Riverdale finale 🎬

I find myself obsessed with the concept of a Riverdale Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet fusion (with a smattering of Hamlet)

Imagine Hiram Lodge as Macbeth and Hermione Lodge as Lady M taking over Riverdale by killing Fred Andrews in a convenient “accident”. Archie knows this bc the ghost of his father told him (but he also could have just been high on the jingle jangle in those cookies but try telling that to the sheriff) and he is determined to take revenge but falls in love with veronica while infiltrating hiram’s drug operation (ok i guess there’s quite a bit of Hamlet ).

Betty is Rosalind in this situation (Archie’s ex who he leaves for Veronica). Betty is also an FBI informant (duh) who goes to Hiram and offers to spy on Archie for him (citing revenge for him dumping her) but secretly she feeds him false information that makes him increasingly paranoid (acts as three witches) and with Veronica’s help convinces Hermione to get hiram to dispose of the blossoms- the only other powerful family in riverdale that poses a threat to Hiram’s control of Riverdale (to stop Penelope blossom’s poisonous involment in g&g). Cheryl survives the attack and flees Thornhill (Fleance).

Meanwhile Jughead who has been resisting Hiram’s attempts to buy out sunnyside trailer park seeks out Archie (Malcolm) believing he is the solution to Hiram lodge’s power grab - he is now the only red-head in Riverdale and thus by an ancient law (introduced by the Blossoms- no wonder they wanted to set him up with Cheryl) could stand as a mayoral candidate at the last minute and can trigger an election and as ppl think he is a golden retriever he could push Hermione lodge out of office. And who else has the abs to defeat hiram in a boxing match?

Unfortunately archie is like, “oh idk if i could do that jug. Hirams a pretty buff dude ;)” When jughead (Macduff) returns home disappointed he finds the serpents have been attacked by the ghoulies employed by Hiram. FP is in hospital in critical condition. This motivates him to inspire the serpents and northsiders to unite against hiram. The southsiders respond with community organisation and the northsiders are also…helpful? Gay kevin puts on a musical denouncing Hiram lodge, Alice Cooper writes damaging articles and Josie McCoy sings at every protest. Sweet pea, Tony and Fangs are quizzical at first but eventually just shrug and enjoy these…interesting tactics.

Meanwhile hermione lodge is encouraged to flee as betty claims that hiram has begun to turn on her as well bc he knows about her affair with Fred Andrews. Veronica fakes an attempt on her mother’s life from Hiram, believing it will encourage her to leave. However, Hermione, overcome by guilt and fear, fakes her own suicide.

Hiram is sad but believes he is untouchable due to misinformation from betty, “Archie would never move against you and also you’re too powerful to be taken down by the FBI. Really, I promise!”

Veronica believes she has caused her mother’s death and in a game of G and G drinks from one of the goblets and has a seizure.

Believing jughead to be responsible for Veronica’s death (j made a very vague threat about hiram’s loved ones bearing the consequences of his actions) Hiram challenges him to a boxing match. Jughead accepts seeing it as a chance for vengeance. Things aren’t going with well for jughead without his flip knife.

Suddenly Archie sees Veronica’s body and believing her to be dead drinks from both cups just to be sure he will die too. Before he dies he rips his shirt in grief that it’s come to this. This distracts Hiram so Jughead is able to gain the upper hand. Turns out Archie had the abs to defeat him afterall!

Then betty arrives with the FBI in tow (Burnham forest baby!) and arrests Hiram before jughead can kill him. All mourn the tragic death of Archie and Veronica. But then cheryl shows up and A&V wake up- turns out there was no poison in either challis (she decided not to carry on her mum’s poison stuff…she prefers shooting ppl with her bow) She seems poised to shoot everyone in the room in revenge and then in Cheryl fashion announces that she never liked her family anyway and now she gets to inherit the whole blossom fortune. And she’s in a polyamorous relationship with Tony and Hermione lodge and sashays away with a “toodles”.

And just as you think, hey this isn’t too unhinged for Riverdale. All the characters wake up in hospital (bc they have the set so they need to use it) and discover they have all been in comas induced by the runoff from Cheryl’s uncle’s fizzlerocks production. Nothing matters bc it’s Riverdale. Goodnight!

