It was well known that the current Emperor was not exactly the best ruler in the world thanks to his behavior in the movie. Almost all villagers didn't truly like him and had a hard time believing he was a changed man. Malina's father was no exception. He was very protective of his daughters, so when he discovered that Malina fell in love with Kuzco after graduation, he got irritated and constantly gave the royal teenager a cold and serious glare whenever he saw him, indicating he disapproved of Malina's possible relationship with him, thinking she deserved better than a jerk like Kuzco.

Personal headcanon: She has a red ibis as a pet. It causes trouble inside the palace and has interrupted some of Kuzco's meetings with the council.

Short Bio: She is Kuzco and Malina's first child, spoiled to the core by the Emperor. Malina on the other hand, keeps her in line and forces her to take her duties as princess seriously. (I know Pacha and his family have moved with Kuzco to the palace at the end of the series, but in my mind, they moved back to the village shortly after because they missed their little cozy hut). She goes to the village often with her mother to visit Grandpa Pacha and Malina's parents and sister. She's also super good friends with Kronk's son and daughter.

Female Friends.

It is clear that Malina's the most popular student. However, she's always seen hanging out with guys most of the time.

Malina had a really hard time in her early teenage years to befriend girls as they were jealous of how pretty and smart she was. Whenever she tried to talk to them, she got rejected every single time, until she decided it was best to befriend boys.

She had many fun and memorable moments with them. Especially with Kuzco and Kronk. She adored them, but it was not the same. Malina has always wondered how it would be like to actually bond with a girl and do all the things only female besties would do. And no, the cheerleaders were not exactly people she enjoyed spending time with, either. For some reason.

That was until she met Yatta. The cute but talkative waitress has become her first adorable female best friend.

As soon as she heard the news, the girl had a hard time believing them. True, she knew that someday Kuzco would travel to other nations to address important imperial matters in the future. But she never thought it'd be this soon and even less that he'd suffer the same fate as his father.

Malina couldn't shake the uneasiness since the council demanded him to go on this long trip. Kuzco had reassured her for months, telling her that everything would be alright and that their powerful Emperor would return safe and sound. She had wanted to believe he was right, but she just couldn't. He might have pretended to act all mighty and proud to appease her, but she had known him for years now, and she knew he was just as afraid as her. She couldn't tell why; she just had a bad feeling about this, and she thought about convincing him not to go, but it would have been impossible as it was one of his duties as Emperor. Besides, he had changed; he took his new responsibilities seriously, so it would have been impossible for him to listen to her and back out.

Her world fell apart the moment she read the new article a fellow reporter had published. The beating of her heart was too intense, and she felt dizzy and about to pass out. Her coworkers and editor-in-chief asked her what was going on. She excused herself without saying a single word and ran towards her little private office to let out all the overwhelming emotions she tried hard to hide right in that instant. If only she was there to protect him like she did back then at the Academy. If only the dumb council had actually listened to her (even if she wasn't the Empress) when she suggested bringing more protection for Kuzco, then maybe this wouldn't have happened.

They swore up and down they did, but Malina didn't buy it. They're a group full of liars. They never cared about Kuzco as a person; her blood boiled, and she was kicked out of the palace after they got sick of her. She had no other choice but to return to where she came from.

Days, months, and years were torture for her. She had lost an essential part of her life. Her first true love, best friend, and companion. Someone she grew to love with all her heart but failed to protect. She had so many things she wanted to tell Kuzco and never did, not even when they went out on that first real date after his coronation. It was pure agony. She wished she could turn back in time to prevent this from happening or to take his place somehow.

Sadly, the phrase 'life goes on' her family told her didn't make her feel any better, but it was true. While the memories of Kuzco were bittersweet, she promised to continue living for him.

However, Malina noticed the Emperor's tragic 'accident' was suspicious. There must have been more information, she was sure. It was already strange that she recently saw some of the guards and servants who accompanied Kuzco walking around as if nothing happened.

Plus, the new Emperor that had just taken over was weird. Chances were that he wasn't even a member of the Council. Maybe he was a foreigner. A very well-informed one too because he had asked her to be his Empress. Warning bells rang in her head. She'll get to the bottom of this.

Malina is partial to alcohol. As long as she drinks it in moderation, it shouldn't be a big problem. She has a reputation to maintain, after all. So, of course she drinks but she can only handle a glass. The thing with Malina is that she gets drunk faster than any other person, and when that occurs, she finds everything amusing and exciting, so she starts laughing and talking nonstop, making her start confessing every little secret that's bothering her and wants to share with the world.

I see Malina enjoying all kinds of salads and stews. Especially if they have potato in them. Now, Malina has a different concept of fun. While it's true that she enjoys going to Mudka's and tries to beat people's record at that weird 'Whack-a-llama' game machine (it doesn't matter if she's been doing that for two consecutive weeks), she thinks sitting in the meadow and knitting new socks for her collection is equally entertaining.
