, Garak is the most helpful and supportive out of everyone. Like Julian knows he can count on Garak to get him through it no matter what. Everyone else might leave him or die, but Garak? Garak is with him to the end.
And what does Garak say to Julian in the final scene after he wakes up? "Cardassians don't believe in luck, Doctor. You survived because you're strong." Expressing determination and endurance.

Garak as David Garrick (actor and playwright, 1770) in Thomas Gainsborough's style. No one at all asked for anything like this. Yet I felt the need to spend a week on it lol