✨Moodboard Teaser: In Technicolor✨

With the release of the first chapter coming in hot with its expected release being this Friday at the latest or sooner (possibly as early as tomorrow) I wanted to take the time to acquaint everyone with the primary couples in this story. Usually I cap it at two couples and have auxilary couples and characters on the fringes. But because this is a crossover between two of my favorite shows, I have expanded it to three—possibly four—couples with auxilaries (secondary) on the fringes. These couples will include original characters i.e. Wynn Galpin who is Tyler Galpin’s younger sister. There is a crossover couple that joins the Wednesday group with the Riverdale group. This couple is where I expect to receive the most backlash but idc. Their my crossover otp and I hope you all trust me enough to keep reading and join me/the characters on this journey. I have also switched some things up with one of the Riverdale characters because the ship only got screen time in the last season and it did more for their character than their actual failed relationships did the entire season. Fight me. But don’t. Or do.

Anyway, here are the couples moodboards, as promised. The visuals were inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juilet because these past few months since January I have been on a 90’s and 2000’s kick and I am dying for how that movie captured the beauty, grit, grime, and excitement of LA. We open with our crossover couple who are the star-crossed lovers—Cheryl Blossom, the queen of the Palisades and star tennis player and Pugsley “Lee” Addams, the king of Elysian Heights and leader of his grunge sleeze band Texca. Born second generation to a working class defense attorny and day-time caregiver to the elderly, Lee Addams has just wants to make it through his senior year of high school and hangout with his friends on the weekend. But when he and his twin sister Wednesday step a little too far over the line at their old school their parents pull some strings to have their three children—Wednesday, Pugsley, and Pubert “Bertie” attend Morticia’s former high school. There, Lee unwittingly comes face to face with the campus queen, the indomitable and untouchable Cheryl Blossom. Born into privilege with the face of an angel and the bite of a viper, she has everything and anything. Influence thanks to her parents name. Adoration by way of her beauty. And power because of her abilities to manipulate others. But what happens when a hurricane meets an immoveable force? Will they fold? Destroy one another? What happens when the pretty vicious face isn’t all it seems to be and the cutting confidence is stripped away? Who are the real people that lie beneath it all?

Next are our second pair of the four star-crossed lovers. While it is never a good idea to fall for your twin flame, for Tyler and Wednesday it isn’t so simple. Twin flames and soulmates fused into one as if it were a sick joke, their story begins at a party—the raven haired twin sister with her face painted like a Catrina (see: Dia de los Muertos symbols and iconography) and the Galpin golden boy dressed like Sir Lancelot with the sacred heart etched into his chest plate. Like her brothers, Wednesday grew up living a modest life where nothing was taken for granted and family sits at the heart of all major decisions. For Tyler, he has forgotten the importance of family and community after starting university where his life has evolved into an endless stream of parties and hookup’s. Never struggling but also never being challenged to be better or grow, he’s hit a wall. A mid-life crisis of sorts but at the already chaotic age of 18 with his 19th birthday right around the corner. But from the moment he lays eyes on Wednesday she is all he can think of. All he breathes and dreams of—a beautiful stranger that won’t free him. Yet when this silver tongued Casanova tries to approach the dark beauty he’s shot down. Challenged to question who he is and what he truly is doing with his life that matters. What is in store for the idealistic social revolutionist and her troubled admirer? Where will they land when the walls of his kingdom come crumbling down?

