HSHQTASK059: FAREWELL !

when did you join ? what made you join ? what do you remember from the plotlines that were current at the time ? where were you in life when you joined and where are you now ?

right at the beginning of 2016, around feb or march. i had just finished high school and took an off year to prepare for uni admission exams. i needed something to take my mind off studying for it and my friend julia suggested i joined her on tumblr rping. i had no idea what that was but she helped me through it and we joined another group together. at the time i also developed a bit of a thing for royals and made my character in that group an undercover norwegian royal, on some princess diaries bullshit. but looking up things for that group i decided to search norwegian royalty on tumblr and found the blog for a character in vik. olav if i'm not mistaken. i started stalking the group and got really interested in it and mentioned it to julia who told me she'd been here before and would join with me if i chose to so we brought barbie and biel. then the group closed and i completely gave up rping until one random day many months later i logged into tumblr again god knows why and there was a message from martha, she told me the group came back to life and i decided to rejoin. and here i am, haven't left since.

which characters have you written over the years ?

ffs, let me see if i can remember all of them: ayo, bruce, barbie, toni, leon, sergi, silje, ilija, zoey (silje's draft), pedro, noémïe (poor thing lasted 3 seconds), ionie. i feel like there's more, i just can't remember.

what is your favourite plotline that you've been part of ?

the zulu & the southern africa conflicts. even all of us applying together that day was such a moment, i loved every bit of it. i had so so much fun writing ayo even if he was one of those characters it is impossible to write filler threads with, i still felt so much joy when i got a notif that someone replied to him, even if the entire reply was someone hating on him hard.

what about other people's plotlines ?

it's impossible to pick one when you've been here from the start and have seen countless amazing ones but the english plot was truly a wonder, even the murder mystery event was fucking incredible. anything involving russia and the romanovs as well was so well thought and made so much sense when you put the pieces together you just can't help but love every bit.

who is your favourite character from the ones you've played ? why ? what made you love them ? what made them so fun to write ?

favourite to write i'd say ayo, for the same reasons i mentioned on the plotline question but if i had to choose only one to keep playing forever it would either be silje or ilija. i feel like those are versatile ones that i could go in different directions with if i'd wanted to. the one i had the most fun writing though was pedro for sure.

if you could relive a plotline, which would it be ?

the invasion in greece and i think everyone who was here for that would say the same thing. that was our most iconic event and for a reason, everyone put 150% into it and it worked out so so so so well we didn't even imagine the outcome it would have, we just wanted to traumatise everyone a bit but received the best event in hshq in return.

is there a plotline that you'd edit now if you could ?

i don't think there is, especially because i don't think i remember even half of them but even then everything was fun and a joy to write about so i probably wouldn't change anything.

what's a plotline you wish you would have been able to finish before closing or just write more of ?

the ones that never happened. e mentioned some of the things we planned and didn't happen on the timeline post but i assure you that's not even the beginning. at times we'd plan an entire year of events in advance and come up with a full story, reasoning, plot drops for it but when the time to have them came we forgot all about it and change everything to something we'd put together in 20 mins instead of the plans we spent days working on. even the cruise ship they were supposed to be stuck in was an idea we had so much fun coming up with and it didn't get to see the light of day.

what is your favourite ooc memory ?

every honesty hour chaos was such a fun time to be on the dash, or whenever something big would happen ic and there would be 100 ooc posts reacting to it on the dash and the jokes were the peak of comedy. but i'll always have a soft spot for the soletsky silent thread bc icb we actually had 40+ notes on that, it was priceless. the word lunch is stuck with me forever. AND that one time i got kicked out on this exact date a couple years back.

an update more than anything, now with a look into her professional account which is boring.com, just family or anything business related. her personal hasn’t changed much either, she’s still barely using it and, when she does, it’s her kids or something else that has nothing to do with politics. she has far more followers on the personal than the official, even though it gets updated way less often. follows nobody on either, has a private acc only so she can follow people ‘cause she doesn’t post on it, every private thing she wants to share will be done on her close friends stories. will not follow sasha.

MEET BARBARA’S CATS.

a six year old female puma ( cougar / mountain lion / catamount / however you wanna call it ); a one and a half year old male white tiger & the new new additions: a pair of jaguars approximately one month old.

barbie would have never considered having a pet had an old uni friend not contacted her asking for help finding a place for this female puma cub that had been found injured in mexico and in no condition to be released back in the wild. after long talks with said friend and a few other biologists, she found out pumas could be domesticated in the sense of they can grow accostumed to living around humans and be very affectionate to them — quite like small cats— so she decided to keep the animal. mara was trained with dogs and has no problems being around small animals or other humans, dani probably used her as a pillow far too many times. left small picture  is mara when barbie first got her by the end of 2016, being between eight and ten weeks old given her size at the time. mara is now about 190 centimeters tall when standing up and weighs around 60 kilos.

