it had taken all her strength to pull through current events. loosing stefan the same day she married him, mystic falls burning down and relocating with her twins, tyler dying not that long before. it all had become too much for her to pull through. she hadn't allowed herself to stop the time and just take a moment to breath. she knew that when she did just that, she would break down and crumble. the twins needed her right now, more then ever and she would give them the world no matter what. it was during the cold lonely nights that her feelings caught up with her, the tears slipping from her cheeks and dampening her clothes.
there she was, out on her new porch hearing the sky coming down crashing in bolts of thunder and lightening. the sound of the pouring rain had a soothing effect. it was the only place she could be on her own at this moment. while another wave of grief overwhelmed her, she became aware of a presence in the dark. his silhouette illuminated by the bolt of thunder lightening up the sky. for a moment she truly believed she had gone mad because the stranger looked familiar. the moment she closed her eyes however the stranger seemed to have moved. it made her huff and roll her eyes. " great ... just great. i might be going mad as well. " she muttered to herself, the back of her hand removing the stains from her cheek. @salvtrn

it still felt like an absolute dream. both tyler and stefan had returned from the dead and there wasn't a single explanation that made sense to her. it was all surreal and it therefore felt like she was waiting for the other shoe to drop. but somehow luck might be on her side for a change and she was going to take her pie and eat it. and once more there was a surprise waiting on her in the form of a blonde vampire. " oh my god. lexi ! " @vampyredefender

it had been quite some time ever since caroline had seen hayley. the last time they met they hadn't been on the best terms. while she doesn't hate her guts any longer, she was still undecided how to feel about her. after everything that happened in the past few weeks, caroline wasn't quite in the mood to add another problem to her list, thus she tried to remain civil with her and show her a friendly welcome in the hopes of having at the least a civil standing. " hayley, i did not know you would be here. what brought you to beacon hills. " last time she checked, new orleans was still around and thriving which made her wonder what she was doing here. @mama-marshall

while caroline needed to be strong for her children, there were too many thoughts and feelings she needed to cope with, many emotions she had to rollercoaster through in the hopes of feeling somewhat herself again. there weren't many people she could discuss them with. however when she found out klaus would be there with them in beacon hills, she couldn't help herself. somehow she felt like he would understand somehow. that after everything they had been through, he at least would listen and make her forget about the tragedy and her responsibilities for just a single moment. most likely it was a foolish decision but one she was allowing herself to make. " klaus ? " she would gently ask before entering his residence. " it has been quite some time and ... i need you right now. " @nikmikaelscn

leaving behind mystic falls had left her grief stricken and with a heart full of memories she wished to cherish every single second. still, she had to move on for the sake of her children. while she wanted nothing more then to be overwhelmed by her feelings of sorrow and pain, she knew she couldn't in the presence of her children. instead, she would try and make a better world for them. it was the least she could do under these circumstances. there was one thing caroline could get excited about and that was organizing. a lot has to be done to create a suitable home and therefore she took the opportunity to unpack and unwind. that was until she heard someone enter. " could i help you with something? " the girl before her looked familair, as if they were and kindred spirit, yet she hadn't seen this person before which made her wonder what they were doing here. @cfsiphoners

it had been quite some time since caroline had last seen klaus. it therefore shouldn't have come as a surprise he was in a sour mood. even when it came to seeing her. she was even wondering whether he knew about her and stefan and what happened after. it wasn't something she was in the mood for discussing. she choose to go the different route althogether. " i am not in the mood either so how about we just keep quiet and drink our drink. two birds, one stone. "
He was seething on the inside, no one had tried to come and truly look for him. No one had tracked him down and helped him get out. His family asked about him according to Marcel but none had actually done anything. What was loyalty? Not his family that's for sure. He had been nursing a drink in the back of the pub when a familiar scent crossed his nose, without even looking up at her Klaus shook his head. "Now's not really a good time love," @griefdawned