The youngest of three siblings each yet one is protected and coddled like a greenhouse flower while the other has flourished amidst hardship and bouts of poverty. Wynn Galpin is caught in a never-ending loop of compassions to her twin older siblings, Tyler and Enid. Both are straight A students. Both star athletes with Tyler winning championship after championship for swim and Enid earning a full-ride scholarship to UCLA for volleyball. Both are charming and charismatic. Both are perfect and Wynn can never compare despite how she tries. She doesn’t have the passion for swim or volleyball so she chooses cheer. “That’s not a real sport” she’s told. Her siblings get A’s but she can hardly scrape by with B’s while battling her depression and anxiety. At all times, her mind is screaming for her to just run off and disappear. And after the loss of her friend and pseudo-sister Polly, the darkness has become more persuasive. More invasive and vicious. But it is during a spiral that forces her out of the gym during cheer practice that she runs into the new kid. The brainiac junior in her senior level AP classes. Pubert “Bertie” Addams. A carefree class clown with a heart of gold and the virgin Guadalupe drawn in vibrant neons on the bottom of his skateboard. Where will this new path take them when the class clown and the beauty queen who seems to always be in tears meet to form an oddball friendship? And what happens when their hearts begin to long for more than just friendship but their worlds couldn’t be more different? How will things turn out for the greenhouse flower and her sidewalk dandelion?

What’s the worst that could happen when you fall in love with your best friend? What happens when you think they love someone else? When you think they could never see you the way you see them in return? Do you stand there and wait for them to turn around? Or do you walk away while piecing together your heart that will never know real closure? Reggie has asked himself these questions nearly every day for the past six years since his family moved to the fringes of the Palisades and enrolled him in the affluent junior high nearby. Archie Andrews was his first friend at his new school all those years ago. The first one to get up during lunch time and sit down next to him. The one who didn’t care that his parents weren’t from money and had only recently come into their fortune. The one who didn’t care that he didn’t have the newest clothes, phone, or hairstyle. Like a guardian angel come to save him from perpetual solitude, Archie befriended Reggie with a bright smile and a silly joke. And since that day, Reggie has kept his love for the redhaired boy wonder to himself. Has been the picture of what a bestfriend should be. Has supported Archie and defended him. Joined their high school swim team with him just so that they could live out Archie’s dream of being the one’s to break Tyler, the former captain’s, record and win more championships than him and his team did. Reggie has lived a beautiful but painful lie for nearly a decade and the cracks have begun to show. The devotion now agony. The love a barbed dagger twisted liettle by little every time he has to play third wheel on Archie’s dates with his girlfriend Veronica. But one night their eyes meet across a sea of moving bodies at a house party. Archie kissing Veronica but can’t stop looking at Reggie. There’s a spark. A sadness. Hope. But is there truth? Is there a willingness to be honest? To accept this attraction that has been there waiting from the start? Does Archie know what real love could be like if he just turned around? Or will the lovefool angel look away once again and leave the poor friend and saint in the dark?

Grundy tells Betty that she "tutored" Jason Blossom previously, and that he was "an inspiration." In this town where there can only be one of each (arche)type, there's a real ambiguity over whether Archie is the not-good-enough Jason replacement or in the alternative, is an improvement on Jason. Jason is dead, so that perforce makes Archie the do-over, maybe. Archie is the Jason that isn't polluted by dirty, inherited money or evil parents or indoctrination into misogynistic male bonding. But the Jason was apparently smart, born beautiful, born muscular, and was the leader of everything, which Archie has a hard time embodying or believing himself to be. Jason was 'perfected' by being dead, murdered and blameless and unable to reject anyone's projections unto him, and Archie kept trying to live, to break out, to be himself, to refuse.

The real Archie Andrews never gets to exist very often, because is there really an Archie without Jason for Jughead?

For Cheryl?

For Alice Cooper? Or even for Betty?