marlo is also a rescue that barbie didn’t bother asking how exactly ended up with alessandro but it did and now it’s hers. the training with him was much harder than it was with mara so she’s definitely not putting this big boy to train with border collies and greyhounds. he is a house cat much like mara since a cub seeing that he was only the size of a two year old child like the small picture to the right back then but now that he’s an adult and reached the full power of being 280 centimeters tall standing up and weighing around 170 kilos, there is a santuary for him in one of her properties where he stays when barbara isn’t in portugal. tigers are naturally very lazy and spend up to 18 hours a day sleeping so this guy’s just chill, but that does not mean you should try to pet him without b around ‘cause, unlike mara, he’s not that into people in his space.

nia and noa aren’t with her yet, they have just been rescued in panama and are receiving the proper treatment before she can have them. much like the other two, rescuers don’t have the resources to keep the animal for much longer and people near her were contacted about it since barbara is now known as the woman who adopts big cats. after accepting to take these ones she has decided to create an institute to shelter and rescue endangered animals of all kind ( mostly so she can still take them in without having to keep them as pets ). these two will still live with her until they get too big to do so though. noa is a male black jaguar and nia is female brown jaguar. they are siblings and their mama is ded.

it really is no surprise that a child of people with important and demanding jobs would show and receive love mainly through quality time. in the first few years of her life, henrique wouldn’t let barbara out of his sight; too protective to do so. having a child had been his wish, why would he want to be away from her when he finally got barbie ? it was when he dropped everything to sit in the middle of his office and play with a two year old that she felt the happiest. that she felt loved. and that’s the sentiment she tries to replicate and inflict on others: barbara isn’t one to speak of feelings, let alone confess them, so words of affirmation could never be her thing. physical contact for her is strategic, it’s done when she deems necessary. acts of service can’t be done when one barely has the time to breathe. now if she finds being with you is more important than whatever is pinned and marked on her schedule, that’s how you know you’re loved by barbara. but she can’t always be there, dropping everything is easier said than done — that she learned from her mother — so she makes up for it by giving you something that will have you know she cares. a birthday might be missed but the birthday present will never be forgotten. she couldn’t make it to an important night ? you’ll get the biggest congratulatory present. and it was never about the present itself but the time and effort she puts into finding a way to say she loves you into an object: a personal one that shows she knows you.

AMANDA VIDAL | HEAD OF STAFF — barbara doesn’t handle her own staff, she has a person assigned for that job only. amanda has worked for their family long enough, having once been her grandmother’s lady-in-waiting. she is now barbara’s most powerful employee: the only person above amanda is barbara herself. anyone else answers to her. she does the hiring, the firing and anything else that falls into her area of expertise, all barbara does is tell her what she’s in need of or not happy about

MARIANA BRAZ | ROYAL ADVISOR — it was only recently ( three years ) that barbara hired an advisor of her own and mariana started travelling with her. before, the position would be filled by general employees of the palace and that’s where they’d stay. mariana, just as most of her staff, is of noble blood and has history of working alongside the braganças.

ADRIAN GONÇALVES | ASSISTANT — there is only one man in this world that barbara blindly trusts and that is adrian. he is with her at all times, be it at meetings or the gym. wherever barbie goes, adrian is right behind her. he’s been working with and for barbara since she was fifteen as a coiffeur and earned his position as her closest and most trusted man over the years. 

ALICE D’OLIVEIRA | HEAD OF SECURITY — her second closest and most trusted employee. just as adrian, alice has been with her since her fifteenth year, her father is king henrique’s head of security and got her the spot to work as a bodyguard back then and she earned her way to the same position as him, making daddy proud and all that. 

OLÍVIA DA VEIGA | BUSINESS MANAGER — even though her businesses are barbara’s favourite things to work in, she could never really do that on her own. hence olívia. she handles her branding and everything else in that field so that barbie only needs to hear from her what’s most important and sign shit. 

BEATRIZ ÁLVARES | HEAD OF LEGAL — the legal team has five members but barbara doesn’t feel like she needs to travel with every single one of them so beatriz alone will do. the other four stay back in portugal and/or travelling if it’s necessary, dealing with everything they must while bea stays with barabara as a counselor. 

CAROLINA ALBUQUERQUE | HEAD OF PUBLIC RELATIONS — the most likely hardest working one of her team, the poor woman. if people can sometimes forget barbie’s wrongdoings you have this woman and her team to thank for. has been with barbara for ten years.

barbara rarely posts to her feed, she refrains from using the app while in the programme hence why the last few posts were from the couple months she spent back in portugal before her return to tokyo. every now and again she’ll post a story to her close friends or, if it’s something a bit more professional, she’ll post to her public stories. she deleted all posts after coming clean about daniel and started her account fresh with announcing her pregnancy with the twins but hasn’t made many posts after that.