" even i am quite flabbergasted by your words. are you getting a soft heart ?? do i need to inform klaus about your sudden change of heart because there might be something wrong with you. " the last thing she wanted was to start any fight, still she always felt hesitant when it came to the mikaelsons. " i appreciate your optimism though. "
"I don't know when I became the moral voice here but I can tell you, whatever you're going through, it gets better. I mean look at me. Years of corruption and murder and look at how I turned out. In love with a woman who I murdered due to a curse and I'm an uncle to not one but two nieces... maybe," He didn't know if it made sense but Kol needed to vent.

the words ' i have missed you more' undid her right on the spot. she had feared that upon seeing him that he had different words to say. even in dead she had loved him still. she would never forget the love she had for stefan and to her relief she no longer needed to miss him or move on from his love. her body would settle into his the moment his arms came around her own. her lips would settle upon his as two puzzle pieces clicking together. she kissed him with a longing and hunger which originated from a fear she would never be able to do this ever again. how she poured her undying devotion into that kiss and never wishing it to end. whatever had brought him back, she would not question it for the moment. all she could and dream about was this very moment. all her happiness poured into this single moment and she wished for it to never end.
His return had been unprecedented, and he had no time to contemplate what it meant, or what it would mean for them. He had taken some time to see Caroline, mostly in fear of his return. Bonnie had given him some words of wisdom, emphasising his return and the importance of it to Caroline. Many thoughts resonated in his mind, and the implications of his return. Since his return, and moving to Beacon Hills, he had seen his own vulnerabilities, and the issues this would pose them both as a couple. He was not the man he was when she married him, she married the vampire , not the human and now he had limitations and vulnerabilities he would never have expected. Enemies remained, and he knew it was a matter of time before he met his maker. Caroline deserved stability, and he worried this was not him.
Acknowledging her happiness, Stefanβs arms encased her in a warm hug, chin resting upon her head as he heaved a relieved sigh. Time did not change things for them, it never had, and he was appreciative of that. βI have missed you more.β Gentle hands encased her face, thumb brushing her skin before placing his lips on hers.

the desire to yell, scream or even rip his head off became almost unbearable when he riled her up. he somehow knew how to push her buttons and get the worst reaction out of her. in the past she had found a way to control those emotions and found a way to calm and comfort him. today just wasn't the day after all the dead she had to deal with. in the end caroline would always be alone. still, for reasons unknown to her she stil cared for klaus, even when it would be the last thing she would admit to him. her shoulders would heave, lowering when a deep sigh left her mouth. " fine, fine. you are right. you may be in a foul mood over that. but would you allow me to have my foul mood as well ?? " she would peak over her shoulder to him, hoping he would else she was definitely going out of that door.
"And there she is," he called to her retreating back as a grin spread across his face. He still wasn't in the best mood but he always did enjoy a riled up Caroline, whenever she got feisty and angry a spark seemed to light up within her. Perhaps it was the way her brows tugged together in that small frown or the way her nose scrunched up slightly. Perhaps it was there the way her chest heaved when she got frustrated or maybe how her voice took on such an edge, but Klaus enjoyed it nonetheless. "My level of caring isn't all that high right now, love," they hybrid added on, "though I would think after what you heard I deserve to be in a bit of a foul mood don't you?"

caroline should have known better then to even start believing klaus could ever be a person she could discus anything related to grief or emotions. the fact that it was always a game of who has it worse with him was something she should have predicted. the more he talked, the more she became aware it was useless starting this conversation. " of course you wouldn't because you don't even have feelings to begin with. go have fun with your pity party. it is not like any cares these days. not even your own damn family. " she slammed the glass on the counter before standing up. " i thought that if i showed you that i cared for you, you would have done the same. but it was wishful thinking. have a sad pathetic life. " she turned on her heels to leave the bar.
As breathtaking and addicting as she was, Caroline was truly testing his limit of control right then and there. He could feel his foot tapping the ground lightly as his leg began to shake in irritation. "Oh how sad that is for you, let me guess some boy came along and broke your heart again? Tell me was it Tyler again or someone new this time? Can't say I'd be surprised." He knew he was being harsh and an asshole but like he had already told her he wasn't in the mood. "Until you've been locked away with very little blood to keep you from decaying and not being able to see or hold your daughter for five years while being subjected to the worst terrors that you could imagine only then you can come to me and start whining about your broken heart."