holly herrera-fire is 17, loves her brothers more than anything, she is daddy's daughter and has some sort of mommy issues since she's never felt close with squirrel who was like an 'absent' mother and had more interest in partying, drinking wine and shocking the society with her outfits or a new boobjob. squirrel herrera-fire was 'absent' for first 5-10 years of holly, jay & lion's lives and then she remembered she has kids and tried to play a 'good mommy' job but holly still doesn't feel like they're actual mother & daughter. more like friends because of the way squirrel behaves and tries to stay younger as she actually is (wearing revealing clothes, clubbing with your own kids and talking about their first sex) and that's some sort of friends holly wouldn't like to have. yeah a paragraph bout mommy issues. holly is also a granddaughter of the president firestar fire (lol sorry i don't have a fantasy) and first lady by husband and lady by blood sandy fire (im gonna write posts bout my headcanons and im gonna explain this one bout sandy's origin too), and her dad bramble herrera-fire is a vice-president and oh ofc the son-in-law for the mr. president. these facts make her cooler than anyone else in her private school. her & her brothers rule that damn school for sure. she feels her power over other students. holly is THAT bitch. let me say 'primadonna' by marina is her signature song for sure. holly wants to go to harvard law school and become a lawyer. this came to her in mind after her brother jay's arrest. she also wanted to become a doctor like her favorite aunt leaf but gave up after failing her chemistry classes and wanted to become a president too (guess i don't have to explain why). her bond with her grandpa is really strong she loves him so much. her favorite cousin is ivy jocelyn, however they're really different and may have some difficulties because of ivy's stealth and awkwardness (alexa play 'the girl so confusing version with lorde' by charli xcx). her style is inspired mainly by blair waldorf from gossip girl, cheryl blossom from riverdale and chanel's 90s couture collections. yeah that's a combo... not gonna lie she was almost a tomboy in her early teen ages because u know she has two brothers they live under the same roof and she was influenced by them too. although she completely changed her whole wardrobe & style after her brother jay was arrested for allegedly killing his cousin flame (that was a WILD story it was in the news for months everybody was shocked). she thought perfect hair & classy feminine outfits would've helped to make her family great again. good job holly and your tweed chanel suits in 100 different colors are cute but oh it didn't really help my dear inspired by my very own human!AU. im going to make some more posts about it. stay tuned! xoxo если вы знаете русский язык, вы можете прочитать фанфик, основанный на этой АУшке, на фикбуке, и подписаться на телеграм канал. там есть все мои хэдканоны на русском, информация о новых главах и всякое такое закулисье. ссылочки не стесняйтесь просить!

"You better run."

You merely shook like your life depended on it at her command, the coldness and flatness of her voice dragging a chill down your spine. Your clothes were torn at the seams from running through the biting ice of December air. It'd felt like hours since this wild chase had started, and your feet were feeling the worst of it. Your legs burned, some of the scratches on them stinging as if someone had rubbed salt all over them.

When you didn't move and simply cowered in fear, she barked an order out once more, "Run before I get my hands on you!"

So you did, and now was when you realized this was going to take at least until the crack of dawn to be over.

"Tell me something nice instead of whimpering like a fucking idiot over there."

She had put you on chains the moment she caught you, throwing her body onto you while she ran at full speed. You fell to the ground the moment her front collided with your back all the while, she had remained upright and unphased by the collision of bodies.

You liked her, in a way. It was only this fatedly twisted moment that put a logical wall between your head and your heart. Your breathing was uneven, your body flinching away from her fingers when she touched you unexpectedly.

"I've always liked it when you called me pretty. Why don't you say that?"

You turned your head to the side to face you ever so slowly moving body, "You are pretty, Cheryl. You don't need me to tell you that."

She slapped you across your face at that, gripping you by the jaw to make you look into her shining brown eyes. "You don't get to tell me what I need and what I don't need."

You whimpered, slightly tearing up at the stinging pain flaring across your skin. You'd wanted to apologize, but Cheryl beat you to it and said, "I'm thirsty, let me have a drink."

I mean, you weren't complaining, and you definitely didn't dislike being treated this way, but cheryl hadn't even given you a heads up before diving into your neck, sharp canine teeth first into your otherwise smooth neck, and sucking you blood out of your body seemingly in a haste.

You whimpered, your hands fisting around the chains that bound your body into and 'X' shape in small home chapel. You felt shame bubble up in you tingly tummy, the fact that you were leaning towards liking this not sitting right with you.

As Cheryl continued to suckle on your neck, you became dizzy, the light-headedness that came with blood loss finally catching up with you. Just then, in the nick of time, cheryl pulled off of you, a sharp sigh of refreshment leaving through her blood slick lips.

Cheryl's condescending eyes looked into yours when she next spoke, "You gonna be my good little blood bag and let me feed from you anytime I want, right?"

When you nodded she only grinned, "That's right, honey. I'm going to get these rusty chains off you now, promise me you won't run? I mean, it's not like I'll let you get far even if you do, but you don't want to die young, or do you?"

Your eyes widened, rushing to get a response out even through your heaving, "No, no, please. I promise I won't run, please."

"Good girl."

About the previous anon's "other brother" message: I have a story with siblings like that! They're inspired by the Blossom triplets. (So Cheryl & Jason + Julian, Riverdale's OC.) I think he will find out, and he's fairly neutral about it.

On the flip side: My current WIP features an older brother and a pair of twins (boy and girl) who are 3 years younger than him. The brothers are together, and the sister is supportive! They do live in a new future society where their relationship is completely allowed, but their culture and religion aren't too keen on same-sex or incest, so there's still some angst about it, and they're keeping it a secret right now. (They're royals, and their country is quite traditional.)

I tried using an AI image generator while I was trying to find a photo that inspired me to get in my writing vibes. Here is my definitely professional scientific method and full academic study:

Aim: to generate an artwork that depicts characters from a fanfic

Hypothesis: the artwork will be generated

Equipment:

- internet capable device

- Craiyon.cơm

- an obsession with a tv shown

Method:

1. Type commands into the box and wait for the artwork to generate.

2. Be disappointed, but not enough to not see this through.

3. Repeat with minor adjustments, for science.

4. Huff loudly. I want 5 people, not Jughead in a red beanie.

5. Repeat again, being more specific this time because surely this technology understands the names of Riverdale characters.

6. Keep eyes inside head as they’re starting to creep open a litter wide. Wonder if Craiyon only knows three Riverdale characters.

7. Try again, eight more times, varying the word choice slightly. My request is just a simple wholesome Jones-Cooper-Smith family photo please reveal it great AI.

Receive these results and SO much more:

Scream.

8. Scream louder.

9. Give up on experiment. Craiyon seems not to know wtf you’re asking it.

Results:

Most photos generated by the AI system were either a weird blend of Cheryl Blossom and Jughead when in cartoon form, or suspiciously human-like two-three person combos. No images of all five characters were produced, and most were completely off.

Conclusion:

It was about 4 attempts into this that I started to realise that a lot of this art looked like it might be straight up hybrids taken from DeviantArt. When the real people photos started generating, there were a bizarre amount of little kids appearing with warped expressions or oddly blurred faces. It’s then that I wondered if the AI was scanning the internet for real photos of completely random people, and I got seriously freaked out. The last photo up there, for example, looks like it actually is a sibling photo that’s been downloaded and changed just enough that the original people in the photo are unrecognisable.

It’s a scary thought.

Creepiness aside, it seems way more efficient to just pay an actual human to create a commissioned artwork. At least they’ll understand requests. And won’t make your beloved characters look like they emerged from the darkest pits of cyberspace.

Final note - AI art ain’t living up to the hype (was it ever?) and it’s not easy to obtain a generated image to your specifications.

It was fun laughing at the images while they were generating (I’d share more but 10 is the limit on tumblr sadly) but it gets more and more scary the longer you think about where the image originally came from.

So, after this fifteen minute long experiment in the library car park as I avoided an assignment, I’ve come to the conclusion I need to look into artists who make images with 5 people to achieve my goal.

matilda was never sure if it was because she was the eldest daughter of if it was because they were just unhappy with themselves, but hallgrim and leonora fenrin wanted perfection. matilda didn't spend time figuring out how the fenrin's felt about all their children, she focussed on herself. to her parents and even her siblings, matilda was an angel from the time she could control her emotions. she studied and learned and spent most of her time trying to be perfection. she was going to succeed in getting the power her father so desperately craved. but she didn't want it to share. she wanted it all.

since she wasn't going to inherit the viscounty she knew she had to marry to gain & garner more power. she was briefly engaged to someone whom she felt no affection for, however, they passed in the attack in 1784 and left matilda starting anew. while trying to figure out something new she had an affair with andromeda nightshade and the two ended up realizing how similar they are. this alliance led to the marriage between the two witches. outwardly to the public, it seems an arranged marriage without much affection between the two. However, behind closed doors the two conspire together and enjoy each others company greatly.
